[Q] How much time your Note takes to Power Down? - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Once the Power Off is clicked, the immediate shows the logo and the screen switches off. But the Menu & Back touch button glows like 10 to 15 sections before it completely Power down.
Is it normal?
I just watched SG2 which Power Down immediately. But its running 4.0.3 though!

Its normal, how ever its longer for the note compared to the S2.

Thanks Earl

Not only the keys, the screen remains on too, you can see it if you power down in a dark room

[Q] Problems with power on and shutdown

Ok, so I have 2 issues with power on and shut down:
1)When my phone was stock with 2.1 Eclair, the power on animation (the "S" forming) was much smoother and synced with the sound. Now, when I flashed to 2.2 Froyo and 2.3.6 Gingerbread, it goes at like 2 FPS and it's way offsync with the sound.
2)Also, the shutdown has a big delay, I mean: it shuts down, but then the BACK and MENU button leds remain lighted and it takes 7 to 13 seconds for them to shut off, and when they shut off the phone vibrates.
How can I solve these 2 problems?
Dont look at the screen whilst turning on and off.

[Q] Galaxy note functional but screen stuck in 'sleep' ?!

Hi Guys,
I have a frustrating situation whereby my Galaxy Note powers on but the screen appears to be in permanent sleep mode - I get nothing but black on the screen.
You can here the Samsung chime as the phone powers up, I can adjust the volume button and hear audible tones. I can also call the mobile from another phone so the underlying phone/OS is working fine.
I can also connect the device via Kies USB and copy images/music with no issues.
I have tried removing the battery and replacing, I have also tried giving the device a full charge however I still get nothing on the screen.
Does anyone know if it's possible to perform some kind of hardware reset to get the screen to power back on? If not I guess i'll need to return the unit
p.s. Stock Galaxy Note
Thanks v much
Jeremy
Same problem for me , i have test many ROM and kernel but i still get the black screen. it's generally when i haven't use my phone during a couple hours.
Same issue here. The screen remains black and not responsive to front button or power button. I still am able to hear notifications (e.g. calendar reminders, plug in power, etc.).
Long press of power button to reboot is the only solution I have found in order to clear.
First occurrence yesterday after owning note for 1 month.
Second occurrence today.
Stock device. No root. KL7.
No newly installed apps prior to first occurrence. I will cross-check to see if any apps updated yesterday.
I have also disabled Green Power.
guys i have been owning note since past 45 days
and suddenly i faced the same problem today
when phone is in sleep and i receive a notification and press the home button
to wake the phone
i see only a black screen with a minute pink dot at top right
and the phone wont respond
however pressing the power button it brings the menu to switch and etc
so i can select power off and then again switch on the phone
guys this is frustrating
please help

White screen of death after starting?

Hello
After opening the slider the screen went black on my droid 3. I could not power it on any more with the power button.
So I pulled out the battery and pressed the power button after putting the battery in its place. The result was an almost white screen with very little coloured spots.
Every time I press the power-button that happens. After that I can not power off the droid with the power button I have to pull the battery out.
After some hours of testing and droid started occasionally. I used it for some minutes and pressed the power button. The screen went black and I could not wake the phone up by pressing the power button.
I pulled out the battery. After putting the battery into the device and pressing the power button I had the white screen again.
I tried
-- Power + "m"
and
-- Power + vol-down
But nothing showed any success.
Any idea?
Thank you
It seems like a hw problem. Software doesn't fix itself, but a bad connection can work sometimes. I'd take it to the service warranty.

Unfortunately there is no warranty available. Does it make sense to dismantle the droid, and check all the cables?
Thank you
P.S. You were right. I have put the motherboard into another droid and everything worked.
Is there any chance to change the cable between the screen and the mainboard?

Screen Dead

Phone: Samsung Galaxy Note
SW: Factory ROM 4.0.4?
Problem: Unable to 'power up' the screen.
Details:
Was using the phone yesterday. It was working fine. Until at night when I tried to wake the phone. The graphics on the phone began to become pixelated badly, brightened till the whole screen was white. Fearing that it will spoil the screen, I pressed the power button for it to go into sleep mode. When I try to wake the phone, it just remains black. However, when I press the Volume +/- buttons I can hear the phone reacting to it normally. It could even take a 'screen shot' of itself. The Voice Command option is also working. After a long time, (hours involved), I was able to wake up the screen for like 5 secs. Before the pixels and brightening effects comes on.
Request:
1. Is it possible to activate USB Debugging without using the setting menu?
2. If I send the phone back to Samsung for 'servicing', will all my data be lost? (Whatsapp, Skype, conversations)
Regards,

Try going to download or recovery mode..
Report back if you can.
Download mode: vol down+home+power and don't release until you see the n7000 logo
Recovery mode :vol up+home+power don't release until you see the n7000 logo

In my country if you bring your device to the samsung service center for repair, they will dlete the user data.

Screen black, reboots but still black screen

Tab s2 8.
Was using practically fully charged tablet one minute, went to use again and screen black.
Back and task switch buttons still light up when press power or home. Plus volume up/down makes the louder/quieter beeps.
Power and volume down gives me the quickest flash of the samsung and android boot logos and then screen black again. Makes the email received notifications you get when restarting the tablet.
Is basically on but just no screen. But screen still functional enough to briefly show boot logos.
Any thoughts?
Update. After about 30 mins of faffing, magically returns to life. Any thoughts on common issues that might have caused? Indicator of something about to go wrong for good?
Put down gently today and the right side of the screen displaying flickering dark/black stripes. Left side of screen perfectly fine. Touch still works over the whole display. Any ideas? Internal cable come loose? Or something more terminal? How easy to check/fix?
