Virtuous Quattro beta question - HTC Incredible S

Since I'm unable to post in the developer thread I must ask here.
Is there anyway of getting Quattro beta 6 kernel for the newer betas?
My InS freezes with the new kernels all the time if CPU O/C is higher than the standard 1.0Ghz. With beta 6 kernel I can get it up-to 1.6Ghz and it's working flawlesly.
Also if anyone can provide me correct or better answer why the beta 7 and 8 freeze my phone I'll be more than glad to hear them (I'm not total noob, i've been flashing roms since 2010 but right now I'm little confused )
Thank you in advance and sorry about my English

you can try extract boot.img from 6th beta and flash it manually

So just flash the file boot.img from the zip in recovery?
I will try that, thank you

Thx so much!
I flashed the boot.img manually and now it works perfectly with RC1 and up-to 1.7Ghz O/C!
Btw, RC1 seems to have the wifi problem again..

You have to flash the new boot.img everytime you change to a higher beta. If you forget this, the ROM wil still boot but Wifi won't work.

Set CPU to higher MHz

Kinda new to the android os, coming from windows 7 and windows mobile before. First, i have a HTC Vivid.....I am currently still running the vivd stock rom...I have rooted it with S-off, and have flashed a few different Kernels. Doesnt matter witch kernel i use, if i try to set the CPU to a higher MHz it seams to only show 1188 as the max. A couple of the kernels are suppose to run little bit higher than that, like for one, the KangBang kernel is rated at 2.0 with S-off, but i still only get 1188 option as the max. Now, with these apps like SetCPU really able to change and or adjust the CPU frequency?
Thanks!!

Before flashing a custom kernel you have to first flash an insecure boot.IMG. if you want oc. Go to my kernel thread and down load the stockish kernel. Extract the holiday.IMG from the zip and flash it in fastboot.
It may be flashable in recovery selecting the holiday option when the installer asks. After doing this you should be able to flash any oc kernel of your choosing. You only have yo flash the insecure boot.IMG once. Afterwards you shouldn't ever need to do it again.

Thank you! Didn't see anywhere about having to do that, will try that when I get home today. I'm guessing that after I flash that .IMG I need to reflash the kernel too? The kernels work really good without oc but just wanted to tinker...boy I tell ya, I'm really liking android over windows that's for sure

Yes sir that is correct....i went ahead and wiped my data after i couldnt get it boot. So i guess i got to start over now.. I downloaded your pegasus rom, but not to sure how to install rom yet but am working on figuring that out. Do you have instructions to install your rom?
All the other stuff , unlocking bootloader, perm root, and s-off was pretty simple...

You just flash my ROM in recovery. I'd advise selecting stockish kernel when asked as the installer can be picky about what recovery you use for kozmikkernel.

Bell hardware vs rogers hardware?

My wife and I both own raiders, originally from rogers..I s-offed both phones and we've been running the dark raider rom since about version 1.2 with no problems..still using wcx recovery as I haven't had any issues with it.
Our friend liked our phones enough to jump ship from blackberry and went and got a used bell raider running official ics. I unlocked his bootloader successfully, s-off worked like a charm, but here it gets weird.
It boot loops after trying to install ANY custom rom..! I tried 3 different recoveries, all of which failed on kernel install.. tried the old way and fastboot flashed the boot.img and still got boot loops or crash to recovery..I'm not new to these procedures..even had hyuh from juopunutbear irc remote in and try his hand at it with the same results.
I restored from bell ics ruu - phone boots normally. What gives? Did bell modify the hardware??

My buddy has the Rogers Raider (and I have the Bell) and I've done the root/s-off etc. on both of them and there was no difference in workflow needed.
BUT - I think you may have to flash an "insecure" kernel just once to allow your recovery to successfully flash kernels during the ROM install.
Below is the thread where you can download kozmikkick's insecure (aka "stockish") kernel. It's mentioned in the first post of the thread below. Give that kernel a flash (It looks like it is in a ZIP format that you can install via your ClockWorkMod recovery?) then try to flash your desired kernel. If you want to flash the stockish kernel manually, look inside the zip. There is a "holiday.img" file.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1572015
Also - Not sure if this matters, but I have been using ClockWorkMod v5.5.0.4 recovery and I have been able to flash many roms (and their respective kernels during the rom install)
Good luck!
So, since he's already s-off now and whatnot I can flash the "stockish" kernel you mentioned on his stock rom? Or will I have to try flashing a custom rom along with it? And if so, coming from Bell do you have any rom recommendations? I'm a fan of the dark raider rom personally.

Sorry bout the link.
I'm not sure if it will work with stock... my assumption would be yes because its called "stockish"... but I dont know. I say wait until you're ready to flash a custom rom before you try it. So - flash the stockish kernel (i prefer via fastboot), then reboot right into recovery, then flash rom... and see if it all went ok?
You have the stock Bell RUU, so if anything goes wrong, you can fall back on that.
Right now I'm on the Pure Velocity rom... loving it.
Omg..ok tried the method u posted with kozmik "stockish"..but got looped at boot... But the rom I was installing had an option to install an unsecured at&t stock boot image and that, of all things, did the trick. What u said made me think to try it.

So... after you got that going, were you then able to flash a rom with a custom kernel (all in one shot?)
Yes. After flashing the kozmik "stockish" kernel, then the custom rom, booting and getting as far as "android is upgrading" before boot looping I figured why not flash the entire thing again this time with the proper kernel and it went perfectly. I was using cwm5.5.0.4 for the record..which I'm told is still the best. My friend was happy, and I was just glad it worked this time..I was so confused why the Bell version wouldn't take the software..!
As always, I found the answer right here on XDA. Thanks again!

[Q] Flash only custom kernel

I have an Incredible S. I have flashed the official rom 4.0.4 with kernel version 3.0.16 g2271fd09. I was able to go over 1Ghz. Even though i think that 1Ghz CPU is more than enough on Android 4.0.4, it is very laggy and the situation is terrible. I need to go over 1Ghz like I did on other custom roms. I do not want to install a custom ROM because I do not know what they contain and I dont trust them. I just need to flash a custom kernel, and boot up the phone with the ability to go over 1Ghz (overclock). Any custom kernels (not ROMS) that you have tried and work with Android 4.0.4 ??

I am on S-ON, and the kernel version has not changed in the settings. I do not think I will need to S-OFF as I managed to take it up to 1.5Ghz with CM7. And the link you sent me says, that, that beastmode version is for HTC ONE X.

Reflash a newer version of CWM maybe?
Wait wait since when is 6.xxx the latest version of cwm recovery for vivo? I still use 5.0.2.0 and it runs like a charm... You should try this version and look if it works...

5.0.2.0 is the latest OFFICIAL version of ClockworkMod. v6 was ported by dla5244 and therefore, unofficial. the V6 made by dla5244 works although I would suggest using 4EXT Recovery instead. It is an improved version of ClockworkMod with a few extras here and there. The Incredible S is also officially supported and 4EXT is still updated from time to time.
happened to my incredible s shortly before it died.
sounds like your internal memory/mainboard is failing.

[Q]Installing New Recovery

Hello everybody,
I tried flashing sense 5 revolution ROM but then it stuck at its boot screen...maybe because i am using MUNJENI CWM, so i am wishing to change my recovery to TWRP..
- Download the recovery.img file and place it in your android-sdk/platform-tools directory
- Reboot phone to boot loader.
- Type fastboot flash recovery recovery.img (If on Windows).
- Reboot to recovery- Enjoy

Do i have to follow these steps, i am confused because i think these are for installing recovery after unlocking bootloader, whereas i already have a recovery installed...
Recovery does not cauz boot problems
Cause can be :
1.Dirty Flash..Data and Cache might be clashing with system files
2.Kernel maybe your device is not supporting a high frequency kernel or you switched to sense and are on cm10 kernel.
Try doing clean flash and prothermus sense of low frequency kernel or a low frequency kernl included in rom

Problem is not recovery. Problem is the kernel. Flash Prometheus Sense. Do it again just to make sure.
