Changing Rocket ROM Boot animation.. - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi mates,
I just flashed ROCKET ROM V17 and I really love it on my galaxy note but only thing I don't like about it is it's boot animation.
Is there any way to revert back to it's original boot animation or is there any app to customize the boot animation...
Thanks in advance fellow mates of the Droid...

I'm not familiar specifically with the Note, but if you have CWM (Clockwork Mod Recovery) it is certainly possible.
To do it, you need a flashable zip of the bootanimation that you like. Enter CWM, click "install zip from SD" or something to that effect and find the bootanimation.zip on your card.

Hi there,
You don't have to use CWM to flash a bootanimation.zip. Just replace the bootanimation.zip file with another bootanimation.zip you like.
The file is located in \system\media.
You can find some animations in this thread here.
Regards,

That works, too.
But I assumed he wasn't such an experienced user, and thought it might be easier/safer to just flash with CWM.

Thanks Dude,
I replaced the zip file with another bootanimation.zip using ROOT MANAGER.
Now there's nothing to dislike about my ROCKET ROM, now it's perfect for me...
Much obliged for the help......

If you're using the Abyss or FM kernels (and maybe SlowMod, haven't checked it), you don't even have to replace the stock bootanimation.zip in System/Media.
Put a copy of the bootanimation.zip you want to use in Data/Local, reboot, and you're done, and if you want to go back to the baked-in boot animation, just delete or rename the file in Data/Local.

Aesthetics, i think it gets messy if you post too much stuff in one post. One thing i want to ensure u that there is no waste of paper in it.

I'm trying to change my boot animation from yours to another but I can't delete yours. Whenever I put a new file in the system/media folder your bootanimation still shows up on reboot. Is there a special thing I need to do to delete your animation?

I had the exact same problem when I flashed Galaxy nexus bootanimation Weeks ago, and deleting the bootanimation zip first didn't solve it.
After a bit of exploring I found another bootanimation.zip in /data/local/ and replacing the zip there solved the problem.
Any youtube or gif previews available?
Does anyone have a flashable stock boot animation from ICS?
Nope.
Also, there should be a general thread for all people to post their bootanimation creations.
why isnt there any good boot animations

Yes,...
As long as you installed AOKP SGT7 or CM9 correctly you shoul have root access.
1. Download Root Explorer from Google Play store if you don't have one yet.
2. Download the bootanimation zip file and rename it to bootanimation.zip
3. Using Root Explorer, go to /system/media folder. Change access to R/W by click the R/W button on the top.
4. Find and rename the original bootanimation.zip to origboot.zip.bak.
5. Move the new downloaded bootanimation.zip to /system/media
if still not clear,
Follow my signature.
ok. What about the logo before that.

that, you will need to tweak it in the kernel itself. Just leave it be for their credits of giving us this ROM.
not
is bootanimation not boot logo

Bootanimation

How to change bootanimation in froyopro..
I've tried pushing the zip file to system/media, replacing the original and changing permission but didn't work.. It shows some other animation which is "android" written with some font which is also not the original one that i had on clean install.. I didn't find the zip file for any such bootanimation in media folder.. There were zip replaced by me..
Plzzz.. Help...
You were shown the stock Android boot animation because your one didn't work.
You must rename it to bootanimation.zip. Did you do that?
Yup I did it.. infact later I had a look at the froyo's bootanimation zip which I had backed up.. renamed similar to it.. it was "bootanimation_cm6.zip" and other had cm7.. but still didn't worked..
Ah yes you're using FroyoPro which is in fact FroyoBread. Just make a copy of your boot animation then name one of them bootanimation_cm6.zip and the other one bootanimation_cm7.zip. Finally, just overwrite the system ones. Should be good, I've done the same thing.
Also, did you create the boot animation?

Nope.. using minicm9 bootanimation and if I remember it was created by u and Acheap posted by rohin, so there's no scope of any kind of problem in the zip file also i was using it on gdx.. will try as u directed..
AChep and I have never made a boot animation. Rohin though has posted the CMX boot animation.
Ok.. but I'm sure it was posted by rohin.. anyway's I'm back to gdx..

Request: Default Samsung Bootanimation for Tab 2 7.0

Hi guys!
I've been searching for the default bootloader of P3100 but I wasn't able to find it. I forgot to back it up before flashing CM10
Anyone who has one or is currently using the stock rom and can upload the bootanimation.zip? Thanks!

Oh is that it. My apologies!
Then what is it?
http://www.file-extensions.org/qmg-file-extension
good day.
So the question is: How do you restore the bootsamsung.qmg, bootsamsungloop.qmg (or whatever is needed) instead of the bootanimation.zip?
Make a nandroid backup first and try app like root explorer or root browser lite and try to replace the files but make a backup of files that will be replaced first you could search for files within these apps i do not know exactly the path of them
Sent from my GT-P5100 using xda app-developers app
The files bootsamsung.qmg, bootsamsungloop.qmg are still present in these ROMs, in the correct location. When I remove the bootanimation.zip, I get the standard "ANDROID" flashing startup, which I actually prefer to the ones baked in by ROM devs. However, I would like to know how to get the stock animation back.

As it stands with Samsung ics. The custom bootanimation is a kernel thing. You would have to re enable it in the kernel. Or swap boot.IMG from one of prerooted roms with whatever boot.IMG in the Rom your using. It's in the init.rc you can prolly do it with root explorer.

[GUIDE][MOD] How To Change Bootanimation on Stock ROM

- Basic Knowledge
How to:
1- Download bin_update.zip (download link given below) and place it in your sd card

i got bootanimation and samsungani files from RazoDroid. Hope he doesn't mind
Troubleshooting: If you are stuck on boot logo, boot your phone in cwm recovery mode, go to advance and fix permissions.
even if that doesn't work then restore your system.
now follow steps 1,2,3 and 4.
then extract bin_update.zip
in extracted directory you will see two folder, META-INF and system.
go to system/bin copy bootanimation and samsungani
and paste it in /system/bin (replace if file already exist).
change the permissions of both file to rwxr-xr-x
and reboot. enjoy
i take no responsibility if you brick your device.
so please take nandroid backup of your phone before doing anything

as areeb jamal said, u will have to modify boot.img to change the splash screen..
there are a few guides which will tell u how to extract kernel..
but as u will be playing with the kernel, there is very good chance of bricking (or may be hard bricking) your device..
so proceed with caution
