Yes,...
As long as you installed AOKP SGT7 or CM9 correctly you shoul have root access.
1. Download Root Explorer from Google Play store if you don't have one yet.
2. Download the bootanimation zip file and rename it to bootanimation.zip
3. Using Root Explorer, go to /system/media folder. Change access to R/W by click the R/W button on the top.
4. Find and rename the original bootanimation.zip to origboot.zip.bak.
5. Move the new downloaded bootanimation.zip to /system/media
if still not clear,
Follow my signature.

ok. What about the logo before that.

that, you will need to tweak it in the kernel itself. Just leave it be for their credits of giving us this ROM.

not
is bootanimation not boot logo

Nearly a year of wrong word.

You can do it through root explorer.
boot animation
I dloaded a boot animation zip, and have it saved on root of sdcard.
Can you please post easy way thru root explorer to change my boot ani?>
Thanks
via the SDK:
adb push <file on your computer> /data/local/
If you don't know how to use ADB, search it up, please.
I have no idea how to do it via root explorer, but I assume it involves replacing the bootanimation.zip in /data/local/ with the one you downloaded.
Sorry, I just do everything through ADB.
I'll keep it simple for you. Root Explorer then go to /system/media . Thats where you need to be. This is what I do, and I change bootscreens every couple weeks.

Newb With Boot Animation Question

How does one going about changing the boot animation on the Thrill 4G? I have the cell rooted, running Thriller 1.1.0, not really thrilled with the default boot animation.
Dont worry its stupid easy... Take your new bootanimation.zip and put it on your sdcard.... Using a file explorer that can work with the root... For example root explorer... Long press the new bootanimation.zip and select Copy.. then navigat e to system/media and if using root explorer click the button at the top of the screen and mount as r/w and paste it there... Overwrite the original... Backup if you want... Then long click and press permisions and make sure all boxes are checked... Just to be safe... Then mount back to r/o... Done...

Thanx Trek, that's what i was thinking, just wanted to be sure...
Running root explorer, cannot get the system/media folder to mount r/w, nor the /system

That is interesting... You can always use adb if you want... Or flash the new doomed froyo rom by urabewe that I helped theme... It has a nice boot animation

You could also get the boot animation installer on the market. Its got a ton of different boot animations and a reboot option in the settings menu for once you've picked the animation you want. I personally love the app and its only $1.

Why not just put it in "/data/local"?
I believe NO ROOT is required.

I have started a new flashable zip boot animation thread. There are a few over there already. You can request to have one made if you don't know how to make one yourself. Just point me to the boot animation and I'll make it.
All you have to do is download zip, put on sd card if not already there. Go into CWM and flash like you would a rom. BOOM! New boot animation
Or you could just place it on your phone or sdcard and boot into CWM and flash the zip package. 0_o!

It has to be a flashable zip... you can't just flash any zip file you want. If its just bootanimation.zip then all it contains is the boot animation.

Changing Rocket ROM Boot animation..

Hi mates,
I just flashed ROCKET ROM V17 and I really love it on my galaxy note but only thing I don't like about it is it's boot animation.
Is there any way to revert back to it's original boot animation or is there any app to customize the boot animation...
Thanks in advance fellow mates of the Droid...

I'm not familiar specifically with the Note, but if you have CWM (Clockwork Mod Recovery) it is certainly possible.
To do it, you need a flashable zip of the bootanimation that you like. Enter CWM, click "install zip from SD" or something to that effect and find the bootanimation.zip on your card.

Hi there,
You don't have to use CWM to flash a bootanimation.zip. Just replace the bootanimation.zip file with another bootanimation.zip you like.
The file is located in \system\media.
You can find some animations in this thread here.

That works, too.
But I assumed he wasn't such an experienced user, and thought it might be easier/safer to just flash with CWM.

Thanks Dude,
I replaced the zip file with another bootanimation.zip using ROOT MANAGER.
Now there's nothing to dislike about my ROCKET ROM, now it's perfect for me...
Much obliged for the help......

If you're using the Abyss or FM kernels (and maybe SlowMod, haven't checked it), you don't even have to replace the stock bootanimation.zip in System/Media.
Put a copy of the bootanimation.zip you want to use in Data/Local, reboot, and you're done, and if you want to go back to the baked-in boot animation, just delete or rename the file in Data/Local.

i got bootanimation and samsungani files from RazoDroid. Hope he doesn't mind
Troubleshooting: If you are stuck on boot logo, boot your phone in cwm recovery mode, go to advance and fix permissions.
even if that doesn't work then restore your system.
now follow steps 1,2,3 and 4.
then extract bin_update.zip
in extracted directory you will see two folder, META-INF and system.
go to system/bin copy bootanimation and samsungani
and paste it in /system/bin (replace if file already exist).
change the permissions of both file to rwxr-xr-x
and reboot. enjoy
i take no responsibility if you brick your device.
so please take nandroid backup of your phone before doing anything

as areeb jamal said, u will have to modify boot.img to change the splash screen..
there are a few guides which will tell u how to extract kernel..
but as u will be playing with the kernel, there is very good chance of bricking (or may be hard bricking) your device..
so proceed with caution

Galaxy S5 Stock Boot Animation Without AT&T Logo

hello all. i got a friend to send me their international qmg files for the boot animation. these files do not have the at&t Logo in it. here is a link to the zip file that has the qmg files inside it. just extract the zip. you need to be rooted for this. then go to system/media with a root explorer and rename bootsamsung and bootsamsungloop qmg files to .bak. then copy the files inside the zip to that location. make sure to change the file permissions to rw-r--r--. then reboot.
you can also get rid of that circle animation during the shutdown animation if you rename shutdownloop.qmg to .bak. this will make only the samsung logo show during shutdown.

thank you very much....i frigging hated that at&t logo :good:

When downloading the file under Windows, make sure you uncheck "Download with Dev-Host Download Manager" and also make sure you choose "Download Now" instead of "Download." If you try to download any other way, you'll find malware.
Hi
Hi I could hear someone spending poweroff.ogg the poweron.ogg the bootsamsung.qmg, bootsamsungloop.qmg and shutdown.qmg originals of at&t please
Remember to wipe cache after applying. At first I didn't and it caused long boot and system process failed to start dialog. Then black screen with only top notification bar pull down. I rebooted into recovery and wiped cache... Everything all good.
EDIT: I don't know why, but when I did this on my G900A is caused massive hang, and random bootlooping on Lollipop. It makes no sense as it is just a gif and an audio file being switched out. But sure as $h!t I deleted the new files and restore the backup and everything works flawless again.
Worked like a charm
