Hi, please, I have a problem with GPS on my Galaxy Mini with CM7 7.2.0 RC4.
If i enable my GPS and I'm using any SW which uses GPS (fe. google maps, c:geo, sport tracker etc...) after a few minutes GPS seems to be working (in taskbar is enabled, i can see an icon) but GPS isn't working. I can shut it down and power up again, but nothing happens. I have to restart Galaxy Mini.
It happens everytime, when I'm using GPS for more than a few minutes.
Does anybody know what I can try to solve it?
Thank you very much.
Best regards,
Václav
try to reflash the your ROM
Try to flash again with clean install means wipe everything! Rc4 shouldnt have any gps bug, it takes around 30sec on my mini to find his satelite and it works fine without losing connection!
Swyped from my GT-S5570L using xda premium
Thanks for reply.
It's not about problem with the finding of satelites, it takes about 5-15s.
But after a few minutes GPS is jammed.
I just reflash ROM and tomorrow i will se what will happens.
Maybe second question: when i'm on clean install of CM7, i'm going to try AD2SDX script, but i don't know how to find, which format of ext i'm using (ext3 or ext4)... and with default script my Mini doesn't want to start, i'm going change ext in script and try it again...

Hi there
I want to ask you about strange thing a saw after flashing my SGS with any other ROM than my stock PLUS GMS 2.1 Eclair JM2... It's a branded rom which i had when i bought phone in my shop. When i flash any other ROM (like Darky's or Doc's rom) GPS can't catch cold fix... Has problems with lock and sometimes it takes long time to see any satelites... When it get a fix, hot fix are ok later, but after about hour it has again problems with fix... Thats a little annoyng cause on branded ECLAIR GPS works great... I'm always making a wipe and format system before flash a new rom ald flashing roms with wipe option built in... Currently using Doc's v6.2 XXJPY 2.2.1 and same issues - problems with fix after no using gps... The worst is in the morning, after no using gps in more hours... Restarting GPS, restarting GPS status, and fighting with it and sometimes i cant catch fix gps in about 10 - 20 minutes or more... GPS isn't broken i thing if it's working on my stock branded rom... In LbsTestMode everything is seted up corrrectly... On flashed for test JPP radio (someone tells me that is best for GPS) where same problems... Is that normal after wipe that GPS needs few days to work properly? please help me anyone...
Having the same problem. Used pure JPY, GPS was blazing fast and acurate. Now with Doc 6.2 can't even lock to satelites.
if no one helps the only thing will be to flash stock JPY, and apply CWM and kernel with lagfix... But it may not helps... really no one knows whats going on with gps issues after wipe/flash?
Flash this via cwm and see if that fixes your GPS:

Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
nope... didn't help... same problem...
Try this then:
http://db.tt/O5ompue
Flash via CWM then do another reboot.
If that fails, I give up
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
seems that it locks quite fast... 'll check again morning... but somethings strange. after few minutes of working gps is automaticly turning off? why? if im not moving and phone is not used and not moving it is normal?
i'm glad you're getting a quick lock with GPS now. As for your new problem, that is either application or settings related.
Hi guys, I have a very unstable WiFi with GingerDX and FroyoBread, I tried full wipe, but it didn't help me..
It's connected an signal is more then 70%, but market says, there is no connection and browser can't load page...
On stock ROM all works fine. Can anyone tell me, what's wrong? THX!
check ur internet wifi modem..i'm using GingerDX V008..and there is no wifi problem..
I wrote, all works fine with stock rom... do you understand it?
Problem is only with custom roms.
Sent from my X8 using XDA App
True Man...same problem with me...though wifi works fine on Hackdroid Roms ..thts why i prefer hackdroid, speed is fast as well..

I had the same problem on GDX v009 ... WLAN disconnects and reconnects every 2-3 minutes.
Following the suggestion from Dexter_prog to replace the files in /system/etc/wifi with the files out the ZIP file attached to this post resolved the problem over time.
To repeat Dexter_prog's instructions:
Copy the 3 main files in the wifi folder:
- twilan
- tiwlan_firmware
- wpa_suplicant
To summarize, what I did was:
1) backup those 3 files
2) delete those 3 files
3) copy the same 3 files from the attached zip
4) reboot
The problem wasn't gone right after the reboot in my case, but the longer the phone was running the more and more stable the wifi connection became.
I guess I should add that I never had that problem before. WiFi worked absolutely fine and rock stable on Stock Elcair and Froyobread - it only started to give me troubles at the upgrade to GingerDX.
I'd say it could be worth giving it a try.
I had the same problem, I used hackdroid floyo 0.30 and all worked well... But only for a one day. Now I tried your tut, and... It works! Thank you guy, you solved my problem...
Crap i thought this can fix my problem. when connecting i get stuck @ obtaining ip address. then x88 reboots.
Hi guys, I'm just wondering why my gps is not working. I've followed the instructions written on the apocalypse thread. I've uploaded my gps.conf text. Please take the time to look at it.
Replies will be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance guys!
Take a look at this, it might work on every CM7.x based ROM, including all vo-1 based ROMs, for me on the CM7.2 RC1 original works like a charm, first GPS lock within 15seconds

I don't think so, but you can try without damaging your ROM install by doing an nandroid backup with CWM first, if the patch doesn't work or create instability, you can restore everything from backup,
GPS Issues
Hey all,
Recently installed CM7.2 Apocalypse (Final Build: 9/7/12) onto my Ace.
I was previously using CM 7.2 Official but (IMHO) Apocalypse is far better.
Since flashing Apocalypse, I have been unable to connect to GPS. I just get the "Location Currently Unavailable" message and the GPS icon flashes continuously. I have tried the "FasterFix" Method Then the "GPS Status and Toolbox" method resetting and downloading A-GPS state.
Also edited my GPS.conf file but all to no avail.
All attempts have been made under a clear sky in several locations around my home.
Eagerly awaiting a response,
Lazzaarus

I think I have solved my problem.
What I did;

Run "FasterGPS".
Enter your Region and Country from the dropdown menus.
Exit "FasterGPS"
Run "GPS STATUS & TOOLBOX"
Menu>Tools>Manage A-GPS State
Reset A-GPS
Download A-GPS
Restart Phone *Optional*
Please note that you must have an active internet connection to access A-GPS options.
GPS needs to be enabled.
You also need to be rooted.
All Apps are free.

thank you SO much
you have to change the values of gps.conf with your current location for better gps fix.
Finishing GPS Set-Up
1. go to system/etc/gps.conf
2. use root explorer, long press that file and open with text editor
3. replace "europe" with your region according to this guide
4. Save file, no permissions needs to be changed. The .bak file can be safely deleted
in my case: south-america.pool.ntz.org
This is what "FasterGPS" does.
It simplifies the process via dropmenu's.

Just out of curiousity, how long does it take for you to connect to GPS now?
You're Welcome
Remember the "Thanks" button

Hi,
first of all I want to thank all of you pushing the SGS to the newest level of smartphone software.
Here is the problem:
I installed CM9 exactly as it was discribed in the tutorials. Everything is working fine, except the wifi module.
When the device is in the airplane mode and wlan is activated, there is no problem, but when I turn off the airplane mode and turn it on again after a short time, I get a reboot or the wlan settings screen freezes at "WLAN is activating", when I want to turn on WIFI again.
I tried all available kernels (devil, semaphore,...), tried TeamNyx RC5, tried CM10 and nothing improved this situation!
Flashing the JVU(or another stock Gingerbread) via Odin, I can use the WLAN correctly.
Thanks for your efforts!
EDIT:
I get the same problem on CM10
Using CM7 everything works perfect!
Please: If you got the same problem, answer to this thread!
Same here on Vibrant. CM9 and 10 only.

Strange, I've formatted the Note, put the rom Slimsaber and Cyanogenmod 10.2 and gps still not working. I am using GPS Test and Sygic for try to capture the satellites but nothing happens.
Would know tell me a way to check if the gps is actually connected, and if there is any way to fix this?
Thank you for the help of the two.

Does your phone's GPS indicator blink? Maybe your phone's GPS is broken? Have you tried aps named "GPS Test", from google play?
Did you tried to use the app GPSData to download latest AGPS info?
Also you can try to modify gps.conf/gps.xml to choose different time/supl server, that is greatly helpful for fixing GPS.
Try reflashing rom (clean install) - In case there is nothing wrong with your GPS hardware everything should work just fine
I have modified gps config data with Faster Gps. Results did not change.
I have also used AndroiTS Gps test,Gps data, Gps status, Gps essentials none of them was able to catch a satellite.
I have clean install Slim Saber but the result is the same.
I am started thinking that it is not software related.
It could be a hardware issue....
Folks,
Like you I spent days editing gps.conf, installing apps, reflashing ROMS, all to no avail.
There seems to be no magic bullet and what works for one may not work for another, but I eventually stumbled across http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1973727.
As you will see it requires opening the case and 'tweaking' two contact points. To my surprise it worked for me - although not perfectly. I get about 10 satellite fixes and 6, maybe 7 locks. ('GPS Test' is an excellent freebie to tell you what locks/fixes you are getting.) But a big step in the right direction. There are a few images in the thread that describe the issue/ remedy.
Top (well, average) tips:
1. If you haven't taken a case off before:
a. don't try it just before setting off to a dinner party. It is a bit of a pig and requires some grunt, swearing and patience - but it can be done! There are a few YouTube videos that help explain the process.
b. you will require a size 000 cross-head (Phillips) screwdriver. Go out and buy one if necessary (if you can find somewhere that sells them - I use the one from my spectacles repair kit which just happens to fit; not perfect but does the job - http://www.poundland.co.uk/spectacle-repair-kit. If you try with too big a head you risk stripping the screw heads and that is ......... well, not recommended.
2. Once you have completed the job test your N7000 (with GPS Test) before putting the 9 screws back in. Mine works better with no screws! You may find different.
As I say above this may work for you and may not, so the usual health warning, proceed if you wish.
You can find similar issues on Samsung smartphones, eg http://gs3.wonderhowto.com/how-to/s...-gps-problems-your-samsung-galaxy-s3-0145332/.
Good luck

Thank you very much.
Works like charm!!! :good:
The problem was in antenna.

Did you solve the problem? I have the same trouble that have arisen after updating to kitkat.I tried everything to solve it, without success (clean installation, downgrading to stock rom, editing the gps.conf file, reinstalling google maps, modem changes, hardware check ect.).
I switched to Lollipop but problem remain unsolved.
Regards
I'm glad I found this thread; I too have tried all possible solutions that may have worked for others (edit gps.config, reflash stock ROM, go back to GB, tighten the screws, bend the antenna contacts and so on), and none have helped. At all.
Now, I read somewhere that what is most likely causing the problem (completely dead gps, gps status apk shows zero satellites) is a corrupted EFS partition. This is a partition that usually is not touched by factory resets, ROM changes and so on. It also contains information that you cannot afford to loose (imei and so on).
So, I managed to backup this partition using KTools. Now, the problem is how do I get a clean, EFS partition? Is there a way to reflash this partition from a hidden backup thru odin? Or some other way?
Any help would be vastly appreciated!
Regards.
