Here's an app that connects to Nokia Servers and check your Lumia Firmware against it to see if there are available updates for it or for any other Lumia Model.
The app automatically detects when a new Lumia model\variant is released.
If you select an update, you can then send an email to your address with download links.

Nice but we have to have unlocked Lumia. Now, when Chevron don't support unlock how we can install that app ?
You could use the official AppHub account, or a DreamSpark unlock (if you are a student)
Very nice unfortunately I have no sideload slots open anymore. Any plans to get this into the MP?
Also is there anybody who already has an updated Lumia 800 with the new firmware? If so what did they fix?

I've submitted it to the marketplace, IF it passes submission you'll find it there in a couple of days.
I've installed the latest firmware, there's a thread about this in the dedicated XDA forum, basically they fixed the battery issue, they added a lot of nice things to the diagnostic app, they integrated the network setup app.

Resolved a bug that could prevent the last firmware in the list from being selected
Hello. With this app I can download the last firmware (or other firmware) for my Lumia 820? My Lumia 820 comes from Germany and there is an available firmware for Latin American. May I remplace the actual firmware with the new one?

The answer to your 2 questions are:
1) Yes, you can browse and download firmwares for Lumia phones. The app works great for this purpose.
2) Lumia 820 US\Latin America version is model RM-824 and your model, the european one, is RM-825.
You can flash any firmware for your model with safety, but people here had mixed results trying to flash a firmware for a different model.
Examples:
- You can update Lumia 800\710 firmwares with success on any 710\800 device, regardless of model number.
- Lumia 820\920 firmwares, be careful. My advice is to flash only firmwares from the list of your own model, if you look at the 920 forum here there's a guy that bricked his phone by doing so, then he was able to restore it by flashing the correct model firmware.
You can safely browse and flash any firmware from the RM-825 list in the app.
thank you for the great explanation. I will jump in!

one more question, please: how can I know which firmware is an "international version" ? I saw in the firmware description of the app some text as "EE, ATT,ORANGE" (maybe other carriers that i don't know). What I'm looking to try is flash the different international versions.
Thanks for sharing........

Hi I have Lumia 810 from t-mobile which is RM-878. APN settings are hardcoded into the firmware and ability to "add apn" is blocked. Have you or any one else tried to flash firmware from lumia 820(RM-825) to lumia 810? The model # is different, but most specs are the same with few exceptions. I have flashed my t-mobile branded lumia 710(RM-809) with firmware from lumia 710 but with RM-803. The files were pretty much similar and it worked without any problems or error messages. I wouldn't have the need to flash my lumia 810 if I could change apn for use with a different carrier. Otherwire I am stuck with phone calls and sms.
Thanks

Hello everyone, I'm trying to figure out this new phone I've just bought, the HUAWEI GT3 nmo-L31
According to search results, the GT3 seems to be a exactly the same as the Honor 5c, but there are many different model numbers and versions floating around the forums, and I'm honestly really confused on how this works.
Coming from an old and venerable HTC Desire (Bravo), where everything has always been really straightforward, with lots of information and zero overlapping (one model, one phone, that's it), I'm kind of lost on how to figure out if a firmware would be alright for my GT3 or not.
I see NMO-L31 stock rom updates, and conflicting information on what you can or can't flash, some said you can flash any 5c rom, some only nmo-L31, or L21, and so on..
Should I treat it as a Honor 5C? or completely ignore anything related to that and must wait for NMO-L31 specific stuff? NMO or NEM?
The main question is.. What would happen if I try to flash a rom meant for a 5c? or an OTA for a different model (or region) of NMO-L31? can I use NMO-L31C185B171 even if my current is NMO-L31C432B120?
I'm offering to run any check / provide phone informations and help for devs, as long as it's not something that would brick my device.
They all seem to be the same device, down to precise specifications and sizes.. this is quite confusing. Can we make it a bit better for everyone?
Thanks!

It all depends what type of ROM you gonna install on your Honor. If it is about CM(LineageOS) it will show model number under supported devices.
If it comes in ROM build for specific phone models you have to keep yourself only with your model.
---------- Post added at 10:17 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:13 AM ----------
One more thing is the device your writing NMO-L31 it looks more like Huawei P9 to me. Honor 5c usualy stars NEM from NEMO type.
Can double check on gsmarena as well, ""Huawei Honor 5c: Also known as Huawei Honor 7 Lite, Huawei GT3"" .. I went to look at the P9 and it's nothing like this phone, the P9 uses a Kirin 955 with 3gb of ram, while this (5c, GT3) is on a Kirin 650 with 2gb only.. and for the physical look, the 5c is a 100% match.
But see, this is what I mean with the confusion regarding this phone.
From ADB, it returns NEM-L21 for product name, but printed on the back of the phone, and in settings, it's NMO-L31. This is with the stock rom it came with brand new.
If needed I can provide technical details or anything that could help figure this out. Almost no informations are available on this specific variant of the model on internet.

I posted the same question on the S8+ forum:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8+/help/s8-exynos-5-ghz-option-hotspot-t3675821
My Exynos S8+ SM-G955F doesn't offer this option for selection, only 2.4 GHz.
I suspect the 5 GHz option for hotspot is only available on the Snapdragon version...

Just curious to know if the situation remains the same also on the Note 8 firmware.

Now let's see if also the international Exynos version has the band selection option.

I'm on the Korean Exynos N950N and I have it.
Actually both the posts were useful, so now I know that this option can be available both on Snapdragon and Exynos version.
It looks like that there is no limitation in the Exynos SOC itself, it's apparently a Samsung decision to show or hide this option in the regional firmwares.
Hi guys,
Just found this old thread while searching in Google for a similar question. I have the Note 8 too, Exynos version (SM-N950F) and, as seems by the previous post, Exynos also allows to broadcast the hotspot at 5.0 GHz, so it might be a firmware limitation.
Do you know if there is any specific ROM, CSC, tweak; anything that would give me that option to use the hotspot at 5.0 GHz? I have found this post by @phatWares mentioning a quite old tool by Wanam. Can anybody confirm this still would work? I ask because I'm fully on stock on my Note, so I'd like to have some assurance before tripping Know, flashing ROM, etc.
Thanks in advance for any feedback you can provide.
I had the same question and did some research.
It seems there is a new EU directive that restricts the use of 5ghz frequencies for mobile hotspots and this is why we are running into this issue (has to do with interference with police radars and such).
Logically one way to circumvent this limitation is to change CSC to a country that does not have such limitation.
I am outside the EU and I have a EU phone with British firmware and CSC, I have yet to find a proper CSC to switch to.

Thanks for your reply aljazzair. I'm also outside of the EU and US, but I think my phone is (SM-N950F) is an international unlocked version; I don't know what that is supposed to comply to.
Are you rooted? Have you tried the tool that I've mentioned in my previous post from Wanam? It seems to be a CSC Editor that allows you to enabled the 5.0 GHz option with a checkbox.

Hi,
My phone is not rooted. Like you, I have a SM-N950F (european unlocked).
.
I did change the CSC on my phone successfully once, it was a couple of weeks ago.
.
The reason was that I was on a TUR CSC due to an OTA update whilst in Turkey with a Turkish SIM on a TIM phone which had XFE firmware.
.
I was annoyed by the resulting samsung software notifications in Turkish, which is a language I do not understand, so I wanted them gone.
.
My CSC is now BTU/BTU/TIM.
.
The procedure I used involves using odin to flash what is called a "combination rom".
The combination rom essentially replaces the stock rom with samsung software used by samsung support engineering staff for diagnosis and repair.
.
It is critical to only flash a combination ROM that is compatible with your bootloader version.
.
I had the DSG1 stock ROM with the latest bootloader when I flashed the combination ROM, so the version I used is:
.
COMBINATION_FA71_N950FXXU7ASG1_CL12991683_QB24738638_REV00_user_mid_noship.tar.md5
.
There is a seemingly cumbersome procedure to follow involving Odin, several factory resets and reflashing multiple times, and it worked flawlessly for me.
It is described here:
.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=74324845&postcount=87
.
I would re-use this procedure again without hesitation.
.
But I have yet to find a CSC code that would allow 5ghz hotspot capabilities (so non-EU) whilst retaining Samsung Pay and avoiding software notifications in a language I do not understand
.
If you know of such a CSC code, pls share
Perhaps somebody that tried that Wanam application to edit the CSC could confirm? That might be worth rooting for
Hello,
I have a Galaxy Note 9 from Japan, model SC-01L from DOCOMO carrier (unlocked).
I need to know if I can flash another stock firmware on this device from another country.
For ex. flash any ROM of the SM-N960U from US.
Well, its a model based on the Snapdragon. Any problem or observation about the modem or bootloader?
Could someone help me?

Wow what a strange phone indeed:
https://whatismyphone.com/vendors/docomo/galaxy-note-9-sc-01l
its a snapdragon. SO no idea if its anything like the n9600 or the american n960u
in both cases, i dont think you will be able to simply flash with odin any other csc firmware.
if you can root it(if it is like the n9600) then you could probably get the csc file on there manually. thats whay i do with my korean N960n , i put canadian carrier files on it manualy.
anyways good luck! (you'll be needing it..lol)

No, it doesn't work.
I've tried to flash US unbranded N960U1 (XAA) firmware on my SC-01L (Docomo) using modded/patched Odin and It will just fail.
However, I did manage to flash SCV40 (AU KDDI) firmware on my SC-01L (Docomo) without any issues. It's less bloatware compared to Docomo's Firmware maybe?
No issues with the modem, can make calls and SMS. APN auto-detected and able to use NFC.
Hope this helps!

I didn't try to flash TWRP at that time and I've sold the phone long time ago. As there's no custom roms available for Japan Snapdragon variant.
Hi everybody!
I've tried to update my LG V40 over LG bridge. Bridge recognize my phone and finds new software V405EBW20e_00_TIM_IT_DS_OP_0210, from 20th march. But after downloading it it keeps crashing after entering firmware update mode. I live in Serbia so I presume OTA updates are not available for me. Is there a way to flash it with unbranded european firmware, and will that enable OTA updates or updates over LG Bridge? Thanks!
Something must be delayed somewhere, because I just got an update this month.

Greetings to everyone!
I am writing from Hungary and I have a V405EBW TIM region coded (service provider) phone with a closed bootloader and no root. When I bought it, it was probably handed over with V20d HUN Pie ROM and I was able to upgrade to V20f using LGUP (I didn’t upgrade to V20g because I was expecting Android 10). In the Hungarian forum, which I read, they upgraded to Android 10 with LGUP also a TIM service phone. For this, a DEC region ROM has also been uploaded with LGUP without any problems. After upgrading to 10, the following error message appears when you turn it on: "Current version is not available for user. Can't find matched carrier. Check NT-code: 2201: FF". My questions are: can I somehow upgrade to 10 so that there is no error message and the serial or IMEI does not disappear (see YouTube "Install Android 10 LG V40 / Actualizar LG V40 Android 10" first post) or pass can NT code be written to an independent European model without root without any problems?

I've found that if I do a crossflash, then, don't make any changes to the device, shut it off, then do a refurbish with lgup using the same rom as the (part DL) crossflash, the 'NT Code' problem will go away.
cheers
Hi,
I got a Samsung Galaxy S10 Exynos (SM-G973N), a Korean version. I am not in Korea and don't have Korean SIM so I can't use the phone (SIM card are not recognized).
I need some help to convert it to an international version, preferably an Android 11 version if possible. Current baseband is G973NKOU6FUF3.
Regards.
Hi, did you try to flash the firmware from your country/region? Just download the firmware with Frija if you are on Windows or samload if you are using Linux/Mac and flash with Odin. It's worth a try, cause the phone is basically the same of your country. Obviously since you are flashing a different region, you have to use CSC_OXM_XXXX and not the HOME_CSC_XXXXX. if it sounds confusing you can look at this topic here. Remember to use Smart Switch to backup all your files and apps.
Hi @Cobmaster, No I am actually worried about which firmware to download. The phone is originally from Korea. I don't want the Korean version, as it comes with apps and pre-loaded content in Korean. I would like a more global version. Can I use one from another country like the UK?
Thank you for your help. I used Frija to download the SKC and KOO firmwares.
Ps: For this model there are only Korean different Korean firmwares.
@koutei . I think you can safely download a UK or whatever you prefer, no problem at all.

It's weird. I need more info. Are you using a virtual machine? Which version of Windows? Are you using the stock cable?

No VM. Windows 10. No, I am not because it jiggles and disconnects the phone.
Hi, did you managed to accomplish this? I've searched for days and tried several methods to no avail. I'm starting to think that it is not achievable. If any expert would confirm this, I guess I will abandon the idea . Thanks in advance

I found a reply from a user "billa" on another thread while searching for a way to flash a Global USA Note10+ from an AT&T carrier Note 10+ (Which was successfully done). Below was his/her reply. (I edited the first paragraph and included the modded Odin sourced from a YouTube video.)
You will need to use modded/patched Odin that has the model-ID and SHA hash check disabled, therefore allowing you to flash an unbranded "U1" firmware onto a branded "U" phone and vice versa.
As of now this works on most US Qualcom (QC) models, but an increasing number of international Exynos (EX) models now include a new RMM security which prevents this kind of cross-flashing unless you first disable the RMM, by flashing an RMM-Disabler package through TWRP.
Hope this helps!
