My Bluetooth stopped working for some reason. When I turn it on, it immediately switches back off.
Tried rebooting and a battery pull. No change.
I have way too many apps and game save points to factory reset.
Any ideas?

Hmmm... a factory reset would be what I would recommend next.
As far as I understand, the points are related to your XBox Live account ID, not the device, so you should be OK after a reset, when you log on.
For the apps, the Marketplace knows you've paid for them already, so you can simply reload them again at no additional charge. If you go to your windowsphone account on the web, you'll see a list of all the apps you've bought.
had to reset
your xbox live account does not save your points or progress...
it's a real PITA to go through and find all the apps you had...

I'm having the same issues as takef0cusin above, arriving in a slightly different way. I was properly registered on 1.0.0 and used auto nooter 2.12.15. That went fine and there were no problems, but I decided to upgrade to 1.0.1 after some Wifi dropping issues. So I decided to flash back the the clean stock ROM.
I did the re-image holding down the power button 8 times, then I did the "three button data reset". Everything seemed to go fine, but it still started with the Logic PD Zoom screen and it never gave me the opportunity to re-register. Owner and Account are listed as unavailable. I then tried again using the "Erase and Deregister Device" method. Same results.
The new icons from the rooting are there, which makes me wonder if I actually had a successful flash back. I tried to register with the Gmail icon. It let me put in my email username and password. I acts like it is going to work, starts to load my conversations, then returns to the NC Home screen. I also tried to go through YouTube, but after registering I get "There was a problem with the network [401]". The Wifi still works, it still gets me the news, but the weather won't load because it says it there's location available.
What do I try next? I'm afraid to do anything because of all the warnings to re-register the NC first thing after any of these upgrades.
Thanks and Happy Holidays, OKMD
I've been through all this twice now. The second time was exactly as you have described and all I did was to redo the 3 button data reset. I was then able to re-register it.
Did it pop up to tell/ask you to register, or did you have to go looking somehow? Mine isn't asking and I don't know how to force it. Thanks.

If memory serves, after clearing data it comes up with screens where you select time zones, state, city, etc and then it asks for your user name and password. All this happens automatically after you do the 3 finger data reset.
I was just getting over the initial buyers remorse phase for my galaxy (or in my case, flashers remorse, even though I run stock JPY and it's fine, I have this urge to re-exchange it for a SLOWER stock Vodaphone Australia 2.2 version that's probably more buggy, but at least truly stock), when I drained my battery to 1% to test battery life, and shut it off manually.
On the walk back to the recharger in my room I accidentally turned it back on, and I immediately tried to turn it back off again, without letting it go past the 'GT-19000' logo in fear of the battery draining. It just restarted again and I decided to let it boot this time. Mistake. It then started to randomly vibrate and shut off apps (mainly, my live background, shake them all) left right and center then went straight back into default first-boot menu, like the very day I received the phone, or after a hard reset. The funny thing was, instead of having default values selected, it had the ones I had already put in. I thought it would be fine after that. Wrong.
I tried rebooting it again to see if it fixed itself, and it does the same with the forced closes. I uninstall my background and re-install it, and save some settings. When it boots it restores the live background back to it's stock settings (the live wallpaper I chose is still there, but the settings for it are not).
At this point I'm scratching my head so I uninstall all apps. This time on boot it doesn't throw up "force close" errors, but instead force-closes a single app or service for me on boot, with the one buzz, then three quick buzzes. Sigh... I have to factory reset my phone. One thing that particularly annoyed me was the fact I moved all my apps (AngryBirds ) to my external SD card, yet miraculously, after the reset my phone doesn't seem to think it's there anymore! Another thing I'm pondering is that if I didn't reset my phone like this, would this still have occurred?
Runs perfectly fine after the factory reset, with no errors or anything on boot as of yet. I have been compulsively rebooting it ever since just to find out, LOL!
Is this a 'normal' sort of thing to happen on the SGS, or is just through shear coincidence the combination of me restarting the phone in it's booting phase + the low battery life screwed up some boot settings while the phone was writing to it, or is it some hardware error? I can see this as particularly annoying if it were to happen every month or so. Coming from an old brick phone with something like 8000 messages on it, it'd be inconvenient to say the least to start deleting everything periodically... I guess I can use apps to back-up data when this occurs, but some apps don't even work after it's been erroring out on me. *Pulls hair out*
TL;DR:
Reset my phone while it was booting (still on the GT-I9000 screen) on a low (1%) battery and it broke my phone settings. Forced closes unknown app/service on boot with no 3rd party apps installed, but still boots to home. Force closes 3rd party apps frequently if they're installed. Factory Reset/Wipe. Problem Solved. Annoyed. RAGE.
next time something like this happens use adb logcat to figure out what is actually going wrong

you are not alone . after draining battery , starting it accidently up (drained) in middle of booting , killed it for me, well not killed but wouldnt boot for me and I had to the the factory reset. oh and since the nice bzz ... bzz bzz bzz I hear more often I would like to ( here was I ignored crying about it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=937938 )
Yeah I'll definitely boot up logcat if it happens again. I'm just hoping this isn't a regular occurrence . As long as I don't do anything stupid like this again, I'm thinking it should be fine.
The third time this happens, it's going back to the service center, so it's got two chances left! Another thing I failed to mention was that it was chewing up like 200mb~ ram with level 1+2 ram cleared, without loading back into the homescreen, before the factory reset. Probably the stupid forced close app/service leaking >.>
Pagot, if that were me and continual factory resets were the only way to fix it (or didn't fix it) I'd flash it back to stock (or just remove root) and return it to the service center if that's an option. Sounds like something got corrupted or didn't get flashed properly. Either way I'd let THEM waste their time sorting it out because no amount of flashing is going to solve a hardware issue if it turns out to be one.

(had stock, so just root removing) but I know how our service centers work (and I would have to bring it even to our carrier) they wouldnt even talk to me if I didnt do the factory reset and the first thing they would do "reflash and factory reset"
right now I am not playing on the phone so much anymore. no lust or time so no idae if my apps are still fcing so often . And I installed speedmod and made a backup so I can revert back if something happens. So will see.
Wanted to just write about the battery down +(or) not full boot = corruption
Hello everybody,
I apologize for this post being so big but I had to cover all the details. I just got my new Galaxy Note N-7000(ceramic white) in India through Flipkart.com on 13th Feb. The phone worked fine the first day but since the next morning, I have been encountering a lot of problems. This is my first ever android phone so im pretty new to android and I am really scared if I might have gotten a defective piece. So please guys any help would be really great!
Here are some of my problems -
1. Phone restarted when moving apps from phone to SD card. Happened once.
2. Restart when changing the tabs in stock internet browser. Happened twice. Also the tabs move with a bit of lag. This is surprising with such high specs of the phone.
3. Restart when browsing the gallery. Happened Once.
4. Restart when connecting to usb mode through USB Utilities under settings>wireless and network>USB utilities. Happened Once.
5. Freeze when viewing gallery. Happened once and I had to remove the battery and reinsert and switch the phone back on because even the home button was not responding.
6. Freeze when trying to attend incoming call. Happened only once.
7. Advance task killer shows several apps open even if I never touched those apps. Mostly they are the default Samsung apps but sometimes a few apps I installed.
8. Apps like skype, viber, ect crash often and give a message 'application crashed and gives options to either force close or report'
9. Generally gets very hot even when browsing the internet or the market and burns like hell when gaming. The heating problem has reduced a little ever since I updated the firmware which Kies showed.
Guys, Im not sure if I am just panicking for nothing and if these things are normal but I feel such a costly phone with high specs shouldn't give these many problems. Plus I have installed only decent apps like skype, facebook, viber, astro, asphalt 6, blood and glory, angry birds, omnisketch, box, barcode scanner to name a few and they just fill only up to half the 4th app screen . I haven't installed any custom roms or have rooted my device yet as I am a complete noob. I havent even installed any apk's or apps outside of the android market or Samsung apps. Thanks in advance for any help!
First thing you should perform is Hard Reset.
backup your data then go to setting - privacy n Factory data reset (dont select to format USB storage. so data on SD card will remail as it is.

ok i will try this now and then install the apps back and let you know...but are you sure these problems are not a manufacturing defect or some hardware problem?..Hey btw what is the difference between hard resetting from the privacy settings and hard resetting by pressing the volume up+lock button+menu button?
Doesn't sound hardware related in my opinion. If hard reset doesn't work flashing a new rom will more than likely solve it. I've never had these issues though (other than apps auto starting on boot). Is there not an update available for the firmware?

Now that the topic has come up, Dr. Ketan.. Could you please explain the difference between a normal reset and a hard reset. I tried searching. Couldn't find an accurate answer.

You just check it first without installing extra application then after. If it occurs only after installing some stuff, it is just confliction with app.
Both methos are same, reset with recovery option is useful when you are unable to boot your device normally.

What i know is soft reset is just clear appl n memory from background, say simply rebooting device.
Hard reset will wipe all data except from System ROM, so making device as it was at time of purchase.
I also wanted to add that some apps will run in background. They are software update, samsung hub, samsung account, wifi sharing. etc. Apps like a keyboard or rdio will run in background.
Rooting the device allows you to have greater control and the ability to freeze apps so they can't run in background.

So the light works when charging, so that rules out a hardware issue (i also did the hardware test from the dialer and it was fine). However, I have the settings enabled and it doesn't work for anything. Tested both gmail and sms. Nothing. I do have 8sms installed and use that as my sms app, but I tried reenabling the stock prone and still nothing. Any ideas?

Happened to me too. Here's what I found....doing a master factory reset (power down phone, hold volume down and power at same time), if skipping through all the screens, not setting up any accounts, then they worked. If I was to master factory reset and setup accounts ie. mail, google, etc. rather than skipping, that's what was borking the lights. Tested 3 times to verify. So my recommendation is to master factory reset and skip through all of the setup options. Reboot phone and then go in and setup your accounts and you should be good! Let me know if the same thing happens to you.

Yup. Fixed it. Went though and did the HTC setup, but skipped adding google account or anything else (skipped dropbox just to be safe) and it works now. Now I just have to get everything just so again. Yay for me. Thanks for the help though. Someone should really make a sticky about this or PSA or something so people that do resets to fix 4.3 weirdness (like I did) don't have to go through yet another reset.

Sweet! Glad it worked for you, crazy thing is I bought the phone Saturday and it did this behavior before I even took the update. That phone did other weird things to. After the last factory reset it blew the camera! When in Zoe mode, try to take a picture and it would force close. Got fed up and exchanged for new one. The second one had no 4g period! Reprovisioned and all that good stuff, but no 4g anywhere. Went to a different store being as I was 2 for 2 so far to get another one. They verified no 4g, gave me another and all is good! Guess 3rd time was a charm, no weirdness with this one at all...bad ass phone to say the least! Glad I went back to HTC.
I went to turn my phone off (VZ Edge 6) and up popped a "Going into Safemode" alert. When I turned it back on again, I was indeed in safe mode.
So I restarted normally.
It said safe mode was off but all my third party apps were hidden. Both on the home screens and the tray.
I was able to go to the play store and see they were installed and open them that way.
I went into the bootloader menu and tried restarting normally about three times.
Also, I went in and wiped the partition (a trick that worked when my fast charging/regular charging quit working).
No luck.
I did some searches on this and most of the trouble issues said "Your volume down button is stuck". It didn't seem to be.
In the end, I started deleting my apps and reinstalling. So I'm ok now, but I essentially did a poor man's-factory reset.
I did note that as I deleted a handful of apps, the apps reappeared-- so maye it was an issue with Safe-Mode ON, Safe-mode oFF + some glitchy 3rd party app.
Anyway, wondering if others have encountered this.

Yep, same happened to me. Your apps are still there. The tray still has them, but they are off to the right. Just re-sort A-Z and you'll see them all again. You will have to add them back to the home screen though.
