Is there any pre-rooted untouched stock rom to be flashed with CWM?
I don't have a windows, so can't use nvflash to flash firmwares, and it will be wonderful to have a 2.3 rom without any app added/removed (despite su) zipped to be flashed by clockworkmod.
If there were anyone already, I am really sorry, but I can't find it. I think that it will be a good idea also to make one sticked thread here on dev's with all mods/roms listed and linked, as I'd seen in HTC Buzz and Xperia X10 forums that I participate before.
Rebuild of v20o what you are looking for
Tks, I tried it, but this rom have a lot of LG apps removed, specially the DLNA server, the most important to me. To live without it I prefer CM7-based roms, since there will be no reason to stay on stock.
You have plenty of dlna servers on market
Have you tried a Modaco ROM?
I tried imediashare, but I prefer the LG-one, it is better streaming divx to my ps3.

Hey, I'm very new to android, all this rooting, custom roms etc. Anyways. I installed this ROM. (FROYO_2.2.1_Final_Android_Stock). And, I thought that Froyo 2.2.1 has Flash 10.1 by default, but it didn't, so I thought, hmm, I'll get it from market. But, it's not in the market. Could anyone of you help? I found an .apk, but when I installed it, it kept crashing my browser. Also, a question: Is the ROM I have the best one? In terms of speed, compatibility and app support? Or are there better ones?
EDIT: I pretty much need the Flash player only for watching streams - Livestream, UStream, JustinTV, Own3d.tv, ESL TV.

you can't get a stock froyo ROM with 10.1 as far as I know, however, ther chocolatefroyo ROM does have 10.1 running, but it has a camera bug which stops that from working. For now, you will have to choose between camera and flash.

There is no 'best' ROM, but it definitely isnt the stock one... I am running FroydVillain and I love it
The full Flash 10.1 is not possible on the Hero, the nearest you can get is Flash Lite which is only part of Sense ROMs. I'm not sure what its limitations are but you're best to just take a stable Sense ROM and find out, then see if it suits your needs.
Last month I sold my iPad and bought an AT&T Galaxy Tab and haven't regretted it one bit. I carefully followed the instructions on the "How to flash AT&T Tab to make calls page" (link below). Everything works great and I have no complaints but I am not really sure how current the ROM is that's I'm running (the one in the first post linked on the page below). I see here in the dev forum that their are several to choose from.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=847273
Any advice on the best one to use? Another consideration would be what (if any) advantage I would gain from upgrading and having to reload/setup everything again.
Thanks,
Richard
all functional roms (roto, modaco, overcome) are based on the same samsung rom (jmi), and are similar.
other roms, like cm-7, are not fully functional now.
the best difference is in the kernel:
roto are based on samsung file system and modaco and overcome on ext4 file system.
you have also a kernel that are overclocked (seems stable, but provably the life of the cpu was no than longer)....
Overcome hands down....
I find official KM2 to be the best for me.
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA App
for me the best rom is modaco rom with 1.4ghz kernel.

Roto-JMI v2 is what I'm using and it is GREAT. I have a T-Mobile Tab and stock ROM was G-A-R-B-A-G-E!!!!!!! I've tried all of Roto's ROMs and no complaints, but by far for me JMI v2 is the best.
What I like about this ROM:
- Very fast webpage loading (Miren and Dolphin HD browsers)
- Very Smooth scrolling within the UI
- Battery lasts much longer
I will edit once I think of more Pro's.
What I don't like about this ROM:
- Extremely minor!!!!! I had to find .apk's for some apps that weren't showing up in the Marketplace, BUT I have everything I wanted and simply backed everything up (with Titanium Backup) so I'm good to go.
- AT&T U-Verse app
- Slingbox app (yes I paid $30 for this app originally)
Looking at the ROM that is available from the post below that I used, what ROM am I using, i.e. what is it commonly called here on XDA?

You can get your sling box back by re-installing the stock ATT Build.prop and clearing the cache on the Market app. Next time you open the market Slingbox will be there along with every other apk. PM me if you need the build.prop
To the OP, I am also having great success on my ATT Tab with the Roto JMI ROM. Everything and I mean everything is better!
So the link I posted uses the "Roto JMI ROM"?
Thanks,
Richard
This should be in general. We have stickies entitles "Let's clean up the dev section". Can we keep it clean?

I re-packaged the stock firmwares for safety and simplicity, to minimize the potential for fail which frustrates a lot of new users.
But, now with Overcome and Modoco you have the option to try a more modified firmware which may address some of the stock firmwares shortcomings at the expense of a little more installation complexity.
My recommendation is to start off with my firmware if you're new to flashing, then as you get more comfortable and read/learn from others experiences, try out the more customized firmwares to gain all the benefits they offer.

you're the creator of my first rom loaded in tab. you have maked a great work. thank's!
now, i'm on overcome (1.1.2) but is provably that the galaxyTab community needs your work in the near future, that the overcome creator is in other themes and no has time for continue working on it, and it seems that paulobrien is also in the same line... :/
have you planned to deodex your rom and make if flashable with CWM?. this was great!!
I'm new at all this but had good success updating me phone to SlimBean using only CWM (flashed three times). Unfortunately, they do not support my tablet listed in my signature below.
Does anyone know a stable replacement ROM/Kernel, etc for my tablet listed below that I could flash again using only CWM?
Will thank any good suggestions.
Thanks.

Also can i root stock roms?
2)some apps (like plants vs zombies) crashed to home screen (when running modaco rom)

3)Why does the home screen LAG when running modaco rom?
thank you in advance!
Use nvflash or smartflash to restore a stock ROM.
Yes a stock ROM can be rooted.
Read this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1037751
Smartflash stock ROM: #2
Root: #1
nvflash stock ROM: http://android.modaco.com/content/l...rom-release-v10b-dated-1300166062-15-03-2011/
I recommend the smartflashway to restore stock ROM.
which would you say is the best rom right now?
fastest
more stable e.t.c
After what i've heard: Modaco Fr18.
Stock ROM is the worst. It's filled with bloat and bugs.
In Modaco a lot of bugs are removed, and optimizations are made here and there. It's also possible to get rid of the bloat.
Alternatively, if you want to use stock rom, install the smartflash rom for your country, root it, uninstall included software you don't need, install fixes from Modaco/paulobrien and you have a much better phone than stock.
CyanogenMod is definitely worth a try also. It is not based on official LG ROM, it's built completely from ground up. Android 2.3.4/Gingerbread.
btw, please don't PM such questions. That's what the public forums are for. Private messages are for, well, private conversations...
Use the forums, and everybody will benefit from it
I have used the modaco roms for a while wich are incredibly stable, now i am on cyanogen for a week wich is awesome but isn't stable (they are almost getting there)

Is it for everyone, or i'm the only one who have noticed that the browser (the stock one, or any other) works far way smoother on the stock JVQ which is ofcourse odex rom than any other deodexed rom (even those who are based on jvq or jvp...) Just flashed the new Darky 10.2 final and also over there... the browser feel very very lagy after i've experienced it on the stock rom.
I know that it was a known issue with the deodexed JVQ roms but some devs published that it was fixed. Neither way i couldn't find ANY deodexed rom that the browsers works like they work over the stock rom.
Any other thoughts?
please respond
well i can see u guys viewing this thread but not responding...
I just want your opinion about the web browsing experience over your deodexed roms (I assume that 90% of you use custom roms which all of them are deodexed).
Please respond.
Nobody is responding because it's a known, and highly documented and talked about issue since JVQ was leaked. Do a quick search of the forums and you'll see for yourself. I suggest next time doing that first as people on XDA don't like wasting their time re-iterating the same information that is already freely available.
So to answer your question, yes it is the same for everyone else. There may be a fix but there are conflicting results. Run a quick search for more info on that.
you might not understood my question
First of all thanks for the answer.
Second thing - i did searched for this kind of topic, and as i mentioned - i know people have discussed about this issue but on the specific JVQ firmware and i didn't asked if everyone gets better browsing results on the odex jvq comparing to the deodexed jvq.
WHAT I DID ASKED - (and i couldn't find any answer for that - even though there are several pages which explains the cons and pros of odex and the deodex roms)
IS THAT TRUE TO SAY THAT THE BROWSERS ON ODEXED ROMS ALWAYS WORKS BETTER THAN ANY DEODEXED ROM???
Hi I am still very new to the Android world, but I need some guidance from the experts here.
I have a glitchy Sam Galaxy S that I would like to install a new firmware with root and unlock. I have installed firmwares before so I am ok with that.
It doesnt need to be the newest firmware just something that is reliable. There is so many different firmwares out there, its confusing.
The phone will be used in Canada on Fido.
Thanks for your help!
Try this first..so you can root it and put a custom recovery on the fly...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788108
Then check the development section for the i9000 and choose any roms...JVR's or JVS's
The ROM is a matter of taste...I have tested 5 different ROMs on the last 3 days...and I'm still waiting for one that will make me comfortable to use on a daily basis...
Have fun....
Couldn't you have just read the answers to one of the thousands of almost identical questions already posted in this forum?
In the end, all you can do is read the actual ROM threads, choose a few that sound good, and try them out. The only opinion that matters is yours, stop asking someone to think for you.

I tried several roms, btw i found excellent for daily use the MIUI rom. Fast, stable and easy to use. Someone says that is too close to iphone style, but you can change theme with one click to make it different.

I've tried many gingerbread custom roms and stock odexed as well as deodexed roms. The most stable roms would be those of froyo 2.2.1, for example, ZSJPK. Froyo roms are smoother because they have more ram, and you can root it using superoneclick. However, I'm using gingerbread stock JVR because of the wider range of theming options
