CyanogenMod - XPERIA X8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

At the beginning : this is my first post forgive me any misstake.
Is there a possibilty to flash the official Cyanogenmod 7.1 without unlocking the bootloader and flashing a kernel?
BTW: Is there a good CM9 or other ICS rom for the E15i
( for Ics i would flash the kernel. not for cm 7.1 because GingerXperia is very nice)
Thanks

No you cant flash official cyanogen mod 7.1 without installing custom kernel.
And there is no cm9 rom which can be used daily for x8.

Currently we have two AOSP ICS ROMs troufiniou's which is stoped I think and paul-xxx's. They still habe some bugs and in my opinion they are still not for daily use.

There are some guys that try to make a CM9.
Still just use GingerDx or somethin that is checked from the community!

Thanks
THx for fast reply. I will use GingerXperia. GingerDx works with stock kernel??
I will wait for a stable CM9.
Thank you very much

you can install rom(just rom) with out unloucking boot loader

does someone has experiences with gingerdx and gingerxperia?? which is better?

[Q] How to update rom to latest CM7 nightlies ?

Hello everyone,
I want to know how to update CM7 to latest nightlies without waiting devs to make an update to the ROM.
Im using GingerDX.
Is it just flashing the cm7 zip in CWM? Which file to download from official CM7 site.
Any idea is welcome.
http://cm-nightlies.appspot.com/?device=shakira
Install only rom, not kernel.
Use one of FXP028 FXP030 or stable CM71 kernel.
Means i download the nightly zip and flash in cwm, thats all?
Why need to flash kernal?
nAa's kernel seemed to be working fine also with CM nightly
i would like to know how too...
Can u explain? I dont want any kernal, i just want CM7 nightlies. Im using stock kernal.

Only those kernals work? Im using stock kernal.
How to install the rom? flash using cwm?
Custom kernels works only with unlock bootloader.
CM7 rom doesn't work on stock kernel. Only on custom kernel.
If your bootloader is unlock, the best kernel for CM7 right now is either nAa's kernel or fxp028/030 as mentioned previously.
But cam is vga only and fm radio doesn't work yet on CM rom.
If you still want to try CM rom, flash kernel i mentioned and install CM update zip in CWM.

Im using stock kernal and im using CM7 rom. In other words, i want to update cm7 like the developer.

CM Nightlies Hero 231+
Completely remove recent apps on status bar
Small gps tweak (for my personal use in France). It should have faster gps lock.

Does this means i have to use cm7 hero nightlies instead of shakira?

first, miniCM7 only built on custom kernel, so you've to unlock your bootloader
and then flash the nAa kernel or AlfsCM7 kernel
about flashing from custom rom, its just the same, you go into the recovery and simply flash it with the right kernel

Problems booting to install Roms

Because some roms are left hanging in the beginning and not booting, my phone is a Huawei U9000 X6, I tested several of the forum but none work properly, now I have Android v2.3.7 and want to do the upgrade to 4.0.
In advance thank you very much.

You gotta remember this ;-
You need kernel 2.6.35.7 for all ICS (Ice Cream Sandwich) Roms
You need kernel 2.6.32.9 for most GB (Ginger Bread) Roms
Android RC3 runs on 2.6.35.7
I think you should flash RC3 via SUT. Flashing RC3 gives you a stable OS and automatically gives you Clockworkmod so you can boot into recovery and flash any ics rom directly after this or any 2.6.35.7 based GB Rom
For some reason though, on neither kernels, this -http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1619837 boots for me.
The indicator of wrong kernel is Blue screen on bootup

Flashing RC3 automatically gives you the ics kernel.
You can also use CK Kernel 0.4d in dev threads and flash via cwm but it will not work with your current rom

Yes. That should do the trick.
As an alternative, you can still flash GB stock from your manufacturer (most likely .32 kernel).

I want to clarify if it ever works in stock kernel? because mine is not possible to unlock bootloader, I want to change my CUSTOM ROM from CM7 to ICS ROM. Many also ask if it ever works on STOCK kernel.

i dont think nAa will develop stock version
minicm 9,10 on stock kernel is impossible.
Its impossible to run CM9+ with stock ROM. it requires swap(I guess) and some tweaks + libs that requires with custom kernel.
Correct me if I'm wrong.

obviusly custom kernel is going to work better, but not all the devices can be bootloader unlocked to flash it, at least not for free
my x8 is bootloader unlocked now

mmm i'm currently using this http://yairpatch.com/blog/2013/10/cm10-4-1-0-20131028-unofficial-shakira/ rom with nAaJB kernel, but it is JB and I don't know if you're asking for a GB rom, anyway this works smooth, you can also try it with this kernel http://yairpatch.com/blog/2013/11/xperia-x8-gbjb-kernel-0-5/
