What ROMs are still actively developed? - Motorola Droid and Milestone General

I really appreciate all the dev work that goes into the ROM ecosystem, and I know how much time is involved... but the bugs are killing me. This phone is only 2 years old!
What ROMs are still actively maintained?
CM7 porting for this device has stalled
MIUI porting has stalled
Bugless Beast?
I've had major bugs on all of those that have made me go shop around.
Any hints?

Kfazz's ics port, which is pre-alpha. No call audio yet.
Yep. That's it. Time for a new phone. I'm due for one next month.

I only know cm7 is very stable. Why you ned a rom with daily releases? there are enough roms without big bugs.
HO!NO! CM7 Rom is very active, too.

Steel Droid

CM7
HO!NO!
Ultimate milestone (though it hasn't updated since November)
MIUI
Those are the ones that I know of which are still being developed recently.

Frostmod 1.5
this rom was just released a few days ago and he will be working on it later but its a great rom! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1374041

Believe actngrezy is building PE7, no release date, chevycam is building Steel Droid 10-possible March release, & still believe cush still working on new building.

I'm currently running liquid 3.2 and have not had any issues at all, I know this rom is not actively being developed, but if your looking for something stable check it out.

Hum, CM7 still is being developed (there are updates in the source code), it just hasn't been enough for a release yet. You can always build the code yourself, though familiarity with Linux is a must.
Nadlabak / Kabaldan is focusing on bringing ICS to the milestone though, and I must say I support his decision - it's already running quite smoothly! If he keeps up the pace, everything will be up and running withing a few months or so

Best\Most Stable Rom?

Hi i just bought a new Hp touchpad.
I want to know what is the best rom for it.
I know that there are cyanogen 7 and 9 ports.
There are things that are not working on some of them , so if cynogen 7 is working and stable i think i would install that and wait for cyanogen 9 to become stable.
Can you give some advice , what to do , which rom shoud i install.
Thank you , and sorry if this is a noob question
CM9 alpha 2, its stable and actually running better than cm7
There are also several "kang" builds in the Dev section. I've been running CherryKang lately, with good results.
Thans guys , so have you had any problems with these roms?
Except the camera are there some other quirks?
And do you know how long is the period between releases ?
Thanks again

The cherryrom still doesn't have Netflix working but has HD YouTube working (it states that in his top post). The nightlies have everything working from alpha2 with only a couple changes that will be merged into the next official release anyways. The cornerstone ROM is really slow and bricked ROM hasn't seen public releases after alpha2. And there's protekk's AOKP and classnerd, neither have Netflix working either.
I say go for the nightly. And I guess development has slowed because everyone is waiting on dalingrin for new stuff. I'm guessing the kernel is going to be updated to 3.0 and or they're working on audio.
Samsung Captivate CM9 - Glitch Kernel | HP TouchPad CM9 - Bricked Kernel
I honestly haven't tried Netflix (I guess it's not working), and only a few games. There are a few notable ones that don't work, but for normal stuff it's all good. The main problem that I've had with CM (I've only used CM9 and skipped CM7), is that the TP will essentially lock up, often times when charging on the touchstone charger. That said, ever since upgrading to the latest CherryKang (0.9), I haven't had a single issue (knock on wood). I have tried Bricked and the official CM9 alpha and both did the same thing, so I think it's just a Cm issue (there are a few similar issues going around, it seems).
Go for AOKP.
M4 has working netflix and youtube.
I personally haven't found a rock solid rom , but there are a few that are really close to it. I'd say try the new cherry-kang v9.2 with o/c , HD youtube' + netkflix etc. Syn(3.10.2012). Its fast and reliable. I have to reset my Wi-Fi the least with this one.
I'm running aokp and nextflix and YouTube work no problem for me

I'd have to agree with the above post, the latest CherryKang (standard cm9 version, not the bricked rom) has proven the most stable for me. Unless you expect to be using the camera/microphone a great deal on the TouchPad, I would definitely suggest taking the jump to CM9.
I did just flash the Cornerstone 1.1 rom w/ 120 DPI patch, and although there have been a couple of very minor glitches, it's performing fairly well so far. (I was forced to reboot my TP-audio distortion- and my wifi reconnected without me having to use the forget the network/reboot rescue method. I haven't personally tried the AOKP Milestone 4 rom, so you might want to check out that thread and decide for yourself.
As for your question on release dates, other than the nightlies, they come out whenever the developer has something new to put out. Since I've been following these forums, it's generally taboo to openly ask a developer for the next release date. Doing so may make you susceptible to verbal reprimand from other members. Personally I'm not blasting you, but I don't want to see someone else fire back at you in a more harsh manner in the future.
Good luck with whichever rom you decide to flash!
HTC Thunderbolt - Shifts3ns3 3.1; HP Touchpad CherryKang v9.2;
I've recently been running AOKP M4 with great results, I like it
CyanogenMod 9 Alpha 2 is also fantastic
I wouldn't really suggest any others though.
I have cm9 on mine and Wifi doesn't reconnect a lot after waking from sleep. Ill check out this cherry one I guess.

I'd vote for AOKP. Its running really well on my touchpad.

Does Anyone Else Want CM7.1?

I know we have some wonderful progress with CM9 and AOKP builds of Android 4.0, but is it possible for someone to build CM 7.1 for the Droid 4? Considering all the drivers seem stable enough on ICS, and most of what I was running in to as problems seemed related to CM9, not hardware, and I have heard of a front-facing-camera fix, it would seem this should not be too difficult if one actually knows what they're doing. (I am afraid I don't. )
I would really prefer to run CM 7.1 to stock; it would be great to have this for a few months until CM9 or AOKP are stable enough for every-day use.
i dont think it is really worth anybody's time getting CM7 going on this phone... the future is ICS/CM9 and everybody wants ICS/CM9 because it simply is better.
are there bugs in the CM9 we have right now? yup, its a beta and you have to expect it. i would rather the few devs we have working on this phone to get us a flawless CM9 than push out an equally buggy CM7 which brings me to my next point... what makes you assume that a CM7 build for the D4 would be flawless?
tldr; No.
All the bugs I encountered were CM related or Android 4 related. Camera drivers for Gingerbread are well supported, as is the Radio. Missing menu entries or incomplete implementation is purely CM 9. Essentially, Android is just Linux, so it just needs a working driver, and everything runs on top of that. Since the D4 is already 2.3.5, it should be just about as easy as dropping in the new drivers, tweak the DPI and Camera resolution, and let users test. I just don't have a capable computer or time between classes to try building it myself, since I would have a lot to learn before success.

Bionic ROMS?

Whats the newest, most bug free ROM out there for Bionic, thats still getting updates?
I've had the Bionic for a couple of weeks and already got disapointed.
back when i rocked the DX2 i was die-hard Eclipse.
well on bionic i notaced many bugs, and i re-flashed, redownloaded, the works. had the same issues.
anyway. nitro sold his bionic, so no more Eclipse. so i swung to the other side to try Liberty. its cool. no where neer as boss as Eclipse. but they both have pros and cons. anyway.
come to find out Liberty devs stopped for the bionic too. so, my question is, what is the newest, bestest rom, thats still getting updates, and lots of themes? preferably a boss ICS theme D
Active Bionic Roms
There are several alpha and beta Roms out for the Bionic however most of them still have bugs ranging from no 3G/4G to the front facing camera not working. From what I can tell the only stable Rom for the Bionic is gummy. This may be due to the Bionic having a locked boot loader. Hopefully either Nitro will get a used Bionic and continue development or development will increase when or if ICS is officially released on the Bionic.
i hope he does too. i really enjoyed Eclipse. besides the fact thant when i held down the power button to get the reboot options it would just straight up reboot. (very annowing when wanting recovery)
i think the AOKP ICS rom thats out looks mighty spiffy, but i dont know what all doesnt work, and i dont want to risk having to go back to my old old devour. (sold the DX2)
anyway. thanks for your input!
here is me and @insanemods rom mainly his but working on fixing all the bugs stuck at f.c.'s at the moment but mostly works themes galore lockscreen changes and such... here is the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1535293
I'm in the same boat as you, trying to find a stable ROM rather than go back to de-bloated Blur. The only other recommendation I can give besides those already mentioned is dhacker's April 5th nightly of CM9.
I obviously haven't been using it for long, but it has so far has a pretty consistent data connection.
DroidHive -> Downloads -> Bionic -> CM9 SELFKANG BIONIC ICS
I've been running CM9 Unofficial since it dropped. Currently I am on 04-04 and have had stable data and WiFi since I flashed it. HW accel and video are the only things really missing for me. Give it a shot.

thats sounds really nice. so theres CM9, and CM7.....wheres 8??
but a link would be helpful.
i just want something super stable, that will work with safestrap, and will be getting updated frequently, i like having all the bugs worked out, and having cool new additions
because i liked the option of going into recovery upon each boot.
and is anyone using http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1527544 ?
i want a straightforward review of it. dont sugar coat it xD

i can see apple as first install install like nova launcher or apex and the "apple" is gone dude simple as that super customizable at that point.. just sayin' but do what you want..
I do prefer the AOKP ICS rom port over the CM9 just for the little details, but they're rather similar.
Being new to this stuff, I don't know what "Repo Sync & Build" means. But I've used the rom linked below, and in my eyes, it was merely the March 13th nightly of the AOKP rom port--also on droidhive, their latest is april 8th.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1527544
Both the AOKP and CM9 4.0.3 roms have the same bugs as mentioned above.
No HW accel. Games crash.
Video has issues.
Data is intermittent. I'll have rock steady data all day, but then the next day it won't work at all.

Is there any consensus on which is the most stable ROM with a solid 4G connection?

im with this guy.
even 3G
im using the one on her the repo sync and build ICS AOKP.
well, one thats getting updates like the ICS roms.
like is CM9 or the AOKP better?
or pretty much the same, but with one with 'rom controll"
hell, i wouldnt mind just a port of stock ICS with boss data connectivity.
oh, with the AOKP can i update between nightlys just by wiping cache and flashing, or do i need to factory reset everything?
I use eclipse 2.2 after using liberty for .901. I tried gummy but had issues.

anyone have a link for a stock 902 thats deodexed and flashable?
The Gummy ICS rom is VERY good and is only missing a working camcorder...and that's it. I ran it for days and ZERO issues, except for that. Eventually I just got too uncomfortable not being able to use the video camera and went back to stock. It just updated yesterday as well, but still no video recording:
http://goo.im/devs/TeamGummy/Roms/Targa
For that gummy ROM do you only flash that one, becsuse the Gapps are part of it?
no there is also a Gapps package for it as well....i'm sure its on their site.
I did not see it unless it isin a different slot than the ROMs. A link would help

Im thinking about gettin the droid4

I have the droid3, thinking about getting the droid4. I see that ICS has leaked, why don't the custom ROMs have full function yet then ?
There are a few reasons:
The leaked ICS builds have only been out for about a week.
The primary Droid 4 AOSP developers (i.e. Hashcode) work on ROMs for multiple devices and only have so much time.
The current ICS ROMs are based on the D4 Gingerbread kernel. There is a new kernel in the leaked ICS builds and the ROMs will likely have to be modified accordingly.
cool man thanks. you think it will be updated fully soon ? are there any major hurdles that would have to be jumped?
Hash code is working on a d4 ics version of safe strap as well as an improved ics rom. I am not sure on the specifics of which one or if its going to be all or a totally new rom based on the leaks. the big difference is everything will work, hardware acceleration, face unlock and basically what does not work in the current roms. I would say in about a week or less we should start to see the ics based roms getting pumped out.
Sent from my DROID4 using Tapatalk
yeaaa awesome. Hash is the best furreal aha. If he makes all the features i know the AOKP rom (fully functional) will be made by someone eventually. thanks for all your help
I would totally upgrade. I had both as well. Screen is better. Keyboard is better. Form factor is better. And it is getting official ics

I just recently upgraded to the Droid 4 from the Droid 3. It looks and feels better in the hand though there is allot of extra bessel which is kinda annoying (atleast to me) to look at.
Though the new keyboard is sweet, the new shift posistion still messes me up. Plus it's going to be supported more than the Droid 3 because it has 1 gig of ram (official ICS ) and it's 4G (So verizon approves)
4G has been great, so has been playing games. Haven't tried the GPS yet.
So yeah, its worth the upgrade.

[Q] Recommendations for custom ROMs? informal poll

Fellow M7WLS users.
Overall the phone has been a very fun and solid piece of equipment since my upgrade a few weeks ago.
I've been on CM 10.1 for 2 weeks and it seems to be polished enough to use as daily driver for me. GPS, Nav, most apps seem to work.
I am sure there are reasons for the lack of nightly updates for CM 10.1, but it has been frustrating since it has been a while since any changes... My other devices on cm 10.1 have been getting updated daily.
Does anyone have idea why the changelog page is no showing any logs? used to be this link: http://10.1.cmxlog.com/?device=m7wls
Also, Cm 10.1 page under original android development is filled with cricket sounds.
I am tempted to jump ship to other, more active custom roms (suitable for daily driver use)... any suggestions?
Sense or Aosp???
Slim bean dropped and it's actually official was rocking it for a few days pretty solid and as far as sense goes all the roms are prettymuch stock with tweaks a little theming here and there besides Tranquil is totally decked out but I'm currently running Team D3RP ROM desensed "Bareback"
I would just go on a flashing frenzy
