[Q] G-note with gophone is good? - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi
I'm thinking about buying G-note Uk version.
Actually, i thought about gophone but somebody said AT&T doesn't let us to have Gophone service with G-note. Is it true?
second of all, if i get a gophone $50 Monthly Unlimited Plan, does it include not only talk, text but also data as well? i mean if i choose $50 calling plan, i have to buy data plan extra $25 for 500mb on the top of calling plan?
third of all, Do you satisfy data internet speed(is it 3G? or HDPA?)
last, you just pay $50, no tax? just pay $50?,
does anybody have G-note with simple mobile?
Thanks buddy...have a good night.

[Q] nexus one+voip in usa?

Hello,
I have a problem to solve, here is the situation:
next week i will go to the usa for about a month. i have an unlocked nexus one and need some data plan to connect and to use voip to call family/friends. do you know if t-mobile data plans (i want to use 3g and i think that n1 works only with t-mobile) will work with voip, or is it blocked completely?
budget: $50/month with no termination fee...
thx for all the help.
There are two versions for different radio bands, one for t-mo one for att. I don't think either provides prepaid data cards.
As evilkorn pointed out, you do need to figure out what radio bands your nexus uses.
Tmobile Radio-
If it's tmobile, then it will be fairly simple to do, but it will cost you $60 a month, with no contract. Tmobile offers two kinds of plans, one with contract, and one without. The one with no contract is called "Even more Plus". For $60 you get 500 minutes, unlimited text and 5GB of data. Here's the link: http://www.t-mobile.com/shop/plans/cell-phone-plans-detail.aspx?tp=tb1&rateplan=Even-More-Plus-500-Talk-Text-Web
AT&T Radio-
If it's AT&T, it will be tricky. You'll have to get an Ipad plan, which is $30 a month for 2GB and no contract. You then change the APN settings on your nexus to match an Ipad. Here's a link to do that: http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/android/thread?tid=177297ea7cd4781c&hl=en
But to get an Ipad plan, is very tricky. You'll have to use the method suggested here:
http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=928196
Since you aren't from the USA you'll have to go to an AT&T store to buy a SIM, instead of ordering it like they suggest.
Hope this helped and good luck!
thx for answers!
i have got tmobile freq nexus one (so it works here in europe)
shouldnt the data only plan be sufficient? tmobile's Even More Plus Smartphone Unlimited Web & E-mail or Even More Plus webConnect® Overage Free Plan? or i need to have plans with talk minutes which i dont need at all...
It appears you could use one of those (I'm on At&t and not to familiar tmobile plans), but I didn't even think about there being an activation fee. So even with the $39.99 data only plan, you would still have an additional $35 activation fee.
You could try calling tmobile and tell them your only going to be there for a month, and if your lucky they might wave the activation fee. After signing up over the phone (because there is pretty much zero chance they would do this in a store) you could then go pick up a sim in there store.
Let us know how it works out!
T-Mobile has a $40 data only plan as well.

Anyone has Vivid on att prepaid plan?

can I get the prepaid data plan with vivid, not the LTE plan?
Yes, you can... But not the regular all included for $50 plan.. you need to purchase the separate smartphone data plan.. and the rates on that are pretty expensive

[Q] Why wouldn't everybody in the US chose the GoPhone Plan?

A little confused. Given the fact we do NOT have LTE and won;t be getting it until late 2013 (or maybe don't need it) Why not just get s $50 unlimited everything GoPhone plan?
What am i missing here. I am off contract and thinking of calling ATT and putting our shared 700 min $15each MediaNet, no messaging at $100 a month on two $50 unlimited GoPhone plans. We would gain messaging and unlimited calling.....That is a huge benefit for the same money.
I don't see the disadvantage to this other than not getting subsidized phones..ATT already does not recognize our i9100s and offer the SGS II on their GoPhone site so our SIMS should work..Seems to me all ATT has to do is pull a switch and transfer out account to a prepaid account. The it would not matter which phone we use..(maybe iPhone is a no no though)
So what is the downside? We still would get the same MediaNet 3G+ data I think. IF ATT saw pour phones and changed our plan I would change anyway to the GoPhone .

Cause it looks like you have to buy a smartphone package along with it in order to have data on the phone. For 500mb a month that adds an extra $25 a month and that is the max you can get. So yeah that's probably why

[Q] Best deal Prepaid 3G plan

Hi guys,
i learned that the Prepaid Straight talk At&t sim 3G is limited from streaming videos.
is there a good alternative prepaid U.S. Carrier that offers a good deal of data plan?
Though the regular prepaid At&t 3G ($25 for 1 Gb) is good however I would like to know other alternatives prepaid carrier that is compatible with international galaxy note.
I'm on the $50/month unlimited everything GoPhone plan on AT&T, unlimited (uncapped, full-speed HSPA+) data (!!!!), unlimited texting (international texting, too), unlimited minutes, etc. It's more expensive than what you're looking at but the value still beats any other carrier in the US, especially because the service is so good
is the GoPhone 3G data compatible with the Galaxy note N7000 (international version)?

I looked up the Webpage of Gophone phone plans. and under the column of $ 50 unlimited plan it says it is unlimited however I can not understand the footnote below.
"Smartphone users must purchase a data package to use data services on eligible plans. Pay–per–use data is not available with Smartphones."
Does that mean that the prepaid $ 50 unlimited plan has another separate internet data price?

the international note's imei is not in att's u.s. database as a smartphone, it just shows up as "samsung phone" when they hook it up. therefor, you can get the "dumphone" unlimited data plan on the int'l note without paying the extra $30 smartphone fee. i've been using it for three months, it's brilliant.
i created a walkthrough thread on how to set it up awhile back. check that if you are interested in going this route.
Straight talk is the best option. $45 a month. And some months I have went over 4.5gb with no problems. With a consistent speed of 5.3+ mbps at any given time. And that includes streaming video.

Thanks Cwininger,
1. does the dumphone unlimited plan include a 3G video streaming?
2. what is the cap data limit of your plan?

will tmobile still pay VZW termination fee?

I'm currently grandfathered into VZW unlimited data and I'd like to keep it but nobody else on my fam plan wants to resign a 2yr contract so I cant transfer my upgrade to them to get a subsidized n6. I'm wondering if the tmobile $30/mo plan will pay my early termination fee if I use my upgrade on vzw to get a n6 and try to immediately switch to tmobile $30/mo plan with a new n6?
The $30 plan is prepaid and I doubt they will buy you out for that.

^This^ In order for them to pay off your ETF, you have to sign up for a post paid plan. On top of that, you also have to trade in your current device to qualify. So I doubt you would be getting the full amount back for the N6 from VZW only to buy another one from T-Mo. Not sure if you come out in the red or green though, as it pretty much all depends on how much they'd be giving you for your N6 from VZW.
Thanks for the info. Gotta figure out what the best plan of action is to get the N6
If you know someone on TMO, do the refer a friend thing! I'm on a $50 unlimited everything plan right now because I used him as a referral.

that only lasts 1 year then back to full price though right? like $80~/mo for unlimited everything and have to buy phones at full retail, correct?
I'm grandfathered at VZW for about $50mo with unlimited data. Only reason to switch for me is if I can get a plan cheaper than $50 to make up the price difference of paying for a full retail phone.
I think the new nexus 6 will support all the carriers so the vzw should work on t mobile. It would be like bring your own device instead of trading the phone in. I would wait till the spec from version and t mobile are fully released.
