Updating ROCKET ROM - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi dudes,
Is there anyway I can update my Rocket ROM v17 to v18 without completly reinstalling it.
what I mean is that I don't want to loose any of my previous datas..
PLEASE HELP....

Its a no wipe update isnt it?

Yes it is no wipe. Updated mine from v17 to v18 and did not loose anything. Only thing that changed was my screen dpi it resetted back to 320 from 240. Set it to 240 again and launcher and all still the same no issues.

I had issues with V18. I did a full wipe before upgrading from V17.
Installed twice. Took me about half a day overall to bring everything to normal.
However.. Antutu and Quadrant was freezing constantly on me.
Tried all the suggestions there. I guess i'm not that good for it.
I'm back on the stock ROM with a custom kernel and I love it

[Q] F1 Custom Rom problem

Since I'm a new user and can't post my problem on the development thread i'll post it here.
I recently installed the F1 custom rom Wipe V6, installation went smoothly now I'm faced with the problem that I can't change the default wallpaper. I've tried changing it from the gallery, from the settings menu and also tried installing a different Home app (Launcherpro) To see if that would fix it.
I'm out of ideas and any help would be amazing.
Reflash.

I'll leave this as my last choice, unless you mean just reinstall the custom ROM?
reflash = reinstall rom

Help: My phone always hangs and freezes. Is there a solution?

Hi,
Im on gb 2.3.5 xxjvt/ jetpack rom
Lately my phones keeps hanging and freezing. I always take off the batteries. Its been happening frequently and it's annoying.

Do you made a clean flash? Wipe, stock firmware, kernel, rom? If you did, try wipe everything. If this also does not help, i think its the best to reflash the the whole rom as mentioned above!
That only happens when you are using TouchWiz4 (that modified version for SGS).
Uninstall that and get something diffferent, say a Nova Launcher or even ADW.
Im using launcher pro.
I already did a clean install before. If i will do it again it will be my 3rd time. Is upgrading to ics will help?

Speeding up?

I'm running stock ICS rooted with Speed Mod. And day by day the phone seems to slow down. How to speed it up? Help please.
Sent from my GT-N7000
how did you install ICS?
Try in settings development option show processes and check which one are using your cpu. Then google on proces whats its related to, if you cant see immediately which app could be causing lagging.
Also, another possible cause, did you change governator?

Like baz said- see wich applications are running, and if they are some that you are not using- delete them. If they are system apps, you can remove them with System App Remover (needs root).

but Akilesh hasnt said he has no visible programs running. If thats the case, then install procedure probably was dirty, or kernel install was dirty. Or recovery from backup lol.
Also use newest versions

I'm on newest 4.0.4 with no much programs installed. Also what does a clean install mean? And i always stick to the stock governor.
Sent from my GT-N7000
Try using latest version of Notecore V14 my note even with using criskelo's rom its running alot faster. If your on stock rom you will need to download PC Odin and flash the odin version you will use triangle away to reset the flash counter.

[Q] [GB to JB and back]

Guys!!
i always appreciate the roms our developers make for us to enjoy our phone all the way more...but i know that JB and sumtimes even GB,not like JB but still lags/hangs/gets stuck..i mean i like the interface and all, of custom roms, but even the stock roms lag, and also in the end its about making calls and using watsapp, well atleast for me...!!!
So,
i wanted to know, is there any direct way install JB on my phone (like the nandroid restore) and as per my comfort, switch back to GB without the need do restoring everything (like we always have to do a factory reset and install all the apps again and restore every data again),
like can i use the nandroid restore to restore back to gb???
another thing is, suppose if i have a nandroid backup of my stock rom, and then i installed slim jb or galaxperia on my phone and want to shift back to stock...can i do the nand restore from cwm/twrp without thinking for a second (i.e. after doing the factory reset)???
From JB custom roms to JB stock, yes. If you have made nandroid backup, you can just restore. From JB to GB I don't think you can. You need to follow the downgrade procedures.
Thnx..and is there a way to get all my apps and data like they were before i installed a new rom
For eg: i have slim jb and want to shift to galaxperia...how can i without loosing the data and apps ( or without fact.reset)...i know i can use titanium but is there any other way of not even deleting them in the 1st place
Sent from my GT-I9070 using xda app-developers app
Well the reason for factory reset is to avoid any complications when switching roms..you can try flashing roms without factory reset but maybe there will be some problems. Therefore it is recommended to do so. As for backup, other that titanium you can just backup data using twrp but I prefer titanium
Guys thanks for the help..appreciate it!!
One more favor please...im currently on DDLK2 indian GB and im thinking of shifting to OmegaRomX by shaan....now i have made a backup of my stock rom using Twrp (system 552mb & data 826mb)..now as the procedure says i will factory reset before rebooting to Omega rom...
I want to ask, is it possible if i restore JUST my Data from backup, on Omegarom...i mean will i get all my apps and their data as it was...and i wont need to download it all again...
Will it work?will it cause any trouble??

Guys, gr8 news by sammy....maybe its old but i found it now...they have released jb (I9070ODDULP8) in india...does that mean its stable???
i am currently on GB...n seriously bored with this phone...are there any lags in using apps and mailnly opening the calling app...in short is it available for daily use!!!
or should i go for the latest russian version released, as russia was the first where jb was released and so i was thinking maybe it would be more stable!!!
you should go for the Indian firmware..it's very good.. battery life is awesome and practically no lags..

[Q] Strange issues on stock firmwares

Ok so I had gt-s5830 for a year and a half and flashed lots of roms, but a few months ago it started doing some strange things that never happened before (all of these are on STOCK ROM, I faced it with DDKQ6 and XWKTM because I usually use these two but I bet it would do that on every firmware because it never did it before):
- when deodexing with adb permissions in /system/app always set to rw-rw-rw- instead of rw-r--r-- and it makes possible to adb-push and use system app without rebooting but it never did it before (both kq6-ktm)
- when flashing cf-root 3.7 b84 by ketut everything is fine (except for the next issue of the list), then if I try battery extender (based on cf-root b83 that also cause me this issue) it changes su command's permissions (as it says titanium backup) to wrong ones, and even if I fix them it will causes problems like soft brick if I use mobile odin and slow restore from titanium (never happened before) (both kq6-ktm)
- still on cf-root/battery extender, sometimes wifi turns on but just don't receive any data, and when it does, mobile data will not turn on anymore and offline mode gets stuck, it sometimes gets solved with a reboot but not everytime (both kq6-ktm)
- some init.d script just don't work, like on dta2sd that says to me that I need to do an a2sd repair, then swap and zipaligning at boot don't work (kq6-ktm) or even project silk and similars
- when I try to flash slaid's gpu rendering patch my phone just don't make it to reach even bootanimation and I need to reflash the whole firmware
these are the main problems I'm getting that never happened before... is it normal so I can do something to fix it or my phone just need to be changed because is getting old?

dear friend:
i didnt read all the issues ,because they are a lot , so if facing all this , simply stop using stock , specially for our ace there are so many smooth roms like merge rom and nitrogen and cm10.1 modded by mardon , plus there are many perfect scripts to make your phone smooth like hell ,hope that i helped

The problem is the stock rom itself & not your phone. When you root your stock using upd_1.zip & you flash an alternative kernel to support init.d scripts, the root begins to act weird. All I can say is, root on stock is unstable for changes. You can either keep complete stock or you can just flash a custom rom. Or if you root the stock, you'll have to keep changes within the limits.

I've already tried lots of custom roms but stock has better battery life and lots of useful stuff for me so I'd rather stay on stock if I can find a solution.. Thanks btw

So do you mean I should root it with kernel itself to avoid problems? And could I change kernel after that or is it dangerous?
Also: with custom roms based on stock with battery extender kernel I'm getting the Titanium Backup error... What?
Thanks a lot

he means that if you root your stock ,you better not flash a kernel, it will cause some problems, and for titanium backup, before backing up or restore apps , enable andorid debugging in settings to avoid errors

But I always keep it enabled lol the error is about wrong permissions on su command
And if I flash it when I haven't rooted it yet?

EDIT: And if I don't flash kernels on stock rooted rom will roms like touchwiz 5 by Nathan still give me wrong su permissions error like it does now?

Well I just tried two scenarios:
After all cwm wipes
Flashed stock ddkq6 and just rooted it without kernels then deodexed and again wrong permissions in /system/app
Same with xwktm
Flashed stock ddkq6 only changed kernel and after deodex same thing again
It may be not a problem but all the issues on my first post start with wrong permissions in system...

Try a different root explorer. I'm saying this because I sometimes have strange issues with ES file explorer. Also as far as I know, su doesn't integrate well into the stock ROMs. Try freeing up some space in system by deleting some bloatware. Try using SD maid pro. Finally, try a fix permissions via recovery. Probably this might solve your problem.
