MIUI Mintberry is very fast
Here's the thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1350763
BTW, I don't think you've got MIUI on gingerbread 2.3.6, but on 2.3.7

Do you have to be on a froyo firmware to flash cyanogenmod7 and miui?
Thanks
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Yes, but more specifically froyo bootloaders. Miui does to as it is based on CM7. There are heaps of guides around that include instructions on how to go to Miui or CM7. This one explains how to go to CM7: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1101534[/URL
And this one for Miui: [URL="https://docs.google.com/document/pub?id=1ItSONRa9nzI7MKeKqwIdHCTRA3RRiOM_6LcJGnK4p6Y&pli=1"]https://docs.google.com/document/pub?id=1ItSONRa9nzI7MKeKqwIdHCTRA3RRiOM_6LcJGnK4p6Y&pli=1

Ezbase 2 is the best start point for a journey to cm7, why not try insanity cm? Come join the insane
GTi9000 insanity cm012/glitch
I will after I have used darky's for a.little longer. The roms I have tried are gingerreal and darky's 10.1. The roms I have tried are dark core and the one that came with gingerreal and I can't tell a difference in nh the.performance.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
I think I will stick with darky as I found that battery life is quite a bit better on gingerbread than froyo
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Yes, if you want to have a good battery life, you shouldn't use CM7 or MIUI. Cause if cmpare battery life to Samsung-based ROMs it's not so good (but it's getting better from day to day ).
So which other roms can I flash straight away which are gingerbread based other than darkys and gingerreal?

Just look in the 'Galaxy S Android Development' section.
Take a look at

Hey guys,
Whats the fastest rom out there without MIUI and CM? I really like MIUI but some things for me are missing.
My sister has a new SGS (bought in july 2011) and I got a SGS from 10/10. She is on stock, I'm on darkys and everything is faster on hers.
So I need the fastest rom out there without MIUI and CM.
Thanks in advance!

Tornado ROM for me. the best there is
If you want to stay stock, JVR put up some pretty good quadrant scores without any other tweaks when I was running it...

there's no stable ics rom for mini right now, there's beta, but still have some bugs.
but if you are looking for fully functional rom...try using emanon rom or any of the CM7.2 available (squad's or mebitek's or or subpsyke's or official)....others are not fully stable and especially the ICS ones are in development....so choose from the above mentioned stable ones....
or you can try cm7 official

You only need to look at this portal:
galaxyics.com
It is a unity of the greatest developer for our device (squadzone, Maclaw, bagnz0r, mikegapinski, tom3q, marcin1147)
You will not find anything better.

I've tried them both and even though Slim has some nice features I'd go with cm9 nightlies because it's an easier to use software straight out of the box in my opinion. And right now they're updating them every couple days that I found stability to be fantastic already, not to mention the great battery life.
Yeah i thing slim 3.3 is goox too but there to many ICS roms.

On my personal experience, where in i have used Teamhacksung, CM9, Onecosmics and now iam on Elite ICS 10.1.
The best is Elite "http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1575683"
with Midnight Hugemem kernel (BM Kernel MNICS-143LR),
which is provided with the rom in the "Actualizador" app the ROM provides,
plus flash this script "http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24723427&postcount=513" for getting the 720p recording to work.
Trust me, really good combination of ROM and Kernel, Very smooth and stable.
And About Slim, it lacks many things, which if u used any other ICS rom yu would know, and CM( is very unstable as for now, but sometime later is gonna be the best one for sure.
Try AOKP official. It's nice.

Yes aokp official best one.

ICS 4.0.4
After 5-6 trys of ICS Roms I found the best one for me.
It is "ICS EXTRAordinary 9/4/2012"

Hello Gang,
So I received a mint Galaxy Mini that was rolling around the office, and I want to do a custom ROM on it, little to no bloatware...something fast, and maybe a 5 icon touchwiz tray or nexus type. Any recommendations?
Cheers,
Paul

Official CM7 is slow. Try the new mebitek CM7. Much faster.
But I prefer CM9 by TheWisp. It's stable and it's battery life is much better than CM7.
Emanon v7 final
Jana Rom or New Experience are the best.

You mad bro??
cm7 is way more stable and is better battery juice savior than cm9/cm10.
And for the O.P.
as already said before try mebitek's latest cm7 build.
