[Q] Imprinted Markings on the Screen - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi All,
When I bought the phone it was enveloped with a sticking transparent cover (as the ones you find on new phones, at least here) and the sticker on the screen has the samsung logo and Wifi/GPS and stuff like that written on it. The thing is, when open the market or scroll down the notification, I can see the residue of those words and markings imprinted, granted it is hard to spot but very annoying.
I have been trying to capture a photo with my camera but didn't succeed so far. Anyone had this problem before? or any ideas? is it a permanent damage to the screen or those are residues that can be removed?

Haven't noticed anything like that, but I suggest you try to clean your screen.
For cleaning I used a PC LCD screen cleaning solution, spraying it on a soft, clean paper towel and rubbing the screen lightly with it, taking care not to let any liquid in the phone speaker holes or the home button. Afterwards wipe the liquid with a clean, soft, dry paper towel. Makes my screen shiny and clean as new.
If cleaning doesn't work, I suggest you get it replaced.

Ok I've managed to finally take a picture that shows what I am talking about. The white note shows the exact covers that was on my phone.
Notice the HD Amoled and the circle around it? that's the one I can still see when the screen is showing colors same as the one in the picture. I can also see (but couldn't take picture of) the words GPS, the Wifi logo and a circle (android logo) in the bottom.
any ideas? is that permanent? is there a way to remove it? people don't notice it on my phone, but since I know it is there, it's becoming more and more annoying

I didn't have those stickers on my phone...

Screen Problem - line on screen

Hello, I've had my diamond about a week, looked after it, no physical damage to it as far as i noticed...
but just been browsing and notice a small line about 1cm long across the screen only visible on light background, rainbow coloured. would this be a scratch underneath the screen? i dont feel any roughness on the outer screen. how would this happen, any solutions? cheers.

Same here...
Thats a fault with the screen, I work for a big TV company and that is the most common fault we see in our service centre! is it a green line? if so then its probably some dust on an internal connector, According to our engineers its easy to fix but invoves taking the whole screen off!
(this is how it works with TV's im pretty sure its the same with a phone screen!)
That's funny, I recently noticed the exact same kind of scratch on mine.
I can only tell with a white background though...
That happened to me aswell. Just do a soft reset, it worked for me .

We're not talking about the same thing here.
In my case, it's clearly a scratch considering I can see it with the device turned OFF under the right lighting conditions (and at a certain angle).
I can't tell if it's the screen protection or the actual screen that's damaged though and I don't really care to try to find out

screen defect?

I just got a tilt about a week ago and ive noticed that in the middle of the screen there seems to be a purple greenish tint when put against incandescent light. The size of said glint varies in size but i'm unable to see what changes the size. Not sure if its heat or pressure or something. The touch screen works perfectly its just really annoying to always see such an annoying glint.
An interesting discovery is that when i press all four corners of the screen it disappears and when i press in the middle of the little square it seems to spread out. I feel like theres some kind of material or something in the touch screen that is causing this due to pressure. I keep it in a hard case in my pocket so the screen isnt pressed on inadvertently.
I've searched the forum for any answers but i havent seen anything about it. Any response or help would be greatly appreciated. I'll try to get a picture of it up asap but i left my camera at a friends house and dont know when im getting it back...thanks in advanced

Do you see the same "annoying glint" under neon light (not day / sunlight)?
Lots of NOKIA and SONY ERICSSON phones for example get this screen recolorization under direct sunlight - this has nothing to do with the screen being defective but with the plastic above the screen which breaks the light and shows you this colored spots. If you can't see the same spot under direct neon light then this might be the cause.
It is normal that you get color changes while pressing the screen in. First of, you press / bent the protecting plastic and the liquid within the screen which causes the incoming light to break in a different angle, therefore the color changes. (BTW: you shouldn't do that too often, it can cause permanent stains on your screen!).
There sure is the possibility that your screen gets pressure from underneath due bad assembling! If you're still under warranty, try to get a replacement.
yeah you cant see it in day light. but i feel as though there is constant pressure on the screen between the plastic and liquid since the spot is always there and doesnt really go away (unless of course in daylight).
well im thinking im going to go back for a replacement. thanks for the quick answer!

Screen all out of phase and no color? quick fix at all?

well I turned my phone on the other day after letting it sit for a week, and its bassically all white screen but still has a little bit of the blue range, and the letters and icons and such looks like a screen thats out of tune.
when I go to boot loader for the red ble green white, its completely white except where it shows in blue/purple the boot loader information.
anyone know if I can fix this or do I need a new screen?
I also took the thing completely apart thinking it was a bad connection but nothing helped when I put it back together, also have tried another os to the same avail
nobody has ever had a screen problem?
Man, is that sig pic safe for work?
You might need to reseat the lcd screen cable/ribbon.
Well I took the phone completely apart but did not wipe all the contacts like a doe doe, look like the ribbon cable has some scratches on it but doesn't look like anything is contacting metal so I tried to mend it with electrical tape and I still have the problem, looks like next I'll take it apart again and use some alcohol on it.
and yes its safe for work haha most places block it off
i read somewhere here on xda that if the screen's colors are out of whack, it is recommended to REMOVE the battery and let the device sit for a few hours/days.
then put the battery back in and see if that fixes things up...
thanks guys I'll try the second advice tonight I've just left the battery in and havent taken it out for more than an hour so far.

[Q] What happened to my screen?

Hey guys,
I recently bought a Samsung Galaxy S i9000 and the Amoled screen has some serious issues with colours. It appears that the red part of the screen is messed up and cannot display any true white anymore. This happens in download mode, recovery, even in a custom ROM. It's definitely hardware. This video should explain it:
Yes, this phone is pretty much screwed, and the home key is no longer functional at all now. However, I've fixed the rotation sensor issue, and I've thought about repurposing it at a remote for my XBMC media center
Firstly, has anyone seen this issue with the screen before, and secondly, has anyone fixed it? It may be an internal connector which is loose. Suggestions would be good, otherwise I'll just have to put up with the annoying blue tint.
Cheers!
Anyone? Is this more likely to be the panel itself or a cable? Wondering if it's fixable or maybe the connector could be corroded...
Take it apart, remove the mainboard, and clean the board with Isoprophyl-alcohol. Its a 70% alcohol, here in germany you can buy it in a pharmacy. I use a paintbrush to get electronics clean safly.
And also clean the connectors that go from the phone to the board with the alcohol. I suspect there is some kind of water damage in your phone. Samsungs are realy *****y when it comes to water. Even sweat sometimes is enough to cause problems.
To take it apart you only need to remove the 7 screws under the back cover, pull of the back and the board is just held in place by the connectors.
Try youtube if you get stuck. There are some Galaxy S disassembly videos.

[q] how does the screen work?

my galaxy ace had dust under the screen. to remove it, i disassembled the phone. I removed the dust between the glass and the screen, assembled the phone again and booted it up. But know the phone does not respond to any touch.
to find out what the problem is i'd like to know how the screen works. I believe that when I touch the screen, this is sent from the front glass to the 'phone', which makes the screen show the according view. So when the screen does not respond to me touching the screen i'd have to look for a new glass or could there be another problem?
i''ve cleaned the screen with lcd screen cleaner (on both sides because there was a fingerprint on it on the back side). I don't know if there was some sort of layer on the glass which could be removed by this cleaner, which actually would be essential for the touch function.
i hope someone can help me. I'd like to use this ace for a longer time...

thanks! i've used that tutorial for replacing the broken screen my ace came with from my sister. I replaced it and then everything worked fine again. However ,after that screen replacement, there got dust under the screen which I tried to remove this afternoon.
The dust is gone, but the screen doens''t respond to anything now.
I'am wondering if i 'broke' the screen and I should get a replacement screen, or that i may have damaged the lcd screen (which is fine i think, it displays everthing perfectly). or maybe the glass is fine but some connector is defect (i've disassembled the phone again, checked everything and connected it again).
