I would like to list few problems that i encounter after flashing the ICS-beta3 ROM through nvflash to my dell streak 7...
1. on press the wake button, before unlocking if i press the wake button again, the tablet freezes.
2. Titanium backup doesnt seem to work
3. bluetooth doesnt work properly
4. trebuchet doesnt work if the persistent search bar is turned off
5. LED too doesnt seem to work
6. few apps seem to ve lost compatibility
All said... DJ_Steve et al are doing an highly commendable job... thanks guys!
People do share your experience with the new ROM, any bugs, cool features, work-arounds....
Netflix does not stream video, just audio
also my .wma files are not being played by the music player any more and the power led doesnt work too
Tried it today, looks promising. Interface is pretty and seems a lot faster and more responsive than honeycomb. I switched back to honeycomb only because video playback was choppy. Something to look forward to for sure.
Mad props to DJ_Steve and other people who are contributing.
As for the video thing use a app called mobo player get fro the market it's free and if you run in it you tell it run the video file in soft-decode mode. And the video and audio is great. No Mater what kind of encoded file I give to pplay.
indeed the build in action is snappy.
also i ve been using mx player for video playback, i find it quite good.

I just noticed something funny.
If you are listening to music using Windows Media Player on your mobile device (WMC_Shekhar) and you open up the camera application, it will speed your music up by 1.5x, 2x, without "chipmonking".
It seems to be due to I/O issues, both apps hogging the same resources.
Try it for lols. Get a rock song, one that you always thought would sound much more awesome slightly faster (like pop rock) and then open your camera application.
Many lols will be had!
Yeah..i have also noticed this ..its been like this since WM 6..You wanna know some thing else
When you are flashing the rom i.e Running the Upgrade Utility on your computer..first Open up WMP and play any of your fav songs..the Upgrade will only take about 15 minutes..I have tried it,shekhar, buzz all have tried it
Wow, that is truly bizarre.
I will have to try it, thanks for letting us know
Video recording app now in the market, tested and works ok overall but no sound. To stop recording hit back button. Very buggy!!
watts da name of it
yeah it's working well.
very, very buggy mind you, alot of force closing but, hey, it works i suppose.
quality's not too bad but it's really slow, so as long as you keep still it works fine
i'll get a little video uploaded to show you.

Been trying to find it myself, all it has in the program file is a bunch of blank pics! Man its a start but buggy as hell!!!
on the website it says there's gonna be an update in the next 2-5 days so lets hope the bugs get ironed out. also i'd quite like to see more stable recording and sound
but maybe i'm asking too much
Interesting. Pity about the bugs and no sound, but it's a start, which is very good.
Good start. Bring on the updates.
Keeps asking to update! very annoyin
i saw this app today, for some reason decided not to download it
but its a "good" start
hope to see this being updated constantly.
How could u not even try it out .
I grabbed it as soon as physically possible.
It needs a lot of work.
And yes, MJPEG
Really needs some work haha.
EDIT: I just realized that my post has a lot of smilies
Update Released!
New update with a much cleaner interface. The videos are stored(i use this loosely) onto the sd card in /.org.android7/videorecorder. Uses about 16m for 10 seconds of video. The audio works as long as you also have the VoiceClient installed, it's not very loud but it's there.
After opening the app press record to open the recorder window(your not recording yet) hit menu-record to record and the same to stop recording.
I'm curious how the recording is working? It would be nice to at least be able to re-assemble the recordings on my machine.
In the video folder there are two file types blah.3gp [16kb] (appears to only be the audio) and a group of blah.jpg [~225kb] images (tho these are not viewable even on my pc?) any ideas?
The videos it makes are not viewable on any of the other viewers on android either. (the only thing it's really missing)
Well, it seems to get better with updates.
2 things i realized...
1) When you replay a video after you record it, it plays like its on fast-foward or 2x.
2) If you delete a video from your phone, the video gets deleted(Why is 30 seconds of recording 32 Megs by the way?) BUT the audio files from the video(which the file type is .jpg also, weird?)stays in the anroid7.org folder so they never really delete, you have to manually go in there and delete them when you USB to your comp.
Either way, i consider the effort and applaud him for the first video recording app of its kind on the android OS, i see potential in the future.
built-in video player?
I'm confused.. I know g1 doesnt have a built-in icon for video player but i just noticed that i can open a video file using an astro file manager (unless astro has a video player itself).. it has an auto-rotate function too and looks like the Video Player in the Market.. hhmm.. And currently, I dont have any video player program installed in my G1... Can someone clarify this?
Ya, I've tried rebuilding the 'video' into something useful. The Audio file name is xxxxx.jpg.3gp (amr i believe) and the images 225k each ~2/sec don't appear to actually be .jpg, nor can i get them open with .gif .bmp .jpeg .png as extensions
this is on windows, maybe they'll turn up something more promising on *nix.
I quit testing this.
It's not encoding nothing only take fast pics and save de audio on 3gp format.
It's good to see that we can take pcitures so fast because this show us the real posibilities with this cam on HTC G1.
Google has to build something using the internal h264 posibilities of decode/encode(i guess) to encode the pics and audio on real time(too heavy processing ?)
Till that time....just wait and see
It CAN.
WinMo guys did.
Prove me wrong.
HTC Touch Diamond T-mobile G1
Main specs:
Qualcomm MSM7201 CPU Qualcomm MSM7201 CPU
192 MB of RAM 192 MB of RAM
3.2 MP Camera, no flash 3.2 MP Camera, no flash
OS: WinMo OS: Google Android
Videorecording:
352x288x30fps None.
So:
1) It is definately technically possible.
2) Hey, WinMo does Android, the open source, WTF???
Where's Our Video Player?
Does anyone remember TCPMP / Core Player on WinMo?
Why can't we have that satisfaction on our G1's???
Is it the hardware-decoder thing? Is it OTW?
Anyone know what's up?
There is a video player, It's called Video Player....
Hey guys, If I'm in the wrong area, I apologize.
I was wondering if there was a better youtube app for the HTC Fuze. The native youtube app, and the google youtube app are nice, but they do not play the full range of videos available on youtube, (ex. try looking up the music videos for "What you got" by Colby O'donis, or "Dangerous" by Kardinal Offishall, forgive my taste in music). You will not be able to find the music videos for these songs like you would on a desktop computer.
I've tried Coreplayer, and WVD player, but they either take a really long time searching or there is great difficulty finding videos.
I know this sounds funny but I'm quite surprised that there is difficulty for flash videos on winmo. I have a psp, and the youtube app is amazing (you also have the ability to go to other video hosting websites). Is there a youtube app that is equivalent to a desktop computer or the psp?
Thank you for your time.
ive been a bit dissapionted also in the phone because i tell everyone how much better the touch pro is than the iphone and then it cant do high quality youtube videos. please someone prove me wrong
if you go to the settings icon at the top and hit high quality instead of fast speed they look pretty damn good....
Yeah but if you're running a stock ROM the video skips because it can't process or keep the video and audio in sync..don't know what causes the problem. Not sure if that happens on cooked ROMs though
Have you tried coreplayer 1.3.2 youtube section after pressing views. It has settings out the a**! Hi,Lo,3g,FLV,H264 720p. Beautiful!! Try that if you havent!
But coreplayer is a commercial app, it is not free
btw I tried this software but was unable to make it work for youtube, it never finds anything...

Coreplayer works great...mine finds and plays youtube all day long. Commercial it is but its worth it....
dont know what the problem is but i can find the songs you name just fine. for both songs i get a dozen results. aswel through 3G as wifi. altough i cant select the high quality or fast download option cause there is no option menu anymore in my version of the youtube app (dont know wich version btw) but it was already in my rom
I love my Xperia X1 so far. Mostly good things, but some issues:
1) Video playback very choppy = no solution (same: http://www.inxperia.com/forums/xperia-x1/281-xperia-x1-will-not-play-video.html)
This is heart-shattering for me. I have my anime that watch @ breaktime at work and couldn't believe that there's no decent video player (TCPMP doesn't work with X1 + coreplayer has no video acceleration and is choppy as hell). Windows Media Player works, but the interface sucks compared to TCPMP/Core and doesn't support a lot of formats. Having to convert each video by hand with SUPER isn't a viable solution for me.
2) Buzzing sound during phone calls(same: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=4219836#post4219836)
3) My last phone was a SE W810i. I have a Plantronics 520 BT headset and it does NOT search and connect with the 520 when it's in range. I have to manually press the button on the bluetooth headset after I reset my device/turn off > on BT to "pair" the headset to my phone. Please, is there ANY way to prevent this behavior? I just want my phone to find my headset, connect to it, and stay connected. It's difficult to let go of this behavior since my previous (inferior) SE phone did it perfectly.
Have you tried updating it to a new ROM?
A custom ROM perhaps? I'm using Valkyrie 2.9, and it is very good at playing high quality videos---and I have not noticed any buzzing problems with a call.

Hi Fuzalert2K,
No, I haven't tried a custom ROM. I've been mostly scared of bricking my new gadget. I've done them before on my Axim X51v.
RE: high quality video playback -- how is that possible? What video player are you using? Did you compress in a special format? I was under the impression that unless you used WMP/formats compatible with Windows Media Player, videos would run choppy on the Xperia no matter what; this is because there's no compatible video player that accessed the graphics driver.
Can someone clarify this? I would gladly flash to another ROM if it meant video was fixed I use Coreplayer. Unfortunately, TCPMP didn't even run (both confirmed problems on XDA)
Shameful Bump. Can anyone confirm this? Will a hacked ROM solve the video choppiness problem?
try to update to via seus maybe u dont have R3A... im using custom rom and dont have problem with video also... and for video playback i use core player or windows media player or media panel...

I'm running a High Resolution video on my Xperia using the Xperience Panel. The Xperia handles MP4 videos without much problem..
I highly recommend you "hard-spl" your phone,
then flash it using the micro-SD method.
I have flashed my phone a little over 50 times, without the slightest hint of anything going wrong.
If you want a new interface (TouchFlo 3D), I suggest you use Valkyrie 2.9 FS, or if you don't, then go for Valkyrie Xperio. Both roms are created by agent_47 under the Xperia ROM development section. They are really fast. You can also enjoy high-resolution youtube videos!
Hi guys,
Yes, Windows Media Player does fine because it has the graphics acceleration drivers, but because HTC did not release the graphics driver chipset software, so there is no hardware acceleration for videos on Coreplayer or anything else except for WMP. How in the world are you guys not having this problem? Legions of users on XDA/Coreplayer forums are having the same problems. What FPS are you guys getting?
Also, does TCPMP work on your Xperias w/ custom ROMS.
I think thinking of trying the "Valkyrie XPERIO". I want a minimalistic ROM built for 1) Stability 2) speed

Well, I don't use coreplayer.
What is wrong with windows media player anyway? (Is the one in the Xperiance Panel?)
I do think I'm running at least 25 frames.... not much lag.

WMP does not support a variety of formats, doesn't even come close to the configurability, ease-of-use (once configured to one's own preferences), updated frequently, and overall much better than WMP.
I'm very interested to hear from people who run custom ROMS -- does Coreplayer experience the same lag as before?
Shameless bump. Anyone?

I tried a custom ROM -- Touch_X_10_1_X_TREME_BLUE -- a favorite on XDA.
Wonderful improvement over OEM, but alas DID NOT FIX video choppy problem. Whoever states otherwise is either mistaken, lying, or has ridiculously lower standards as to what constitutes "playing video" on the Xperia. I can't even get watchable rates with coreplayer. WMP works if it has a format compatible with it. Stuff like Dattebayo's Bleach (AVI)-- don't even bother.
It really sucks that HTC won't work with Coreplayer's devs to open up and give them the ability to add video acceleration. Stupid HTC

Try another custrom ROM such as energyrom or valkyrie. I myself do with these roms and they are pretty good. By using coreplayer i can watch most kinds of video format (except realplayer format : .rm,.ram...) without any lag (WMP does). So just try, it's safe & fun.
I will try valkyrie and install it very carefully using RUU method (direct microsd method doesn't work for me).
Unfortunately, I just don't see how a custom ROM solves the video lag problem. Can someone post a video of coreplayer playing dattebayo's bleach episode 233? (http://www.dattebayo.com/t/b233.torrent)
On my X1, it plays, but is choppy; choppy means that the subtitles are not smooth and jump around.
Here it is folks, on the market, yxflash, Check it out!
Its about time!
Believe i had this running on my 2g iPod touch. Currently doesn't playback videos smoothly, but hey, it's a start ^_^
didn't seem to work!
Worked for me, but some pauses in places and lag on the DivX moivie I tried. UI very rough. Pause/Play only in portrait mode. No menu options either while playing. Not worth paying for yet...more of a beta version.
Doooh....pauses after 2 mins because not registered! Still, UI needs work!
works fine with some glitches but 15$ for full version is insane
i'll stick with my encoding my videos
hi
how you get full version ? i havent tried this yet ... anyway besides this does anyone know when there will be an actual divx player available or is this the only one there is etc
Heeeeeeeeeelp,
can somebody help me please???????????? how can i install it?
shudnt be there more apps with an open source operating system?? :S

Market->Search->xyflash->Install ?
does it support .srt files for subtitles?
It's still pretty poor! Very laggy and crashes occasionally.
Does anyone know of any decent video player for Hero
Can't wait for Coreplayer to be released for Android.
doesnt show up when I search for it in the market
I couldn't see it either when searching on Market, but it did come up when I searched for "divx"...
go figure...
Can anyone tell me wot the performance of this app is like on the HTC HERO? Can it play the standard 700MB movies you get off the net. 512x384 resolution etc or do you have to convert it to a lower res?
THANKS
It's ****ty. I tried episodes of 180mb, and it lags like hell.
Waiting for Coreplayer..
Lol
I thought something had finally come around that works when you resurrected this thread and I saw "finally a working divx...".
This player is aweful and you'd be best sticking to converting your videos.
full version doesn't work well too... still need improve before it can start charging. i done a crack for testing as request. it seem buggy & doesn't support all divx format. please do support paid version if you think the apps worth your $$.
On a similar theme, can anyone recommend a decent wmv player?
Or more info on iPhone/Zune/mp4 compatibility of the Hero?
Thanks
Phil
Plays for about 1/10 of a second then sends you back to the BUY section on 1.5......
