Sorry if this is the wrong section, it wouldn't let me post in the development thread so...
Anyways I was having issues with the GR- 12 Rom, whenever i make a phone call or try to the phone app crashes and my signal and data go away for a while then come back or i have to reboot. Does the same thing when someone calls me it just crashes. I've tried restoring back to stock, wiping everything and reinstalling it, still had the same problem. I tried searching the thread didn't look like it was a problem for anyone else. Anyone else have this problem or know the solution for it? Thanks
No problems these Rom is awesome.

you need to redownload gr-12, and put new phone.apk to system/app/

"these rom is awesome" while super helpful, is pointless, keep these posts in your head.
There are 2 threads you need to read, in android developement there is a gr-12 thread, read it, there's also a q&a thread for gr-12 in, funny enough, q&a, read it too, when you're done reading, then post a question in the q&a section. You'll find the same problem there and probably some help. Good luck

The intial release of GR-12 had issues with the call tones causing the phone.apk to fc. Either disable the call tones or redownload GR-12 since the current one has the fix.
thanks guys, ill re-download it and give it a try
had the same problem and it seriously annoyed me to figure it out.. ended up on continuum. problem solved
Hey,
If you haven't solved the problem yet (downloading the new gr-12 would help) but here's something else:
I was having this issue too, then browsed the gr-XX thread.
Go to page 193, and download the phone.apk someone posted from gr-11.
Use root explorer or adb to put it in system/app (delete the one there first, and in between the annoying fc notifications paste the phone.apk you dl'd there)
Haven't had a problem after that yet.
Okay so I've been hacking iPhones since the first one. I got my hd7 wen it was released. And I've updated to NoDo. Now...i realize this update kills chevronwp7. But I've been reading an reading all over this forum and its only half-clear to me. I have installed axebox and the update for HD7 rom unbranding. Problem: what rom do i need? There are so many and where do i get it?? I know i need the rom for the firmware before NoDo... I've been spending hours. Posting a thread is always last resort. Im not illiterate just not knowledgeable enough yet with this.
Thanks for any and all replies!
You'll first need to flash or roll back to an older ROM (either 7004 or 7008).
Then, you'll need to follow this thread

Oh and I just read about needing a "goldcard" and a special USB cable? Is this someones misunderstanding? I thought "goldcard" was an update to axebox.
I have the same problem
For example this rom :
[ROM][UPD]RUU_Schubert_TMOUS_1.20.531.01_Radio_5.51.09.11a_2 2.31.50.09_Signed
How do I know that when i install it It will flash or roll back to an older ROM (either 7004 or 7008) ?
i wanna get back to jailbreak my t-mobile device .

You may have to look for an unbranded rom since the HD7s for AT&T just came out.

Get on a PC and login to your windows live account and then check your contacts and see if they are there. When I first got my HD7 and set it up, it synched all my contacts. After I restored it and did the unlock and upgraded it, it synched all my contacts back and I didn't know it did and I ended up having all my contacts twice cause I had imported them from my similar card before realizing they had synched back from my windows live

Sorry for a quasi-hijack, but I too need help with flashing ROM's so it's highly related.
I've searched all over for almost a week, but I can't find an answer. How can you get into bootloader with unresponsive volume keys?
I've tried modding the registry entry for my phone so that I can move the HD2compatible EnterBootloader.exe files I found on this site on to my HD7, but they don't execute when I try to run them (I didn't really expect them to since they were compiled for WM6.5, but I tried all the same). Is there something similar for WP7? Or maybe does someone know how to launch the bootloader via code in an app (I have developer access to it)? I can't even hard reboot this thing without the volume keys working.
Thanks in advance!

Open up the phone and fix the volume button. Who wants a phone with a broken volume button anyway? You'll want it fixed.
but can't find an answer.... is it doable? Also, what other mods can I do to it? I wish XDA had a section for each version of the tab, I have a huge headache from trying to find my answer.... thanks guys
bump..... Please guys, help me out. I tried rooting last night but failed, guess I tried the root from a different tab... so please help me out... I'm getting ready to smash this thing

I just got a Galaxy Tab WiFi myself, but I did my research *before* I bought it. No Gingerbread is available, that I know of. There are not many alternative ROMs for the WiFi only model.
What did you use in your rooting attempt? The only two ways I know are with a Windows app or with z4root, an Android app. I haven't tried either one, here is a link to z4root on this forum.

SuperOneClick should be able to help you root your Tab.
Here's the Noob Rooting Guide with links and downloads.
Always do your research. The Development forums will be one of your best resources for your Tab.

No offense but if you're going to criticize you might as well not even comment to avoid any frustrations or arguments as a result. Thank you for the link, I was able to find z4 and lag fix yesterday.... applied both but i might roll back on the lag fix since I have no haptic feedback now unless anyone knows of a fix? I wasn't able to find anything on Google... wifi only tab and p1010 aren't too popular searches.

*sigh* waiting for this too..
****ty Samsung , is it so hard to just make an official Gb for this little tab considering the workforce they have at their disposal.
At one point I had heard that the Sprint stock GB (2.3.4) update worked on the Wifi only tabs, but I don't have a wifi only to test with.
I haven't heard of any alternative roms for the wifi only version.

EDIT: from other answers here the Sprint GB 2.3.4 ROM stock or rooted sounds the way to go, so it looks like this should work for you as it did for me on my Verizon CDMA tab.
It's hard to say for sure, experimentation is part of the fun, but killing the tab isn't. I didn't find any definitive answers on flashing a Sprint CDMA ROM on to a Verizon CDMA Galaxy Tab (for example), so I decided to try for myself:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1255339
I suspect doing a FULL ROM flash would be a *very* bad idea (it seems doing that with a GSM ROM on other (non-GSM) tabs KILLS it). However, the technique I used was only to apply the kernel and filesystems, so I would *think* if you had a backup from before (always best to have a backup anyway, right?) you could always revert. You may want to look around and check to see if stock WIFI images are out there (I don't know for sure) but the Voodoo or CwM (ClockworkMod) recovery backups should be fine either way.
Then if you apply the filesystem and kernel files from 2.3.4 and they don't work you should be able to revert (I would assume, I can certainly flash back and forth on mine). I would *think* the kernel supports vanilla hardware + CDMA additionally (i.e. you don't need it, but it doesn't hurt), but may be fine.
But again, unless you're prepared to take the risk, I cannot say for sure, you can wait and see if anyone else chimes in, but that's my take.

I have the P1010 also and from what I've heard, the two models (P1010 and P1000) have different hardware which makes the latter model possible for the ginger update while ours likely will never get it.
Enjoy it for what it is. That's all I can say.

Your problem is that you cant be bothered to go read or search and expect people to jump on your topic and bring all the info to you. This is XDA-developers, not tech support, try and at least help yourself first before demanding answers.

You can save a flashable ROM in the sdcard. Then if the tab got bricked, you can insert the sdcard in and reflash again. But i don't recommend doing this because me myself never flashed my tab, only my nexus one.
Hello there, guys! I've bought my Xperia X8 quite some time ago and I've always read about custom roms having better performance and stuff. After some months of both amazement and frustration, I've decided to give it a try: X8 is a great phone, but it gets slowed down frequently, not to mention the random reboots when I'm doing something simple such as internet browsing.
After reading a few threads over here, I've came up with a few questions to ask before continuing. Any help with these would be greatly appreciated!
1 - I've decided I want to give doixanh's GingerDX a try, along with his LinuxDX kernel, if possible. The problem is, he developed all that stuff using an E15i, while I have a E15a (I live in Brazil, and I understand that USA's basebands are used here). Do you guys know if that would be a problem?
That leads me to my next question:
2 - As far as I could understand from reading this and this, and that wasn't much, I can always flash the right baseband and my 3G network will work correctly... Is that correct? What should I do, if anything, to make ROMs made for E15i work in my E15a without running into 3G problems?
3 - I want to know if my phone came bundled with a Synaptics or a Cypress touch adapter. From reading here, I could either install doixanh's module or run that command line. I tried the command line, but it isn't letting me access superuser mode. Is there any way to find out my adapter without disassembling or rooting my phone?
I'm pretty sure I'll end up coming with more questions, but that's it for now. Thanks in advance
good question
great Q
anyway what baseband do you have. do you have xxx015 or a different one?
2: yes 3g needs to be on there unless ya got a pay as you go phone. 3g is an important thing to phones. its like petrol for cars.(well a bit like it anyway)
and i have had no problems on my x8 with the 3g so go for it but be careful.
things can go wrong if anything isnt flashed properly. im no expert @ linuxdx but i do use gingerdx myself.(v013 its never let me down)
now for the multitouch (yay)
you cannot have multitouch mods if your phone isnt rooted. if your phone isnt rooted then you cant install roms, kernals, basebands and other stuff like that.
if you phone is rooted then, what colour is your x8. is it black or white. if its black then check out a youtube vid that has all of the cypress tips tricks and that.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cZNqv5VQQBk
i await any reply
Thank you for taking the time to read my query, wiibso.
1 - My baseband is 015.
2 - I hear ya. 3G isn't only the blood and life of the X8, it is actually very important for me academically speaking. I really need it working, so that's why I'm asking. But my original question still stands. You're in England, right? Does that mean that you have an E15i, seeing as E15i is the European standard? If so, you having no problems doesn't necessarily mean I won't run into them, seeing as I have an E15a... What I need to know is if I'll encounter problems installing a ROM meant for E15i in my E15a, and if that hypothetical problem could be solved by flashing the right baseband in after that.
3 - I'm guessing that that means that I CAN'T know my adapter unless I root or disassemble my phone, right?
Again, thanks for the answers already given!

yeah, i live in England, installing the rom shouldnt be the problem, its gonna be installing xrecovery that really will get you stuck, lol it took me 4 days of xploring how to install it but eventually i got it and managed to get my custom rom installed. what i mean is technically speaking, as long as you have a sony ericsson xperia x8 things would stay the same.
you have baseband 015. your good to root you phone and do the stuff you want to do
A-3- yes you will need to root your phone to check wich chip or install multitiuch mods.
which brings me to my conclusion
conclusion: basically everything you said you wanted to do is all based on rooting your phone ....
