anybody tried the Incipio cases for the Vivid? - HTC Vivid, Raider, Velocity

Did a search and didn't see anything on it.
http://www.myincipio.com/HTC-Vivid-...CRYLIC-Hard-Shell-Case-with-Silicone-Core.asp
haven't ever owned an incipio case but I am looking to get something new because the Defender is just too big

Looks well made from the photos. If you are looking for a case that can be used with a holster, consider the Seidio Active.

I have seen that one but I seem to have a pet peeve about having the screen face inward in the holster
yes, completely irrational but I still have it. also, how bulky is it?

Not bulky at all. I think there is a thread that has user photos showing the thickness. I like the inward facing screen because it protects the screen. Good idea if you wear it on the hip. Seat belt buckles, a hostile work environment, preschoolers with steak knives. These things can wreck your phone.
You can't know your limits until you exceed them.

would it easily fit in a suit jacket inner pocket without being noticeable?

Certainly. They have maybe 3 different models for the Vivid. Check for them on Amazon.com.

Holster like this...

Anyone know of a holster/case like this, I don't like the big bulky leather stuff just want something small and like to clip to my belt.

This is slimmer than most other clip on holsters ... but the photographer of this ad image is stupid. Why? Well dude the Touch Pro is facing the wrong way on the clip. Seriously, how hard is it to know which way is the front and the back?

Umm, I think that is the correct way to holster the phone. It's holstered that way so that the screen will be protected from scratches and impact since it will be facing your body.

It's not a case, it's a holster, unless you're talking about a case with a holster clip. But this is a holster dude.
From what I see, the purpose of a holster is to be able to clip in on your belt so that you have fast access to the phone.

Exactly. If you wear a holster on your belt, chances are good that while walking around, getting in and out of your chair, getting into a car, etc., the holster and phone will bump into things. That's why you wouldn't want the screen facing out. Also, when you unholser it, if the phone is facing your body (as shown in the pic), it will be facing your face. Think about it. That picture is correct.

Holsters are an item of convenience and quick access. Cases are what are used to protect the screen and other parts.
BTW, with Seido and your configuration of the holster, you won't get enough convenience out of that. As of matter of fact, you're going to have to unclip the holster from the phone every time you want to use it or look at notifications.

I believe it is more important to enhance your performance than to protect your phone. In fact I think by having a convenient device you are more likely to be happy and to be productive. Productivity = more likely to get a job promotion for example. Job promotion = better money. Better money = upgrades.
Seriously those who buy chunky cases and covers are wasting their time and money and especially their comfort. Why buy shell/cases for your phone's exterior when it makes the device uncomfortable? After all we bought a luxury device. Just try to take care of your phone like a car. I mean seriously, you don't buy armor (analogous to cases for phones) for your car right?

You're free to holster the phone screen out. If that's your preference, go ahead. Most holsters are leather pouch types so the screen is protected whichever way it's facing. But with this holster, you will damage the screen more likely than not if you use your configuration. In any event, even assuming everything you said is true, it would come down to a matter of personal preference. You ridiculed the photographer, but there is a reason for holstering the phone that way as I have already explained. Yes, holsters are partly for convenience. But that doesn't mean everyone would be willing to sacrifice all protection like you. Besides, the primary convenience factor, which is being able to easily access and take out your phone (without having to dig in your pockets) still exists with the photographer's configuration.
Besides, in at least one of your links, the phone (Blackberry) is holstered with the screen facing in to PROTECT THE SCREEN.

Returning to the holster in question (the one posted by the original poster), have you bothered to read the product description? Here it is:
Seidio's Spring Clip Holster has been refined from years of customer feedback and advances in technology. A durable spring clip holds your device securely in place, and then lifts for quick access. Both the felt liner and the face-in design protect your screen from scratches and exposure to outside elements, and Seidio's signature soft touch coating provides a better feel and added grip. This holster can be worn in any one of seven different positions, ranging between horizontal and vertical.
- Spring clip lifts for easy access and removal
- Felt liner and face-in design protect the screen
- Rotating swivel belt clip with choice of seven angles
LOL you guys are too funny...I have had seidio holster for all my phones and love it, it protect it enough (screen faced in), its light and not bulky and easy access to the phone.
I'm looking at getting an X1 but I won't if I can't get a good holster for it. So far I guess no one knows?
I hope someone knows of one and posts up. I'd grab one too. (Although it almost sounds like it's illegal for a holster to actually help protect too.)

Otterbox cases

I've just got the Otterbox Impact case and i'm looking at the communter and defender cases, can someone tell me the differences between these three cases?
I'm thinking about if I should pick up the communter or defender.
thanks!
The otterbox website will tell you the differences surely?

The website describes the Defender as being a three layer protection but to be fair, the pictures show both the defender and commuter as looking almost identical to the impact case... as I've said in another thread (and for some reason there are several) it would be reasonable to expect the defender case to be somewhat like the on for the iphone 4 but he one for the streak doesn't look as good.
We need more and better pics
I can talk to the impact vs commuter. Impact is single silicone sleeve (comes with screen protector, but I didn't use). Commuter is a thinner silicone sleeve, then a hard shell that goes around that, leaving the silicone showing on the front ant 2 sides. Also comes with screen protector (the "3rd" layer of protection, but don't use).
The commuter also has plugs for the proprietary port at the bottom and the headphone jack, the impact does not. I'd be willing to bet the defender has plugs, for the iphone, it looked like the phone was completly enclosed to keep out dust.
I think (just based on how defender cases are for other phones) that the defender will be a hard shell around the ENTIRE device, with a silicone layer underneath, hard to tell in their pics...
The impact also has openings for the headphone and plug. What's different about that on the communter?
Yeah, it'd be nice to have the hard shell around it like on the communter.
Would be nice to figure out the difference on the defender... I don't know what the defender for the iphone looks like...

The commuter has plugs that cover the openings when not in use. The impact only has openings - always exposed.
So out of all 3, which one is the slimmest? I'd like to try one, but I don't want bulk. I keep my phone in my pocket, which usually keeps it in pretty good shape (as evident by my previous phones), so I just need something that gives me a slightly better grip and minimal protection.

From personal experience, the commuter slides in/out of my pockets MUCH easier than the impact. Main reason I got it. Size wise, seems almost identical.
Haven't seen any pics or reviews for the defender.
The videos below show the different types, although the Mighty Streak isnt the phone being demo'd, you'll get to see what the differences are...

Amzer Case is Junk!

I bought one of these for my wife's phone. It is the the Focus just like mine. I have the body glove case which is better.
The Amzer case fits poorly. Feels poorly made. It holds a static charge. For $ 10, it is a waste of money. Also, they show the picture of it having holes cut out for the buttons, that is not the case. The buttons are covered just like every other case I have seen (with my own eyes, not online).
I would not recommend this to anyone.
It seems that you got the wrong item as I ordered the same case and it is working fine. You may contact them.....
Yeah dude, I don't know what you're talking about, my wife already got her maroon red case and it seems pretty awesome.
Also, holds a charge? How do you figure that? Did you shock yourself? Did your Focus blast you?
Well, MY wife got her pink one and it sucks. Doesn't fit very well and holds a static charge. It is winter here in Indiana so static is an issue. MY Bodyglove case fits better and doesn't hold a static charge. Outside of the issue with the buttons on the Bodyglove case, it is a much better case. Maybe you don't have anything to compare it to, but it you tried other cases (better made cases) you would see that this case is junk.
Plus, it doesn't have holes cut out for the buttons like the pictures all show. Piece of junk for sure. All well, at least I only wasted $ 10.
BTW, I have talked to several people who have tried this case and they all say the samething. It is JUNK! Good luck with yours, you must have gotten the only 2 that actually are made correctly.
which amzer case are you talking about?

thanks

Looking for thin weatherproof case

I often work outdoors in quick drying cargo pants and carry my phone in a pocket against my leg.
For weatherproofness (I don't need full waterproofness) I just put it in a small freezer/ziploc bag which doesn't add any bulk to the phone but it takes a while to take the phone out of the bag when I need it and obviously it doesn't look great...
I've been looking for a similar weatherproof protection that would be more convenient without adding any bulk. All the cases I have seen so far seem a bit too bulky/heavy...
Any ideas?

Zagg maybe. Otterbox would be the better option the commuter would be the case with less bulk versus the defender. I have yet to find anything comparable and Otter is dragging their feet on making the cases because they think the note 2 is a niche product (but its selling out).
I think a cell phone pouch is enough for you. It can protect your phone without adding any bulk.
Otterbox, Trident be the only ones that come to mind. Like the above poster mentioned nether are in a huge rush to produce. For some reason they think thi Note II is a easy come easy go product that will just be gone before you blink. Ohhh how wrong they are.

A genuinely tough case for the beast

I know I don't have a lot of posts, but I've been a long time lurker and have been assisted a great deal by these forums(Hince the screen name: Got the original Droid X on pre-order).
I'm having a difficult time finding accesories for my new Note II (just received it Wednesday). I want to get this protected ASAP as this one will be with me for a long time. I need something that could give it a chance to survive a fall from a table to a concrete floor. Obviously I'll be as careful as possible, but I need to prepare for the worst.
I'm familiar with Otterbox, and while this was my knee-jerk reaction of a choice, I want something that might be at least a little different and maybe have a little style without looking like I'm going to a rave with how much neon is thrown on it. Plus I've read all of the reviews on the built in screen protector being garbage, and I don't want to be forced to buy a screen protector with a case that provides one because the built in one is garbage.
I saw that UAG is coming out with one, but their design is disappointing now that they went with the 'iPad' design as opposed to the iPhone/GS3 design (this would probably be my pick if they did).
I like the idea of the Sweet Armor case, but $70 is a bunch of money for a bumper. I have been looking around, and I think if I could find something like LunaTik's Taktik case, I would probably jump all over it.
Any and all help with a direction towards a case that will be tough enough to handle a warehouse floor and a toddler would be great. Thank you in advance!

I assume @rbiter is talking about the Complete Ultra dba case -- the ultra case is a normal tpu style case w/o the exoskeleton cross-member.
In that case (no pun intended) you can find a whole bunch of pictures/opinions from S3 owners of that case in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1919350&highlight=dba
I got it for my gf's S3 and she loves it.
She has never dropped the phone though.
I saw you mentioned that you don't want to go with Otterbox, and one of the reasons was that you didn't want to deal with the screen-protector -- that others didn't like.
Otterbox makes a "Commuter" case, that, unlike the "Defender", does not include the built in screen-protector, or come as a two piece install. But, it does come with a seperate screen protector. You can check out a thread here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2036565
However, I guess that doesn't solve the problem of "style"....
I'll agree there; the Otterbox line has become stale, but is still an extremely viable solution for protection.

Thanks for the suggestions Brad.
I had a Commuter on my Droid X. It may end up being the one I go with, but I figured there we be so much more of an evolution since then on cases for 'premium' phones. I wouldn't mind spending the money for a good looking case that would also provide superior protection. I'm not going the folio route because I just don't like the idea on a phone that I use as a camera regularly (work and home).
I've got the sweet armor case. It's disappointing. The GPS suffers a bit though I didn't notice a reduction in phone signal. 2 big disappointments were the feel. It has very sharpe edges which makes holding it uncomfortable and the top edge hurt my ear when talking. The second issue is it makes the phone wider which combined with the sharp edges makes the phone harder to use 1 handed. For the money it's not worth it at all.
Get the commuter. Best case in my opinion.

If i'm going with that, I have to find a Best Buy around me that still has one in stock. I have 2 Reward Zone Certs. I need to use. I may have to track one of those down or the Defender just as an expensive carry over until another one of the suggested is available.
I ordered my cases from amazon.co.uk and amazon.de since I live in Europe. They are also available in amazon.com.
