This is slimmer than most other clip on holsters ... but the photographer of this ad image is stupid. Why? Well dude the Touch Pro is facing the wrong way on the clip. Seriously, how hard is it to know which way is the front and the back?

Umm, I think that is the correct way to holster the phone. It's holstered that way so that the screen will be protected from scratches and impact since it will be facing your body.

It's not a case, it's a holster, unless you're talking about a case with a holster clip. But this is a holster dude.
From what I see, the purpose of a holster is to be able to clip in on your belt so that you have fast access to the phone.

Exactly. If you wear a holster on your belt, chances are good that while walking around, getting in and out of your chair, getting into a car, etc., the holster and phone will bump into things. That's why you wouldn't want the screen facing out. Also, when you unholser it, if the phone is facing your body (as shown in the pic), it will be facing your face. Think about it. That picture is correct.

Holsters are an item of convenience and quick access. Cases are what are used to protect the screen and other parts.
BTW, with Seido and your configuration of the holster, you won't get enough convenience out of that. As of matter of fact, you're going to have to unclip the holster from the phone every time you want to use it or look at notifications.

I believe it is more important to enhance your performance than to protect your phone. In fact I think by having a convenient device you are more likely to be happy and to be productive. Productivity = more likely to get a job promotion for example. Job promotion = better money. Better money = upgrades.
Seriously those who buy chunky cases and covers are wasting their time and money and especially their comfort. Why buy shell/cases for your phone's exterior when it makes the device uncomfortable? After all we bought a luxury device. Just try to take care of your phone like a car. I mean seriously, you don't buy armor (analogous to cases for phones) for your car right?

You're free to holster the phone screen out. If that's your preference, go ahead. Most holsters are leather pouch types so the screen is protected whichever way it's facing. But with this holster, you will damage the screen more likely than not if you use your configuration. In any event, even assuming everything you said is true, it would come down to a matter of personal preference. You ridiculed the photographer, but there is a reason for holstering the phone that way as I have already explained. Yes, holsters are partly for convenience. But that doesn't mean everyone would be willing to sacrifice all protection like you. Besides, the primary convenience factor, which is being able to easily access and take out your phone (without having to dig in your pockets) still exists with the photographer's configuration.
Besides, in at least one of your links, the phone (Blackberry) is holstered with the screen facing in to PROTECT THE SCREEN.

Returning to the holster in question (the one posted by the original poster), have you bothered to read the product description? Here it is:
Seidio's Spring Clip Holster has been refined from years of customer feedback and advances in technology. A durable spring clip holds your device securely in place, and then lifts for quick access. Both the felt liner and the face-in design protect your screen from scratches and exposure to outside elements, and Seidio's signature soft touch coating provides a better feel and added grip. This holster can be worn in any one of seven different positions, ranging between horizontal and vertical.
- Spring clip lifts for easy access and removal
- Felt liner and face-in design protect the screen
- Rotating swivel belt clip with choice of seven angles

LOL you guys are too funny...I have had seidio holster for all my phones and love it, it protect it enough (screen faced in), its light and not bulky and easy access to the phone.
I'm looking at getting an X1 but I won't if I can't get a good holster for it. So far I guess no one knows?

I hope someone knows of one and posts up. I'd grab one too. (Although it almost sounds like it's illegal for a holster to actually help protect too.)

Way too expensive and I think the Tough As A Nut case is a better way to go than that UMPC case. However, it is pretty fancy looking.
I feel the same way. I am now using the Vaja case for my new camera. I much prefer the slide in action of the Nutshell case and sometimes use the OEM case.
This is probably the best case considering ease of use, protection and quality:

I agree! In my mind that's the perfect case, just needs a nice belt clip like on the Nutshell. I've emailed them asking for options.
Update - I got an email from them and they will not put a belt clip on it, can do a shoulder strap, but I don't want a purse.

Im using a black pielframa case for my X7500 for a year now and all i can say is "its the best case for a HTC Advantage device" specially now it has a swivel beltclip from Covertec + I punched a reset hole on it using shoe lace hole puncher, i also used this apparatus in installing the Covertec belt clip system. To prevent the device accidentally sliding out the case, i put a velcro to make it sturdy.
Now Im more confident& happy carrying my device anywhere

PLEASE DON'T EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER carry your phone screen-out. I have a full-coverage holster and I still carry the phone screen-in (towards my body). It takes precious little to destroy a screen during daily usage.
Really really stupid idea for a holster.
yea I wish it went the other way but for 3 bucks it will do. I only really use it at work and I have a zagg on it. Im waiting for the otterbox defender series to come out so this was cheap solution tell then.

Personally, I like the Seidio Innocase Holster/Case.
http://www.seidio.com/holster.html
Carries the phone securely, face in, locks in place if you wish. Rotating belt clip. Ultra Thin hard case. Easily removable from phone.
The hard case is two sliding pieces that lock together. Not bulky but protects the phone just fine. Just separate the case by pushing the release on back, slide the bottom half off the phone if you use a stand up charger. Slide the top off and then the phone back to remove the battery if you wish.
Great idea, very easy to use, great phone housing protection and positive lock for phone. User selectable locking tab.
Bought two, one for me and the Mrs., we love em.

Otterbox Defender case

OK, the Commuter case is out for some time now but the Defender case is pretty recent.
Who hase one and is willing to share there comments or even better want's to write a review?
Here is a review witch is posted in the commuter thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6772033&postcount=46 Thanks Dunk001
I'm interested in ordering one, but since the price is a bit high i'd like to now more.
Picture of the HDII in the case and of the HDII next to the case would give a good impression of the total size increase.

Hi ET.
Ive had the defender case for about 4 weeks now and all I can say is ITS WORTH EVERY PENNY!..seriously
The phone is so much more rigid and feels like It can withstand a real drop! The screen film on the case has tiny pores so you can use the screen just as effectivly as you would without the case.
The rubber parts of the case are VERY thick, approx 3mm thick which protects the corners from almost any bumps and scrapes.
On the back the speaker is protected with what can only be described as a rubber membrane which allows sound to pass through as loud as it would be without the case. The camera lense is protected by the same film as on the screen.
The lightsensors on the front are still exposed so the screen powerdown in a call is not affected.
The button protectors are built into the case so there are no gaps between the buttons which prevents dust from getting between the buttons.
The downside to the case is it does add a considerable amout of bulk to the HD2. But my HD2 cost me a pretty penny and I am in NO position to even think of breaking it Also if the phone crashes and you need to pop the battery out is a bit of a pain to get open esp when your in a hurry!
Any questions just PM me or leave a post on here.
Hope this helps you.
It's not that I can't affort the defender case but I choose my case very carefully, it has to meet my demands I have alway's been using Pielframa cases wich are pretty expensive.
Could you please post pictures;
1. of the HDII next to the case
2. of the actueal screenprotector(s)
The HDII without any case is perfectly flat for smooth opperating the touchscreen, no upstanding edges, in the Defender case I notice that there seems to be an upstanding edge, does this interfear with smooth swiping over the screen (like unlocking the lockscreen)?
I've been looking on the web for a video placing the HDII in the case b ut couldn't find anything.
here are some pics of what someone else has posted http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7053061&postcount=88
I have this case and while it is a great case the raised edges oaround the screen do hinder the the swypeability somewhat, I use this case for when I am working or doing something more extreme, biking etc and for this it is excellent protection but i wouldnt use it everyday as I find it a little too restrictive for that use, I work with stone and so dust is everywhere all the time and for this it is the best for my purpose but maybe for everyday use the Commuter seems adequate, I will post some of my own pics when i get time as I can understand your questions on size etc...I would have like to have seen the same but in the end I just went for it. It even just fits with my bodyguardz protection still on which is a bonus!
In addition I would have to say what swung me from the commuter was the holster this is brilliant and a massive plus if you want to keep your phone to hand without fear of it getting crushed or broken

Kindly post close-ups as I'm interested in comparing Defender vs Commuter. I think Commuter will suffice for my application.
Ok, I bit the bullit and ordered one this afternoon, it will arrive next monday I hope. If nobody is willing to post pictures then I will!
I'll keep you guy's posted.
Ok, case arrived this morning and boy what a case! It fits perfectly and is nice to hold in in your hand. It does make the HDII feel bigger and looking at it, it does but it just looks and feels perfect, some pictures;
Some more pictures;
The protective screen is attached within the font shell, kind of a dust magnet but cleaning it first in the bathroom would work good (less dust in bathroom). The front and rear shell click in to place and then the rubber protective casing fit's like a glove.
Received mine just this morning mate! and it makes my hd2 more superior regarding the size! ahaha! it looks like it's the king of htc phones! The screen protector that is attached in the front shell is perfect, because of the dust magnet effect of it. Plus the rubber case covers it all and also the protection for hardware buttons is excellent! Worth the money and time of waiting! Sorry can't post pics now(i'm @ my office..) ahah!
It is really recommended to have one of this, specially if you want a secure $$$ phone.

Screen facing outside, beltclip is also 360 degrees rotatable.
What type of texture does the Otterbox Defender have? Is it a smooth/slipper texture or more rubbery/rough/tacky texture? Is the exterior texture prone to attracting dust/dirt?
What is the best way to clean the screen on the defender? WOuld it be prone to scratches or damage/tear?
IS the Defender easy to take apart if one had to remove the battery to reset or change?

rubbery/rough/tacky texture. not really a dust magnet, except for earpiece, it's not covered and become some kind of pit. search forum on how to clean the earpiece grid.
i just wash it. but i read somewhere "never wash it" because it got pores. it's plastic that look like it's prone to scratches, but apparently it's not quite. but if you carry it with your loose diamond in your pocket, i guess you can still scratch it.
took less than a minute the first few time, but you can do it blindfolded in few seconds after a while.
Everyone that's saw my phone on the defender case was amazed by it! this really is a must have case.. it is really worth it!

Video would be better
Got the Defender and (as you may have noticed in my previous scribbles) am EXTREMELY satisfied - though I just ran into my first qualm with it. I overly tightened a screw connecting the stylus cradle and created a crack in the belt holster. Completely my fault but I still think it's worth mentioning here.
Recap: don't tighten the screws connecting the pen cradle with the belt holster too much. My ratchet snapped (so hard I consider myself lucky to have been wearing eyeglasses, as a metal cog flew high velocity towards my eyes upon the occurance) and my belt holster now has a crack going through it's topside all the way through the plastic (still feels sturdy, just not as reassuringally whole) adjuscent to the respective screw placement.

have just bought one of these, it is awesome, best case i have ever had for any phone.

Hi mate! the OP posted pics of his Defender Case. Well, it's just the same. The screen protector was attached on the front face plate. Everything was covered except for the part of the light sensors. You'll get along with removing the parts for sure! At first it would really take you a few minutes before you can remove your batt just to reset the phone.

anybody tried the Incipio cases for the Vivid?

Did a search and didn't see anything on it.

Looks well made from the photos. If you are looking for a case that can be used with a holster, consider the Seidio Active.

I have seen that one but I seem to have a pet peeve about having the screen face inward in the holster
yes, completely irrational but I still have it. also, how bulky is it?
Not bulky at all. I think there is a thread that has user photos showing the thickness. I like the inward facing screen because it protects the screen. Good idea if you wear it on the hip. Seat belt buckles, a hostile work environment, preschoolers with steak knives. These things can wreck your phone.
You can't know your limits until you exceed them.
would it easily fit in a suit jacket inner pocket without being noticeable?
Certainly. They have maybe 3 different models for the Vivid. Check for them on Amazon.com.

Belt Holster for Note5 in a Otterbox defender?

Hello all
I'm looking for a soft material (leather, fake leather, canvas what ever) belt clip holster for a Note 5 that is in a Otterbox defender as well.
Hopefully the holster would host most of the device but still be easy to slip out and also would have a magnetic closing clip.
Basically I need to the Otterbox due to my environment, and tried it yesterday for the first time and it was great, but the clip on holster for it that comes with that I can see is not going to work.
For the one smartphone I had before it was considerably smaller but I had a holster for that, and in using both, I know that is what I need.
So does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks greatly for any help.

I use one of these, I picked up when getting an oil filter for my car, holds my note 5 in an otterbox symmetry, as well as a nexus 6 in a slim case, at the same time. should be plenty for the note in a defender

Hey guys.
Been a while since I made this post so I kinda forgot about it, but thought I would post what I did end up getting.
Got this off ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/371557478974?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT
Given its price as you can expect its not top shelf quality in materials and construction.
Basically for this unit I actually found one of some other brand that had a dif imprint on the front, but it was completely the same in every other way. So I guess point is, there is probably some cheap maker who sells to a few resellers.
Again the quality is not great and for both they had some bad assembly quality and in actually in completely dif areas. So guess my point is, is kinda a crap shoot as to what issues is might have.
But if its just a little off at first, funny things with these is they do tend to stretch and eventually mold to your phone. But will say the one I am using now even had the center part for the clip a bit off the 0-180 mark, so its already getting worn out an loose.
But probably the biggest thing I would say is that while the phone and with the otter box cover fit into the sleeve part nice, the front cover really did not close right at first.
Basic problem is that as it uses a magnet, the phone with the otter box was a little to tall an so the cover could not wrap around the top enough to meet its counterpart contact inline.
So basically the cover would just sit flapped open a bit.
For this though it actually was not that far away, so what I did was spend sometime with a heat gun and the phone in the case and just heated the outside and pulled on it till I stretched it enough that it made good contact.
Thankfully I was able to do this without doing and physical damage to the material either.
In the end the case is pretty good for me, was nice and cheap which if you're in a harsh environment like me is good as any is going to get destroyed, so at least I am not doing that to a more costly case.
Fit is good enough and while in need of a little work when I got it, after now is fine.
Down sides is I am sure given the quality it will only last a year or two, but hey who keeps any device longer then that. Also its a gamble to what ever defects it might have when it comes and perhaps if bad enough, may not be usable at all.
Hope that is help to others.
