I have CM7.1 GB2.3.7 installed on a 16GB MicroSD card on my Nook Color. I have read Android in general doesn't support ad hoc WIFI yet via Barnacle Tether I can connect to my Motorola Droid X2 and it works flawlessly.
I just installed CM7.1 GB2.3.7 A3.5 on my hp Touchpad 32GB and it works great except I cannot get it to connect to Barnacle Tether using the same Motorola Droid X2. WIFI works fine otherwise. I can see Barnacle when I scan but it just will not connect.
Any ideas? Is it a limitation of the Alpha build? I'm open to any suggestions.

I have, I use the Wireless tether app with the bluetooth PAN setup. You need to re-pair your phone with the MBP while the tethering is turned on for it to detect and setup the Bluetooth PAN stuff. I was unable to reliably to get the Wi-Fi setup to work reliably and have found the bluetooth works a treat...
YMMV, hope this helps..!
Works fine with both wifi and bluetooth on my Macbook.
Thanks for your replies. I haven't got mine yet because I just ordered it yesterday and it will still take a few days to get here, but I had tried once with a friend's and couldn't get it working. I'll post back when it arrives.
Anyone had luck with a wired tether? Cyanogen's built in one is apparently Windows only (maybe Linux too, I'm not sure). But I'm on Modaco's r21 now anyways. Tried PDA net too, but it errors out on my OS X client...not sure what went wrong there
You have the pdanet client installed on the computer also right? I know for a fact the built in and wired-tether for root users is only compatible with windows and linux.
I would try to use a virtual machine and bridge the connection, that could work.
Wired tether works flawlessly on linux. I'm sure there's some file in Mac (it's Unix after all) which can be edited to make it detect the nexus as some kind of modem. Any mac expert over here?
Jumping on board hoping for a tethering solution for macs with CM
I use wireless tether and it works flawlessly on my MBP! It is straightforward, you fire up wireless tether on the Nexus and the MBP will see it as a wireless hotspot! Select the Android wireless hotspot on your MBP using your Airport and your off and running. Could not be easier! I am using Enom's Official 1.8.1 rom!
I use PDANet over BT with my MBP and it works fine.

Is the wireless tethering feature included in CM 5.0.6?
Anyone here with a cr-48 been successful at connecting with a wireless tether app with the captivate? I am having trouble getting it to work.
I cannot get my CR-48 to connect to my DINC either, I am running Cyanogen 6.1 with the wireless tether. So I would like to know if you have found anything regarding this situation.
lucky bastards.. i'd love one of those..
Anyone have some luck on this?
Yeah, I have a droid eris rooted running a cyanogen mod rom and an unable to get the wireless tether to work on my cr-48 either. It connects to my ipad just fine so I'm assuming it is the computer. Though thinking about it, I had issues connecting it to my other laptop running linux (ubuntu 10.10) so maybe it is something in the linux build.
I think it's because wireless tether uses adhoc. I have read that people can get it to work through usb, but that is no fun. I am trying it on a Droid X. I submitted a bug feedback asking Google if the CR-48 supports adhoc and if that is the issue.
i am currently using my cr48 via the wireless hotspot app on my htc desire - leedroid v2.2f - connects without a problem but i don't have 3G in my area so it's very slow.
Barnacle works fine on my laptop but not for my nook

Ad-Hoc Wireless Support
You need to enable ad-hoc network.

I have a rooted cappy with firefly and I can wifi tether just fine with my Asus transformer. However, I have tried multiple version of wifi tether app for bluetooth and no success? Another way to connect via bluetooth, or even usb tether the two :O
My phone can pair and connect just fine with my win7 pc. My phone/Transformer can only pair, not connect.
any suggestions?
I'm unable to tether my transformer to my samsung continuum but I can tether my ipod touch just fine.
what are you using as app?
i've tried wifi tether, open garden. no luck.
Thanks in advance.
There are detailed posts and instructions here for connectivity for my NC via tethering.
I thought I'd ask the opinions from users who've tried both techniques for connectivity via their cell phone.
I'm using a rooted Droid X, running Barnacle to create an adhoc wifi hotspot for use with my laptop already.
I'd like to be able to use my NC (CM7) by connecting through my phone as well.
The adhoc technique looks good, but the sleep issues and others make it appear a bit tricky.
BT sounds easier, but it looks like a very short connection range.
Opinions as to which you prefer?

Use this one __connectify.me (sorry i cant post link yet)
It make a vitural wifi with wpa2 network (not ad-hoc). It works so good that even my kindle can connect to internet through it.
Is this an app for my Droid X, or the NC?
Thanks!
Garrett
Neither. It's for PC.
