Hello,
I have an XT860 2.3.6 4G from Bell unlocked on Fido. I can 'use' skype, but it does not pick up my cameras. Is anyone able to make it work?
When I first bought I thought it would be a problem regarding the 2.3.4 build which did not have access to gtalk video call (I know it is not related to skype), but then 2.3.6 came out, gtalk started working, but I still can't make 100% video calls on SKYPE... I can only see other people, but they can't see me...
Any comment is appreciated!

You will have to uninstall your current skype to install this one. It has an advanced options menu that can force camera usage

Just tested another App can do the video chat.
It is original EVO 4G's app, and T-mobile having it also now.
The regular version I found in Market is without the video chat function.
I tested on my Gtab and it working well, but on my T-mobile Cliq XT, it will FC.
However, I can still using Gtab to call my phone using video chat and my phone can pick up the call successfully.
The voice will have 1 or 2 second delay, so still have some problem.
I'll give it a shot.
I've got a G2 and the OTA that was pushed at the beginning of November gave me a much needed function for wifi calling when I am in Manila, which is every couple months. My coworker has the Galaxy S and is in Manila now and wants to know if his phone has the functionality. I haven't been able to find anything on it being part of the stock functions, so I'm asking here. His phone isn't rooted or hacked in any way, so I'm just wondering if it is something he would have received an update for, or if it would have to be rooted first? Thanks in advance? I tried a search, but wasn't able to find what I'm looking for. If you know of a thread I can send him to, that would be great too. Thanks again!
Can anyone help me on this? I don't have the phone near me, so I can't verify the settings. I wouldn't ask if I was able to find out any other way, but searches aren't coming up with anything. Too many posts on wifi to find something on wifi calling.
I don't think there are any stock apps that let you do wifi voice calling. However, you may want to give skype a try. I managed to get it working with voice but there is no video calling yet. Maybe in the future.
apparently the new froyo build being pushed or the tmobile vibrrant has a wifi calling app.. can anyone get it so we can get it working on our galaxy s'
thanks in advance
Try "Tango" app (your coworker has to install "Tango" aswell).
Try CSipSimple, and sign a voip plan, like justvoip. Setup your sip number and enjoy, works very well here.

http://www.rebtel.com/en/ works for me.
Hey guys,
Have you tried a Tango Video Chatting software on yours?
I can see my friend's video but mine doesn't show up at all.
I had no issue with my Galaxy S phone.
Thanks
how did you get it working without a phone number? i don't know what to do at the registration step without a # since it's a wifi-only version
ok, got it working with a different phone number but I get the same no video issue as you.

Hi All,
Have had lots of problems with my xt860 (Bell .ca version) locking up or restarting at random (some days it doesnt do it at all, others 2 or 3 times, sometimes more), so am looking at installing minimoto to see if that helps. I did reset back to stock a couple of months back, and the issues stopped for a about a month, but are now back.
I don't want to go without a physical keyboard so this is my last resort before I go and get myself a HTC Desire Z.
I am just wondering if I install safestrap and minimoto will I lose my contacts and SMS?
Thanks,
Cevad

If your contacts are synced with Google, no, you will not lose them - they will come back with the first sync to Google contacts. You can also back up your SMS messages with a third party utility - SMS Backup and Restore may be your best bet. The only issue is that they may be restored in Minimoto with the date and time stamp of the time of the restore, not when the messages were sent (in other words, all of the messages will look to have sent today.)
Of course, one of the advantages of Safestrap is that you can quickly boot back to stock and see your messages store.
Also, I use an app called SMSBackup+, which automatically backs up all sent and received text and MMS messages to your GMail account, so you can look at history in GMail rather than on the phone itself. Note that SMSBackup+ will allow you to restore messages from GMail after they are backed up, but it definitely has the wrong date/time problem, and it's worse because it restores newer items first, so the conversations look backwards.
However, when you install Minimoto, you will be installing with all apps and data wiped from the phone *in Minimoto* - stock will remain if you want to go back, but you need a third party utility to copy apps and data from stock to Minimoto.
Just to let everyone know, Minimoto didn't work on my xt860 as it's a Bell Canada version, not a US one.

Pretty sure I did. It wouldn't allow me to add me an APN, which meant no 3g. Cant remember if there was other issues as well. I've got myself a Desire Z now to replace the XT860, so I'm not too worried now, although maybe I'll try it out again next weekend.
