It as alot to do with it. Our carriers have alot more control over what is put on the phone. Plus most of the OEM are Europe based with a much larger market area. This has always been the case and always will be. Main reason I no longer by US based phones. I am willing to pay more for the phone for better updates. Hell the euro version of the phones sometimes gets updates the US version never sees
How do you get the euro phones?

Order them at full price from different sites. On the for mobile solutions is a good one as others. It does take a little bit more research to make sure you get a device that works on your data bands. Like att. I can order a phone from Telstra in Australia and it will work on my 3G network. Yes it is more expencive but it bypasses alot of things. Mainly now with the government adding the chip to our phones for them to send texts directly to our phones with no way to prevent it or turn it off.
.
Thread moved. Would advise you to read forum rules and post in correct section.

Because there is just too much carrier politics in USA. And, of course, they are willing to pay everyone to STFU and/or GTFO.
Anyone useing the international galaxy note with canadas rogers carrier? If so is there 3g data networks and cellular network working fine on the note or do you have to add the rogers apn settings for data? Any good rom recommendation for the canadian international note user? Thanks and hope this was not asked already

I'm using the N7000 with Bell and I get hspa data speeds. I don't see why it wouldn't work with Rogers.

I didn't have to input any apn. Not sure if you will have to with a Rogers sim. Data speeds are good. Slightly better than my Galaxy Nexus.

You may have to... just Google them, aren't hard to find at all. I'm awaiting my note as well (putting it on Rogers too)
You might want to disable fast dormancy on the Rogers network with the N7000. It should help your battery life a bit.

Just out of curiosity, what's fast dormancy?

Fast Dormancy is a protocol established between the cell masts and the radio in your phone. It allows both ends of the data transfer to co-ordinate switching between high and slow speed data modes. If your carrier supports it then it can save battery power, running at the less energy intensive slower data speeds when you aren't transferring large amounts of data and switching the HSPA+ when needed.
If your carrier does not support it then you typically will see slightly reduced battery life with it on.
As far as I know, in Canada, only the Bell/Telus network support it.

Thanks! So here's the 2nd part of that question. How do you turn off fast dormancy?

Notice the "Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium" signature. You seem to know a lot so you should know I can't search at the moment. Should have been a simple answer on your part, smartass.

Wow, thanks. Notice my smiley face at the end of my sentence?
Install a browser on your phone and search. It's not hard. Shows what a person gets for trying to help someone out. I gave you an explanation you asked for but I am not going to spoon feed you too.
Canadians are generally known for being polite and kind. So much for that assumption. Must be some sort of stereotype like beavers and polar bears.

Q and A forum. Ask questions to get answers. Pretty straightforward...
Back on topic, you can definitely use this phone with Rogers. Just tried it with a Rogers sim and the apn appeared after a few seconds. Enjoy!

Hi as i wait for my skyrocket to get fixed a friend loned me a nexus one with the s/n ending in 100 t-mobile in the us or videotron in canada my original network is rogers like att in the us.
My question is this if i flash a 110 version on this 100 version phone would it unlock the radio bands needed for 3g or is it really hardware specific?
Sent from my Nexus One using Tapatalk 2
Not being from the US or Canada I can't answer that directly. However something tells me that you can't/shouldn't do it.
Be very careful or you could end up bricking it. Perhaps you'd be better off using it "as is" until you get your own phone back.

Nexus One FAQ will answer you.
I know our phones Hardware is exactly the same as the att note so my question is.. If it's identical hardware wise and with tmobile now has LTE wouldn't our phone be able to access the LTE? I'm on 10.1 and there is an apn that says tmobile LTE and I selected that. and in preferred network I put it on LTE/GSM/WCDMA... and the data all works and it does seem to be faster. I did a speed test and got 5 mpbs. I usually get 3-4....maybe I got partial LTE?? any expert advice is embraced! Thank you

I think you have to patch the radio to get it and even then, your battery takes a hit. I get a constant 10mbps down here in Los Angeles using the stock radio on HSPA+. If you are just changing your APN settings without patching, I'm not sure you are getting anything from LTE, especially if it's only 5 mbps.
Hey fraughtsiguewolf nice to see u reply... How or where can we find the patch?

I don't think there is one for our phone. I only saw it for the Nexus.
Darn...

Sorry guys, but after searching I got pretty confused because there's mix answers. I know out of the box H+ and LTE is not compatible. However, I read something about flashing other models baseband and such to activate the required bands. Sounds questionable, but I'm about to get it soon, I just want a direct answer.
TIA
