How?
The phone is not new. Been no this Rom for about a week
I used this quide and all OK...
After the update:
In recovery mode, select options Wipe data/factory reset and also you need to select Wipe Cache partition and also you need to select the option of “Clear Dalvik Cache” after which you need to reboot your device by selecting reboot system now after which all the cache files will get deleted.
You already tried calibrating the battery? And when you install a new ROM you generally have to wait a few days for the battery reaches its normal duration.
the best battery life i have ever had was on MIUI. It was like two days ... no problem. i heard for some guys it was even up to four days.
you are on a gingerbread bootloader, so its no problem to flash MIUI with a *.zip file in recovery. just search the forum here for a good version.
to do:
-glitch kernel
-download a governor ("conservative" or "ondemand")
-two apps from the market: CPU tuner, CPU spy
-search for tutorials for CPU tuner
=> fixed your problems
if you have flashed yout rom with your battery not fully charged, you have to calibrate your battery
And also doing 3-4 full charge
yes, u need to do full discharge recharge cycles 2-3 times... wipe battery stats after that from recovery mode on full 100% charge.
Hope this helps
I have two phones. Both running same Rom but i only use one phone. The other i charge the battery in
only just had to do that since the update.
So the batterys are always fully discharged and recharge.
I didn't know about calibrating the battery ill look into that now.
Thanks for the advice.
Just calibrated the battery fingers crossed this work. Half a day for a phone to last is poor.
Was thinking this is like the iphone
when you guys have fully charged your phones and you go into better status how many how's does it say it has left.
Is it random?
Mine says 40 hours
edit lol now it says 7 mins 40 seconds but battery is still full

You still didn´t gave the time battery needs to settle down. In a couple of days you will see that battery will again last for 2 days easly.
For a better rom that you ask on the first post find it on i9000 development forum. There you have roms with different specs. Choose and test them for yourself and see wich fits you best.
I should say for you to test the Hybrid.

Turning off most app synchronizing (settings » account & synchronisation settings) is making a big difference as well, at least to me. Just disable automatic synchronisation (keep background synchronisation on), and turn it off for all apps. Saves me quite some hours of battery. I'm assuming the update reset all your synchronisation to ON. I'm never using the word synchronisation again, pfft.
hello koooowweeee
Try BatteryCalibration (market) or.
1. Connect the charger to the phone while it is on, and let the load be up to 100%.
2. Unplug the charger and turn off the phone.
3. Reconnect the charger while the phone is off, and leave the task until it shows 100% again.
4. Unplug the charger, then turn the phone, wait for it to boot completely, then turn it off
5. Reconnect the phone to the charger (always off) and wait until it returns to 100%.
6. Disconnect the charger, turn on the phone with flight-+ power to access the Recovery.
Once in recovery, go to Advanced, and make a Wipe Battery Stats, then reboot the phone.
or flash CM7 7.0.2 Kang!
@ +
Well been using my phone all day and battery has lasted so far. Its on 13% now which is better than it was
ill try the method above tomorrow morning and see if that's better
the guide i seen on here was to charge battery to 100% then take the charger out and battery for 90 seconds then put it back in.
Seems to have worked

Hello
I have new diamond 2 for three days. It's very good machine, but i've one serious problem with battery. I try to explain the strange behaviour of it:
1) Battery life is too short. I have read in this forum, that battery life is amazing. I dont have this opinion. My topaz's battery life is about 3/4 of a day (standard using)
2) battery behaviour 1 - sometimes i have battery % value another than after restart. For example i have now 50%. When i do soft reset i will have 35%. After second soft reset i will have 42%. Maybe i have problem with battery calibration or something like that. Or ROM is bad.
3) battery behaviour 2 - many times my battery freeze at specific % value (for examlple 40%). At first i though that is amazing battery life. Buuut no. After few hours still was there value 40%. So i tried soft reset and i saw only 16%. I really don't know what is this problem about.
I tried ariel battery bar, which is very simple program and i didn't have problems with it in the past (when i had kaiser). But here was the same problem. Value on Ariel battery bar freezed too. After softreset there was another value. Maybe i will try hard reset in the future....Now i am trying to format battery with process of fully charge and discharge. Maybe it helps.
Has someone the same problem like me?
Detail of my official ROM:
ROM ver: 1.39.479.1 (47382) WWE
ROM date: 04/07/09
Radio ver: 3.43.25.19
Protocol ver: 61.20t.25.10U
Many thanks for help
PS: i had hermes, 2x kaisers in my past, but this kind of problem i haven't had til now. hmmm
Can you list any applications you have installed or is it still original and out of the box with no applications apart from the standard ones?
How did you perform your initial charge ?
I always perform mine by doing a full charge - letting it drain and then back on charge
This happens for the first week - even if it goes flat in the car, I will not plug it in the car charger until I get home and can do a full charge!
Once the first week is done, I charge normally which at the moment has been every 2 days
Did you do something similar?
I have read on here someone else having issues which is potentially down to the battery so it might just be you have a duff battery
thank you for quick response
Apps:
G-alarm
Total Commander
Core Player
Dictionary
MyLight
Nothing special installed. I think at first i must do a hard reset because i must exactly know if this will be on fresh ROM.
First charge - as usually - it was the same like you.
Now i am charging and here is the same strange problem. I am charging now for 2 hour and battery is only on level 50%. So, now i am going to do soft-reset..............few second...................tadaaaa i have 100%. This is not normal. Here is something bad.
But thanks for you help.

I was going to suggest the hard reset route - this would determine if its software or not.
I will say that charging from empty takes a hell of a long time on the TD2! I'm thinking without even timing it, that it is taking around 4-5 hours to charge up ... and thats on mains!
Are you doing a soft-reset while it is plugged into the mains to charge?
Also is it doing this on usb charge (try another cable and NOT the one supplied for the charger)
Have you been using Opera. If so how have you been closing it. Did you go to menue exit or just hit the X? I ask because I found that hitting the X did not fully close it and when I went back to it it was still at the same page and not relaoding my home page.
Also did you set X to close the programs automatically or do you have to hold X to shut the program down?
It is also my 3rd day with the phone but have used internet a lot and the battery seems to be good. I also have been playing lots of games. I have done an initial Full charge and let it drain.... A full charge again let it drain... and last night it got a full charge.... My battery is Full at the moment. Today I have used it mildly for the web.... Like less than 15 min and have played games for about 10. A few calls and that's it. I can say it's doing better than my Elfin has.

Good point - Just for your reference, in the settings menu > advanced settings> System> Task Manager > Button tab
You can set the X to close rather than minimise - I have always set this to be the case so that when I close a program, it does close!
i tried 3 different chargers. Nothing.
Now i am doing hard-reset. Soon i will report.
report-after hardreseting my topaz seems to be fine. Before hardresseting i fully charged my battery. now i am testing it...
hmmm. really interesting. after few hours of testing everything was ok. So i decided to test it with battery applications (ariel battery bar and another tools wich shows battery bar in %.) And here started ainigain the same problems. Can someone test ariel battery bar and test some soft reset? Please watch what happend after restarts with battery %. I tried 10x restart
and everytime was there another value of battery. Sometimes higher, sometimes lower values.....really annoying
Now i have uninstalled all battery tools and i am going to test again if everything is goog...
alkapone please inform us about the results because i kinda have the same problem here, and i am using batti.
i have a lot of applications installed (nothing to do with the battery meter), but i have GPRS not 3G signal, i am closing the programs normally, and i am exiting opera, and so on. i am using it a lot but i think it goes out kinda fast. i almost get 1 day by using it.
can anyone suggest a battery meter that actually works fine? i like batti
Same problems here! Looking at the battery-information tab: After 4 hours of use after full charged the battery is empty..
I have been using dciBattery and qwertyMemory and all seems to be ok.
I have copied the files to the storage card then run the files and set a shortcut in the windows startup folder.
Here is a link to the files
http://freewareppc.com/utilities/qwertymemoryanddcibattery.shtml
this program doesn't have any config ? i don't want to have the memory bar and i don't want to have that gradient thing.
i think i solve the problem - not sure for 100%
hello to all
i think i solved the trouble. when i have uninstalled every battery app, everything seems to be ok. and one statistic - i had today at 12:00(lunch) 20% of battery. after 8 hours standard using of the phone(few calls, sms, internet), my battery told me that it has 10%. i think it is veeeery gooood (8 hours=only 10% decrease of the battery).beautiful.
result - this case showed that some battery apps/tools causes problens with compatibility battery meter vs. these apps..,
list of apps which causes problems (my tests)
1) jimmyes greens battery fixes
2) ariel batrery bar
3) batti
this is not 100% solution. i am still testing.
please write your opinion.

Do you think nueDynamicClock and nueClock as well as TweakHD (with it's apparent powersaving options etc) could be culprits as well? I'm on 6 hours standby and 2 hours device usage and I've just hit 55% on my battery (trying out the app alkapone02 just linked to)
i have installed finix batt icon too. batti was battery crazy on this.
i will test tomorrow, i am fully charging it now and i am going to test how long it will last through the week

Not sure if this is a problem with the captivate (Rogers I897) or if it's just a select few, but I noticed last night despite the usb charger being plugged in overnight, once the battery reported full, it stopped charging.
So basically, I got home from work, plugged in my captivate because the battery was rather low (only takes 24 hours of maybe 30 mins to 1h of actual usage before I get below 40%), and it took 4-5 hours to charge completely. When I unplugged it in the morning though, it was already down to 64% with just being idle all night.
So is this normal or should I ask for a replacement battery or something?
There are a lot of posts around here about batterirs dying quickly, and "charge death", but I'm not really sure whats going on with your phone. All I can suggest is that you make sure that you close all apps and stuff before letting it idle, and just see how that goes. I suppose you could just have a bad battery. Are you on a custom ROM or stock? I had problems with battery life when I first flashed to a custom rom, but since then I've switched to serendipity 4.3, I have it undervolted, I keep an eye out with a task manager, and my phone has no problems lasting all day, even while texting a good amount/using it for searches and stuff.
What ROM are you running?
Did you have GPS/Bluetooth/Wireless left on?
There are known issues with certain builds of ROM's causing this issue. If your on a stock ROM and still having this issue? I would take it in to possibly have it warrantied out or at least have the battery replaced.
I haven't ever had an issue with my phone losing a charge while plugged in.
Yeah, stock ROM. I haven't installed any additional task managers, but I usually open it up and kill all tasks when I'm finished with them.
I do keep bluetooth and GPS off at all times, but I leave wifi on overnight because I didn't think the battery would stop charging entirely once it was full. I've only had the phone a week so I could get it replaced, I just wanted to investigate it a bit to see if it's a common issue or not before I did that.

Settings --> Mobile and Network --> Wifi Settings --> Advanced (soft key) --> When screen turns off
This would turn off wifi after 15 mins of inactivity. This would help save ur battery.
And yes, charge does get cut off when left for extended times, but not right after it says charge full.
Recalibrate your battery/battery stats. This is my method, there are many others though:
1. Charge the phone with the phone ON, until the phone indicates full battery
2. Unplug the charger, replug, continue charging until full battery again (I repeat this 2-3 times)
3. Turn off phone, charge until full battery
4. Unplug the charger, replug, continue charing until full battery again (Again, I repeat 2-3 times)
5. Turn on the phone, let the phone charge yet again.
6. Boot into Android Recovery, delete battery stats (Advance -> Wipe Battery Stats)

Cool, I'll try this, thanks!
By default, wifi does get turned off when the screen goes dark and I haven't changed it.
I've also been tring to flash to a new ROM (been trying Android 2.2), but Kies won't load my phone). I think I'll research other methods when I have time.

If u r not heavy on data and use it for things like mails and chats, and esp when in an area with no proper 3G coverage, u can switch to EDGE and get out of 3G. 3G sucks more battery compared to EDGE.
So I wasn't able to complete all the steps to kind of fix the battery problem, but I plugged it in to almost 100% (I think it was like 98% or something, I had to go out so I had to unplug it), but when I got back I plugged it in again and let it charge overnight. This morning however, it was still at 100%, and now, about 8.5 hours later, it's only at 73% so I think maybe it just had to normalize it.

Give it some time to normalize. And charge showing 98% when unplugged at 100% is normal.
And yes, seeing 60% battery left after an hour of calls and tasks involving an hour plus of display on after a day's work, apart from push emails, etc (~14 hours standby) isn't so new anymore to me.
Stop watching the battery so closely for about a week and u'll be all set
I was on darkys 8.1 rom with jk4 modem, calibrated the battery one time and I went 18 hours. Starting from 98%
6 hours were phone calls, 1.5 hours of text messaging. 2 hours of power amp . The rest was pretty much just standby/idle time.
Though, I don't get that anymore though.. Jk4 has gone to **** for me. I used to get full signal majority of the time, and for places where other people go no bars, I got one or two. Now its pretty horrible it makes me sad ;(

Hello
I can't use my Galaxy S more than 3 hours, after that the battery is on 0 %. I've tried some of the guides here, but nothing helps. My phone is running Darky's Rom 9.1 Extreme Edition. I would be thankful if some of you could help, so i can use my phone without it should be plugged in the charger!
- Mosawer
I also got some issues with darky's 9.1. Did you tried 9.2 version? it solved most of my battery problems. but still i can't wipe battery status from the CWM.
No but i would definitely try it. I've also had Darky's rom 8.0, and the battery life wasn't the best on that also. To be honest, my phone has never survived a whole day without i should plug in the charger. I've also tried the battery wipe, but it didnt work, actually it just got worse. Before i tried the battery wipe, it could hold 7-10 hours, but now i cant use it more than 4 hours.
you could calibrate your battery, as flashing ROMs all the time can confuse the battery and make it think it is at a different % than it actually is.. try this
1. Run the device down until it turns itself off.
2. Turn it back on and wait for it to turn itself off again.
3. Remove the battery for 10 seconds.
4. Replace the battery, but leave the device off.
5. Charge the device until full and then for another hour.
6. Boot into recovery and reset battery stats (or, go to console and type “su” enter, followed by “rm /data/system/batterystats.bin”)
7. Run the device’s battery down until it turns itself off.
8. Charge to full while off.
9. Restart and use as normal.
when you have done that you could try a battery saving app i use juice defender its free, but there is a paid version with more features. what this does is everytime the phone sleeps (screen off) it disables all connections like 3g wifi data mode etc but still allows you to receive calls and texts..
also get your self a good task killer, and place a icon on the home screen to kill running apps quick, i do this everytime i put my phone in my pocket, making sure nothing is eating my battery apart from me when im using it.
try them methods and post back with your results in say 2days time ?? good luck
EDIT: another thing to do is use automatic brightness, this adjust the brightness of the screen depending on the ambience of where you are. e.g if its sunny the screen dims down, if its dark it brightens up... great for saving battery.
Thanks man, i will try calibrating my battery this way, but dont think i'm gonna download the task killer og battery saver, but i'll sure post my result after i've tried it !
well there is samsungs own built in task manager its good, you will be suprised what apps open up on their own and start using your connections and running processes without you even knowing. all that drains battery. but just see how you go
Well it didnt work dude, the battery life still sucks as much as before

Maybe u need a new battery...

Hey... first off, what sort of things are you doing with your phone? Casual browsing, youtube, streaming? Wifi, GPS on?
If the battery is not defective, there must be some program instance that is draining that battery.
Wifi, GPS and that sort of things are off. I'm browsing a little bit, and then just use my apps and games, and of course i write some sms's. and hear music.
Thats the thing i'm doing on my phone.
Btw: When i unplug my phone from the charger, it immidately drops 2-4 %.

Is the extreme drain also a darky problem?
Read posts on darky section if you have problems likewise read posts on xxx rom section if you have that rom makes sense .

Running
Docs Rom Kitchen and no battery drain
Haha okay
But i would be pleased if someone have a solution for this problem!
Nothing have worked, but i finally remember how the battery drain started! It was when i decided to calibrate my battery. After i did it, the extreme battery drain started! So it has nothing to do with Darky's rom or something else, i is the battery calibratings problem. Anybody knows how to fix it???
After updating to 2.3.3 using COS-DS, my phone seemed to work fine. I initially had a battery drain with nothing taking up large battery usage, so I reset the battery stats and all was well.
However, after unplugging my phone from charging all night (100% upon unplug), I checked my phone two hours later and saw that my charge was down to 22%. Upon checking Battery Usage, I found that Android OS is using 76%! The only thing I've done today was answer a couple SMS messages. I don't have Sync, GPS, or Wifi on, but I do have Mobiledata and 3G+2G on, as well as Background Data. The only widget I have is Google Voice, which I've removed to no avail. I've tried rebooting (twice), but it stays the same. I've turned off data, gone to 2G-only, and turned off background data, and it still continues. In Spare Parts, under Battery history it says that the only thing using up the battery is Suspend in CPU, and Battery Status says that the battery's health is good. Something really strange is that after the initial power-off upon the discovery of this issue, I immediately plugged it into the charger. After about 3 minutes I turned it back on, and found that it's already charged back up to 86%. WHAT.
Also, I haven't plugged it into the computer once in the last few days, so it's not USB-bug related. Any ideas on what's going on here?
EDIT: Ok, it's been a couple hours since this began, but just now I checked the phone (it was on the charger) and suddenly EVERYTHING is gone from the Battery Usage page, save for Display and Android OS, and Android OS is back down to 5% now. Really bloody weird, but the issue seems to have resolved itself.
I've had similar issues. When my battery runs flat, dead. I plug it up and switched it on, and it shown "Charging (32%)". I get different but similar results with different ROMs. It could simply mean the battery is wasted couldn't it?
Have you gone into the Recovery mode and wipe the Battery Status? I was having similiar issue (but not a fast drain), I did maybe about 5 wiped and reboot the phone. My problem seem to go away.
I went from 1 day or less from 100% to having to recharge, to 2 and 1/2 days then charge.
The issue came back later that night, and has been happening ever since.
I've done the bump charge + stats wipe, where I let it charge to 100%, shutdown until green LED, wipe stats, restart, let drain to 0, restart and use. I've tried this about 3 or 4 times, and the issue persists. I've removed my 2 widgets (two sound effects widgets), and it persists.
Also, I've downloaded OS Monitor, and it shows the CPU to be resting at its min, 246.
I'm hoping it's just the battery at this point, and have already ordered another one. I'll let you guys know if that fixes it.
In that case it might be your battery that need to be replace. How old is the battery?
I really have no idea. I bought this G1 used on eBay 9 months ago.
2 things to note:
1. It actually stopped booting last night even while on the charger: I restarted, and it kept getting stuck on the splash image. So I superwiped, reflashed, and the drain is still there even with no user-installed apps.
2. About a month ago, (when I was back on a stable Froyo, which I had been on since I got the phone 9 months ago) it started to randomly shut off. It seemed like if it got just a little too hot (battery got to maybe 30 C, never was able to check what the temp was when this happened), it would shut down and wouldn't get past the boot screen without a reset. I had to either charge it or wait an hour for it to successfully boot again.
In retrospect, this is sounding more and more like the battery. The only thing that's strange is that Android OS takes up such high percentage. Oh well, hopefully the new battery gets here today or tomorrow, hopefully that fixes everything.
Since you have brought the G1 9 months ago, more than likely it's had been over two year or more (about the same age as mine more or less). I doubt that the seller would be giving you a brand new battery.
I noticed the reboot on mine G1 too. Ever so often, my G1 will reboot on me. But I do not have the problem getting stuck at the splash or boot screen. But then I am using the SuperAosp ROM not Froyo.
Let me know how the new battery will work out, I might have to end up getting it myself. Eventhough my battery life got better after I did the wipe battery status, sometime it still drain depending on the day I guess.
I noticed the same result with COSDS.
I moved to Ginger Yoshi with much better results.
Better, but not as good as stock, obviously.
COSDS turned into a real hog on me by the time the second or third reboot happened.
Heeter
I'll stay with SuperAosp, I take the performance over the battery life any day. My battery status an't that bad. Once in the while I used it up in a day or less, other I can stick around for a few days.
The rebooting part was not too bad on my end. Just once in a while. Nothing I can't handle.
@ psychosonic - You might want to try that if you want, Gingerbread Yoshi was one of my first choice before I found what I had.
Alright, got my battery. After calibrating it for one day, then using it today post-calibration, it's functioning phenomenally. After using wifi + internet for a period of time, and sms throughout the day, it's still at 70% 6 hours after charge. Essentially, the only thing that drains the battery is heavy internet use, which seems to make it go down 1% per 2 or 3 minutes.
Internet usage seem to take a lot out of the battery for sure. I know mine take a lot more than 1% every 2 or 3 mins when I use my internet.
Let see how will the new battery pan out. See if it will last you 2 or more days. Keep using it as such, and see where it goes.
Android OS Battery bug
Hi!
1. Install SystemPanelLite Task Manager from the market.
2. Run SystemPanel and open settings and check the "System processes" option. Close settings.
3. Scroll down in the process list until you find the process "android.process.media". If you have a CPU usage of more then 10-30s and the process usage gauge to the left moves up and down you probably have the Android OS battery bug.
At this point you can try the following;
- Shut down your phone. (Not just turn it of. The complete shut-down-power-off-thingy)
- Remove your external SD card.
- Start up your phone again.
- When the scan media is complete, do step 3 above again. If you don't see the problem at step 3 your SD card has a corrupt filesystem. And needs to be reformated. Follow these steps;
- Backup your data first!!!
- Settings -> SD card & phone storage
- Unmount SD card
- Format SD card
- Restore files from your backup.
If the problem persists your internal SD card might have a corrupt filesystem and needs to be reformated. Follow these steps;
- Backup your data first!!!
- Settings -> SD card & phone storage
- Format internal storage
- Restore files from your backup.
More details; What happens when you have a corrupt filesystem is that android.process.media tries to read a file but fails over and over again. The filesystem might not look corrupt to you. And you can read and write files on the SD card without problems. But at some point the android.process.media failes to read the files and loops like crazy, draining your battery.
I had a corrupt filesystem (FAT32) on my external SD card. I also had Android OS battery usage of 60-70% and a fast draining battery. I hope this can help others.

have you tried calibrating your battery? if you haven't try this.. i always do this when my battery gets miscalibrated. 1st turn off your phone, take out the battery and leave it for 1 to 2 minutes, put the battery back, go to recovery mode and to CWM recovery go to advanced and wipe battery stats, reboot your phone
give feedback if it works or not,,
This doesnt calibrate the battery,it only delete the logfile of the battery.i think he need a new one.please op,next time ask in right section.
MANY GREEEEEETZ!!!
Use only 2G Networks
1. Proper way to calibrate battery:
Drain the battery completely (use an Xposed module called disable critical battery shutdown, google it). Then, recharge the battery to 100% (DON'T unplug the charger cable while charging) and done.
2. Underclock when necessary.
3. Don't run too many apps at one time.
4. Make sure that deepsleep is working.

1. You can use Wakelock Detector from Play Store.
2. It is normal behavior...... if the battery status won't move from 99% to 100% after 1-2 hours (while charging), there might be a problem.
