I am thinking to move my cell phone carrier from Verizon to AT&T since I got Galaxy Note. I am thinking to get 450 minute voice plan + unlimited messaging + unlimited data. I am a noob about those things, so I searched for it almost a week.
Here is my understanding.
1. IMEI number is ID of cell phone. Every cell phone has its unique IMEI number.
2. Carrier (AT&T) only has database of IMEI numbers of their cell phones which they sell.
3. Applier only need IMEI number when open an account at the AT&T.
4. AT&T cannot detect IMEI number when people use AT&T network.
5. AT&T can detect the speed that people use.
6. The Galaxy Note will work on AT&T HSDPA 850/1900 bands.
Here is what I am planning to do.
1. Buy an unlock dumb phone from ebay which supports HSDPA 850/1900 (ex. Samsung A927 Flight II).
2. Get a 450 minute voice plan, unlimited messaging, and unlimited data for non-Smartphones plan with ebay phone (ex. Samsung A927 Flight II).
3. After the ebay phone is activated, pop SIM card in Galaxy Note.
4. Configure APN on Galaxy Note.
Do you guys think it works? Or any other recommendation?
Pls let me know. Thank you!!
I'm on ATT
They no longer offer the unlimited data plan.
But otherwise your plan would work
I have unlimited ATT only because i'm a legacy user. And i have a dumbphone unlimited data plan which i use with the gNote on ATT
They will sweep the smartphones on dumphone plan once in a while. But there's a way around it.
Search ebay for ppl selling sim cards with unlimited data plans on ATT (not sure if such things even exist for sale)

Thank you. I know that they don't have unlimited data plan for smartphone anymore. what I am trying to do is using non-smart phone data plan for Galaxy note. It is the only way I can get unlimited data plan if I can spoof ATT.
The only unlimited att sim you can get is getting unlimited gophone. Which doesnt require a contract. 60$ / month all unlimited. Lots of ppl are using it.
Again, no unlimited data plans on a contrac from att. Only prepaid gophone sim cards

how's the speed on att prepaid plan? I cant find it on their site. I think for T-mobile, they cap your speed down to edge after the first 200 or 250mb usage of 4G.
I am getting out of a contract with att soon, and planning to switch to a gophone plan. Can I carry my old number over?

I was told this would work using their GoPhone plans, and as mentioned some people here are using it. However, I was also told that "unlimited" isn't really "unlimited" in this case, that there's an expectation of how much data a non-smartphone would use on this plan (since it's designed for non-smartphones). Basically, it'll work as long as you don't get too carried away on the data side, in which case "unlimted" will become "capped" or "cutoff."
I was on the verge of terminating my att contract and find something better.
Sprint is the only true unlimited provider that offers 4g lte service and cheaper than verizon.
Att gophone is a good option too. Not for a family plan (which i'm interested in)
Staying with att for now with a dumbphone unlimited plan using gNote until my contract expires and will probablyove to sprint.
Tmobile will throttle you down if you have hivh usage.
I use about 12-15gb a month so tmob is not an option.

What I checked ATT.com, unlimited GoPhone plan is $50.
I think this one can be another option (Nation 450 w/Rollover® Minutes $39.99 + Messaging & Data Unlimited for Non-Smartphones $30.00).
Someone said coverage is different goPhone and other plans.

I believe the only difference in coverage is due to the different APNs they use. Don't take my word for that though.

Is this true? I didn't think it was, and required you to spoof your IMEI in your modem firmware or via a TurboSIM or something similar. Where's your source for this?

I think it's wrong. Though they may not see the whole IMEI, they see enough to detect your phone model, which is enough for them to decide dumbphone/smartphone.
When i log into my ATT profile, i can see the handset i'm using on top of the page which is determined by IMEI ( i think)

You can carry your number whenever switching plans and even carriers. There's a law that protects you on that

No one said that AT&T cannot detect IMEI number when people use AT&T network.
I assume it from this thread.

No need to call ATT
Just insert the SIM card and set your APN.
The only APN that works for me is the wap.cingular.
Though i've seen ppl using the "pta" and "phone" apns, i was never able to access with those.

That's the APN i'm currently using on a dumbphone unlimited data plan.
I can't guarantee that your APN will be the same.
It doesn't hurt to try it.
The moment you hit Save on the APN, you'll be ably to see whether you have 3G (H+) or not. If you don't have connection try a different one.
As far as i know you have these options, wap.cingular, phone, pta, medianet
Change the APN, wait a few seconds, if nothing shows up, change the APN. No need to reboot.
You can save multiple APNs.
At some point i saved 2 APNs and switched until i found out that wap.cingular was the only one that offered connection.
Either way, ppl are using gophone sim cards with the gNote without issues and i'm pretty sure the APN they use is the one you listed

Thank you so much. You are the life saver. If I buy the SIM from ebay, can I transfer my number from Verizon?
Hmm, that's a tough one. I'm pretty sure it only applies when switching carriers on a contract. You can't have 2 devices on different carriers and use the same number. You may need to cancel your contract with verizon. I'd call ATT or Verizon to confirm that. (sorry if this sounds dumb)
======================================
Who should consumers contact if they want to port their number to a new carrier?
Consumers should contact their prospective new carrier, who will start the porting process. The new carrier will first confirm the consumer's identity and then make a porting request of the old carrier. When consumers go to their new carrier to port a number, they should bring along a recent bill, which will have their correct name and address as it appears in the carrier’s database. This should aid in making the porting process go smoothly. Once a valid porting request has been made, the old carrier cannot refuse to port a number.

All,
After reading posts and complaints about the Galaxy Note being flagged as a tablet in AT&T's systems, I set out on a mission to fix this erroneous error. I contacted the President of AT&T and heard back from the Vice President. After several phone conversations later, the Director of Marketing was able to identify the error and fix this issue resulting in Note IMEI's to appear as smartphones, not tablets.
In short, buy the Note, put your SIM in, and your good to go. No issues with accusatory tablet texts. Here is the message I received (names redacted)
**********
I just spoke with our supply chain team and we figured out the issue – a digit was transposed when we loaded in a set of IMEI TAC ranges to our systems in October and this resulted in classifying a subset of Samsung Galaxy Note products erroneously. Your IMEI range was not impacted and your product will work without issue and without concern of losing your unlimited smartphone data plan experience.
To be clear, you have not actually received any “alerts” from AT&T about data plan eligibility because you have not moved your SIM card into the Samsung Galaxy Note product as of yet? You can do so without issue at this time.
***********
So, I'm not one to take credit, but I sure did take this issue to the top of AT&T and it all appears to be well.
Great news for us Note users in the US. AT&T know knows it's not a tablet.
Enjoy the best device ever!
Eric
EDIT: It seems my solution didn't necessarily remedy all Galaxy Notes. That said, you may still encounter issues. If you do, I'd recommend contacting AT&T for help. I seem to be good for now, but still feel I will get flagged at some point. Unfortunate, really, but that's par for the course given the unique nature of this device. AT&T can't seem to classify it as a tablet or smartphone, when it's clearly a smartphone with a slightly bigger screen.
Thank you! Is there a reference number or of the sort which we can reference to just in case the 'text of horror' or any issues occur by any chance?
One point of caution: he said "my IMEI range has not been affected." I have no idea if that means my Note, which was from Germany, is any different than a Polish one or otherwise.
The best thing to do is if you get a text from AT&T about a tablet plan, contact the highest executive you can and be very professional (it's easy to find emails). This issue can be fixed as evidenced by my post.
Good luck!
Out of respect for the individuals who helped me, I'd rather not post their information all over the web. Just google for AT&T executive email addresses if you run into trouble and go from there. Remember, if you do contact someone, please be professional in your communications. *****ing will get you nowhere.
Great. I will do so! how do you check the nationality of your GN? I just ordered it from Amazon, so I am not sure where it will be from.

FWIW, mine from Amazon was German. Outside of that, they are sourced from all over, so I can't help beyond that.
Just to be clear what happens if I call AT&T up and have them put my IMIE number in. Will it now be accepted by AT&T and will I then have the proper APN sent to my phone automatically without having to put it in manually? Has anyone done this now? Thanks for getting this straightened out it sure takes a lot of pressure off everyone.

You don't need to call AT&T, just put your sim card in your Note. No matter what you do, I don't think you can make the network automatically provision your international Note with the correct APN settings, you'll have to do it manually. It's very easy to do, though.
Excellent news that they have fixed the issue with the IMEI # error in their database!
Thanks Eric!
Now has anyone that got blocked before put their SIM back in and using it? I am still a little worried because the email didn't say that they changed anything, only that yours was ok. I will wait a couple days until i get my TMo SIM in the mail; then if they shut me off again at least I can go to TMo edge. Right now I'm using my N1 and tethering it, but the idea of the Note is so I only have to carry one device.
Soooo...this is for all of us? If so, you're a hero man, seriously.
That's awesome Eric. I have a Note on the way that I was resigned to returning because of this issue. It's a Christmas miracle!
Eric - what APN are you using? Phone, PTA or wap. Cingular?

Another question. I am using an older, I'm sure 3G SIM. I've seen references to a 4G SIM. Will substituting a 4G SIM for the 3G SIM -- I'm already on a metered $G Smartphone plan -- make any difference re obtaining HSPA+ speeds?

Awesome
That's great news. It's such great news I decided to order the phone from Amazon. And it's arriving tomorrow!
Earlier in the day I went to a local AT&T store here in NYC and had a long talk with a sales rep. He told me there was no reason why it should not work and that he would exchange my iPhones sim for the right size. I explained to him all the issues and he said if it's not a tablet there should be no problem. I'm glad the higher ups at AT&T agreed with him.
Glad to hear you had your issue taken care of. Hopefully you didn't screw all the note medianet users over in the process...

First of all, if you are using the Note on that plan, you are out of compliance.
Second of all, if you are spending $700 on a device, get a piggy bank and save $15 more each month to finance your data plan.
Third of all, that's a pretty jerky comment. I didn't do all of this as a self-serving prophecy. I merely wanted AT&T to recognize it as a smartphone, not a tablet. For everyone, not just me. Nobody cares that you and others are skirting policy by sneaking a data-heavy phone onto an old medianet plan.
You are working the system and frankly I hope you get caught.

Eric for the past 7 years I've used unlocked unbranded phones on at&t. When I insert my at&t SIM into my unlocked unbranded phone OLAM's only option for data was the 10/15$ medianet plan. How am I skirting the system if AT&T's online account manager is telling me to select medianet for data?
Should I call at&t up and tell them I want to pay more money for data? Tell me how to proceed?

Yes, you do need a new SIM; at least I did. I was using an old AT&T 3G SIM from back in the day, and they threw in the new one for free and claimed that I needed it. I wasn't complaining.
There is no LTE-specific data plan. If you're on a data plan now, you'll get LTE. They have yet to introduce that sort of pricing, but I fear that they will. Hence why I jumped for an LTE phone now, even though I don't live in a LTE-heavy market.

there are actually 4 things you need to use LTE, first the SIM, it has to have the digits 25 in the 9th and 10th spot, second, you need an LTE device, 3rd, you need a LTE data plan, as you need the pta, APN to access the PGW, and 4th, be in an LTE area. however, even if you are not in LTE, you still need the data plan as you connect with PTA to the PGW, not the GGSN.
i'm using a iPhone SIM in an adaptor, as long as it has the digits 25 in the 9 and 10th spot, your good.

That is correct, you will need the above noted items, I came from an Inspire (4G Device but was still told I had to have a newer LTE sim) and the LTE provisioning looks identical but has "LTE" as part of the plan name, two things to make note of,
1. if you don't have the PTE provisioning your data will not work, but you can add a new APN to connect to the non lte 2/3/4g data networks.
2. if you have the provisioning done anytime other than your billing cycle day one you may get some prorated fees.
**I also find the non LTE apn useful if your market area is not LTE yet, the phone will auto default to legacy 4G (Technically 3.5G) but you can save a bit of battery buy not having the radio even looking for it
I just wanted to throw that out there so people would be aware.
Cheers

Did not know I would have to have the put me on an LTE plan. Actually that doesn't make any sense to me at all - same prices, etc. - but whatever. I guess I'll be contacting them soon, after my LTE SIM comes in!

It's likely more like resource management, when they roll out LTE in an area the users provisioned for LTE will have that as their preferred network and help reduce the number of users on the oversubscribed existing 2/3/4G networks since there are usually multiple wireless data networks in a given area. That's one reason Carriers need additional woreless spectrum to implement new technologies/networks.

Good point. It'll probably be awhile before LTE is in our area - it took forever to get 3G here - but I see your point. I'll have them switch me to the LTE plan when I get my SIM and have to contact them anyway.
Huh, turns out that I've been provisioned for LTE all along; my agent must have just done it for me silently. You guys got me all worried!
When I thought you said LTE data plan, I thought you meant like a "Pay extra for LTE" plan, and I was WTFing at the thought, because I knew I wasn't paying more.

I can only comment on what AT&T seems to do, They should automatically provision you when one of the current LTE phones is purchased. Im my case it did not take at first and I had problems with data, I looked at my account online and noticed that it did not have the LTE provisioning, got that and all was well.

I actually went today and had to get a new sim provisioned for lte. I can now connect using the PTA apn. They also switched me on the unlimited lte plan. I have 10238976mb available to use on my unlimited plan now. I'm guessing I won't go over that amount.

Nothing like that capped "unlimited" huh?
LTE APN vs Older APN
gey gys just wanted to share my data results. when connected to the new PTA APN it seems crippled (3mbps) however when reverting back to the older APN settings (3.5g) I am getting 10+mbps... ODD
Some people are having issues with the PTA apn and have had to revert.

Seems a bit slow for LTE; you're talking about HSPA+, right? LTE should have a far higher upload.
Which APN are you using, phone or pta?
Hi!!
I have HTC Inspire with unlimited data plan and dicide to buy a HTC vivid, swap sims cards and notice that the internet didnt work. So I called Att customer service and they said that my Unlimited data plan is not compatible with Vivids "4g Lte" beacouse of my unlimited DATA. Therfore they said if i wanted to use the phone i have to change my plan and pay for each gig.. Any way iam determine to use my phone beacouse i just paid $200 for it (NEW out of the Box hell of a deal!! ).
Any ideas
how i can use the internet?
or change vivids 4 lte to H+ like my Inspire? ***I tried to set my network type WCDMA preferred, GSM only, WCDMA only, GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto, LTE only. But i cant chage to non of them just WCDMA.
At this moment Iam using an diferrent apn that i found in the XDA forum and my mobile internet works (DL Speed 5 to 7 megas), but my Wifi Thether wont give me access to the internet. (At this moment the phone is rooted and haves super user and is s-off).
Plz anyone can help be very aprecited!!

I had to do this but it has its downside. On my att account online it reads number of mb used out of 10238976 mb so it's not really unlimited. I was also informed when I went into my att store to get an explanation, that I would be moved from my unlimited plan to the tiered 4gb data plan if I went over 4gb in a billing cycle. I'm not sure if it's true or not but I'm afraid ill lose my "unlimited" at 30 a month if I push my luck. I never wanted lte since its not available in my area but they moved me to the lte by "accident" since I bought an lte phone. No going back once they switch you so be careful. I'm constantly at 2gb a month anyway so it looks I won't be using my phone as a modem when I travel.

I will ask some one else and see if i can stay with my same contract... the thing is that they want to change my contract.
Definitely speak to someone else. You do not have to switch from your "unlimited" plan to a tiered plan to use the Vivid.

If I'm correct I believe 10238976 mb translates into 1 Terabyte, and you will likely be throttled way before you reach 1tb. It is essentially unlimited (of course you could argue that 1tb is not unlimited, but if you really do go over 1tb, you're a douche for hogging up THAT much data)
If you are going to be sticking to LTE phones, I do highly suggest you change your plan to LTE Unlimited as the speed is just awesome Even at one bar LTE hits 7 ~ 10 down and 6 ~ 8 up, which is something that HSPA+ needs full signal to achieve.

Not a data hog like you suggest but I do use about 16 gig + when I travel. Have not been throttled yet so I'm not sure when they penalize you for using a service that you pay for

For usage such as that I would expect throttling in the future, however its based on market averages.
As for OP, what the rep told you is flat out untrue. Simply goto a cor store or call care say you purchased a new phone and want to register the imei and change to the appropriate data plan. Once the rep inputs the imei he will be able to switch you to the LTE version of what you have. As for apns use the pts once they change it.

I too swapped my phones and all the rep did was register my IMEI and switch me to the LTE version of my plan.
Yup, unlimited data here as well. AT&T will do what they can to get you off of that plan.
After I upgraded my phone, when I called in to get Visual Voicemail setup, the girl I spoke with told me "it was all done". A few hours later, I started getting notifications that I was reaching my limit of 200MB on my data. She had actually switched me to the 200MB plan and never told me. I called back, spoke with a supervisor, he was very apologetic and put me back on the unlimited plan with the Visual Voicemail. They definitely have the power to do it but will try and talk you out of it.
What AT&T doesn't tell you is that they use the same Sim cards on all of their phones, even if they do not have LTE (obvious exception would be the iphone 4). So go into the store and request a new sim. they may be petty and charge you but it is better then losing unlimited data
At&t reps get paid on feature values, they could care less whether you're on an unlimited or a capped data plan. Just go to a corporate at&t store and them them change your unlimited hspa+ data plan to unlimited LTE.
If you are to lazy/stupid to figure that out then use these apn settings. Go into settings, wireless and networks, mobile network settings, apn settings.

I always hated AT&T until I got to North Texas. The store guys are great & many know more than the upper level/tier tech support folks.
I got my Vivid on release day & kept the all time best plan ever which I have had for awhile now. Family unlimited data + messaging. For $45 I get unlimited data including LTE here in North Texas, + unlimited SMS & MMS on four different lines. It was a plan from back in the messaging/data war days. My rep. here in Allen is great & they no what's a good deal & actually tell customers what is best for their situation. Over my many upgrades they have always either told me to hang on to my plan, or just known better & not mentioned it.
I'll tell you one thing for certain, dealing with the stores in Texas sure beats the hell out of the California reps or anyone at 611 support. Whenever I have issues or need anything, I go into my local store & have always gotten great service. They've even involved me with sales a time or two when a customer says something like "well you just want me to buy that one because it is more expensive to upgrade", & I'll simply all what they want the device for mostly & then explain that AT&T still pays more for the high end device, so you may as well make them pay the highest subsidy & spend a few more bucks to get a device that will last & is likely to see a few updates. Buying a Vivid, SkyRocket or something like the upcoming Sony Ion, even if you have it for two whole years, it will likely perform better in spite of age & a few drops than the free or 29.00 dollar pan tech that will never see ics, let alone any update at all.
Other stores I've been in, when living in California, I'd get dirty looks for talking to customers, here they almost encourage it.
Well, I did all you guys told me to do.. change my apn, change sim and talk with customer service. After 3 days and continued fight with ATT, my unlimited data plan is not compatible ltg. I tried talking with att supervisor, Ing, and Customer Service "every body" and the answer is "not Compatible".. Those SOB even change my plan to $30 2 gig and now i am fighting back my unlimited data. I field a case and in Feb 2 i will have my unlimited data again...
Iam really pissed off with they had done to my contract. it was a big mistake in switching my insire for a vivid ltg.
If any one had this problem please replay...
PS: for the dude how told me stupid/lazy i am not neather of those and i did all i can in my reach, for matter of fact i use about 30 gig a mounth my insire.... So ill doing anything to protect my contract.... There for iam not JAJAJAJ
We have a thread going about what doesn't work with the N7 3g. How about keeping a list of what actually does work? I won't make a list of data only plans because that is a given. I am talking about smartphone plans with minutes and sms as well as data. I will edit the list and try to make myself useful. I am hoping that a few of the prepaid plans will work on the t-mobile/at&t networks despite the blocking when purchased from the carrier.

If this thread is meant to be USA specific, please indicate so in the title.
If not I will just hazard a guess: The N7 should work on *all* CDN smartphone plans because AFAIK none of the carriers here do punitive device screening. The only caveat is you would have to put in the smartphone APN if the tablet APN is the default. But if anyone has a counterexample please do make it known. (Of course the voice side won't work unless/until devs figure out how.)
UK - T-Mobile standard pay as you go Sim works. I'm using it now.
StraightTalk's T-mobile SIM works.
I'm using it now. Good Speeds too..
My cousin is using SIMPLE Mobile on his N7.
It a MVNO using T-mobile network. It has a $50 Unlimited Plan.
No Data Cap from what he told me.
I read over the T&C and it seems pretty good.
Just no P2P Downloading, Running a Server, "automatic data feeds"
Oh and no Tethering (stated in T&C)
It says they reserve the right to Throttle or Terminate your service if you break any of the T&C rules.
But nothing about a Data Cap.
Don't have good Coverage though (at least the coverage map they have sucks)
I will keep a list for any country if it is helpful. Thanks for the input thus far.

Umm, StraightTalk mvno via Verizon is CDMA based (No SIM) (although SOME of their phones have SIM) - Nexus7 Does not Support CDMA
I Think you meant T-mobile.
That UK entry should be T-mobile (Orange) and not Verizon.
AT&T SIM with iPhone data plan works
I put a SIM from an iPhone with the iPhone unlimited data plan into my N7 3G and it's working perfectly. I did have to create a new APN with the old wap.cingular APN. That is likely required for other AT&T SIMs with non-LTE data plans. If the SIM is setup with an LTE data plan it should work with the Broadband APN that comes predefined.
Someone trying an AT&T SIM should create an APN with these settings. I believe the username and password entries are case sensitive, so make sure you enter them as all caps.

I also tried to take my contact lenses out this morning.....they weren't in. Makes me nervous about what I'm typing into my report at the office right now. haha.
T-Mobile
So I just bought a Nexus 7 32GB with HSPA+ and came to know that T-Mobile smartphone plans don't work on this device.
WTF?
Is there something I need to do get it to work? Like Root it?
If it won't work even with root enabled then I think this device is going to have to go back to Google.
thanks

What I've gathered from other threads is that T-Mobile have blocked the IMIE numbers of all the nexus 3g devices, effectively forcing people to use tablet only plans.
Others will probably confirm, but truth be told, probably best to use another carrier.

Does anyone know of a plan that is pre paid and offers the pay per day option as T mobiles? There plan was basically $3 a day that you used it. I don't use the data connection that much but want the option when I need it. Most of the time I can tether to my phone but there are those bad battery days when it would be nice to their out the $3 instead of not having service.
The ATT Mobile Data Share plan works if you add as a tablet. Its only $10 to add N7 3G to your share plan,

Just to clarify, did you have to cut down the Straight Talk Sim to Micro size? They only seem to offer the T-Mobile Sim in standard Sim card size.
A dumb question: what is a straight talk plan? Unlimited minutes one with or without data?
Thanks!

I figured I'd share for anyone else trying to get a prepaid sim card at a local store. I know they sell them online but I was impatient. Whatever you do, don't listen to the morons at the store. The first one told me that it wouldn't work and even if it did, I'd have to pay for the 65$ plan. They insisted NO mobile data would work at all. The second store said the exact same thing. I said screw it, sell me a card anyways and give me the 25$ voice and messaging plan, with 25$ 1GB data, totaling 50$ per month. Data didn't work right away but about 10 mins after and switching airplane mode, it works perfectly, even HSDPA+. I tried my sim card in my wife's phone, hers didn't automatically download the APN settings, but after copying mine over, it worked too. It just pisses me off that these people try to take advantage of someone then convince them the only for everything to work is to use a contract. They kept claiming that unlocked phones don't even support the data connection on any prepaid network, what a load of bs.
I'm trying to figure how you get a sim card. They won't give me one
I'm pretty sure you can find them on eBay, they have to be the go phone sim cards. Both stores agreed to sell me one but only if I bought a prepaid plan with it. They were dicks about it though... They tried soooo hard to convince me I'm wasting my money and need to sign up for the contract service, and even when I said I'd buy a plan, they tried telling me I had to use the most expensive prepaid plan they have, which isn't true.

the working AT&T Gophone go phone settings for nexus 4 is greatly appreciated.
What APN settings are you using? I did them same thing, purchased a GoPhone sim activation kit at radio shack, the weird thing was i put it in my phone and went online to activate and it had all the info pre-filled out after entering the sim info with some random person from Texas, figured it was an old number that was unused for some time, completely freaked that AT&T may keep my info if i dump this number and assign it to some random GoPhone account some day.
It was also pre setup with voice $25 and i added the $25 data which is what I wanted to do. At first everything was fine, i rooted last night and tried to put in the APN setigns and have not been able to get data setup.
Why doesn't AT&T list APN settings on there sire like Net10 does?
Also it stinks that you cant use online chat for gophones since you don't always have access to an extra line.

In my experience so far, the required 65$ plan is complete bs. I'm on the 50$ (25 for talk, text, 25 for data). I have a feeling i could drop the data to the 200MB plan and it would still work. Though I'm not sure about the voice plan or "rate plan"
Thanks for the screen shots, I tried those but no success. I tried the LTE first but assumed it wouldn't work, the first one you provided I have seen the most on the web. Tomorrow I plan to call or stop in a local At&T to see what the issue is. Last night prior to rooting I was on AT&T gophone w/data working but cant remember the APN i was using, when i rooted and installed CM10 i have not been able to get Data up an running.
I have a Net10 sim which is still active and tried to go back tot he settings on the Net10 site but couldn't get data working, i haven't been able to use net10 settings that worked prior to the root, i called and they gave me different settings that worked, wish i had save/backed them up.
To be honest since i needed to call Net10 to make data work with different APN settings than on the site and I cant get AT&T gophone to work on data Im assuming i need to call or stop in to make it work correctly.
I can make calls, haven't tested SMS/MMS i use GV.

I didnt post all of them because I think these two are the only ones you need; these are the ones that got it working on my wifes phone. Make sure you have the same one checked as in the picture. If it doesnt work I'll upload the rest but I'm a bit short on time right now

They tried soooo hard to convince me I'm wasting my money and need to sign up for the contract service
I'm thinking of switching to this from ST AT&T. Going to go to the local radio shack to see if they have an activation kit. I'm planning on just signing up for the $25 plan at activation then adding the $25 data plan. Do you add the data plan at activation or do this later?
I really don't think AT&T hires anyone who's actually involved in the field too often. The kids who work at the AT&T store near me don't really even seem too intelligent about the actual grits of the market or the phones. And at Verizon it's even worse, as with Sprint. I've had some decent luck with T-Mobile employees. But these people don't do this because they love phones generally they do it because they need a job.
I am not very interested in Apple's current lineup, but I mean at least they hire people who know what there is to know, in and out.
Always do your own product and service research, consumerism lesson number 1.

By the way heads up to you all, low end GoPhone was $10 at Walmart last time I checked. Just let me know what your speedtests are on Prepaid
The Radio Shack in town closed but there is an AT&T store (corporate not an authorized dealer) right next door so I went in and they gave me a GoPhone micro sim card for free. Then said if I wanted they would port over my number and sign me up for the $25/$25 GoPhone service right there. So I said go ahead, got everything ported over with some minor glitches on the ST end that AT&T worked out very quickly by calling them, and the phone is now working just fine on AT&T. Didn't have to enter in any APN data as the phone recognized it right away. As I was getting ready to leave the store manager walks out and says that the $25 data plan won't work with that phone. His reasoning was that the plan is for 3G phones only and not 4G phones but I told him this is a 3G only phone and it is connected as far as I could tell. He was adamant that it would not work period no matter what I showed him. Since I'm at work and there is only 2G down here in Sticksville I could only show him the phone display showing its connected to the Edge network. I'll see if it connects to HSPA+ when I get home but I don't think there should be a problem.
Does anyone have working g mms? Nothing here. Called Att and the idiot told me h+ isn't available to prepaid.... Went outside and did a speed test and I'm getting 1mb/s so h+ is definitely working.
Edit: deleted username and apn type and rebooted I can send pictures but not group msgs

That's a pretty weak signal, border line no signal. When I had that low a signal with TMo I couldn't do anything and would get the no service message.
I just took the ss in a bad signal area, I still have a valid data connection and get good dl speeds. And also as mentioned, I can send picture messages, just not group messages. Not really that big of a deal
