Battery life drained?! o.o - LG Revolution

So my revolution got the 2.1 blitzkrieg update and the http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1394056&highlight=adrenaline+shot . I have the extended battery, and when I went to the gym for an hour and 30 minutes, I had 10% gone?! What is this? I thought the blitzkrieg was supposed to increase battery life?
Note: SetCPU is always at max: 1.9ghz min: 0

Reinstall SetCPU, your min is off... goofy, your phone can't run at 0, then it wouldn't run. I think min is 244mhz.
The first day I had my extended battery, it drained crazy fast. Then it took hours for it to charge. Yesterday I got 13 hours off of it with very heavy use, and today 14 hours and I was at 28% when I plugged it in to charge. Give it a day after you reinstall setcpu.

Freeze it and download cputuner? Why can't you uninstall setcpu?
menu->applications->downloaded->setcpu->uninstall
or try Gemini its a ram cleaner, and you can uninstall from there. I have never run into an issue where I couldn't remove setcpu. If that is the case then indeed you may have an issue with the setcpu program.

battery life
I seem to loose battery life quite fast I have to charge my phone at least once more during the day just to make it through. what can I do to improve this other than getting the extende battery

I'm getting 10 to 12 hours with very heavy use which is pretty good for me. You can use an app like watchdog (available in Android market) it will tell you what apps are using up resources and allow you to control problem apps. JuiceDefender is highly recommended by some people. I'm not using anything like that at the moment.
My Profile

It could be, if you are saying you can't remove it. I would try to work on that then go from there. Can you force stop it? Clear data? Next I would get titanium backup and freeze it. Once you do that you can use tb to remove it.

I'm running blitz 2.1 as well and I ONLY have the governor set on smoothass and I lose 10% in one hour. I'm considering restoring to pre -blitz. I love the performance even when I did overclock but the battery cost is too much.
Sent from my VS910 4G using XDA App

For the longest time I didn't do gingervolt 1.3 because it caused issues with my phone. Finally when blitz came out,I did it, but I factoried every but of my phone to do it. I suspected I was running two roms at the same time, because there were often times the phone would give me stock options for doing tasks, and ones from the ROM. Also there were certain elements left behind that should have been removed, like bing. Just take blitz off and try again.
Sent from my VS910 4G using xda premium

I've done that before. I originally installed blitz over gingervolt 1.2 and had the same problems. So I restored back to just gv 1.2, upgraded to gv 1.3 and then put blitz on. I still have poor battery life and the occasional vibrate+freeze which results in a reboot.
I can't really give up my overclock lol it runs great but makes me more dependent on my charger. I'm sure it'll get better in future releases of blitz.

Im on gv 1.3 / blitz 2.1 @ 768 / 1900 via set cpu with supercharger + 3g turbo and ics, adrenaline shot and no verify plus some other tweaks from the tweaks list. I haven't had any reboots in a few days (even when charging) and my oem battery lasts all day with lite to moderate use. The extended battery 12+ hours with heavy usage.
The three most helpful changes for my revolution have been using blitz 2.1 and setting minimum to 768 and removing KAK from the supercharger script. After doing those things it runs smoother and I've got better battery life (go figure) I don't know how or why but of course I could be missing something.

As is being discussed over at the bk thread, set CPU might drain battery. Not conclusive, but possible. I'm trying CPU master now to see if there's a difference for me
Sent from my VS910 4G using XDA App

I'm using CPU Master made by Antutu also, and my battery still drains however I'm not supercharged. I really should look into getting supercharged though.
The batter drain almost makes me want to look into getting the extended battery...
Has anyone had problems at all with extended battery?
Does the phone still fit in the hip holster with ext. battery?

Okay so i uninstalled SetCPU and got CPU Tuner. could it be that I never removed blitzkrieg, but instead flashed 1.0 then 2.0 then 2.1?

What can I do to better improve my battery life I have gingervolt but I seem to have terrible battery life I literally charged my phone to 100 went to bed and when I woke up it was at 17 without touching it. What can I do who are my options

Stop sleeping 14 hours a night. My battery lasted between 8 and 14 hours depending inn what I was doing. When I would flash a ROM, my battery was less for a couple days, but back after that. If its been a few days you can go back to stock and try again to dl and flash gingervolt. I got the extended battery when I heard they were 50 percent off. I have been off charger all day and I am at 44 percent.

You need root permissions in order to use Battery Calibration, if i remember right.
In my personal experience i wiped only once battery stats, ad i did it via CWM. Remember to fully charge battery before doing that!

I'm satisfied with this.
JuiceDefender plus or ultimate are good (ultimate doesn't do too much more than plus other than lots of fine tweaking for those who enjoy it), and if you're rooted CPU tuner is excellent to customise frequency and governor management over the range of battery. I actually prefer the UI of CPU tuner to SetCPU, and it is free.
https://market.android.com/details?id=ch.amana.android.cputuner
IMPORTANT: wiping battery stats doesn't do anything for your battery life!!!
Hmm battery calibration not extend the battery life it only display accurate reading of your battery, your battery consumption depends upon the appication you are using and stock, although is a good result of battery although stock app is good and heavy loaded but still it have good battery beacuse of its coding in framework.odex files and it also depends on your baseband like i am using under config files
Rom- The myth ICS beta2
Rom build- Custom Stock ROM
Baseband- Previous was DDKQ6 now XWKS2
App use to save battery- Power MAx pro
My usage Type Heaviest icludes -approx 4 hour wifi,Youtube movie approx 3 hours, always on 3g connection, games 30 min or less, Music played 4 to 5 hours Calls 10-15 min, Messaging 2 hours and my battery last upto 18 to 20 hour without compromise Thus by good baseband with Custom stock rom and app u save your battery i wll upload my screenshot too
So its a good deal for me

My battery drain, in 56% , after 10min play Falling Fred, it has 38%

My Favorite configuration for O/C

So....long time lurker here....I've tried every rom for the revo, every config setting, every tweak, every update, and so far for speed, battery life etc when running Blitz....the best I can come up with is this:
wipe data/ factory reset in CWM
fresh install:
Gingervolt 1.3
Blitz 2.1
Rom Toolbox Pro.
Toolbox CPU settings: max=1900 min=245 governor=SMOOTHASS
Thats it.
If I go and install scripts....other tweaks....different configurations...they ALL drain the battery faster than that simple setup.
I have the extended battery and I am getting a nice slow drain with decent usage. Blazing fast speed too.
Sometimes LESS IS MORE....and with this phone...after 50 wipes and re-flashes....In my opinion, you will get the best battery life from that config.
I will update this thread with drain % over time...right now I will charge the phone 100% and take it from there.
So...after charging the phone to100%....waited until 3:55pm..then rebooted while plugged in phone untouched until 4:00 pm. I then unplugged the phone and checked battery life exactly at 5:00 ....6:00....and7:00. With ZERO phone use.....the phone....screen off in 4g mode will use exactly 3% every hour on the hour. This is with the settings in the first post.
Thank you very much. Really appreciate it. This works for me too. The Revo has now become very stable, fast, descent battery life. I did it by keeping stock, applying your changes and using Zeam Launcher. Not on Gingervolt.
I have been using the scripts for a week now, and I think I agree. I am sure it's my phone being argumentative. I am thinking of downgrading the supercharger back to the gingervolt, because I think that was the most optimal for my phone, and apparently Mike's too.
Thanks for your post.
next test was to fully charge the phone to 100% ...disable 4g....reboot....wait until 9:00pm andunplug. Again with zero phone usage I waited until 10:00pm. The phone only drained the battery 1%. It went from 100% to 99% in one hour in 3g mode with wifi disabled.
so the next test will be 3g mode with wifi enabled and no use.
after that I will try the phone with wifi enabled in 4g mode
i hope we can zero in on maximizing battery life once and for all.
so one thing i must say regardless of the standby tests.....is that i fully expect garbage battery life after overclocking this phone while i am actually using it. overclocking creates heat......and heat is wasted electricity. so its give and take....sure overclocking is great and the phone isblazin fast...but the battery pays the price.
so theres one thing that is a fact of this phone.....it is 100% impossible to overclock the revolution and get better battery life than what we had before overclocking. its never gonna happen. BUT what we can do is figure out the best way to maximize battery life when the screenis off....and hopefully this thread can start us in the right directiono

You should not see significant battery drain while using the phone. The idea of over clocking is so that multiple apps can run together without there being any jumping or lag. Your processor should not be running at 1900 when in the phone state. We all know 4g is a battery killer. I don't use 4g. This is a great thread you started.

Mine actually charges. I started nav the other day at 81 percent, and ended my drive on 83. I think I was in the car for 30 minutes, maybe 40.
Let's see what duder gets, I am very interested.

Phone running hot and draining battery -what could it be?

Since installing a new ROM, last night, my INCS has been running very hot and seems to be caning the battery.
I charged over night, unplugged it at about 7am and it is is dead already. I haven't been using much more than usual, and so it is concerning me slightly.
I was wondering if anyone could help me find out what is causing the issue and ways to resolve it?
Cheers!

Check the task manager to see what processes you have running. You can also check the battery settings and one of the screens will show what has been using the battery.
Have you tried rebooting the phone?
Thanks for the tips.
Nothing out of the ordinary seems to be running in the background, and most of the battery drain is the screen which isn't too much of a surprise. I don't have many apps installed yet.
Would it be worth installing a cpu monitor to check the cpu speeds, in case it is running too high?
On the stock ROM it would last a good 12 hours with moderate usage and a lot of apps installed and running.
You can try setcpu or whatever CPU utility depending on your rom.
You can set offscreen to a lower speed like 600mhz or so. See if that helps you out.

Best mods (Root) for best battery life and phone speed?

I have basically every script/ mod right now done to my Revo and I use Antutu Battery saver running at level 3 (best battery saver level). I still dont feel like I get good battery life, even when not using the phone too much. I have my cpu set on rom Toolbox running 1900/ 255 on smoothass governor, which constantly switches at random. Does it switch because of my battery saver im thinking? Either way, Im trying to figure out if I should wipe my Revo and restart with just Blitz and Rom toolbox for better battery, with still good speeds. Any suggestions if I wipe clean? Or any suggestions on what to do right now? Thanks!

I could be wrong but I'm guessing that setting 1.9gHz on the Max is just that, the Max. Not necessarily the "constant" CPU speed.

Now this might not be the answer you were looking for, but I had found that even with multiple power-saving measure my battery-life was still terribly short. The best thing is to get an extended battery, the one for the Revo is beast in size and battery life. Also, since you didn't mention it, changing from LTE to CDMA is also good if you're not really needing your 4G speeds.

Your battery life is probably not too good because of the 1900 mhz setting... I use set CPU and you can use different profiles (including screen off, charging, battery threshold below a certain percent, etc.). This helps, but I don't get great battery life without a program like JuiceDefender. The problem there is, though, that it slows my phone down to the point of it taking a minute to get working, and by that time I have already done what I need to do... sort of sucks.

I got the extended battery too and it is a world of difference. I can run all day and night without killing my battery. Even with moderate to heavy use, I can run through a whole day with no charger (and be comfortable). I just got mine through verizon for 24.99 the other week. I may have overpaid, but I don't trust amazon or ebay too much with some things.

I use 5 different battery programs to monitor my battery and save my battery, but for some reason my battery drains in an hour.
The thing I see on here the most: monitoring programs, 4g connections, flashing left and right. People need to go to YouTube, and watch the video on how Android phones work. They are constantly learning what apps you use or don't use, they are learning how best to operate for your needs. When you flash a ROM or tweaks, it has to relearn. Sure track your battery for a day or two, see what programs are doing what and when, but then get rid of the extra crap, your phones don't need it. If you want extra battery life, get the bigger battery, you all knew coming to a smart phone that battery life sucks. Stop using app killers, and monitoring programs, they run in the background. Turn off auto run programs so one program doesn't start another.

the more programs running the more drain. Widgets are convenient but can be real power hogs. Simple and streamlined is the way to go for me. You can have an awesome looking / running phone by being selective with apps and avoiding redundancies. If i have an issue, i dl the program/s i want to troubleshoot with and when im done i uninstall. No need to use resources that could be used elsewhere. You can always dl the app again or save its apk to the external sd or a laptop or both (thats what i did). Ofc, it will have a new learning curve but settles in a couple days, for me anyway.

Imo it's just placebo effect. I actually think that they waste battery than save.
About battery saving apps:
Some might help save some of your battery, like Juice Defender, but about 100% of the stuff that an app does is something you can do for yourself.
Like dim the screen when you don't need 100% brightness, turn off data and use only GSM when you don't need to use data (and if 3G has better reception it might be worth staying on 3G though, at least in my world a better reception would mean a little bit better battery than if you changed to the network mode with worse reception) and when you don't need WiFi - you turn it off.
Using apps to kill other services and apps are not a good idea either, since some apps will only restart and restart and restart while the task killer will keep killing = both apps will drain your battery.
And by turning off both WiFi and data and the apps are well designed, they should not try to look for updates and such if there are no available internet connections.
And, by undervolting you gain more than using different apps and such and if you then learn how to set up your device in the best way for battery you will get longer battery life.
If I don't use my phone so often, I can get about 2 days with 3G/GSM + WiFi turned on all the time and mobile data connection turned on all the time. If I use it a lot I still get long enough battery time to make a full day, usually I need to charge my phone every 18-24 hours when I use it to check mail, send some texts and read news (and XDA, as the addicted person I am).
Now, I just hope that I haven't f*cked anything up - I'm just too lazy to read it through.

That seems to make others hate me.
Therefore I enjoy being helpful. Why can't we two be in the same thread without derailing it?

My battery is good

I bought myself a Nexus 7 about a month ago to satisfy the cravings for that Jellybean goodness. After trying several ICS/JB roms on my IncS over the past year, I decided to revert back to the CM7 Nightlies. Much to my surprise it's almost as if I forgot how blazingly fast Gingerbread was.
Given how i use my IncS on a daily basis, I seem to be averaging around 34-36 hours before it hits below 5%. It really only gets used for calls, texts and wifi tethering to my N7.

I used to average 30% battery drain per day with light use with stock GB rom and kernal, it has upped to approx 50% per day with stock ICS rom, with lOst profit's overclock kernal running at 1400 wake and 368 sleep. ( setcpu )
Not bad considering 40% increase in processor speed, but less than 20% increase in battery usage.
Addy
I tried latest cm7 nightlies and it wasn't smooth at all so I reverted back to jellybean cyan x
don't know why you are saying that GB was blazingly fast...
My battery is so bad on the jellybean ROM though!!
So 1 sacrifice for another :S

You must be doing it wrong, I'm on nightlies 146 with Tiamat kernel and this thing is like lightning. Battery lasts forever on moderate use about 36 - 40 hours. Lag is no where to be found.

keep in mind you have to give it a couple of hours , maybe even a day(depending on how much it has to do and your connection etc) Before the rom settles down after flashing. Then you can give your impression of it if it is laggy or not.
