Hi,
I've searched the forum and the thread "http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1331784" but I could not find the way to update the CWM3 to CWM5. I flashed the CF-Kernel but this did not update the version of CWM3. How to do?
Thanks
Read the first post of that thread again....
CWM Manager v3.0 is Chainfire's customised version of CWM5. So if you have flashed a CF-Root kernel you will already have the most up to date version of Chainfire's customised CWM5.

Hi Rainbow.
How were you able to root your phone?
Can you please post instructions here or direct me to the thread where the root instructions can be found?
Thank you.

A quick and easy root method is available on youtube, just do a search for: "How to root Samsung Galaxy S I9000 (Easiest safest method)" you find a video and a link to the file you need to perform the root. (Video is by tech0StickyAsGlue)
Cheers!
today, I think u should upgraded your rom to zsjpd first, this is the offical firmware . You upgrade through Kies by Samsung.
Then use univerisal lagfix 0.4 version with 340 Mb to perform root ,lagfix and your phone will fly like a ro rocket!!!
Thank you for the info Rainbow. Will definitely try that out.
Cheers!
I think you can just flash any of the JPM/JP0 custom Kernels out there as your rom is based on them kernels anyways. I recommend YA-OK/ZENKINS kernel.
Thank you for the info. How's the battery life on these ROMS using the Ya OK kernel?
Hi,
I kinda have a problem. I'm with Bell and I bought a Galaxy S Ti-9000 unlock and I don't know why but my phone was not able to have phone service but I found a way to flash the root the stock samsung 2.3 and flash clockwork for the recovery but still I did have any phone service so I found the thread on XDA with the Bell stock rom for 2.2 build number UGJK3 and flash it with Odin3 and Voila I had phone service lol but the thing is that I can't install back Clockwork because of the samsung recovery 3e. I found this thread on XDA http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788108 but there is not the build for my phone so does this mean that I'm screwed or there is a way to flash it. I tried to search on google but couldn't find anything.
Thanks for your anwsers.
Paco
It *might* work never the less. See here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=11438614&highlight=bell#post11438614
Or try to flash this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=846237
Jens
Thanks for your anwser Jens
So the post that you showed me is that I could try one of the files and it should work? I just don't want to brick the phone that why lol

CF-Root-XW_XEE_JVB-v3.1-CWM3RFS WILL NOT WORK ON FROYO!
You need some version < 2.4 as stated on page #1 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788108).
I'd guess that CF-Root-JPJPA-v1.2-Busybox-1.17.1 is the best choice. But to be honest I don't know if this will work.
Over here: http://www.android.net/forum/samsung-captivate/58043-rom-dorians-ugjk3-2-2-gingerbread-edition.html someone made a rom with a hardcore kernel. So that kernel might help as well: http://www.hotfilesearch.com/speedmod-kernel-k12t-500hz-zip.html

Yeah I know that there is some Rom but the only way that I can install a rom is with Odin3 and I need to have a .tar file don't think that zip file work zip file its when you have CWM installed for your recovery. that is why I need to install one of the file to be able to use CWM to be able to flash these roms. I have rom manager installed but can't install CWM because the stock rom that I installed had the recovery 3e that not let you install CWM
This rom has K12T included. So you can try to flash only that kernel.
I just found that http://touristinparadise.blogspot.com/2010/11/samsung-galaxy-s-download-speedmod.html
List of Kernel for Galaxy S for Bell and international galaxy S
I have flash it with Odin3 and I have now CWM
And btw thanks Jens because I didn't know about those kernel so I search on google for that for be able to flash it with Odin3
I may be asking well known silly question, sorry for that.
I want to install PA so i want to root stock OS GB 2.3.6 with XWJW7, but i could not find correct CF-Root to install via ODIN,
kindly help me by providing link for correct CF-Root i should flash, OR any prerooted GB ROM for GT-I9000.
Also as i want to install PA, please let me know, do i need to flash any kernal for safety after rooting and before flashing Paranoid Android JB.
You can use cf-root jw4 kernel is compatible for jw7.

I found this one
March 2012 / Android 2.3.6 / JW4 / Value Pack build:
CF-Root-XX_OXA_JW4-v4.4-CWM3RFS.zip
but as you can see it is CF-Root-XX_JW4
and i have XW_JW7
so JW4 is ok but What about XX and XW? does it matter? or i should flash this one only?
Following the root cf-kernel for kernel semaphore recommend cwm and flash.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1112908
But if you want ics or JB, read the threads on the forum.

Help choosing Cf-Root version for Galaxy S2
Though I have posted here many years ago, please treat me as a newbie now.
I have a Samasung Galaxy S2 w/ Android 2.3.4. I would like to add Cf-Root so that I can manually upgrade to the newest available version of Android.
1. My kernel version is 2.6.35.7-I9100 XXKH3-CL479037.
I see there are two KH versions of Cf-Root:
"XX_OXA_KH3: Untested (by me) (thx to robbielicious for the stock kernel)
XX_XEU_KH4: Tested"
Which one is better for my phone? Is there any advantage in using the KH4 which was tested by the maker, over the exact match KH3, not tested?
2. Could you please provide a link (to a reliable download site) for the latest android version? The sites that were in the original post appears to have been shut down.

man, you just woke up an 1 year old thread on the wrong forum, this is i9000 forum, not S2, . just use device search engine to locate it.

Goto Original Android Development forum, search Philz thread and choose a kernel fitting for your Rom.
Install it and you get what you want.

check you rom.buildnumber and search for it in the thread. as for ICS.. most of the kernel works with any build
please be more particular about the rom buil number and kernel no. so that we can provide a exact link to help you out.. i can't figure out that la6 is gb or ics

Hi guys, I'm running stock ROM 4.1.2 rooted with stock recovery and want to flash KitKat on there. I've flashed custom ROMs and CWM before so this isn't that new really, but this phone has me baffled. I just can't seem to flash PhilZ Touch CWM6 on there. I've tried via stock recovery loading the .zip from there but comes up with an error, and I tried flashing from Odin3 too, but that also reports failed.
Also I'm using the official zip from PhilZ thread too.
Could someone shade some light here for me please? Thanks in advanced!
Wrong thread... Disregard.

Hi,
I see you've already posted this question in your device section. Asking in the Philz thread may be an idea too.
If you've read the stickies at the top of this section you'd understand XDA Assist is here to help members navigate the site, not for support. And you already knew where to post.
Thanks for understanding. Thread closed.

Sorry I did read after. I've now solved my problem and successfully installed PhilZ Touch. I got the link to the official download but the tutorial linked to the wrong version for my kernel.
