Hi guys, I'm running stock ROM 4.1.2 rooted with stock recovery and want to flash KitKat on there. I've flashed custom ROMs and CWM before so this isn't that new really, but this phone has me baffled. I just can't seem to flash PhilZ Touch CWM6 on there. I've tried via stock recovery loading the .zip from there but comes up with an error, and I tried flashing from Odin3 too, but that also reports failed.
Also I'm using the official zip from PhilZ thread too.
Could someone shade some light here for me please? Thanks in advanced!
Wrong thread... Disregard.

Hi,
I see you've already posted this question in your device section. Asking in the Philz thread may be an idea too.
If you've read the stickies at the top of this section you'd understand XDA Assist is here to help members navigate the site, not for support. And you already knew where to post.
Thanks for understanding. Thread closed.

Sorry I did read after. I've now solved my problem and successfully installed PhilZ Touch. I got the link to the official download but the tutorial linked to the wrong version for my kernel.

This thread should be moved to Q&A forum...
All the answers you seek are hidden in the stickies at the top of the thread list that you scrolled past.......

Initial pangs. Yes, everybody has them. Checkout Darkstriker's thread in the general section.
OP, put on your flame retardant pants... I hope you find your answer, but I'm betting that you'll get "iron fisted" for this one.
Hi Guys,
Just updated to Note to the new ICS rom in the UK, wanted to add some of the S3 features I see around on the forum. But I'm running into difficulty with the E Signatures which I think form reading I need to install CWM so I can install the .zip's.
I read This thread about install CWM, however my Kernal ("LQ2") is not listed.
Is there a Kernel I can use to install CWM with or should I wait until it is listed on that thread?
Would appreciate any help. I do search and read before posting all the time (hence why I am quite quiet!) so I really do need help, not being lazy!
Thank you in advance.
There is an LQ2 kernel in chainfires thread in development section. Use that one.
Ive been searching all over the Forums, and over google, and haven't found anyway to install clockworkmod recovery on my GT-N7000. So I wonder if you have any links or can tell me how to do it...
Im currently running a rooted LA6 Kernel.

Goto Original Android Development forum, search Philz thread and choose a kernel fitting for your Rom.
Install it and you get what you want.

check you rom.buildnumber and search for it in the thread. as for ICS.. most of the kernel works with any build
please be more particular about the rom buil number and kernel no. so that we can provide a exact link to help you out.. i can't figure out that la6 is gb or ics

Cheers,
I've had an issue before when I tried to flash a new rom. As background the thread can be found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2141714
From what I've read, Samsung finally released the stock JB rom for our Note1 and Im planning to give it another try.
Also a software update from samsung has popped-up, is it safe to update it that way? even tho im on KD5.1 currently?
Or should I just do it via Odin?
As all members already replied in your other thread:
Install the JB stock Rom with PC Odin.
You played around before, so you might have a device configuration that isn't so reliable.
With the PC Odin installation you will get a clean state.
I think you could have asked this question in your existing thread - nothing really new here, isn't it?
Thanks for the quick reply. Any chance you can point me in the right direction as where to get the stock JB Rom?
I decided to create a new thread instead of bringing a dead thread back, but your right I should have just asked there.
Thanks.

www.sammobile.com, search in Firmwares for N7000, then you get a list with the download links to hotfile
or (and I prefer this)

You'r welcome. Please read the thread and follow the instructions. Make sure you installed the drivers and your device is recognized in PC Odin. Then it shouldn't be a problem.
so I haven't used my captivate in over an year and just got it back from a friend so wanted to put Omni or one of them 4.4 roms but they all require 6.0.4.4 cwm or TWRP and ive been using i317 note 2 so flashing method is different on that, according to the guides I read for captivate, they all suggest flashing a kernel to get the recovery, but I was wondering if that is the only way and if someone could give me the link to the kernel to get the up to date recoveries and if the same mode of just flashing the recovery works, please link me to the page coz I have searched and searched and can't find it anywhere, even on cwm's main website they've listed only CWM 2.5. Please help me.

just download the neat kernel from the development section and just flash the 1.04 version, and reboot the recovery..
you will be in CWM 6.0.4.6
and then you can flash the KK roms which you like..
