The official Samsung Allshare media server is not available for mac for now.
Anyone had any luck using other methods like TVMOBiLi or Serviio etc? I just can't seem to get anything to work smoothly. Ideally I would like to stream 1080p video to and from my Tv and Note. Would this be possible?
i use skifta for same, you can try, works good for me.

Just set it up works fine as a media streamer. Thanks for this suggestion however it still doesn't work with the default Allshare button which is a shame. I'll keep trying to get it to work.

Has anyone seen an app for Android like this one for iphone?

I am waiting on a Sprint Hero phone and building a Media Center. I think I will be building a Myth box and this app or one like it would be great for the phone.
Not sure what mythTV is.. but i think it was a way to stream video and music to you iPhone via internet from your home computer (?)
If this is it, "Winamp remote" works just fine to stream musik (havnt tested with viedo yet, will report back when i do)
It's really awesome
Edit: Video streaming did not work.. which is pretty weird, since winamp remote do have a flashplayer so you can stream movies to the nintendo wii(HTC Hero has newer flashplayer than wii, so it should be possible to stream to the hero(?))
I Might aswell email them about it

MythTV is a free Linux open source Media Center with a PVR and other addons. I thought it would be cool to be able to stream my recorded shows whenever I wanted to.
here are a couple of links that could show you more.

There is already an app called mythdroid.
http://code.google.com/p/mythdroid/
I've tried it and could use my hero as a remote for my frontend, browse backend status; There is a patch to apply ton backend to have a better tv programs list. I don't think you can watch recordings or video on phone by now.
I know that the mythweb addon can do streaming to a browser on another computer. If an app on the Android phone could play the file that is streamed, it might work that way? I can't try it until I get my new phone.
Has anybody gotten mythdroid working? I can use it as a remote but playback on the device does not work.
Or does anyone know of a good upnp client that might do the trick?
Thanks
Mythtv and android
Myself is running an mythtv setup, and my way to go would be adding an rss feed to mythtv
web interface, there is a few examples out there..
Code:
www .mythtv.org/wiki/Android_RSS_Video_Feed
ps. sorry for the broken link, im not allowed to post links before 8 posts..

The following apps don't seem to work on my G-Tablet:
Streamfurious
imsdroid
sipdroid
(Apparently, sipdroid may just be an audio issue)
Others have said that certain other video/audio streaming apps or VoIP apps don't work.
They all seem to have network streaming in common. Is there a framework or something missing from the G-Tablet? If so, perhaps we can provide it in one of the unofficial f/w's

i can streamtalk radio
I use TuneIn radio, UPnPlay, and they both work. Iheartradio seems to not work with anything anymore, but has stations i like. Streaming seems ok here.
Interesting. Iheartradio works for me on my EVO 4G. So does the Xiiaalite (or whatever the shoutcast renamed streamer is now).
I got Xiiaalite to work briefly the other day. Then after about 5 minutes it said it kept buffering. Iheartradio did the same but never started.
I believe it *MIGHT* have something to do with the ads being taken away. I'm just guessing. Or a broken pipe somewhere, but that wouldn't make sense if some other streamers are able to do it.
**Correction** i Reverted Adfree back and Xiialivelite still doesn't work, nor does i heart radio (((
I've tried to find a TV/video streamer that works with no joy SBP TV most notably doesn't work though the app is running fine on my PDN. Crystal TV and others all give me the same problem in that they seem to be unable to open the video or audio streams.
I'm running TNTlite 2.0.2
Slaterman
Someone suggested in the Slingplayer thread that disabling stagefright fixes slingbox streaming. I wonder if it would work for other streaming apps.

I'll have to try that. Anyone here a VLC user? I can't seem to get it to work either with any of the apps out there on the market.
I'm using TVersity to do my streaming. It has a flash interface that works quite nicely. It's not exactly what I want but it gets the job done. It's a little bit of a pain to setup, but it's the only solution I was able to get consistently working.
I had trouble getting the Slacker app to stream. I'm running a TnT Lite which has a modified /etc/hosts file to reduce ads, so I edited /etc/hosts and took out all of the "extra" entries that roebeet put in and it works fine, now.
I understand there's an app in the Market that will do this for you if you're not comfortable editing /etc/hosts or just don't know how to do it. Supposedly you install the app and then click on Revert.
Gmote works to stream your PC media
Gmote is the only app I've found that streams video from my home media PC to the Gtab.
AndroStream and VLC Stream and Convert, will stream over RTSP, but Gtab only plays audio.
Stream with Orb Live
I got used to the OrbLive app. That thing works great on my EVO, anyone have any idea why it cant work on the GTAB ?
FWIW I'm streaming my home audio library with AudioGalaxy just fine on vegan beta 3.
With Orb, I had much better luck avoiding the app and just logging in at mycast.orb.com and using the web interface. I found that setting the User Agent in Dolphin HD to Android made it easier to use. I was even able to stream movies from my NAS, which is pretty cool!

I am running an MT-DAAP server at home and the DAAP program from the market loads and streats great on the Tab running Vegan.
I haven't tried any video streaming since there is no Myth front end for Android yet.
As a work around for using Netflix outside of the USA.
I can use Netflix USA very easily on my pc but I haven't figured out how to do it with the chromecast.
I don't have a fancy router and standard vpns don't seem to work.
So maybe if one could cast the Netflix tab on the browser as a "regular" tab, instead of rerouting it to the Netflix app on the chromecast.. Anyone thought of a way to do this?

Have you tried casting the chrome tab that you are playing Netflix in instead of hitting the cast button in the Netflix player?

Yeah it doesn't work, it will redirect it to Netflix app.
If you hit learn more, it will show that it doesn't support plug-ins like silverlight or QuickTime.
Maybe once Netflix switches to html 5

I knew I had done this before so I played it with some. I was able to get video to cast but it wouldn't send audio. I guess when I played with it before I saw the video and went along my way. Maybe use google remote desktop and login to another machine and play netflix while casting the remote tab? Its not perfect and its far from pretty but it works.

Hahahahah well I guess it DOES work, but my wifi is far too slow to handle it properly.
Interesting enough, the cast entire screen feature works okay for me (some lags here and there, could be performance issues because of my low end laptop) , but it's watchable.
If only it had freaking sound.
Oh well the remote desktop app didn't have sound at first either.

Works fine for me but I have to bump it down to 480p. From my chromebook.

A router that can support Linux commands is not all that expensive. You might want to look into that again.

Take a quick search and you will find your answer rather than posting a duplicate thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/help/slimport-t2907272
Chromecast is not your only option however. You can use miracast if you are rooted, you just need to modify the build prop to enable it. I use miracast quite a bit and it works quite well for me.
I was developing some software for Chromecast when I discovered that it is only 720p, even on the Ultra model. So I decided to look into offscreen rendering on Android, which is possible. But I haven't been able to quite figure out how I could make a phone render an image and then send it to the Chromecast. All the streaming protocols it seems to support require some crazy backed server setup with tons of files, am I missing something stupid or is it just a pain?
Have you looked into UPnP?
I believe it is pretty simple. I tried to do something similar in the past, but the (old) phone on which I tried to set it up kept crashing.
If it's for personal use, you can use BubbleUPnP. It's good.

I thought that was only for port forwarding, if I could make something use that to stream to a Chromecast that would be great.
What would I need to do on the computer/phone and on the Chromecast receiver to make this work?
This would be aimed for a real release, so using another app wouldn't fly in my opinion.

Chromecast is UPnP-ready, I believe. So, you won't have to do anything on it.
I don't really know what you have to do on the PC/phone, since I have only tried it with that app.
But, I believe UPnP might be the protocol you need. Look into it.

I'm not finding anything other than software packages that are for streaming video files. I am not finding any info on how to actually program a streamer.
