Good evening everyone. :3
My I wanted to root and put a new ROM in my phone, and it didn't succed so well as I'd hoped for. /:
First off I I did a factory reset using the tool in settings. (That's a full wipe, right?)
After that I rooted my phone using this root thingie, and I chose to use Method 2: Root + CWM recovery, and I followed everything correctly and it seemed to have worked out fine, I had the CWM & the superuser app in my phone after the restart. c: I did not touch them though!
Anyways, before the rooting, I put the ROM in my DCIM library, and I chose to use the CHECKROM, V4.
So when I finished the rooting, I went to this ''volume up'' mode, and installed the ROM. C:
Once again everything seemed to go with the flow.
When the installation was complete & it said ''Everything is good, restart your phone''. I did, and now the screen is black, the only thing I see when I start it is the white text saying ''Samsung GT-N7000'', and it blurs/fades away.
I can't enter volume up mode (Recovery mode?), but I can enter the download mode.
FYI: After the rooting and the installtation of the ROM I made a backup!
I can't find my phone in my computer either, so I can't reach any files. /:
Please users of XDA, help me. :3
Yours sincerely Viktor
Edit: The phone is up and running now, flashed it back to the stock rom using Dr.Ketan's guide. .
Thanks a lot for that mate. C:<3
Now I'll try to root it & put a new ROM it again, I'll update this post wheter or not I succed.
Theres a thread like this at the top of the other forum. Enter download mode and flash stock rom using odin.

Yup, I've read it.. x:
But flashing this & dat, it doesn't make any sense to me. /:
And I've said I've been up all night reading, trying to learn how to do etc etc. x:
It's so frikkin' hard. o:
Did you flash the stock rom and is it ok now?

Uhm, I have no idea.. x:
When the phone didn't start I used Odin, followed a guide and ''put in a'' stockrom in the phone, but it was so buggy, I couldn't be in the menus because it crashed... x:
So I had to do a factory reset, and now the phone is working, but I can't use the Zergrush & the other guides to root it now.. :c

You probably flashed a kl7 / 8 / la1-4 rom which are not directly rootable. You need to flash a older rom. Go to development forum and find out more.

I would download and flash a older rootable firmware version (afaik anything before KL7/KL8/LA1 ...) using Odin.
After that root and flash CF-Root kernel using Method 2 as described here.
Important: You need to use the right CF-Root kernel for the firmware version you flashed!
Next step would be booting into recovery and making a backup with CWM.
After that flash the rom you want to try using CWM in recovery mode.
Some devs advice to reboot twice after each flashing.
Search the instructions in the thread of the rom you want to flash for info about wiping (checkrom devs advise to do fullwipe before flashing).
First boot after flashing a rom might take some time, just wait a few minutes.
This is the CF-Root thread, also worth reading.

Are you sure I don't have the right firmware right now?
I got this one, N7000XBKK4 ------ 2.3.6 2011 November------- N7000OXXKK5--------------------- Nordic countries -----------------. And I downloaded and flashed it with Dr.ketan's guide.
I have tried to root it with CF now several times, but all it says when I start the root thingy is ''--- STARTING ----
--- WAITING FOR DEVICE''
After that it doesn't move at all. ):
Did you make sure to
- enable "USB DEBUGGING" (Menu\Settings\Applications\Development)?
- enable "UNKNOWN SOURCES" (Menu\Settings\Applications)?
Don't have Kies/Odin running while rooting, exit antivirus, pc suites, etc.
If it still doesn't work after that I'm afraid I can't help you.

Yup, both of those where enabled, and kies were closed.
At this moment I am rooting using the zergrush exploit, I found the problem in the Rooting thread.
About Win7 64 bits user:
please try to run the "runme.bat" before connect the phone to computer.
1.disconnect your phone & computer
2.run "runme.bat", you can see cmd box, and process will stop on:

Yes I made an hard reset before I started the rooting.
I'll try to fix the ROM, again.. x: I'll be back soon to inform you of my success.. (;
Yours sincerely Viktor
H'okai, the rooting and the installation of the ROM was succesful.
Thing is that the booting loops all the time, and I never come to the home screen.
First it starts with the Samsung GT-N7000, and moves on to the blue stripes & dots(looks like your in space or something. :3 )
After that it gets stuck on the part when it says Samsung and it pulsases in blue around the logo.
After that the booting sequence restarts, and I've tried to install the ROM using CWM Recovery three times, and it still loops. /:
Yours sincerely Viktor
Edit: Googled and found this thread.
After the wipe in recovery mode the boot loop started and I can now enter the phone.
Quite interesting with this WIN7 64bit thing, didn't know about that.
Glad you got it running.
Don't forget to backup. ;-)

My summary of your best options:
Follow from Step 2 and use the already-rooted.bat file
OR
The better (in my opinion) way:
Purchase Mobile Odin Pro(MOP) from the market and go get the CF Root Kernel that matches your firmware to get CWM. Just put the Kernel on your sdcard and run MOP, make sure EverRoot and all injections are checked, select file, find kernel, flash. Done.
MOP has also enabled us to retain root when flashing stock firmware updates by using the EverRoot and injections options, however you will lose most CWM functions when this is done. To regain CWM, you simply follow the same steps as above to update to a matching CF Root Kernel.
Have fun, and be sure to hit the thanks button for Ketan and Chainfire!
Dear beestee,
So: I have Kernel KK2 - Download This - and Extract
then : I am Already Rooted - Execute "already-rooted.bat" and follow the instructions
is there any side effects ? like format ot can not Upgrade via OTA or else?
Is there any thing need to be packed up first? like the original kernel if this method will change it
Nothin side effect, you can upgrade over OTA, BUT If you update over OTA/kies, you will lose Root.
So you have to use CWM or Mobile odin to update newer ROM

Ok I done it and it working, but I found that CWM is a program now you can access from phone not like in HTC where you must inter bootloader and MAGLDR to inter CWM
I can make the backup and restore from inside the program - right?
You can get it with entering recovery too, you have to press Home + Vol UP + Power to enter in recovery mode.
you can simply do it with inside app - restart in recovery
when you give command to backup, it will restart and auto enter in recovery mode and finish it

EDIT: Problem solved!
Hi all,
I just tried to install CWM Recovery on a Samsung Galaxy GT-I9000, and it didn't work.
The phone was (originally) running under Android Froyo (2.2), and unrooted. First of all, I used UnlockRoot to root it, and it worked fine. I checked the root access right after using dedicated apps (rootChecker, sdMaid, etc), to confirm.
Then I wanted to install a ClockWorkMod recovery. I followed this guide (on the CyanogenMod wiki). I downloaded and installed Kies to have the USB drivers installed. Then I downloaded Heimdall (my computer is running under Windows 7) + hardcore CMW Kernel. I booted into download mode, then installed the driver. (Step 2 on the tutorial). Then next step was flashing the kernel. It suceeded, and the phone powered off. Turning it on, it just starts to make endless boot loops. The system won't start running, and it is not possible to access to the CWM recovery menu. But the download mode is still available.
So, does anyone have pointers to help me fix this issue ? i would like to have CMW installed, and then install a custom ROM (the latest Jelly Bean based Cyanogenmod release).
Thanks in advance.
Just try again installing stock Rom with odin
See my post Here

Hi Donovan,
Thanks for the swift answer. And yes, it definitely worked. I downloaded this stock rom, and I flashed it successfully with Odin v3 1.85. I am running now under Android 2.3.6, but I lost the root access. Rooting it won't be a problem, hopefully. I still have access to the download mode, and to the stock recovery. I'll try once again to dive into the ClockWorkMod Recovery, and then install a Jelly Bean rom.
I'm hitting the thanks button right after posting this.
Thanks back at ya. Cf root you can find here

Dont forget the wiping before flashing jb.
Most times u have 2 flash custom twice.
If first time hangs just pull battery out, get in recovery & flash second time or third if its needed.
If it says install completed then its done
Much pleasure flashing the i9000
Actually, I spoke to fast, the problem just got much worse.
Okay, just after flashing the stock rom (2.3.6), everything was fine. Then I downloaded the latest stable CM10 (direct link).
I booted into recovery mode (CWM Recovery, actually) and I did try to install (i din't not forget wiping data/cache, dalvik and batt stats), but it failed, saying the package was incorrect. I tried many times, copying again and again the zip file, same problem.
Then I downloaded a previous version, CM9. I tried to installed it, and i run into a very weird error, saying an assertion failed when trying to install the package.
Something like;
assert failed: getprop("ro.product.device") == "galaxys" || getprop ("ro.build.product") == "galaxys" ... getprop ("ro.build.device") = GT-I9000 etc...
Click to collapse
And then installation program aborts (error code 7.)
My assumption, is that it looks like my phone is no longer being considered by a samsung gt i9000, according to the installer. Weird, though...
Now, I still have access to the recovery. But the phone can't boot, as everything was wiped. Much worse, I can switch to download mode, but i can't flash back the stock rom, Odin can't detect the phone (I tried with Odin v3 1.82, 1.83 and 1.87).
I'm getting desperate, any pointers ?
Thanks in advance!
Did u try to flash the custom more then 1 time?
Oh yes, I did it like a dozen of times. And I still get the same error.

gti9000 rooting
Hi Donovan, could you help me please:fingers-crossed:
I've purchased a unlocked galaxy s gti9000 and I want to root it. Something I've never done on any phone as I'm a complete noob. I managed to install XWJW1 FIRMWARE. I've now got as follows PDA:I9000XWJW6
PHONE: I9000XWJW1
CSC: I9000XSAJV8.
All the links to the file for rooting seem to be dead. I've found some for rooting XXJVU, But that's not right is it? I would really like to try ICS or Jelly Bean. I must admit I'm nervous about this as it's taken me a while to get a phone as good as this one!! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Thanks Roland will give it a try tonight.
Well, that is now solved. I tried something silly that ended up working fine.
As the cm9-smtd update package couldn't run (because of the assertion fail), I just opened the zip package, then edited the file META-INF/com/android/google/updater-script.
I basically removed the assert statement at the top of the file.
CMW recovery installed it properly, without any err. I now have an ICS based rom (Cyanogen Mod 9).
Problem definitely solved now. Going to make a Nandroid backup.
Thanks all, again.
Today I tried to update my phone to a new custom rom.
I followed the instructions of the threads and tried to get it to work.
Of course it didn't work or else I wouldn't be here right now asking for help.
Here's the current situation.
I am able to boot into download mode + recovery mode and also boot into cwmr and install a different kernel.
I used pc odin to install it each time and it does pass and the rom (i've tried installing a gingerbread rom so that I can try everything again) does install.
the problem is that it is currently stuck in a boot loop at the "Samsung galaxy note gt-N7000" screen.
I have looked up dr.ketan's posts and tried some too.
currently i am booting abyss note kernel 42cwt touch original. (I know for sure it is a workable kernel because I've been using it this whole time.
here's what i've done. please tell me what i've done wrong and the possible ways to reverse it.
1. backed up everything
2. went into recovery
3. factory reset/cache clear
4. use pc odin to install new kernel (since I was looking into switching to another kernel anyways)
5. use pc odin again to install gingerbread rom (I do get the green light saying it did get installed
6. phone auto reboots
7. it gets stuck at the boot loop like i have mentioned above
i will try to attach a few pictures of my note as soon as I can so you can see what's going on with it.

Right now it reboots to 3e recovery.
The rom that I tried to inject to it is currently a the stock gingerbread rom from dr. Ketans thread.
The rom that I had on it is the official ics rom for the hk region.
The rom that I wanted to inject to it was a custom jb rom that uses hydracore as a kernel.
Thanks!!

Well I am not sure but I soft bricked my phone when I tried that Abyss Kernel. In my view Hydracore is safe. Philz is super safe.
Flash ICS which matches your region using Odin. If phone boots flash Philz, If not, then be ready to read a lot of stuff or get phone repaired.

Hey guys. my note seems to have cooperated and allowed me to flash a new rom and also a new kernel. Here's the catch though, now it's stuck in the samsung logo and won't boot beyond that. Any suggestions of what to do? I am continually searching on the forums to find a solution.
At least I'm happy to know it's not a brick that can't be fixed.
Thanks nokiamodeIn91 for your help so far. I really appreciate it.

I currently flashed the abyss note kernel 42 cw touch and I downloaded an old gb rom from sammobile .
Here's what I did.
1. Put my phone into download mode
2. Run as admin on PC Odin
3. Selected the Abyss kernel then flashed it.
4. Boot into the cmw, wiped cache then booted the phone into download mode again.
5. Then I installed the old GB Rom on to my phone and restarted it.
6. Phone starts, loads past the GT-N7000 logo and goes into the samsung boot logo.
7. Phone repeats the animation of the samsung logo a time or two then restarts on its own. This loops until the phone is completely drained. I know that the rom works because that was the rom that I used to root my phone. I definitely don't mind downloading another rom if I have to.
my current goal, if we can fix this, is to quickly just update to the official jb rom for n7000 and not play around with the rooting and such until I have even more time to learn more.
at least I know for sure my phone isn't hardbricked, I would imagine I have either missed a step or something that caused the problem.
I have read through the forum and I did come across one post talking about checking my phone's partition and such.
I got to be honest, I'm really not technically skilled enough at this point in time to dare to mess around with that type of thing yet especially with so much coding to make sense of it. (I know this is kind of dumb to say especially when I rooted my phone and screwed up this bad). More importantly, I don't even know for sure if I need to do a partition or not.
Please let me know what I did wrong and how I can fix it.
I got a question though (out of curiosity), how come there's no toolkit for the n7000 like the S3 and also the note 2???
this is the name of the old gb rom that I tried flashing.
N7000ZSKJ6_N7000OZSKJ6_N7000XXKJ6_HOME.tar
I actually have tried several other roms as well (from GB-JB, official and custom) and all of them so far has gotten to the samsung boot logo
I have read on the forums to try using Philz-cwm 6 kernel but I don't know if it'd solve my problem.
let me show you one of the threads I have read, if I dived into the wrong material let me know and I won't consider using it (or learn how to use it) for my current situation
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1661590&highlight=samsung+logo+bootloop&page=2
like I was saying before, I really have no experience in coding so all the things that really made near no sense to me. I understand the basic concept of what its trying to do it's just seems like a very unsafe method for me to try especially when I lack the necessary knowledge in this area of expertise.
did you flash the GB rom using the standard PIT file ?
also you could try with the 5 file flashing method from this thread

How you did the rooting.
Did you confirm rooting.
Did you try to flash any other rom or just kernel.

Root was oke rooted from recovery with Root_SuperSu 0.95
root was confirmed with root checker
i can go to recovery vol up + home + power
Until now brick isn't confirmed here. Think positive.
Alternatives:
In recovery: restore a backup - if you made one.
In recovery: install philz kernel, reboot into recovery, install a Custom Rom
In download mode: install a Stock Rom oder a prerooted Rom with PC Odin
Then we continue with analyzing - if not already solved then.

i am new to android so i need a detailed tutorial on how to do these things.
Didn't make backup.
Well there are very detailed guides here http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1346&nocache=1 Just take your time.
1:- search for speedmod kernel (as Philz needs information to match your ROM), connect your Phone to PC and see if you can put that zip on SD card. then boot your phone in recovery Vol up etc and flash that zip.
reboot recovery and wipe data Factory reste and dalvik. reboot phone and hope it works.
If not then from same forum find a suitable ICS/GB rom and flash it using PC Odine. detailed giud and downloads are in same thread.
BTW. This galaxy note I have is my first Android phone and I have not only soft bricked it once and recovered, but also have flashed 7 different roms my current rom is 4.1.2 JB. And I did all this just by reading these forums. you check my post count. So my suggestion is take your time, search for correct threads and trust me there are more than enough people here to help.
You are right. I have flashed several ics and leaked jb custom roms and note is my first smart phone. Believe me, not even a soft brick. All because reading in details of this forum, before doing anything.

Hello Team,
I thought of going for JB, before that I tried in googleplay verified through (Root Checker, joeykrim) whether it is rooted or not.. while the root checker says as "not rooted"
1. Through of the website it said tobe root so I installed through ODINv.3.04 : PhilZ-cwm6-XXLSZ-OXA-4.63.tar.md5 (It said PASS) by default and (auto reboot) & (F.reset time) checked.
2. Device restarted with Yellow Exclamation mark with dead black screen.
3. Next I have done is Wipe Data/Factory Reset and Wipe Cache Partition but nothing worked.
4. PhilZ Touch 4 CWM Base version 6.0.2.8
Finally, I forgot to enable Debugging On. before entering into overall process.
Any help will be highly appreciated.
Thanks,
Sathish .J

Hi Sathish,
went through your post.
Just answer the following to get the things clear:
1. What files did you flash?
2. Did you flash only the philz kernel or anything else?
3. Which version did you had before flashing the things?
And short and sweet what i can get from your message is that you just installed the kernel and not the whole OS (JB)
So just try answering or doing as above.
Press THANKS if this helped
Hello coolfire000,
Thanks for getting back. Actually I tried for getting root access through this package (PhilZ-cwm6-XXLSZ-OXA-4.63.tar.md5).
Anyhow I retried back all through custom rom.
Nothing to worry.

As I understand u had been flashed Philz xxlsz kernel which is based on JB. While u r flashing this kernel you were on a rom other than JB (Maybe GB or ICS) Thats why phone did not boot. Just follow below step may help you to recover your phone
Download n copy any custom rom based on JB XXLSZ to your memory card via Card reader since your phone is not functioning currently.
Boot your phone into recovery mode (Hold Vol up + Home and power key at sam time)
Do all wipes. Then select install from external sd card. Select previously copied custom rom. Wait until its fininsh every thing.. phone will reboot
Hope this help you.
For yellow exclamation triangle you may remove using CF trinngleaway app. It's available in the playstore.
