The 7 and 10.1 seem to get fairly good ROMS. Does anyone know if either/both work for the 8.9?

None of them would fully work.
7.7: Proboably a softbrick
10.1: Would probably boot but definitely not fully functional.

Hello. So what is the likelihood of the Nexus' Gingerbread working on the Cappy?
Regards
You might have more luck if you posted this in the Nexus S forums. Plus, we'll have to wait till the developers get their hands on it.

Depends on how different the hardware is between the two phones. Besides the NEC chip and the FFC - they are similiar - but I bet it'd take some tweaking to get it to work right.
And there is no Source code from Sammy yet so we can only speculate.

I'd say the first phone that gets GB after Nexus S will be Galaxy S. Nexus S IS Galaxy S, pretty much same hardware, so there will be very little tweaking needed driver/hardware-wise to get SGS to run gingerbread.
I wouldn't be surprised if we had a stable GB build before we get Froyo from the god-awful AT&T.
Inside the new I9100XXKG1 (Android 2.3.4 for SGS II) there's a mention of the Samsung GT-P6000. Is this a new Galaxy Tab? Resolution is 1280x800.
Anyone know?
Didn't Samsung mention a 8.9" tab? Could this be it? I haven't heard a peep about the 8.9 since it was announced.

I think it will be the TAB7 ....
Where did you find this info?
Maybe this could be the first Android 3.2 7" Tab?

Hi guys!
I recently purchased a Galaxy Tab 8.9. Now, I have a few beginner's questions to ask before I go ahead.
I would like to root my Galaxy Tab 8.9. How easy is it? And how easy is it to screw it up? Will I cause a permanent damage to the device if I screw it up? Is screwing up or permanent damage such as hard brick even possible?
I would also like to install ICS/CM9 on it. But, I also intend to use this device for Video calls over VOIP (using Skype). I believe that that this device does NOT have official ICS yet. But is it going to get one (i.e. Samsung planning to upgrade this and if so, is there a timeline?). And I also note that ICS/CM9 ROMs don't have camera working. Is there a way to work around this so that I may run CM9 and still have camera? Else, what is the best ROM you guys suggest for a person who needs a usable camera?
I want to be careful with this device, as I just bought it and I don't want to screw it up and end up with a $400 paper weight. So, please let me know if it is safe to root and install ROMs on it.
Thank you!
Root is very easy and almost impossible to ****. Samsung devices are usually very hackable.
The 8.9 has unofficial ICS ROMs of both the AOSP and the CM9 flavor.
Neither has camera support but it is coming eventually. If nothing else, Samsung has already promised a ICS for the 8.9 so its a matter of when not if.
I hope you enjoy the cmmnity and our new tablet
Hi All,
Is there a working ICS port on Tab P1010 (Wi Fi only). I am planning to get this TAB and would love to know whether i can get ICS working here.
regards,
Nandi
In fact, yes. Motafoca (the only dev working on it) said that a Cyanogenmod 7.2 is coming soon. After he make the 7.2, he'l start to work on Cyanogenmod 9.
Look, if i was you, i wont buy this device (just with a good offer). Actually, coust $350, well with this money, you can wait for Nexus tab, that is coming in jully (rumors) and will coust $150-250.

Seems like motafoca already hits "the wall" it is so silent over there at the forum. I seriouly think he needs help from other devs here.
To OP, if the tab doesn't mean much to you (ie: a gift from girlfriend or something) consider selling it now and save up for some other tablet out there with many devs supporting it. P1010 is the black hole for the joy you deserve to get using android device. Using device with many devs at least you know that device isn't going to die after the manufacture decided to not support it anymore.

Well
I'm just hoping for Motafoca's nice experience with Android devices.
Soon, we will get Cyan 7.2! Woohoo!

It clearly says its for the P1000 model.
The wifi model is P1010.
The good news is you can make your Galaxy Tab P1010 to look like a JellyBean device although the fact that it is still a Gingerbread. http://techcentralz.com/how-to-upgrade-galaxy-tab-p1010-gingerbread-to-jellybean-look-alike/
tested on my p1010, no problem so far
Does anyone know where I can find roms for the 10.1 wifi-only P7510? All the roms listed seem to be for gsm/cmda or for the smaller (7") wifi model. I had an old ICS build at one point for my tablet, but I can't seem to find that one anymore either.
Alternately, does anyone know if I can use other roms on the P7510?
Thanks!

Dude, your in wrong forum.
If you want 10.1 roms go to the 10.1 forum. This is the P1000 forum (first 7" tab) and is a completely different device.
given the name of the forums...
Samsung Galaxy Tab -->Galaxy Tab General --> [Q] ROMs for the P7510?
That's completely misleading.
Thanks though.

How is it completely misleading? Its you who is completely confused.
The P1000 was the first Galaxy Tab, It was/is just called "Galaxy Tab".
What you have is a newer model called "Galaxy Tab 10.1" which is a completely different device. Also, you obviously didn't even bother to look properly or you would have seen the other Tab forums.
There is more then one Galaxy Tab so obviously there is going to be more then one Galaxy Tab forum, pretty much common sense really.
