hi.
Is it possible to install stock rom from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997 wit cwm recovery?
Will instaling stock rom with cwm recovery overwrite my cwm recovery? If I am rootwd now, will I have still root after installing stock rom?
If you install a stock Rom, you'll lose both your CWMR and root, unless you do it using Mobile Odin.
yes you can flash Stock ROM with CWM. n you have to select 'keep CF root' when it ask.
For detail guide, Download guide from last link on my signature you will find ' Update ROM using CWM' in New folder.

I must've skimmed the OP, hence the inappropriate reply.
My Note was never bricked BTW. I had flashed angelom's v1, not v1.1 or v1.2, and managed to pull back in time.
Your posts are always to the point and very helpful, too.

Thanks for your reply, but your guide is about cwm manager, but not cwm recovery.
What about cwm recovery, can I update rom and keep root and cwm?

You need cwm from cf, with stock recovery can't flash any rom.
You are rooted already then get cwm first.
You said to keep cwm, means u have it, stock recovery can't b erased. Stock recovery hav limited set of function. I believe u have still confusion in understanding cwm, just read more.

I think you can not install stock rom with cwm recovery. But you can restore backups.
There is difference between CWM - its and application which can be opened when you boot in the phone, and CWM Recovery - you can access it without/before booting in the phone.
Sorry if my answer is wrong.

CWM recovery OR better term is stock recovery, which exist on all device(inbuilt stock function), which can be access with Vol up + Power + Home
This have limites set of function, Just wipe cache, n wipe data.
Niether stock Nor custome ROM can be flashed
Nither backup Nor Restore is possible with it.
For this fuction, you need to have CWM application, which can available only if you have your device rooted. If tou have flash CWM, then you can access it with same method(three keys), but menu will be more advanced.
Hope it should be clear Now.
n7000 stock android with cwm installed
Hello there,
I wanted to install kitkat on my note1, n7000. I rooted the phone with philz cwm6 ddlsc. Everything went good. I then tried to install the kitkat 4.4.4 and it keeps giving an error and does not install. Later doing some research i figured i need a version of 6.4 and above of cwm in order to install 4.4.4. So I decided to leave all this and go back to stock 4.1.2. I did not unfortunately create a backup. Now that im trying to install it through odin the stock android, odin does not detect the phone. I have wiped off cache, user data and dalvik cache. Everytime the phone is booted it goes to cwm menu.
Please help me install the stock android and remove cwm/root.
Your help is much appreciated.

Although this is the note 1 forum but yes usually that's how it works. If you backed it up using cwm, then restoring should also work. You will need to do a factory reset 1st.
Hello,
I've tried installing v30a on my optimus 2x with these instructions but when I try installing a package from here, the nvflash thing turns into a s/w update screen. I've followed djmcnz's instructions and have been successful in installing nvflash but when I try to update something with a .bat file, it will turn into the s/w update screen. Please help!
Download this All-In-One P990-Toolkit then follow the on-screen instructions this should work.
Put Topogigi V30A cwm flashable rom and the SP2 kernel zip onto your external sd card.
Boot into CWM ( vol down + power) flash rom ( if doesn't boot reboot into recovery and flash the kernel zip)

I am trying it a bit detailed...
You do not really remove the old one, just flash the new one over it. And how you flash it depends on your image.
Zip´s (.zip) you can flash with your current recovery direct on your phone, and tar files (.tar) or the unpacked images (.img) you have to flash with odin or something similar from your computer.
Regards.

Hi
I updated CWM to 6.??? to try a KitKat ROM but I want to go back to a Gingerbread one. I don't know how to downgrade the CWM to 5. When I try and install a CWM 5 zip file via CWM it gives me lots of errors.
Is it possible to downgrade the CWM?
thanks
Paul
You can either flash stock rom via odin on comp and reroot, or download and install mobile odin ported to our device. And then flash the odin flashable cwm.tar file through mobile odin.

You cannot downgrade from android 4.x to android 2.x. That's because 4.0.4 and higher roms have a different bootloader. So don't try to flash gingerbread over kitkat, but if you tried and your phone didn't bricked let me know!!!

I know well what CWM stand for and what it is. I know he was asking how to downgrade from CWM 6 to CWM 5 but he was asking also for a downgrade from KitKat to Gingerbread. I just said that it could brick the phone.
For the CWM downgrade you must:
1) reboot in recovery mode
2) install the latest PX recovery for galaxy ace
3) reboot recovery
4) install CWM5
5) reboot recovery
6) done!

Actually downgrading from KitKat to Gingerbread will not brick the phone as long as you flash it through odin. Then again flashing any Gingerbread custom rom will not brick your phone as they are made to work only on CWM5. Hence flashing Gingerbread custom rom through CWM6 will only give you errors. Its always safe to install Gingerbread stock rom using odin. Here is the link on how to install stock rom using odin along with all firmwares and drivers (check "Preparations" section),
Flash stock rom on Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830 using odin/
Once installed, go to recoverymod and do a wipe data/ factory reset & wipe cache (otherwise bootloop might occur). Then restart. Now you have successfully flashed the stock rom. Here is the link for rooting and installing CWM5 on Samsung Galaxy Ace,
How To Root and Unroot Samsung Galaxy Ace?

Also if you still want to use KitKat, then you can use the KitKat version flashable through CWM5 by @Salim El Yabouri. Here is the link,

Hope I Helped

1. I proceeded as you said, to downgrade from 6.0.4.6 to 5.0.2.6.
It worked.
Thank you very much indeed.
2. Do you know if there is any 6.0.4.7 zip or 6.0.4.8 zip for s5830?

Well i mentioned it earlier in a post but still instead of upgrading to 6.0.4.7 mardon's new recovery has more feastures: Check this link.
But I recommend 5.0.2.6 as it can flash almost all zips without any problem whatsoever.
As written on mardon's page that 6.0.5.3_1 was ported to Ace for flashing his kk custom rom

Thank you.
About your remarks:
1. cwm 6.0.4.8/philz edition did not work. a) it has mount problems; b) it prevented android 2.3.5 from booting.
2. You, before editing, said recovery is independent of the rom on the phone. If this is the case, then why all cwm 6 versions are in trouble with /system on my phone? and why mardon said that won't work with stock rom?

Cwm 6 or 5 cannot mount /system /data or /cache bcoz cwm cannot handle samsung's filesystem rfs used in galaxy ace. This problem has no solution except changing to custom rom or using cfroot kernel which has ability to change fs type to ext4.also it is quite better than stock kernel. Proceed with caution. Also i think you need android 2.3.6 for cf root kernel. You can download official android 2.3.6 from sammobile.com and cf root kernel for s5830
from Google. Also do try cwm 5.0.2.6 once it can work.
And btw flashing 2.3.6 will wipe data cache root everything.
If you choose to flash 2.3.6, try cf auto root kernel. Cm roms use ext4 by default with quite better kernels.

1. CWM 5.0.2.6 does not have any mounting problem.

3. Can "cfroot kernel" be used along with my official 2.3.5 rom?

5. If I install 2.3.6, then will I have "cfroot kernel" and consequently can I install CWM 6 without mounting problem?

If possible, flash this Tangerine 7.1 in your currently installed recovery
Flash this stock FOTAkernel too to make sure that there is no recovery in the FOTAkernel
Reboot your device. To get into recovery, use the volume down button when the lights appears. This will summon TWRP
Wipe everything you can.
go to "Wipe"
Advanced Wipe
Tick Dalvik Cache, System, Cache, Data
Slide the slider to wipe the ticked partitions
Go back to main menu
Flash the ROM zip
Go to "Install"
Tap on "Storage: xxxxxx" to select your storage that contains the flashable zip of your ROM and gapps. Assuming you put it in the sdcard, then it should be "External SDCard"
Navigate to the ROM zip, and select it
After that, hit the button "Add more Zips"
Make sure "Zip file signature verification" is disabled
Slide the slider to start flashing process
Choose "Reboot system"
Your steps end here.

Please use this thread instead of PMing me It would be better to ask such questions publicly.
To get yourself a persisting TWRP, kindly use the method on this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xpe...-twrp-f2fs-support-xperia-sp-huashan-t3150230
Flash the zip and you are done. The zip is signed, so if you dont have any recovery but Cyanogen Recovery you can actually flash this.
