V20N: Gingerbread? REALLY??? - LG Optimus Black

Or Froyo with refreshened apps and planted OS ids, as a last marketing resort?
I'm taking this "upgrade" with a BIG ROCK OF MINERAL SALT (not just a grain of sea salt).

chill...it's not FroYo....the changes between UI of 2.2 and 2.3 is minimal. even most of those changes are streamlined my the overlaying Optimus UI 2.0
nd btw, in which cell have u found drastic difference between 2.2 and 2.3??huh???...the UI overhaul that u are looking for is not existing in 2.3
may ICS bring us some goodies

If LG stays on Optimus UI, nothing would change much even in ICS. Only thing would change that if a big carrier decides to slap its own UI. Like Marquee of Sprint. Inserting Sprint ID and Gingerbread UI. I flashed that Marquee zip.
Imagine ICS with Optimus UI. It's like Froyo all over again. I bet LG will stay on their UI.

as it is when CM9 comes out...i'll sure switch over to that, even if LG releases the ICS update

This post is very stupid... why you don't delete it ?... I mean, more important posts have been deleted for being redundant...

Hey pal, get over it! It's clearly GB. The are new things implemented, system is moving faster and smoother. Flash CM if you want "the real GB" or get a new launcher.

u know, the only two things that keep me to stock GB are the stock LG camera and the "G-Key" & gestures.
sometimes i feel the black should NOT have had these features. it would have been easier to switch over to CM.
i feel like a boy with chocolate ogling another boy having his ice cream

There's a reason why the version number only incremented by .1. It's an upgrade, but not a huge one. Point is, it's finally here, and still, there is unhappiness.....

New Motorola MOTOBlur UI

Does anyone know if there is a leak of the new MotoBlur UI or rom? or if it's even possible to port to the G1? ... I know it was just annouced but there isn't a section for it and i wouldn't mind having some of the widgets and or features that have already been shown. Does anyone have any additional info on this besides what's already been released my motorola today?

i figured it would work in either section but it is development based b/c it is a new UI that hasn't been seen ... I was more or less tryin to spark interest into this.
Just in case someone didn't know, here some info http://www.engadget.com/2009/09/10/live-from-motorolas-android-announcement-at-mobilize-09/
Looks awesome, but i think the device only has the qualcomm ~550MHz cpu..
Waiting for the Motorola Sholes with Snapdragon, whoooo
As long as it runs on the Qualcomm architecture that the Dream/Magic/Hero etc. run on, there's no reason why it could not be ported to the Dream. Once it comes out, that is.
this will probably take months before its leaked and weeks before its usable

Hero STILL doesn't have bluetooth, based on past results, it's very very hard to port this stuff over in a usable manner. The devs are the best, but if we still don't have Hero working, what are the odds of us getting this one anytime soon?

I'd say there's a high chance of getting a full working version of "MOTOBLUR" on the G1 before a working version of Sense UI.
Of course nobody can comment before the phone/rom is released but at first glance it doesn't look like the core of android has been edited much, if at all. It's simply the stock android home screen with 2 extra shortcuts at the bottom and some new widgets.
Even the calendar app has remained the same.

go to this page and click on the MotoBlur Demo link on the right hand side to get
a full demo of the UI.
I like the fact that your "inbox" contains messages/gmails/fbook messages all in one list.
And it has the same screen res and 528mhz processor as the g1 so it shouldn't be too much work to get it on there. This is way more exciting than hero, cuz the hero roms are so slow

agreed i love the universal inbox as well as the Happenings screen/widget. even if that was all we got, i would be happy lol
what people need to realize is that its not about what official rom we want.. its what from each rom we want.. cause with the way devs keep taking things from all the new roms and putting into current ones.. all we need is to take the best from each and make one bomb rom..lol

devs havent got bluetooth to work cuz the hero source code is closed source. if motorola keeps the source code for the blur UI open, then devs have
all around access to not only port the build but framework, bluetooth, led's,etc.
i hope we get a system dump soon this UI looks real good.. i dont like all the colors but im sure manups work'll take care of all that

Don't play with my emotions jc....lol. I'm hoping we can get this ported because all I really want from Hero is the HTC Music (got it) and the integrated social apps. This would be gold and for cyan to work his magic...

new UI choices?

hello all. I was just wondering if anyone could update on all possible UI's if more do exist besides Hero and the stock t-mob. I must say i do love Hero very much but more so for me the novelty has allready worn off or maybe im just board with it and love flashing roms. At any rate i was just wondering what else might be available to even try to port or is allready done and maybe just doesnt get any love. Thanks, Veritas
I'm in the same boat as ya. Been trying out different UIs mainly hero and stock ui. I somehow always end up back at the stock ui well cyanogen's ui. I'd say just stick with the fastest ui for now until hero is running completely smooth or buy the htc hero itself. =D
There is also OMS but a working port has yet to surface. There were some folks working on it a couple months ago, but I think they are waiting on a full dump of the Dopod a6188 (the China mobile version of Sapphire/Magic) which runs it. If you want to see what OMS looks like do a video search for Lenovo OPhone.

Your right, we're waiting for xDan to get this dump so can be ported over to dream. Also there is alot of themes (if you look in the theme section) There in a format of a update.zip.
the blur was announced this week. idk if ok to port because im not sure the ui is open.
anyone know whats the most stable hero rom out at the moment?

Yah, the Motorola "Blur" (mentioned in early post) for the Cliq phone would be the next option I think besides the Hero and stock G1. But the cliq is like an 850mhtz phone..If it can be ported, it will prolly have to be cut down to run smooth on G1 and the Hero UI on a G1 still has its issues after months and months of work by XDA devs. Not sure what is in store with the Samsung Bigfoot as far as UI goes, Haven't seen any UI pics, may just be stock donut. LG has an android phone coming out for UK only at this point, but that looks like stock donut.

actually jac 2.1 is not even close to be stable when compared to modaco / akirahs 1.5.1 and jacs 1.6r2a.
2.1 still has bugs that older builds like 1.5.1 and 1.6r2a dont have.

3.1″ HVGA Touch Screen, 320×480 pixels
Qualcomm MSM7201A 528 MHz
512 MB ROM, 256 RAM
114mm x 58mm x 15.6mm
the click is not a 850mhz phone. its 528mhz as you can see. and 256 ram... which is less than hero(288mb) so prolly BLUR might run smoother than hero when fully optimized.
the only android phone that has a processor higher than 600mhz is the sony ericsson xperia x3(rachael) at 1ghz
yeah i have thinking of trading in my g1 for a cliq next month. but the new "ui" is basically widgets that are attached to a blur account. so i dont see this is working on the the g1 we will most likely get a launcher that has 5 home screens and the colors but i doubt much else.

Looks Like Froyo is it for the Vogue

2nd that. motoblur is cool but not as cool as froyo.
I'm a bit skeptical.
Google wants to intentionally fragment Android into 2.2 for low-end devices, and 3.0 (and above) for high-end devices? Why do so? For "performance" reasons? I don't buy it.
Plus, Android has always (natively) supported as low as QVGA, 240x320. This seems to imply that they'll no longer support it, and possibly might not even support 320x480--especially if a "3.5"+" screen is required. This would mean all the applications and development work that went into making older apps work would be for naught.
Something just doesn't make sense. I guess we'll know when Google announces it for certain, but this just doesn't seem completely accurate to me.

[Q] Any non-touchwiz ROMs out there?

I know that TeamHacksung is working on an ICS port and CM9 may unofficially be ported to the G-Note at some point, but that's all in the unforeseeable future.
And all the Gingerbread ROMs I see in the development section are ToucWizified.
Am I missing one, or did all the current custom rom "developers" keep their creations totally TouchWiz-bound?

my previous phone was a HTC hd2. yes window phone. rooted to run android 2.3 with sense and I can tell u, its even faster (scrolling, flip thru menus, contact scrolling) than my gnote. I can say, touchwiz is way way too bloated.
my old phone can use go widget launcher n is still smooth
gnote with 2x the hardware specs, lag!
I am also waiting for a pure rom, not a tweaked stock.
On sgs2 I used miui and it was really, really nice.

[REQ] ICS for LG Thrill/O3D

I know this is asking a lot, but I thought I'd just request it and throw it out there. I'm not a proffessional developer or anything that's for sure, but I don't think it should be that hard to port ICS to the Thrill/O3D. The only reason it's not out already is because literally nobody has been working on it, and it's a little upsetting to me. And to be honest, I could care less if the 3D capibilities worked on the ROM or not. ICS for LG Nitro has been released on XDA I believe, I've seen a video of it. Wouldn't it be easy just to port that release onto the Thrill instead of starting from scratch and creating ICS for the Thrill? Plus, I love the new UI LG has came up with for it's ICS phones, and I believe that UI is included for the released update for the Nitro. I don't know, I'm just throwing this out there since nobody seems interested in it anymore, maybe I can get some developers out there working on it? It'd be nice, but I'm not holding my breath.
That would be cool I would like to see this

I think they have to wait until the ICS source gets leaked or ICS official update for the LG Optimus 3D comes out.
Would be nice though.

Theres always a way, just not enough developers on this forum.
well i just did a little research last night and found out that the only device (from like 7 phones) that has our chipset cpu/gpu and is running ICS is the samsung galaxy tab 2 7.0
and lg is suposed 2 release ics for o3d on 3Q this year... so lets wait?
Looks like the LG Spectrum is close to getting ICS. At least LG is trying to update something here in the U.S. at a respectable time:
http://phandroid.com/2012/05/28/ice-cream-sandwich-leaked-for-the-lg-spectrum-over-the-air-update-rolling-out-soon/
Maybe the O3D doesn't have enough hardware to run ICS. And I used a ported Prada rom before, it really was built on O3D's v21d, just the framework of Prada. In short a developer can only insert mods and packages on our (built for O3D) roms, you even have to flash LG's compatible baseband to get a custom rom running properly
And I do believe the 3DMax was built to run ICS instead of our O3D, it's probably the only purpose
Guys , do we have any updates on this thread?? I'm dying to upgrade android on my LG Thrill.
P.S. I have spent some time to find something.
Unfortunately couldn't find ANYTHING
Big Thanks in advance
