Anyone having audio issues with .901? - Motorola Droid Bionic

Earpiece is killing me...sounds horrible! And when using the speaker I hear eco!

No problem for however my battery life was better on 893

Only issue I had on 901 was that my internal speaker (earpiece) had a hardware malfunction and sounded like a blown speaker. I ended up returning it to Verizon under warranty, as going back to 886 and 893 gave the same results.

I'm on .901, and headphones sound excellent.
The earpiece speaker does have some occasional "crackle" when set to its highest volume, so I just turn it down a couple notches to eliminate the crackle.

Speakerphone !!!

My speakerphone sucks!
Low in volume and kind of crackles and cuts in and out almost when talking on it. My girlfriend has the same issue! Anyone else having this problem our know of a fix or setting to help the problem??

I have to say my Bionic has one of the loudest speakers I've ever heard on a phone. I'm comparing this to my OG that I modded to be louder than stock and several iPhones. I also haven't noticed the crackles and cut outs. Maybe take back for replacement? Odd y'all both got bad ones tho...
Yeah my speaker is pretty damn loud compared to my previous phones where I would have to pick up the phone and point the speaker phone towards. Kinda defeated the purpose, now I can have it a few feet away and hear perfectly.
It's much better than my wife's Tbolt. I can hear it loud and clear.
Mine seems better than the Charge, but that's not saying much. I like it, it's loud and clear!
I think it's a pretty damn good speaker. Maybe not as good as my OG, but still great.
Wow alot of u have loud speakers. Maybe both of ours are bad. Can you tell me what settings
you have out on??

It would be nice to have the functionality to automatically activate speaker phone by putting the phone face down like the Thunderbolt.
Not doing anything special, just turning the volume all the way up. Well I have been rooted and removed all Verizon crapware and running Launcher Pro from day one but doubt that has anything to do with it.
My original one did that! I went down that day and got a new one...the gal at Verizon gave me alot of grief though...new one works perfect...

I would describe the Bionic's speaker as getting "uncomfortably loud". I did also use it for a ~45 min concall while away from the office and the quality was fantastic.
Coming from a N1 where the speakerphone was so garbled it sounded like everyone was in Peanuts.

Wow nice to hear another problem like it. I'll see about exchanging, thanks

I've been impressed by the sound quality.... so loud in fact that sometimes i have to turn it down. I toss it in a shirt pocket and carry on with my business while on conference calls at work. Just running stock.

Hmmm sounds like i need to exchange mine

It definitely sounds as though the speakers are blown. I concur with my xda colleague in that this phone has one of, if not the loudest external speakerphone system on the market pre or post the moto droid 1.

+ 1 on this one mine is way louder than my rooted DInc with the louder volume hack.

Speaker not very loud.

The speaker isn't loud enough to hear the person I'm talking to so I have to use the external speaker and I really don't like everyone else hearing my conversations with other people.I've heard this is a problem with the bionic.Any input would be a help.

[Q] Mic replacement

I have a HTC Vivid. When I talk into it with or without the cover, people tell me they have a hard time hearing me. Like its muffled. I talk loud and clear and the same. Is there a how to on how to replace a internal mic for it?
Do you have a case that covers the back of the phone?
There is a noise cancelling mic on the back that can cause problems if it is blocked in any way...
Try removing the case

I don't. I do have a case a bought for it but I took it off thinking that was the problem. Didn't fix it. Just sounds muffled every time I talk to some one. I can hear them excellently but they hear a muffled sound with me. No matter what I do.
What kernel/ROM?
Sent from my Vivid 4G using Tapatalk 2
I've had this problem before and it was a bad download for a custom rom. Try to redownload the rom and perform the necessary wipes that should fix it as it did mine

Are the speakers really that loud?

I keep hearing how these speakers are suppose to be so loud but mine don't really seem to get that loud, not sure if something is wrong with mine or others are just over exaggerating, I was trying to show them off to a buddy at work and played a YouTube video and we could barely hear it, so then I played some songs straight out of the internal memory and it wasn't really to much louder, I got the volume turned all way up and beats audio on, maybe there is some other eq somewhere I don't know about? My old evo 4g was almost just as loud

The one I am sending back were not that loud, but they would fade in and out to really loud to barely being able to hear. Also the crackling.
Mine are really loud with no crackling. The first time I got a notification it was startling how loud they were. Games sound amazing.
Won't be able to say for sure until I get mine Monday, but I went to the sprint store and played with the display today. I think the speakers are a touch over hyped. They are definitely louder than any phone I've had personally...but didn't seem like some people make them out to be.
Again, I'll know for sure Monday..

The speakers for me are very loud and clear. It's hard to believe they are on a phone

Mine are extremely loud, my wife and a few coworkers have been taken aback by them. Yesterday my wife texted me while she was upstairs and I was down. After her first text she tested right afterwards telling me to turn my phone down because she could hear it from up there.

For phone speakers they are very loud and clear and people are not exaggerating. You're phone may be alright, you may just have unrealistic expectations for what they can do with tiny speakers in a handset.
My Note II is about as loud but doesn't sound anywhere near as good.

Honestly mine are appropriately loud if that makes sense, well except for when turned down to lowest volume they are STILL kind of loud. It's kind of startling how loud it is, I actually jump sometimes from getting a text or email because it's just abruptly loud. It is something to get used to, but it seems you may have to return yours because it does seem there is something wrong.
A good rule of thumb for max volume on the HTC One speakers is that it should "fill the room" with sound. I can play mine max volume in my room at the other end of the house and hear it perfectly fine while in the kitchen.
I bought one of these when I got my One. I'm use to hearing things this loud so I don't expect much from phone speakers. Ring tones and notifications are crazy loud. Music isn't to crazy on my phone. I usually have my goodie bag of stuff, extra charger, external battery, this speaker, ipad, twinkles, you know the usual.

No unrooted stock
Mines is no sound also, completely stock still.
Oddly enough, mine also didn't have a sound when stock.
Was your phone on silent or vibrate before you rebooted? I swear it disables the start up sound but I could be wrong. It annoyed me so I deleted the sound file anyway.
Also, I wish the max volume could be lowered. The minimum volume is still freaking loud.

After having the phone a couple weeks or so now, and letting the epic feeling wear off. I've realized that while the speakers sound pretty good, HTC "boomsound" is a letdown.
My girlfriends s3 is just as loud but doesn't sound as good. Tonight the power went out at work at we gathered in the break room..a bunch of us starting watching YouTube videos. Granted I could barely load any with Sprints crappy network (and most definitely not hq) but when it did play, some dudes crappy LG was drowning my "boomsound" completely out.
The speakers are loud and do have a better sound than a lot of phones, but they are over rated. I like them, but I'm still slightly disappointed
Sent from my HTCONE using xda premium
I also found my speakers weren't incredible loud, the quality was amazing for being on a phone, but if i'm in an environment where people are talking, or outside and it's windy at all i have a hard time hearing the phone, but it is consistent, no fading or crackling or anything

Headphone static transfer

When using my Shure SRH440 headphones I can hear some kind of sound transfer when the back of the phone is rubbed. It gets worse when the phone is placed in my pocket where it rubs against the inside of my pocket. It seems like the headphone jack isn't properly isolated from the back or frame of the phone. Is this a defect in my phone or something that affects all Moto X phones. I have a Galaxy Note 2 and an iPhone 5 neither have this problem.

Just tried to duplicate your issue with 3 pairs of high end headphones and couldn't. It might be a defect with your phone.

No static with the following :
Hippo VB IEM
Atrio MG7 item
DT770 pro 80 ohm headphones
Custom one pro headphones
To my understanding, Shure IEM pick up noise very easily. They tend to be sensitive to the source used. Try another iem just to test.

I tested with both my Shure SE530 and E5C and had zero issue, both IEMs.
Tried to replicate with iPod ear buds, klipsch IEM's and another pair if Shure lower end headphones. All were fine must be my Shure SRH440's.

I spoke to soon. Looks like the static only becomes apparent after the screen on the phone comes on. I plugged my Shure SRH440's this morning and didn't have any static sound until I turned on the screen. I just tried my other headphones/ear buds and now the sound is apparent in all of them. The sound I hear isn't really static its more of a friction sound. I only hear it when rubbing the back of the phone. It sounds like someone walking wearing sweat pants. I can even hear it coming through my Beats Pill when I connect to it with a cable (not Bluetooth).

Glad you got it resolved! How do you like the SQ of the Moto X? I found it better then most Android phones, but slightly below iphone 5 in volume and bass quantity
I have no complaints. I have an iPhone 5 and traded in my Note 2 for this Moto X. The Moto X seems pretty good once you flatten out the EQ.
