When using my Shure SRH440 headphones I can hear some kind of sound transfer when the back of the phone is rubbed. It gets worse when the phone is placed in my pocket where it rubs against the inside of my pocket. It seems like the headphone jack isn't properly isolated from the back or frame of the phone. Is this a defect in my phone or something that affects all Moto X phones. I have a Galaxy Note 2 and an iPhone 5 neither have this problem.

Just tried to duplicate your issue with 3 pairs of high end headphones and couldn't. It might be a defect with your phone.

No static with the following :
Hippo VB IEM
Atrio MG7 item
DT770 pro 80 ohm headphones
Custom one pro headphones
To my understanding, Shure IEM pick up noise very easily. They tend to be sensitive to the source used. Try another iem just to test.

I tested with both my Shure SE530 and E5C and had zero issue, both IEMs.
Tried to replicate with iPod ear buds, klipsch IEM's and another pair if Shure lower end headphones. All were fine must be my Shure SRH440's.

I spoke to soon. Looks like the static only becomes apparent after the screen on the phone comes on. I plugged my Shure SRH440's this morning and didn't have any static sound until I turned on the screen. I just tried my other headphones/ear buds and now the sound is apparent in all of them. The sound I hear isn't really static its more of a friction sound. I only hear it when rubbing the back of the phone. It sounds like someone walking wearing sweat pants. I can even hear it coming through my Beats Pill when I connect to it with a cable (not Bluetooth).

Odd. I only hear static for 3 sec when I plug in the headphones then it goes away

Went to AT&T today and replaced my phone now the noise is gone.

Glad you got it resolved! How do you like the SQ of the Moto X? I found it better then most Android phones, but slightly below iphone 5 in volume and bass quantity
I have no complaints. I have an iPhone 5 and traded in my Note 2 for this Moto X. The Moto X seems pretty good once you flatten out the EQ.

Sorry for bring up this topic again, but I'm just wondering about the earpiece.
I just had my 212k replaced with a 304k, and it crackles the exactly the same as the old one. Are there really any crackle free nexuses? (it doesn;t really bother me, I'm just wondering if they're all like this).
Some are.
Mine has the crackle has well.

Mine doesn't as far as I can tell. Perhaps your ears need to be really sensitive or something but I definitely don't notice any sort of hissing noise

Actually it is literally some type of sound frequency and it kind of hisses in a way and crackles in a electronic type of way, basically just put your ear to it and you may get some sound.

No crackling here, but it really annoys me that I feel the back of the device vibrate when the other side is speaking through the earpiece. it reminds me of some cheap Nokia phones for old guys.
Mine also crackles. It is very quiet, bit can be heard when I put the speaker near to my ear

Mine crackles slightyl on calls but most of all when shooting video. I get really loud crackles for about 4 seconds at the start.
My launch N4 does slightly...

What is a headset blocker and why does your music player change songs when it hears noise?

When i plug in headphones, insted of just the headphone icon at top it shows the headset icon with microphone. By doin that i think it enables voice commands therefor when it hears a noise it changes songs. Headset blocker blocks it from going into headset mode

I know there is an option in Google Now to listen for bluetooth mic, plug your headset in and see if it gives an option for that mic.

I have the same exact problem. Wizdroid doesn't work. I can use the HTC headphones or a pair of BOSE headphones (with microphone) that I have. Regardless, if it hears any kind of external noise, it'll start changing songs, or stopping music or dialing phone numbers. It's really annoying. I can't even put it in my pocket and walk around, it'll start dialing phone numbers. I have to keep it steady and not move the wire around in order for them to work properly.

I think I'm just going to switch mine out since it's still under warranty. I have a lot of other problems with the phone too (camera tint, starting to feel some lag, my boomsound isn't as loud as other htc one's, etc.)
Does anyone know if Sprint stores do warranty exchanges? I really don't want to send my phone in to HTC and wait for them to send it back to me.

From past experience, unless you have the insurance you will need to send it in if its past the first 14 days. I had a problem with the camera on my E4G and the would not range it even thought it was under warranty.

They're headphones. They will plug in. The only thing that would cause them to not work would be a case that obstructs the fitment of the jack to the port. I've plugged in many different head phones from cheap $2 sets to PowerBeats by Dre as well as Studio by Dre.

I understand that they have the required 8th inch adapter but I was just making sure because some reviewers of these headphones had problems with certain devices. Thanks again

Well I've never used them, but as long as it has 3.5mm connection or adapter it should work.

1) I moved this thread to the Q&A forum.
2) I've used the AT-M50s on every phone I've had and they work fine except the TPU case on some pushes out the headphone jack sometimes. So I take a razor and make the headphones hole a bit bigger on my case. Other than that you should have no issues.
These are still my favorite headphones, way better than any of the Beats and even the Bose in this price range. If they were a big smaller I would wear them at the gym, but for at home listening these headphones rule the world.

Oh thanks. Quick question, I've heard the burn in time for these headphones is super long. Do they still sound good out of the box or is it alright and then much better after use?

They sound really good out of the box.
The burn in time isn't incredibly long, I put some decent hours on mine and they just get better and better, but out of the box I found the sound quality to still be superior to any other cans in that class.
I've notice some crackling sound kinda like static in my ath m50x while listening to music . it has to be the the phone because I've tried the PC and its sounds clean and my nexus 7 sounds good as well. Its only when the track gets loud . don't know if I need a external amp or what . any help would be appreciated

No crackling here with my studio quality sennheisers. Using Liquid rom with kernel tweaks for increased mic and headset gains as well. I've tried fiddling with the volume (up down up down up down) while having it maxed out and it sounds perfectly clear. Have also tried skipping forward in the song/skipping songs with volume maxed and couldn't replicate whatever issues you're having...don't know if that's good news or bad to you but there it is^^
I've heard distortion (using my M8) in songs that have been mastered really loud. I don't hear it on my MacBook pro as much. I wonder if the m8 gain structure could be setup better for clearer audience.
One album that I notice it a lot on is Beck's new album, mainly songs in the middle or the record. Ripped mp3 via iTunes at 256

M8 crackling solution
So I rooted my M8 to the GPE and the crackling is gone. Also, now my M8 works 100% better. There are so many things that function and look so much better. Basically I am replying to rant about how awful companies and carriers make android function when they modify the OS. Google may get paid by allowing hardware and carriers to modify their OS, but they are going to lose customers in the end due to this terrible customer experience. Customers who don't buy a nexus or google play edition or can't root their device are out of luck and get an inferior device with a poor usability.
I'm having a problem getting true stereo using my Aux output to my CD player. One of the channels is either very muted, or its playing mono through both speakers, I can't tell, but it's not right. Bluetooth plays fine. I've had this problem before with my Rezound, but when I rebooted it the problem would go away, I've rebooted my X with no such luck. Anyone else have this problem or know how to correct it? Thanks.

Sounds like it could be a bad connection to the cable. Have your tried a different cable our tried cleaning out the jacks on either end?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
I found the problem, turns out my right speaker was blown. The reason the Bluetooth seemed to work was because the Bluetooth device I use is a cheap Chinese model, and the channels are wired backwards, so the guitar parts I thought weren't playing would play through the left speaker. Murphys law I guess. Thanks for the help though.
