Rom with best battery life and speed? - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi I was wondering, which rom has the best battery life and is nice and smooth. Not really looking for anything with a bunch of extras, maybe just stock look, that 14 toggle thing if any rom has those, nice battery life, and one that is nice and smooth and not too glitchy. Not really speed, more smoothness. Thanks.

My recommendation...
[ROM] [23.01] Chrack´s XXLA4 - FM2.0 Kernel - Multi CSC [Full 546MB / Small 337MB]
with the following kernel...
[Kernel][01/21/12][Samsung Galaxy Note][AbyssNote][v3.3]

Full or small?

I don't know what's wrong with my device, however, unlike other ROMs, Cassie's XtraLite ROM does not give me a battery overheat problem. I am using it with the latest SpeedMod kernel from hardcore (same reason, this kernel does not give me overheat problem on my device).
Cassie's XtraLite ROM does not have all the eye candy, but I prefer function over fashion. So far I'm happy with the performance and the battery life.

What do u guys think about rocketrom v19 with abyss kernal 3.2? Thats what i am running right now...only picked it cuz it has the most replies/views in the forums...should i switch?

If you like it and everything is running well & smoothly, then you don't need to switch
As for me, I stop flashing around and start enjoying my Note I settled with Cassie's XtraLight ROM and speedmod kernel.

I would install the full one and then delete unneeded apps later on.

Only had mine a few days but currently trying out this one...

Feels fast and smooth. Battery life seems good. And its pretty configuable (as much or as little bloatware as you like).

rocket rom 19.1v +abbysnote kernel v3.3= smooth,battery friendly, best perfomance

Probably. Didn't work out well for me. And forum is kind of an "in crowd" who ignore posts about problems.

Im on stock Note. KKA. 5hours of web browsing. Is it normal?
That gunstrike game was yesterday before this 5h cycle. Screen on low brightness, everything else is on. (wifi,gps)

I use rocketrom 19.1 with speed kernel. Been a few days since I've used it and I've been getting roughly 14-18 hours with moderate to high usage everything turned on bluetooth,gps,wifi, and medium brightness. If you have already invested in juice defender ultimate and battery saver pro you can squeeze even more out of your battery. I have both installed and I am getting 50+ hours web browsing, streaming music, and playing games like order of chaos. I'm a battery nut and pretty OCD about it lol

I have tried all the roms for the note but i keep coming back to stock XXLA4.
For me that works still the best and have the best battery life. All the other roms are nice and look great and have lots of other stuff but the all have small problems. But it is nice to test them and see for your self what you like the most.

yep stock is better wait for CM9 casue CM is the best

[Q] ; Advise for buy a Notes.

Hello
I am currently using a galaxy s and a xperia pro.. Now I am thinking about selling these and buy a galaxy notes instead.
Is it a good idea? Is Notes a stable phone and not full with bugs?
I am hoping it would be an upgrade for me or is the difference not so big?
Regards

I would say that it will probably be a huge difference (pun intended) if you decide to get the Note. I would recommend that you go to a store with a live demo unit and try the size out, it is not for everyone. But I would say the Note is a stable phone.
I gave my SGS up for the note, and i love it..

from my experience, its an amazing phone. best one i ever had so far.
people say its huge and how can I carry it - but frankly it no problem at all. in the begining i was using the bluetooth but not any more.
the only thing i am not happy about is battery life - for now i keep the 3g/wirelss turned off to prolong the battery life. I havent had time to try different roms yet but I am hoping to get on one of the custom rom soon and believe this will improve the bat life also.
oh by the way the stock rom is very stable. i havent had any issue so far with anything.

pretty much OT here, but: You should think about getting a custom ROM. I´m on Rocket V.22 and my phone lasts more than 2 days with wifi ON and moderate usage. Kind of a miracle^^
yeah am in middle of rocket or darky; have to try them both to decided which 1 to stick to. have you tried darky ? lots of good reviews abt it too.
if the battery last for 2 days on moderate use then it sure is miracle .
i will try to flash the rom this Friday and see how it goes.
I lost my SGS and got the Notes. You will soon get used to the big screen and everything else seems so small after that. I was also having stable CM9 from teamhacksung on SGS. That's the only two draw back I can think of.

But anyway, I have tried most of them ( All of them actually, build after build ) and so far, they're all in heavy development stages; improvement is coming in the near future. So I'm still on GB - Thanks for all of those working on ICS for SGS i-9000.
Tried ICS CM9, Slim ICS 2.6 and Onecosmic ICS (TEAM ICSSGS) and Im still on GB as in ALL of them messaging APP gets FC when reciving an pic via MMS (im on O2 UK). But i do like Slim ICS 2.6. Small, fast, stable.

Stock ICS ROM for I9000?
Anyhow I am using Onecosmic's ICS 4.0.3 port since 3.1 and for me it works fine.
I am using for:
* Playing videos from network shares
* Doing occasional wifi/3G internet browsing
* reading/writing e-mail
* usual phone stuff (SMS, calls)
* taking pictures
what I don't use:
* music play
* video recording
* MMS
* GPS
* Bluetooth
* FM Radio
For me battery life is reasonable (3G is turned OFF constantly, I only enable
it when I need it, Bluetooth, GPS always OFF, Wifi is always ON (sleep policy
is OFF when screen is off)), meaning I can make it ~2 days with the usage
I mentioned. if I switch 3G on my battery drains within less than a day.
The stuff obviously lags in sometimes (as the I9000 has not enough RAM),
when the OS swaps out processes.
But anyhow I am satisfied with the ROM, it perfectly suits my needs.
Really?? u guys replying to this.....what the heck. Lock this pls.
Why is this even a debate? Clearly SuperAwesome Perfect Plus ROM v90001 ICS (Metropolitan Edition) with UltraEnhancements is the best ROM for everyone.
Dark knight 4.0.4 the best so far
wrong section but good thread!!!
I was using CM9 build by build but finally I came back on GB because of android os,battery consuption but wait for the ICS roms with perfect function
Wow? How this come true?

My workaround for fc mms on slim is to have smart gallery+ installed and download the attachment. Then I just look at it in smart gallery. for some reason the loeel doesn't work for me. Slim is my favourite too by the way.
Wrong thread indeed.
But AOKP and CNA are pretty good
Tired ICSSGS, MyUI, and CNA, CNa is very smooth and lagfree but drain a little bit more battery then ICSSGS in my opinion.
I think most of us want to know the answer but I don't think it will come out. I am using Kang's rom for my I9000. I feel comfortable and satisfy. Just for your reference.

SpeedMod: K3-7 is working great for me on Stock 4.0.3 LQ2... I've not tested K3-10 yet as I had Wi-Fi issues on K3-9.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1673072
Hi CJSlim79,
Thanks for the repy. I sent you a PM but anyway... I would really appreciate someone can give me the direct link to download that version..
I was able to look for a link on that (I'm not sure if this is the right one though: http://touristinparadise.blogspot.com/2012/01/samsung-galaxy-note-download-speedmod.html but moving down on that link, I noticed that k3-7 is for GINGERBREAD ROMS already and not for ICS...
I'm kinda bit leery to download and install this k3-7 as it also indicated on that link that its for the 'S2' already?
If I download and install this kernel (k3.7) will this work still on my current 4.0.4 DXLRG ROM?
Thanks and much appreciated.
yup, I think the battery is lasting longer
Both Speedmod and notecore kernels are good for battery

thanks dude... in comparing speedmod and chainfire's LRG kernel... how's the battery on that said kernel?
on speedmod k3-9, I get a 1% drop approximately around 1 hr and 30 mins, How about CF-Root's batt life as a normal daily driver? what's the approximate battery life on it?

I am using CriskeloROM V9.1 now with CF-LRG kernel, also running many social apps at the back like facebook, whatsapp, wechat, mitalk, LINE, Email, Maps. I have many phone calls, and browing the web in a day. The drain is 7-8% per hour on average daily use. And 2% per hour drain on idle with those apps running at the back. I would think it is more less if I uninstall those social apps.

hmm, not bad. I would agree, background data sync usually eats a lot of juices as opposed to running them on demand only. I have exchange, aol and ym running as well, but the drain on my end still pegs at 1% every hour and a half. Not too shabby I guess.
Anyway, I appreciate your inputs bud. Thank you for sharing some infos on the kernel.
Have a wonderful night/day ahead.
I am using spedmod k3 10 and the result is excellent. Have also disabled auto sync
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
As long as it push then battery usage of sync is lowest, so be carefull when setting it to manual as that can end up beingbmore battery intensive as it constantly wakes uo your phone from deepsleep.
Gmail should be automatically on push, others like exchange you have to check when configuring or changebto push if your exchange supports it

nothing like the battery in GB - rock solid, but you want to compare with other ics kernels i think)

Besides the ROM and kernel which affect the battery, the battery life in a day will be depending on which apps you have installed on your device, and how is your usage on the device.

Nop! haven't checked it yet.
last for 5 hours is not acceptable. all smartphone should last a day at least.
5 hours of screen on time is great.
battery depends on how u use your phone mate. it doesnt matter what rom u use.. how u use it affects the battery the most
display which is amoled consume lots of power. lower brighness prolong the battery life.
data service use lots of battery. wifi is a lot less.. use wifi when available..
standby of note is very very good especially when the phone goes to sleep. which is the main reason .. install CPU Spy from the market and check the deep sleep
flashed "[ROM] [JB 4.1.2] [PA | AOKP | CM] ◄ PACMan► all - in - one (v17)"
and the battery is working great so far

Most leaked LS7 JB Roms are similar, the only difference is applications devs put in them. I usually check which applications use the battery mostly. I would recomend uninstall some system applications those stay resident in the memory they also play some role on battery consumption as well. We all have different phone usage habbits and it is impossible to make accurate commend on how long our batteries last. Note II has incredible battery life bacuse of the bigger battery it has and 2 GB memory. İnstalling JB on Note 1 is actually forcing this machine for heavier load. If you really like to use Samsung apps TW rom is must but AOKP roms are not bad withous TW features. I know many people are happy with them, however their experince with battery is not much better than TW users at all.
Again, battery issue has lots of aspects and one should watch his own experience. Also there is a good tread about battery on this forum. Please check I found it very informative.
Regards to all

[Q] Good battery ROM

Hello people,
first of all I want to say that I know there are more questions like this one, but I couldn't find an up-to date one.
I'd prefer an ICS or later rom since.. well the GB roms are quite outdated, but if you know a rom which offers a great battery life don't hesitate to tell about it.
I'm corrently using CM10 unofficial from Pengus77:

Note: Don't judge the battery too fast. Wait till it have done a few cycle charges (meaning: plug charger in at a low battery percentage, keep it charching till its 100% - repeat few times.).

Yes, I will (although a lot of people say you should only charge to 80/90% to not overcharge your battery)
What governor are you all using btw? just normal interactive?
Update: installed the rom, all my apps, filled in my preferences/personal customisation etc. and I lost about 25%
so everything seems to go quite well with this rom.
Just one question:
what is a good alternate theme instead of the xperia one?
