Hi Guys,
I need your recommendations on what is the best battery kernel for our Note? I'm running stock Germany DXLRG.
Please post also the link on the kernel version if possible.
Thanks and I'll surely thank you also if you tell me how many days you get on that said kernel.

SpeedMod: K3-7 is working great for me on Stock 4.0.3 LQ2... I've not tested K3-10 yet as I had Wi-Fi issues on K3-9.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1673072
Hi CJSlim79,
Thanks for the repy. I sent you a PM but anyway... I would really appreciate someone can give me the direct link to download that version..
I was able to look for a link on that (I'm not sure if this is the right one though: http://touristinparadise.blogspot.com/2012/01/samsung-galaxy-note-download-speedmod.html but moving down on that link, I noticed that k3-7 is for GINGERBREAD ROMS already and not for ICS...
I'm kinda bit leery to download and install this k3-7 as it also indicated on that link that its for the 'S2' already?
If I download and install this kernel (k3.7) will this work still on my current 4.0.4 DXLRG ROM?
Thanks and much appreciated.
yup, I think the battery is lasting longer
Both Speedmod and notecore kernels are good for battery

chainfire's LRG kernel is more stable and close to Stock ROM, download link:
http://download.chainfire.eu/203/CF-Root/SGN/CF-Root-SGN_XX_DBT_LRG-v5.6-CWM5.zip
And thread to the full history of chainfire's kernel:

I am using it since this version is out, I think it was since 12 Jul 2012.
thanks dude... in comparing speedmod and chainfire's LRG kernel... how's the battery on that said kernel?
on speedmod k3-9, I get a 1% drop approximately around 1 hr and 30 mins, How about CF-Root's batt life as a normal daily driver? what's the approximate battery life on it?
TIA

I am using CriskeloROM V9.1 now with CF-LRG kernel, also running many social apps at the back like facebook, whatsapp, wechat, mitalk, LINE, Email, Maps. I have many phone calls, and browing the web in a day. The drain is 7-8% per hour on average daily use. And 2% per hour drain on idle with those apps running at the back. I would think it is more less if I uninstall those social apps.

hmm, not bad. I would agree, background data sync usually eats a lot of juices as opposed to running them on demand only. I have exchange, aol and ym running as well, but the drain on my end still pegs at 1% every hour and a half. Not too shabby I guess.
Anyway, I appreciate your inputs bud. Thank you for sharing some infos on the kernel.
Have a wonderful night/day ahead.
I am using spedmod k3 10 and the result is excellent. Have also disabled auto sync
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
As long as it push then battery usage of sync is lowest, so be carefull when setting it to manual as that can end up beingbmore battery intensive as it constantly wakes uo your phone from deepsleep.
Gmail should be automatically on push, others like exchange you have to check when configuring or changebto push if your exchange supports it

read a lot of recommendations from various posts,
battery not better than stock LRG, wasnt impressed with battery ( have sync on )
nothing like the battery in GB - rock solid, but you want to compare with other ics kernels i think)

I diconnected my phone from the charger, and it was at 100% at 830 this morning and now at 1130 it is at 56%/. This is after probably abotu 1-1.5 hours of browsing the web on my phone and configuring widgets.
I was wondering if that is normal battery drain? I have been flashing my phone quite a bit lately and it seems that the battery life is not that great. I have already recalibrated my battery as well.
Also my phone is overclocked to 1.3ghz.
You might want a second opinion but I'm going to say yes
If there is evil in this world it lurks in the hearts of man.
1130 AM? If so that is not good at all.
Not good at all, I am running Pinnacle 1.2 for 29. 5 hours since last charge and I have 29% remaining, that includes roughly 3 hours display on time and just shy of 1 hour phone calls.
Very happy with Pinnacle 1.2

If you're on Apex, try going without the overclock and switching to the DarkCore kernel. That might help your battery life a little bit.
Did the phone feel hot?
What kind of sites were you hitting? White background? Lot's of Flash?
You've got three things that I see hitting your battery hard - the data transfers, the screen and the CPU usage. Depending on how your overclock is set up, I'd guess it's causing your CPU to use at least 30% more juice.
I can get days of idle time, but only hours of heavy use out of my battery. There are certain web sites and games that seem to suck the battery dry.

Well when my phone is on standby, I find that it drains at a reasonable rate. It is just when I use my phone that it drains fairly quickly.

I've tried different settings on my phone and have not been able to get your kind of battery life.
I recently flashed MosaicVI and using the JV6 modem. After using this modem I have been getting better results but not quite as good as your.
What I'm trying to find out is there any certain setting you have your phone in, i.e. only on WiFI, Auto Display, sound, Disabling Your data when not using it? I would really love to get this kind of results. I'm sure everyone else would to.
Oh, I've also cycled my phone battery 3 times everytime I flash a different ROM. Please school me up on how to get those results.
P.S. I tried to quote you and reply but me being new to posting comments did not let me.
Go to market and download "Data switch". You will see marked improvement to your battery life.
So is that the secret? "Data switch".
All it does is turn off data usage so your cappy is not using data for all the background services (synch and such). Its what I use when I want the battery to last and don't need a data connection.
Hi I was wondering, which rom has the best battery life and is nice and smooth. Not really looking for anything with a bunch of extras, maybe just stock look, that 14 toggle thing if any rom has those, nice battery life, and one that is nice and smooth and not too glitchy. Not really speed, more smoothness. Thanks.

I don't know what's wrong with my device, however, unlike other ROMs, Cassie's XtraLite ROM does not give me a battery overheat problem. I am using it with the latest SpeedMod kernel from hardcore (same reason, this kernel does not give me overheat problem on my device).
Cassie's XtraLite ROM does not have all the eye candy, but I prefer function over fashion. So far I'm happy with the performance and the battery life.

I use rocketrom 19.1 with speed kernel. Been a few days since I've used it and I've been getting roughly 14-18 hours with moderate to high usage everything turned on bluetooth, gps, wifi, and medium brightness. If you have already invested in juice defender ultimate and battery saver pro you can squeeze even more out of your battery. I have both installed and I am getting 50+ hours web browsing, streaming music, and playing games like order of chaos. I'm a battery nut and pretty OCD about it lol

yep stock is better wait for CM9 casue CM is the best
Hello everyone
I need help with a problem I have had since a week or two.
The battery life of my phone is drastically low (check screenshot).
I bought 2 additional batteries, one genuine battery and one 3rd party battery. And they didn't help.
I am using the latest CM7 kang from temasek with the latest Etana kernel. But I have tried to downgrade to the stock LG rom, and still the same.
I haven't got any "hungry" apps running in the background because I freshly installed the latest CM7 kang for testing.
I think it was caused when I pulled out the battery when the phone froze, I was testing my new bought HDMI cable. The battery was fully charged >95% and when I pulled out and reinserted the battery I noticed it had about 6% left.
I think it has something to do with the insides of the phone.
And I hope someone can help me out here!
In the screenshots, I left the phone untouched for more than 12 hours.

Yeah I was getting the same with CM7 some weeks ago.
I was also having the battery drain in about 8 hours from full. It all appeared suddenly, with no new apps installed and good batterylife the day before. Was using stock 20q and changed rom to wiui, wich helped. Never figured out what caused it, had similar battery history as OP.

I once had this all of a sudden with the MoDaCo FR19.
Hot battery, 8h till full discharge.
Never found out what caused it, but a factory reset, FULL wipe and reflashing sorted it out for me.
Good luck solving the issue.
Thanks for the suggestions.
I tried resetting the battery stats multiple times with no effect.
And what is the "good" way to do a full wipe?
I always format the data/cache/dalvik/system partitions. Is that how you do it?
Make sure your baseband and ril match, if not sure check stickies

Nothing works!
I tried changing roms, kernels, basebands, RILs and I can't seem to fix the problem.
Does anyone have other tips?
When I bought the phone, my number 1 concern was the battery life. I easily reached a minimum of 24 hours of average usage after I spent a long time looking for battery saving techniques/tweaks.
But now, I am very disappointed!
I really hope this can be fixed!
Well, i think everybody has been through this... In my case drain was coming in 8 hours time, but with the complete wipe and the rom changing it got away, and I never really bored in looking for the thing that was causing the problem.
This morning i was very surprised to see that during the night ( 3G on ) my LG P990 consumed only 1% Battery per Hour .
End charge at 12PM ( 100%) , founf at 94% at 7AM
This, to me, is a great resoult!!!!
Thanks to Gueste 1.7 kernel with OC to 1200 and UV settings ( -25, -50, 75)

Just see that you not overclocking the CPU. Try CPU Spy from market & see how much percentage each cpu speed is working. Also use Set CPU to limit you CPU speed.
From my experience of KD + Notecore, I found there was a heavy battery drain. So I shifted to Speed Mod K3-11. You may try what suits you.

This could be a rogue app - however, have you checked your app sync schedules etc, Are you syncing widgets every 5-10 mins?
I also think that the overall Android OS encompasses the Download / Data / Android System values but I am happy to be corrected if this is not true..

Have you tried changing kernels? I saw that your on NoteCore kernel I used Notecore before and though it optimizes the performance of your phone, but it's also a battery drainer. Try to use speedmod kernel and see if there's a considerable change on your battery drain issue.
I was experimenting a lot of kernels on my phone before (as my goal was for a better battery life...) SpeedMod never fails to amaze me till now.

Besides the ROM and kernel which affect the battery, the battery life in a day will be depending on which apps you have installed on your device, and how is your usage on the device.

Nop! haven't checked it yet.
last for 5 hours is not acceptable. all smartphone should last a day at least.
5 hours of screen on time is great.
battery depends on how u use your phone mate. it doesnt matter what rom u use.. how u use it affects the battery the most
display which is amoled consume lots of power. lower brighness prolong the battery life.
data service use lots of battery. wifi is a lot less.. use wifi when available..
standby of note is very very good especially when the phone goes to sleep. which is the main reason .. install CPU Spy from the market and check the deep sleep

I'm on RR JB and the battery last for only 5hrs!
This is why I'm looking for another ROM

Most leaked LS7 JB Roms are similar, the only difference is applications devs put in them. I usually check which applications use the battery mostly. I would recomend uninstall some system applications those stay resident in the memory they also play some role on battery consumption as well. We all have different phone usage habbits and it is impossible to make accurate commend on how long our batteries last. Note II has incredible battery life bacuse of the bigger battery it has and 2 GB memory. İnstalling JB on Note 1 is actually forcing this machine for heavier load. If you really like to use Samsung apps TW rom is must but AOKP roms are not bad withous TW features. I know many people are happy with them, however their experince with battery is not much better than TW users at all.
Again, battery issue has lots of aspects and one should watch his own experience. Also there is a good tread about battery on this forum. Please check I found it very informative.
