[Q]Music phone/PMP OS - Android Themes

Is there any interest in developing an OS which runs Android apps but is simplified to make music more upfront? I'm thinking it would be for the upcoming android PMP's which are coming out (sony walkman z and cowon z2, along with samsung galaxy wifi) but could also work for any phone.
still android looking, but have details which make it more music centric (easy access to music app[devoted homescreen to it?] more "basic" in some sense)
if there's interest i can post some mockups. unfortunately i don't have the skill to code this and that is why i'm asking.

Htc Phones using the beats audio system and such stuff are made for that.
Otherwise I'd really like an music player like htc's if you have seen that before.
its smooth grey and has an coverflow like feature.

The Cowon D3 runs with Android, now the question: is it possible to port the jeteffect3 and bbe+ plugins to the new Android roms ?
Would be nice to hear my music with Jeteffect on my GNote .

I'm bumping this post because I also have this question. That said it can be taken on farther now.
The device called Z2 Plenue uses Android 2.3 GB & utilizes the updated JetEffect 5.0 and BBE. It should be noted that this is the only android based device (that I know of) that has BBE functionality since App wise BBE is currently iOS only (Sadly). Hence why I am bumping this. BBE is a fantastic EQ and since Voodoo Sound Plus doesn't work on the Yamaha Driver of the Note (if I recall what I read correctly) then this is pretty much the only way the Note could get Top Notch EQ at the moment.

Curious BlackBerry User

Hey Guys,
I'm a long time blackberry user and I've gone through at least a half dozen over the years.
I'm currently using the Blackberry Bold 9900, which I suppose is the current flagship model.
I bought the Playbook tablet long ago, unfortunately even after the '2.0 update' it's basically a paperweight and almost useless. In my frustration I bought a kindle fire, and was very impressed. There's a very active dev community, and in no time I had it rooted and was testing out different mods and kernels. Lots of fun.
This got me thinking about getting a more competent android device, the fire is good but I'd be interested to see what a serious device could do. I've been waiting forever to get a tablet with a decent digitizer/stylus and was immediately interested by the Galaxy Note (and later the Galaxy Note 10.1).
I've been seriously considering getting the Galaxy Note as a second phone and giving it a go. However, I still don't understand why I would want or need such a large and powerful device.
Typing on a touchscreen is pretty terrible. Yeah everyone says you get used to it, but I could bang out 50wpm in the dark with my hands behind my back on my blackberry.
I had the iPhone 3GS and I hated it so much I threw it out of the window on the highway. What a nightmare.
Secondly, I only ever use my bb to: email, bbm, twitter, and occasionally make calls.
So I suppose my question is.. Other than the fun that is hacking up the phone/tablet and customizing it. What's the point? Why does one need a device like this? What do you do with it to justify having it? What apps do you need/use on a daily basis that need two cores and a HD screen?
As a consumer, I want one. But as a rational person I don't know what I would use it for. I only use my kindle fire to play crappy time killer games on the treadmill. What's the point?
Thanks for your time.
Android has the ability to customize everything to such an extent that basic, you made the phone. That's what everyone loves about it. You can the look, feel, and functionality all to your liking.
Also, you have the option of the three main android version which are: Stock (can be seen on the galaxy nexus) HTC Sense (can be seen on all HTC phones) and MIUI (a custom rom that extends the customization ability even further with has themes for EVERY aspect e.x. The dialer, messaging app, notification bar, lock screen, etc)
You should go your local bestbuy and play with the phones. Android is a great experience.
In reference to your apps that you like, there are many email and twitter apps, all with different levels of functionality, and being that you're social, you'll enjoy widgets that allow you to send a tweet quickly, right from your home screen. When you finally leave BBM, you'll realize that it's not so important. There is an app called Talk, it's just like BBM, only for android. Texting is also just as good.
I hope I helped in your decision and enlightened your image of Android.
Good luck!
I asked myself these very same questions before purchasing a true smartphone, and sadly it turns out to be a life eater. You can do almost anything on the phone. I use mine mainly for music, news reading, and playing games. But everyone always finds different things useful in their phone. I can almost guarantee you won't regret getting the Note. That is if you can deal with that massively beautiful screen.
Thank you kindly for the responses KayxGee1 and JustinUhhh.
I think I will take the leap, and try it out for at least one month.
I went from BB OS to Android and could not be happier. Give it a try, the positives will likely outweigh any negatives for you.
It all depends on what you do. If you want to be able to play high end games, be able to have the latest software for a good while and be able to keep up with the rest for another year then you should get the note. If none of the above matter then any simple android device should do.
$1 gets you a reply
Overall Android just gives you an experience that is designed for you, couldn't be happier with it.
Honestly I see Blackberrys at the end of the smart phone train. I love Android cause it is sleek and fun to use!
Android can be a portable office, a portable arcade, or a portable jukebox. For geeks the customizability is an attraction in itself. If you travel a lot you really can't beat it as a mobile commumication center. It's really whatever you make of it.
Made the jump, and one week later.. It's going great! The xda community is fantastic, and the hardware is unreal. Cheers guys!

Miui isn't a main Android version. But touchwiz on Samsung phones and motoblur on Motorola phones is.
- this sig is just so I don't have to write 10char when on my phone -
Here we have:
- MotoBlur
- Sense
- Xperia
- LG UI
- TouchWiz
- Tap n' Tap UI
- Google Nexus AOSP Devices (Android)
That's all I remember now

Cubase or Fruity Loops in android?

Hello,
Is there any application of gender Cubase or Fruity Loops for android?
greetings
Too complicated dude. Nearly impossible.
You have some simple apps you can play with, they are very basic compared to a pc app.
Search the market for loop sequencers, drum machines and so..
Also, they work better with tablets because of the screen size.

I know there's PocketBand, but I can imagine that you want to - just like me - wait for the official FL Studio Android App.

Wooaaahhh can't wait to have it working on my Xperia U
no
Nope, and it's difficult to implement --I'd say impossible-- on any currently shipping Android device except for --maybe-- the Nexus 7.
Android's audio latency is MONSTROUS in all versions up to and including 4.0.x, and even with the (admittedly massive) improvements in 4.1 it's still suboptimal for serious audio work. Apple has proved that some kind of audio work is possible on mobile hardware, as there is a simplified version of their home recording software GarageBand, that runs on iOS; but still, not even the desktop version of GarageBand is comparable in features to Cubase or FL Studio.
Regarding the X8 -- even if we got a stable 4.1 ROM for our X8, and someone developed such software, our phone wouldn't have enough muscle to run it: if I was the developer, seeing that I'd be forced to require 4.1 because of the latency issues, I'd surely optimize the thing for gigahertz-range multicore processors. And as someone said before, it would be unusable in a 3" display (going back to GarageBand's example -- the iOS version only runs on the iPad)
Caustic.
fruity loops release?
Is there an official release date for fruity loops on android? my nexus 7 is itch into start making tracks...

[Q] Samsung Multiwindow?

With all due respect to the developers and sorry for my bad english... I love my Xperia Z and am very happy with it.Mi next purchase will be the Xperia Z1 but both are missing something very important in my opinion when compared to Samsung. Is there a way to port the Samsung Multiwindow? Is possible to develope an application that works as well as this? I know there are some applications in the Play Store but they are far from the functionality offered by Samsung.

its not possible as it requires touchwiz framework.
there is one called onskreen cornerstone, but the development seems to be dead. and no one ported it to AOSP.

Xposed Framework mod
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2048668
This mod looks like the sony small apps, but than just regular apps. Not ideal, but comes close
You do need to install xposed framework first though.
Xmultiwindow is also an option these days. Still beta so don't expect it to work perfectly. For example you can only open two pages at once when you're not on your launcher bit already in an app.

I'll answer what I can...
1. better battery life, there are a few threads for battery in the General section. but for me I just turn on the Stamina Mode and I only allow 3-4 apps to use connection while the screen is off. 3-4 hours of standby my z1 only decreased by 2%. screen time not much you can do to increase this other than lower the brightness.
2. Graphics is the best an android phone can get for now.
3. you can install themes, there are almost infinite options. same for all android phones. there are 6-7 built in themes though, the rest you can customize by downloading and installing stuff from google play.
4. you can install better codec by installing Mods, but this for advanced users. I would not recommend for new android users.
5. headphones I use Audio Technica ATH-SJ11... good light weight headphones I can wear without my ears tiring. great sound for the price.
whats the basic to rooting. i have read alot and alot on the forum.
I just want to root and if a new update comes from sony i want to be able to upgrade straight away.
Im moving from a galaxy s3 and back in the day sony ericsson were easy to mess around with (make phone louder, region free firmwares and lot).
what different nowadays with sony or is it same. is there crap like knox being implemented.

there are several guides in the general section and some in the dev section on how to root and get onto the latest firmware.
Please read them.
