CM7 Nightly Contacts Issue - LG Thrill 4G

I've tried importing contacts from SIM
I don't know what the **** happened, I just loaded CM7 Nightly #21.
The issue I'm having is that at first I had a SIM card full of 211 contacts. It stayed on Doomed Froyo, I swap over to try my first CM7 ROM and got to make an important phone call, what do ya know. There's no contacts.
Any solutions?

Chill. It was 2am in the morning.
If contacts weren't imported, you might have never even had them on the sim card.

You're not going to get any help with an attitude like that.
Now, are you even sure the contacts were on the sim card?

I'm just finished with most peoples attitude in the Thrill 4G forums, and most people on the Thrill forums. I'm here to learn and help.
Onto our topic, yes I've has 211 Contacts on the SIM card.
I've had the card for 3-years now.

Just to verifiy.
Do Steps 1 & 2 OR Step 3
1. Did you make a NANDROID backup of the Stock LG ROM?
If so, then make a NANDROID of your current ROM and restore to LG's ROM.
If not, then you'll need to make a NANDROID of your current ROM and use the method to get back to stock HERE
2. Check to make sure that the contacts are still on the SIM CARD.
If so, then there is a problem with Cyanogen and importing contacts. Backup your contacts to your GMAIL account and then sync with Cyanogen once restored.
If not, your data partition on the SIM CARD is corrupted.
OR
3. Use the SIM CARD in a different phone and see if contacts show up.
If so, then there is a problem with Cyanogen and importing contacts. Backup your contacts to your GMAIL account and then sync with Cyanogen once restored.
If not, your data partition on the SIM CARD is corrupted.

No need to take out SIM. I flashed over a few dozen times so far and never removed neither the SIM nor the external SD.
The problem comes if you get a call or text before the phone is ready on first boot of a fresh flash. At least that is my understanding.

If u get a call or text, it will notice the phone is not on network n should be redirected to vmail. I had it happen once when I was reflashing and had a vmail when I booted up my ROM for the first time.
Thank, now I will flash with sim without worry.

2.3.3 vs. 2.3.4

So witch is better, Gingerbread 2.3.3 or 2.3.4?
I think 2.3.4 is buggy when you restore your old apps
I guess 2.3.3 is better for now, as 2.3.4 still has many bugs but its up to you weather you want to run it or not.

2.3.4 No BD
As soon as you assign your gmail account to the phone it will import your synced contacts. If you exported to an sd card just import from sd card.

The best kernel and/or modem is the one that best meets your needs. Look at the specs of all of them and pick the one for you.

[Q] Upgraded to Gingervolt 1.3 now not Facebook sync

I searched within the xda threads and on google for an answer and I can't find any related threads. I flashed to Gingervolt 1.3 and it's all good! I have a gmail account and now the phone is defaulted to sync with that gmail account. I cannot add Facebook. When I press the "Add Account" button, I have a choice of Microsoft Exchange and Facebook (there is no "other" account option). When I press Facebook, it does not add it to the list of accounts to sync.
Thanks in advance.

Uninstall Facebook and reinstall? Okay, I will try that. I was glad that after I flashed GV, it kept all my settings and apps. As you can see I'm VERY new to this.

It was stock Gingerbread 2.3.4 and already rooted for about 2 weeks. I have My Backup Pro, Root Explorer, SuperOneClick, LGRevoAllinOnePkg installed. I wiped data and loaded GV from the SD card following the instructions on the GV thread.
Anyways, uninstalling FB and reinstalling fixed the probelm. Thanks and Happy Holidays!

Can't Upgrade GingerVolt 1.3 to 2.0
Hi,
All loving the XDA spirit.
First post so please be gentle.
LG Revolution Rooted running GingerVolt 1.3 directly form stock with no probs
but have been unable to upgrade to 2.0.
Downloaded the file, booted into Custom recovery CWM I believe and the file DID
upgrade the Kernel to 2.6.25.7-BlitzKrieg+ but still shows GingerVolt 1.3.
I have tried several methods,Clearing Cache, Straight, copying from OTA, moving
a file with USB, to EXT SD Root directory, to internal SD Root directory.
Phone always comes back to the same version of GingerVolt with upgraded
Kernel.
Love to give mtmichaelson a beer but kind of frustrated ATM.

It says 1.3 unless you go in and changd it. So if you did everything right you should be on 2.0. So its all good

Phone reboots on installation of ANY app!!

I know it sounds weird. But, It is really happening with me. I tried to google but didn't find proper solution. Neither I'm expecting here. But, Any suggestions though?
PS: I already DID restore my nandroid backup.. But, Its the UOT kitchen what I'm doubting. Does anyone know how to see a log before my phone rebooted? It might help.
I experienced this too back then in CM7.2. Do you use link2sd or similar app? If so, try removing them and clean your init.d folder. And then clear dalvik cache.

I am using CM7.2 already! and yes I have created sd-ext of 1GB and moved all apps via S2E.
But, the problem with this is, clearing my dalvik-cache from CWM Recovery clears my whole sd-ext partition!
I too faced this problem when i had.over 120 apps and was using s2e...i suugest u switch to link2sd ...

Then try to reinstall everything.. Backup with Titanium, clean S2E and scripts (or reflash ROM), restore fron Titanium, then apply S2E again.

I have roughly 130 apps installed currently. I used Jusada's ICS Final before my current ROM - CM7.2 by FrozenAce Team. The reason I switch to this ROM is, I had uncertain bootloops in previous ROM. It was really unusual experience for me. I put the phone in my pocket and when I get it out, its in bootloop. Anyway, I'm thinking to switch on "Ace of Spades V2- performance".
What my questions are:
1) Are you using Link2SD? Is it really as effective as S2E?
2) When I run batch to restore all user apps + data from SDcard, Is it really fast in moving apps and creating soft links?

Well, to be honest that would be pointless. I have already restored Nandroid backup which doesn't have this problem. But what I'm concern about is, I restored it 3rd time in last 4 days cause of this problem. Now, sometimes I even hesitate while installing a new app.
By the way, I'm seriously doubting on S2E now. I suspect Dragonoid is right. Does anyone using S2E have similar problem?
I also face this problem sometimes... dont know why!!
Sent from my GT-S5830 using CyanogenMod 7.2 by FAT
Yes, I had this problem with S2E.
I never get Link2SD to work, but it's actually great if you can get it to work, because you can select which app should go to SD and which app in /data. Some app like launcher, social, and instant messaging apps usually performs better in internal memory

This problem started when I partitioned my sd card 8gb class2
So phone started lagging a lot
And reboots on app install and uninstall... I had used s2e
Only solution I came across is buy
A faster SD card or don't partition it
Sent from my GT-S5830 using xda premium
This problem is pretty common,
The way i did it:
If you partitioned using desktop remove the partition format the SD so its back to factory Then insert it into the phone so the phone recognizes it again, then after that partition the SD card again.
If you did it through CWM, Then Format the EXT and the sd card, but make sure you have backed it up first.
Hope this helped.
