with the upcoming announced samsung devices,sony,etc..
I want to know if you unlock the bootloader and for some reason want to return the phone within your first month with At&t and you put it back to stock and return it? Also if you keep it and later on want to exchange it with at&t's warranty dept. will they check this?
I'm actually tried this device when it first came out and had a bad experience with my browser not connecting to the internet? The store or at&t cs did not know why but they're guess was that the lte network was still settling in etc...I returned it for this reason. Has it improved? Did they fix and issues with the lte/4g network? I have always been an htc fan primarily because of the sense ui,dev support, and led notifications.
One more question, I'm almost tempted in buying the white one. How dirty will it get as far as marks or is it easy to wipe clean? Of course I would have a case over it but the soft button area is what Im concerned with.
I have a white HTC and I've had it for a month now everything is still nice and clean. I personally love this phone I'm in California and the LTE is amazing. Also there is a new data package which gives you 3g of data. I think this is a great phone ill post a couple pics of the battery/speed test/ quadrant for you to have a look. I came from being a heavy Samsung user and after I switched to HTC I fell for this product .

From your pics thats pretty impressive, I'd definitely would be satisfied with those results or close. Im on an "unlimited" data plan so they should be able to switch it no problems.
I was worried about white getting real dirty but it looks nice and crisp. Better than the black or copper colored one.
Yea I have a white phone with a black case and I'm building a black and white vivid theme to go along with it. The phone is amazing, I sell cell phones for a living and they do have an LTE unlimited datat but you get a throttle back atleast that's what my att rep said. I'll ask her today when I go to work though.

How about my question on unlocking the bootloader and a potential return or exchange with at&t's warranty? After I root it, can I put it back to stock and return or exchange with no problem. Im not referring to htc's warranty as I've never used it anyway.

These questions you have, have been answered already. Read this:
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1416836
That is the Superguide, detailing all the info you need to unlock and relock the bootloader. In short, yes, you can return it to factory, out-of-the-box, status. However, HTC keeps a record of every device that gets its bootloader unlocked via htcdev.com. Warranty claim through HTC would be out of the question as you void your 1 year warranty the second you sign up with htcdev.com to unlock your bootloader. Warranty in the first 30 days, through AT&T, is still possible by relocking the bootloader before sending it in. After 30 days, your mobile insurance, if you pay for it, will kick in and then you'll be responsible for the deductable. That is price paid until we can achieve root with s-off instead of voiding our HTC 1 year warranty to get our bootloader unlocked and root the badboy by signing up with htcdev.com. But yes, you should have no problems with AT&T if you relock the bootloader before sending it in.

I went from the Inspire to the Motorola Atrix2 & was very disapointed with the phone (had a lot of bugs & motorola excluded it from it's ICS update list) Thankfully I took it back & got the Samsung Galaxy S2 & it's sweet but it left me wanting more I had another one of my lines come up for renewal last week & I got the Vivid & I'm in love. The screen on this phone is out of this world awesome. It's like the Inspire but on steroids. Everything runs faster, smoother, better & plus it's on LTE. It is also very easy to root & you can unlock the bootloader very easly using software from HTC's website. If you shop around like I did I got Best Buy to price match Fry's, they had it for $79.99 with a 2 year contract.
There is always going to be something better around the corner. I have three skyrocket (supposedly better) my wife has vivid, I find my self doubting my decision of the skyrocket sometimes. I love sense and her screen is sooooo much more pretty than mine, even though super amoled + is better tech.
It seems like a great phone. She loves it. I'm glad both our phones have toggles in the notifications. It used to be a custom mod on every other Android I've ever had.

Hey guys, quick two questions-
Is there a way to manually unlock the S2 Skyrocket? I have seen websites selling the code but no method yet to manually unlock it. Pls help!
Is unlocking the bootloader same as sim or network unlock? or Does bootloader unlock lead to sim or network unlock?

unlocking the bootloader does not unlock the SIM or network lock, they are different things, and no the bootloader unlock does not lead to sim or network unlock, for that you need to pay someone, or have the fairly costly network unlocking tools.

I just received my XT883 (Chinese version) of the Droid 3 from an ebay seller in Hong Kong.
I am in USA.
I popped my T-Mobile USA sim card in but didn't get any network.
When I try to make a call, the phone dials and gives me a message welcome to Verizon, and they
will direct me to an operator to take a credit card for the phone charges.
Also weird is that there are Verizon logos on the front and back of this phone.
I didn't think they should be there since Verizon isn't in China.
When I remove the battery, the sticker inside says XT883.
The software details are as follows:
System version 5.6.890.XT862 Verizon.en.US
Android version 2.3.4
Baseband N_03.18.29P
Kernel version 2.6.35.7-g790a33c
[email protected] #1
build number 5.5.1_84_D3G-55
Besides for all this, the phone seems to be loaded with Verizon bloatware.
I can use wifi, but not gprs.
To make matters more confusing, there was a T-mobile outage in my area that they said could last
up to 72 hours, and they were having all kinds of network and computer issues today. There is a small chance that
this might account for my inability to get phone signal. Bad timing.
What do you guys make of this?
Did they flash the phone with the wrong rom?
If it has Verizon logos on it and the system version has XT862 in it, its a regular US Droid 3. The XT862 can be unlocked for Tmobile but won't work without modification. I assume you knew that already and thats why you wanted to get a XT883.

Actually I had no idea it was a Verizon branded phone. The photo in the ebay ad and the ad itself didn't show or mention Verizon.
I assumed this was an XT883 Rom and radio that was fully unlocked for GSM and internet here in the USA. That's what the ad said.
Besides, this came from China, and the system sticker under the battery says it is an XT883. So how could it be a US 862?
Anyway, I am new to Android so can you give me some advise on how I can fix this-the easiest way?
Based on the details I listed, was it flashed wrong?
Thanks for your help.
Which keyboard does yours have?
This is the US Droid 3 XT862. Notice the orange symbol keys and the microphone key. Also notice the verizon logo, its possible the battery cover could have been swapped on yours, but the verizon logo on the front would only appear on a US model.

This is the XT883, notice the blue lettering on the symbols and the character key where the microphone is on the XT862. Also notice the lack of Verizon logo.
If you were sold an XT862 when the listing shows a XT883 in the title and images then I would contact the seller.

I'd say you definitely have the XT862, both software and hardware confirm it. As far as the sticker it may have been placed there by the seller? Ive never done it since Im on Verizon but there is a way to unlock the XT862 for At&t/Tmobile.

Guys thanks for your help. I really appreciate it.
This method requires I buy an unlock code, which may or may not work.
I'm not sure I want to invest more money this way. Also, the link for rooting
says that method no longer works.
This Ebay seller really ripped me off. In fact they are still running auctions for unlocked
XT883, but in looking at their feedback I now see they have ripped off over 1,000 people
in the past year. surprised Ebay allows this to happen.
Mr. O, how did you unlock your XT862?
Again thanks for the assistance.

Hey. If you purchased it recently, it sounds like you're protected under your bidding rights, especially as the phone itself seems a bit fixed. ;] I haven't looked into the seller just yet, but throwing this up in the off chance this is read before I have the time to look at the bidding items.
How did you pay for the item? If you used PayPal, that makes it a bit easier. Just contact them/eBay, there should be a link or I can try and scrounge one up if you need it. I usually call PayPal directly if I have issues because they're super friendly and usually point you in the right direction.
Definitely something very deceptive going on if the internal label says XT883.
Something does not sound right if you placed your T-Mobile SIM in the phone and it did not ask you for unlock code. It may already be unlocked or it could be permanently SIM locked if someone else attempted to unlock it too many times.
They may have sold you some used or refurbished Verizon model and placed a counterfeit label on it.
I would definitely file with ebay against this seller and just get your money back.
If you really want to try and use this Verizon XT862, I would recommend the unlock procedure using the newer radio and build.prop in post #196 of the unlock thread.
It's become more than apparent that unlocking the LG G4 H811 variant is next to impossible, if you're not a T-Mobile customer. I'm on AT&T and I bought the phone from a T-Mobile employee, who purchased the phone to resell on Craigslist, using an LG promotion, exclusive to those employees. I add this detail to stress that the phone is not stolen, nor is it blacklisted. I've tried everything in my skill set to unlock it, to no avail. I've even taken it to a couple third party shops in Cleveland , who were stupefied at the new Unlock App T-Mobile forces on us to prevent unlocking. I want to use it as if I bought it from AT&T, calling, 4G data and all. Who can suggest the best possible method? I understand that a user on these forums can unlock it for $45, but this is a bit too steep for something I already spent a couple hundred dollars on. Please help!

I'm in the same boat you are in. Mine isn't blacklisted or anything T-Mobile said that the phone that I have is paid off but that it wasn't on their network for more than 18 days. I'm not understanding why if the phone is purchased outright why do you have to be on T-Mobile for a certain time? Or if their even telling me the truth.

I called their customer support and they told me to call LG and get the code, since T-Mobile gets it from them anyways. I called LG and they said to call T-Mobile... I called T-Mobile back and they told me to call the person who originally purchased the phone. I texted him, a guy about my age (I'm 21). Still waiting to hear back, but my God, the last thing I want to do when I sell something, is have the buyer come back and ask me for help. I feel like I'm bugging him. The thing I want is so simple, yet so godd**n difficult to achieve.
I am T-Mobile customer for a long time. If you have time to wait and want to get it unlocked for free you can do the following:
1) Ask some one you know with T-Mobile sim card and account and put his/her sim in your phone.
2) Make couple of calls so T-Mobile's system will register the device. You can then give the sim card back.
3) Remember that date and you may need to wait from 40 to 60 days.
4) After that period get same sim card from that person, put it in the phone and launch that Unlock App, pick "Permanent Unlock" and if you are eligible then great if not, that person will have to call T-Mobile and ask for the unlock code.
So the above is normal procedure to get a phone unlocked. This is what I do, but for me it is normal since I am a customer and able to use the phone while waiting that period.

I don't, but you can search online and I am sure you will fine it.
World GSM Codes told me that they could do it but they could not. It was suppose to happen in a couple of days. When I inquired several days later as to why I haven't been unlocked they replied that they needed a couple of more days. Since then I have sent them a few emails asking why it hasn't happened and one requesting a refund, all of which have gone unanswered. I now have a paypal claim filed against them to get my money back.

The temp unlock is good for 30 days. Afterward you will need to insert a valid T-Mobile SIM to reunlock it again. If you keep the phone on an active T-Mobile post paid line for 40 days, you can request permanent unlock and it will be unlocked for life.

I haven't used it on T-mobile, been using it on AT&T. Don't know if it was paid off or not either. Bought it off a guy on Craigslist for about $220 after I buy the accessories needed.
Tried the device unlock app, chose the permanent unlock option and it's unlocked ever since. Never had this happened on a smartphone before, I was surprised myself.

Don't waste your time calling them. I called more than 4 times. First time they send me to Samsung, that of course didn't work, called couple times more got nowhere, last time I called they "confirmed with tech support, the phone is unlocked before shipped from factory for sure", it is not. Anyhow, I finally broke down and reactivated my old tweeter account and tweeted from my phone's tmobile application and that finally seemed to work, should have it unlocked in 3 days and as soon as that's done, will unlock my wife's phone as well. But there is a price to pay: Already got few spam e-mails from tweeter and since I activated tmobile program on my phone, I can't shut that program down and leaves some permanent message in notification area that can't be erased and uses my battery. I'm going to have to clean all this up after the phone is unlocked. It seems tweeter is the only way to do it, but process itself was painless.

Are you talking about the tmobile app? Because the unlock app doesn't leave a notification. Go into the tmo app settings and simply turn off the constant notifications for data.
Also any emails you get from Twitter have nothing to do with the whole process, you could do the same thing over the phone but twitter is essentially a bypass for the first tier of support.

It seems my Note 8 is not eligible for unlock. I purchased it on Ebay. Is there any othee way to bypass T-Mo-s unlock app?

Contact T-Mobile to have it unlock(Free) or paid unlock service.

I have a feeling he is going to have to jump through hoops. He bought someones BOGO and it isn't paid off. He is going to have to wait until that guy pays it off and he's going to have to become a prepaid customer before T-Mobile will unlock the device. An unlock service won't be able to get you an unlock without the device being paid off. I suggest he return it after checking T-Mobile IMEI checker to see if there is a balance and there is one.

When the 40 days are up. and request for a permanent unlock, does that remove the t-mobile logo when boot?

if your friend really need the phone to be unlocked then, paid unlock service is only choice but it's will costly right now due to this is new model, around $100 to $150 last time i checked.

By all means you are free to do what you please with your hard earned money but just know what you're getting when you purchase the Oneplus 6T from T-Mobile stores.
The T-Mobile version is ideal for people who will use the phone stock no root and will rely on T-Mobile software updates. The device is locked down. While they do offer you $300 for old devices which is an awesome deal you are getting a crippled device and you will be settling. No pun intended.
IF YOU CARE ABOUT ROOT, KERNELS, TWEAKS & FULL CONTROL OF YOUR DEVICE AND A WARRANTY AFTER YOU UNLOCK YOUR BOOTLOADER....ORDER DIRECTLY FROM ONEPLUS.
YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO CONVERT OR FLASH ANY ROM TO THE T-MOBILE VARIANT TO CONVERT IT TO THE TRULY UNLOCKED VERSION
*** THE T-MOBILE VERSION DOES NOT SUPPORT DUAL SIM FUNCTIONALITY; EVEN THOUGH IT LOOKS LIKE IT'S THERE AND WILL WORK IT WILL NOT BE SUPPORTED BY T-MOBILE. THEY WILL NOT ASSIGN A 2ND IMEI # TO THE DEVICE TO USE A 2ND SIM ON THEIR NETWORK ***
I bought the device from the event and was told it was the “unlocked version” because I purchased outright only to get a T-Mobile boot animation, T-Mobile sounds, preinstalled apps, and a locked down bootloader only too late to return because I left NY to head back home. I got it sim unlocked via 611 which also un-greyed the oem unlock option. You then have to fill out a form and get an unlock token like the old HTC days. That takes 7 days to get the .bin file via email that allows you to bootloader unlock your phone. Not worth the time and run around.
Also think about this for those that purchase their phones outright. T-Mobile is charging $580 for the 8/128 after taxes etc you will be close to the 8/256 model that Oneplus is offering directly also depending on where you live and your tax percent rate. You can get that model (8/256) from Oneplus plus free shipping etc not to mention it’s unlocked how it should be with dual sim and the faster software updates.
Read the fine print from T-Mobile. Make your decision based on your needs.
-Never Settle
Lastly at the event Oneplus showed the following prices: $549 for 6/128, $579 for 8/128 and $629 for 8/256. Get to the T-Mobile pop-up and the T-Mobile reps come out and tell everyone around 4:30pm that there are 2 models available...The T-Mobile version for $580+tax which is the 8/128 Jet Black and the "Unlocked" version Midnight Black for $620+tax....mind you NY tax is 8.8% i think. That was an argument all in itself.
Here are some pics of my T-Mobile Oneplus 6T that I picked up and will more than likely return.
Last pic is me trying to unlock the bootloader but it asks for an unlock token in which you need the form to move forward to do so.

I see the the second sim slot is filled. Makes me wonder if software and hardware is actually in there. I wonder if if you could replace it with a two slot one and get functionality. it wouldn't be the first time a manufacture did something like this. is there anyone who can try this and verify yet?
I am a bit confused. Depending upon where I live, if I have x% tax, then won't tmo and OnePlus both charge me the same tax? It's not as if tmo will tax me but OnePlus won't right?
Useful information about bootloader unlocking etc. Thanks for that.
Can the tmo apps be uninstalled?
it's looking REAL bad for everyone here at XDA who wants to save $300 by buying from tmobile. $300 is not worth being unable to unlock the bootloader for 24 months.
If you are here at XDA, it's because you want development and tweaks to your phone. You want to be able to flash custom roms / kernels / recovery / magisk, etc. All of that requires bootloader to be unlocked.
I just had a chat with tmobile and the tmobile variant CANNOT unlock the bootloader if you want the $300 device trade in bill credits over 24 months. The only way to unlock the bootloader on the tmobile variant is if you buy the phone outright for $580 + tax, making you ineligible for the $300 trade in bill credits (which you're way better off buying directly from oneplus.com at that point).
I will be buying from oneplus.com and I suggest that you do the same.

Still going to get the phone from Tmobile. My family plan rate isn't going to be beat and I"m in it for a low cost phone with 6gb+ of memory and a large battery PLUS the 300 i'll get for my Nexus 6. I won't unlock the bootloader anyway since I use Google Pay and don't feel like modifying the phone to get it to work with an unlocked bootloader.
Things I'll miss but aren't dealbreakers
1) Always On Display. I can adapt i hope
2) Camera from pixel xl 2. I'm not a huge picture taker but pixel photos do look nice but for any big events I usually break out the RX100
3) Going caseless. Pixel XL 2 rear doesn't pick up fingerprints or oils hardly. That mirror black is going to need a case. (dbrand maybe?)

Just so you know, you can easily have google pay working with unlocked bootloader, custom recovery, a custom rom, and root via magisk. No extra tweaks or anything needed. Just flask magisk and you pass safetynet no problems.
It is also highly likely that custom roms and/or magisk modules will bring Always on Display to the 6t, which you will not be able to do with the tmobile version.

I'm fine with no flashing. I have a Google version of the pixel XL 2 and haven't even unlocked the boot loader. I'm just that lazy to do so now. I'm hearing different reports about still receiving credits after you've paid off the device. Once it's confirmed I'll just pay it off early if the desire to flash and mod ever arises. All this information is good for the consumer to know so they can see if the compromises are worth it to them.

I bought the phone yesterday as well. It does have the Tmo splash screen and one additional app (the Tmo app). I was able to unlock the phone this morning and the unlock app went away. Ok, it does have the "T-Jingle", but that's easily replaced. You can request a token for the bootloader here:
https://unlockbootloader.oneplus.com/unlock_token
I honestly wouldn't say don't buy it from Tmo, because it's right in the store and you don't have to wait. But if you want 256GB of storage or a different color, then get direct from OP. No need for a sky is falling thread.

Wait, you already SIM unlocked it? We're trying to figure out whether that's really needed or just FUD. Did you get a bootloader token back already too?
I wonder if the research by @runningnak3d will help us as a last resort.

SIM unlocked, yes. I don't think I'll unlock the BL unless there's an image that removes the Tmo splash screen and gives back the timely updates.
Get the token process started just in case.

So T-Force is saying otherwise. Looks like you need to be on EIP in order to qualify for the promo. But after the promo is activated, do whatever you want with it. The bill credits will continue to apply to service charge.
Would it be possible to sim unlock and use Sim2 slot at all on this model?

Far from a sky is falling thread. If you get what I'm saying you get what I'm saying. You aren't unlocking your BL so.......
Both @darkjedi and @charlieb were able to do the unlock via the TMobile app, which then let's them enable the "oem unlock bootloader" setting in settings.
This is only because they paid for the phone outright at $580 + tax. They did not get the $300 trade in credit.
If you get the $300 trade in credit then you cannot complete the TMobile app unlock step until 24 months later once all credits have been applied.
Further, they are now stuck waiting for the token unlock .bin file (relieved after filling out the form on OnePlus site) before can do a fastboot oem unlock.

I am in the same boat as you. I have the pixel 2 xl too, love the camera, wondering if I can live with the 6t camera. Not interested in rooting/custom roms. 279$ is a very good deal. I do want to know though if I can pay off the eip in a year and still receive credits.. Let me know if you find out please
From a few posts back it looks like you can pay it off and still receive bill credits.

I am at a loss. I bought a new in box 512GB Note 9 (SM-960FDS). The phone is the factory unlocked international model, and I used it without issue here in the U.S. for a month on T-Mobile's network. After switching to iPhone, I flashed factory firmware and sold the phone on Swappa to a user in Puerto Rico. Shortly thereafter, the user reported that the phone was network locked. More specifically, it gave the message "SIM network PIN blocked. Enter SIM network PUK", and would not connect to her carrier's network. I refunded the purchase and she returned the phone. I've tried everything from flashing multiple firmwares to hiring the professionals at UnlockBoot to fix the problem. They tried everything, including combination firmwares. After nothing worked, they went through the process of obtaining the unlock codes. A few days later I received them, but guess what? That's right - the codes didn't work. UnlockBoot ultimately sent me a refund.
Now I am stuck with a $1,100 brick. I'm curious to know if anyone else has heard of this issue before? I would love to resolve it and recoup some of my investment.
Cheers.
Does it just work on TMO now ??
Where did you get the phone from?
I get the same error using my T-Mobile SIM.

I purchased it on E-Bay since there are very few ways to get an international model here in the U.S. It was NIB, and I had no issues using it as the original owner.

Which part? Switching back to iPhone? Easy. Don't get me wrong, I love Android, but when you're entire family is on IOS it is sometimes easier to just join the club. Or did you mean the "flashing stock firmware" part? I rooted the phone and had flashed Dr. Ketan's ROM. Swappa guidelines prevent selling rooted devices, so I flashed stock before selling it.

I was asking about the Note 9, you mention reflashing. Maybe something occured during that process or prior that has implemented some sort of sim lock. Even though I've never heard of such a thing.

Isn't SIM network PIN blocked. sim issue not the phone issue you need to input PUK Code to unlock the SIM network PIN blocked issue! Also make sure you flash BTU firmware as that's the stock for unlocked models! it should be very simple i got a feeling you flashed carrier branded firmware and that's what is causing the issue!
