I bought my device from Samsung direct a TMO version. Attempted to use the unlock app on the phone but received the following message.

easy, just unlocked mine the other day. I messaged t mobile through twitter, gave them the imei, my email and phone number. make sure you tell them you purchased a t mobile variant through Samsung to save yourself some time. you also have to your t mobile sim card in the device. after they verify all your info, he will put in the unlock request and will tell you after 72 hours, go back into the unlock, click permanently unlock and you'll be good. it took a little over 24 hours and it let me unlock

I believe you have to have the phone on TMO's network for at least 40 days whether you've paid for the phone outright or not.

Normally you have to have the device paid in full, then be on the network for 3days.
If that does not work once youve done that. Give the 611 number a call and they will email you a code in about 2 days

Don't waste your time calling them. I called more than 4 times. First time they send me to Samsung, that of course didn't work, called couple times more got nowhere, last time I called they "confirmed with tech support, the phone is unlocked before shipped from factory for sure", it is not. Anyhow, I finally broke down and reactivated my old tweeter account and tweeted from my phone's tmobile application and that finally seemed to work, should have it unlocked in 3 days and as soon as that's done, will unlock my wife's phone as well. But there is a price to pay: Already got few spam e-mails from tweeter and since I activated tmobile program on my phone, I can't shut that program down and leaves some permanent message in notification area that can't be erased and uses my battery. I'm going to have to clean all this up after the phone is unlocked. It seems tweeter is the only way to do it, but process itself was painless.

Are you talking about the tmobile app? Because the unlock app doesn't leave a notification. Go into the tmo app settings and simply turn off the constant notifications for data.
Also any emails you get from Twitter have nothing to do with the whole process, you could do the same thing over the phone but twitter is essentially a bypass for the first tier of support.

I have a feeling he is going to have to jump through hoops. He bought someones BOGO and it isn't paid off. He is going to have to wait until that guy pays it off and he's going to have to become a prepaid customer before T-Mobile will unlock the device. An unlock service won't be able to get you an unlock without the device being paid off. I suggest he return it after checking T-Mobile IMEI checker to see if there is a balance and there is one.

There is only one version for all U.S. carriers so if you buy from Google it should work fine. You may have to take into a Verizon store for a new SIM card and activation.

I'm curious if the bootloader will be unlocked from Google Play and Motorola, but locked if you buy the phone at a Verizon store. I think this is the first time Verizon has ever allowed something like this. I've been stuck with my Galaxy Nexus (cyanogenmod rom) since the release and love the cleanness of stock aosp.

Will order either from Google play or Motorola, depending on which site has stock and hassle free ordering, I.e., a site which doesn't crash.

I highly doubt it would be locked. And if it was locked by default, they would probably supply you with the code to unlock it.

I'm guessing it'll be unlocked if you buy it from Google Play and Motorola, but locked if you get it from Verizon (if they even advertise or sell it). I wonder if the device is even Verizon certified yet. Remember the delays when the Galaxy Nexus came out? I remember Best Buy having them in stock and waiting to be sold but til Verizon gave everyone the go-ahead.
Will the Sim card that I have any in my note 3 work with the N6?
I'll be ordering from play store. On Verizon now with an m7 and unlimited data. I plan on getting it and taking it to the store to get a nano SIM so I can swap it with my m7. If they won't allow it, I'll just go to metro.

You should be able too if you buy off contract and they let you activate it and they should. All you need is a nano SIM provisioned on your account.

Does anyone think that getting a nano Sim from Verizon will be an issue?
It shouldn't. When I had a resound, it used a normal sim. I bought a DNA off swappa and it used a micro SIM. I went to Verizon told them I bought the phone used and would like to swap it out for the rezound. They got a micro SIM and set it up on my account and plugged it in my new phone.

Shouldn't be an issue. I had to replace my Sim when I went from galaxy nexus to note 3 because of the ISIS support, but no issues when I went back to my note 2 when the note 3 was a disappointment for me. You could even cut your Sim if they give you any crap.

I would be weary of cutting the SIM. You should have no issue asking for a nano SIM if you have an account with them. The worst that could happen is the in store employee is misinformed and says no or charges you for it.
I'm pretty sure if the size of the phone doesn't bother me I'm keeping it and I'll leave Verizon if I have to assuming they don't want to allow it because you got it from Google.

According to Verizon Tier 2 tech support and a ticket they put in on my behalf, non-Verizon nexus 6 devices won't be allowed in their database because of a claimed lack of security of the devices that don't have their firmware/software. The ticket was intended to add my device to their database and was denied. I have my phone working again because of a particularly helpful member of their tier 2 support team last night, but it isn't properly recognized and the connection is somewhat flaky. I was told I'd have to return my motorola device (which isn't possible due to return policy) and buy one from Verizon for it to work. <--Not happening unless they give me the Verizon phone for free and leave me month to month. Motorola device protection is much better anyway.
Be careful calling them with the device should you choose to. Mine was flagged immediately after/ during a call to resolve a billing dispute.
I suppose it's possible this will all be fixed when the store launch of the Nexus 6 is complete.
I'm looking for possible real solutions myself...
That's the thing with Verizon and nexus devices. They have complete control over what is allowed on their network. Main reason cdma nexus are few and far between. Not a whole lot you can do really. It is their call.
I was using a Sprint Nexus until VZ released theirs. I was able to add the HD calling on my account but at the time it did no good because it was rocking 5.0. As far as it looked on paper my non VZ device would've worked had it had the option to allow it on the phone which 5.1 does. YMMV..

That worked the first time just fine. Now tech support has to do something on their end to make it work that way. luckily the last person I spoke with from tech support was willing to do that for me.

I received my N6 02/19 from Motorola and activated it with the cut microsim from my GS3. The phone worked fine until 03/16 when I called *611 with a billing problem. Immediately following that phone call my phone was no longer activated. It brought up the "Please log into network" message. Since the phone was available from Verizon at that point I thought (silly me) that they would be able to just activate it. It's a Nexus, why should it matter where it came from? They tried activating it over the phone and it wouldn't work. I suspect on the call with customer service they picked up the problem and it kicked the phone. I spoke with Motorola, Google, and Verzion multiple times trying to correct the issue. Verizon tech support was aware all along. One party submitted a support ticket to add my IMEI to their database and that request was denied because of some crap about "security" with the non verizon version. I got that information in a voicemail, so I called back to demand a solution since the phone worked. That tier 2 support person was more saavy that the others I had spoken with and forced the activation. I tried all the troubleshooting steps anyone had to offer and none of them worked. The phone doesn't show up on our account even if you look online. I really just want the phone to work and not have to fuss with changing carriers, because I will if I have to. That threat didn't seem to phase them. The only measure I haven't tried is a fresh sim.

Your going to need a new sim. What is going to happen is if u have a unreconignzed device on your verizon account and u make changes like data/calling it wont reconignze the device. Take ur g3 in get a new sim, cut that down and then put it in the nexus and it will work. never make changes to verizon account with unreconignzed device. U need to have a verizon brand phone to make changes and then swap the sim back over.

I'm not so sure they'd be agreeable to that, but I'm open to it.
Granted, I think I would have to wait 40 days in order to switch over. Anyway to bypass that? I could have sworn I read somewhere that carriers have to unlock phones now if the customer demands it? Not sure.
You will have to have it unlocked which is now legal. I have used several tmobile phones on att with no issue. I ordered a tmobile model for att. We shall see..

It uses all of the AT&T bands though, correct? I just read on their site that it has to be used with a line for 40 days. So hopefully that's not the case.

Same here. I ordered a T-Mobile S6 for the unlocked bootloader to use on AT&T. I'm finding a lot of conflicting reports about getting them to SIM unlock it right away. Officially, it says that I have to wait 40 days (I had to sign up for a plan to get the phone), but what if I simply cancel the plan right away? What if I tell them that I need to use it overseas for work? Will they make an exception? I paid for the phone outright. I own it. I should be able to use it wherever I want.
Does anyone know how long it typically takes a third party unlocking site to have a new phone available for SIM unlocking?
Really hoping I can get it unlocked for my AT&T SIM right away. It would suck to not be able to use the phone for a while.

I'm thinking about doing the exact same thing because most likely AT&T will have a lock bootlader. As you can see in the pic capture from someone with the T-Mobile version of the Galaxy S6 in hand included is an app to unlock the device.

There is an app, but you still have to be eligible. The app checks your account before allowing it. So, if there is a mandatory 40 wait and your account is brand new, it will fail.

Are there any other Galaxy S6 models that'll work better than the T-mobile version? I'm planning to get service from Cricket (which is AT&T), never with Tmobile.
I was thinking of getting an international version later, so it's completely carrier bloat free, but I don't know if those will work on AT&T's LTE.
I had a AT&T Note 3 and hated that it was a AT&T version. Crappy software and crappy slow updates, locked down bootloader. So now I'm looking at Tmobile version like the rest of you guys, but that too looks like there might be some unwanted carrier bloat.
What happens when AT&T or Cricket starts HD Voice feature?
I'm with you on ATT, they suck. Can someone confirm if you buy a S6 outright from T-mobile that you can unlock the phone via safeunlockcode.com right away without putting the phone on contact with t-mobile for 40 days?
I might just wait until they show up in stores and buy one outright if that is the case and put it on ATT then.

Mine arrives tomorrow. I'll report back. If they give me any grief, I intend to threaten to cancel my new service (which I'm going to do anyway) and send the phone back. I paid full price for it and it's no good to me locked.
I didn't see an option to pay full price but I didn't get that far on the T-Mobile website.

Will I be able to use the T-Mobile version of the S6 on AT&T?

I did "no credit check" and had to pay a $50 deposit and add subscribe to service. It was the only way. But I paid retail price for the phone.
Seems like a waste of money if you lose that deposit and have to cancel service , etc

It's basically just $50 extra. Because the deposit just covers the first month of service. And if i cancel immediately, they may just refund me. Not sure how it works with them. Verizon lets you buy devices outright without jumping through all these hoops. Not sure why T-Mobile is so difficult.
All I know is: I need root, which means I need an unlocked bootloader, which means that this is my only option with full LTE support. The Korean models usually only support 1 AT&T band.
It's become more than apparent that unlocking the LG G4 H811 variant is next to impossible, if you're not a T-Mobile customer. I'm on AT&T and I bought the phone from a T-Mobile employee, who purchased the phone to resell on Craigslist, using an LG promotion, exclusive to those employees. I add this detail to stress that the phone is not stolen, nor is it blacklisted. I've tried everything in my skill set to unlock it, to no avail. I've even taken it to a couple third party shops in Cleveland , who were stupefied at the new Unlock App T-Mobile forces on us to prevent unlocking. I want to use it as if I bought it from AT&T, calling, 4G data and all. Who can suggest the best possible method? I understand that a user on these forums can unlock it for $45, but this is a bit too steep for something I already spent a couple hundred dollars on. Please help!

I'm in the same boat you are in. Mine isn't blacklisted or anything T-Mobile said that the phone that I have is paid off but that it wasn't on their network for more than 18 days. I'm not understanding why if the phone is purchased outright why do you have to be on T-Mobile for a certain time? Or if their even telling me the truth.

I called their customer support and they told me to call LG and get the code, since T-Mobile gets it from them anyways. I called LG and they said to call T-Mobile... I called T-Mobile back and they told me to call the person who originally purchased the phone. I texted him, a guy about my age (I'm 21). Still waiting to hear back, but my God, the last thing I want to do when I sell something, is have the buyer come back and ask me for help. I feel like I'm bugging him. The thing I want is so simple, yet so godd**n difficult to achieve.
I am T-Mobile customer for a long time. If you have time to wait and want to get it unlocked for free you can do the following:
1) Ask some one you know with T-Mobile sim card and account and put his/her sim in your phone.
2) Make couple of calls so T-Mobile's system will register the device. You can then give the sim card back.
3) Remember that date and you may need to wait from 40 to 60 days.
4) After that period get same sim card from that person, put it in the phone and launch that Unlock App, pick "Permanent Unlock" and if you are eligible then great if not, that person will have to call T-Mobile and ask for the unlock code.
So the above is normal procedure to get a phone unlocked. This is what I do, but for me it is normal since I am a customer and able to use the phone while waiting that period.

Do you know how to access the frequency settings on the LG G4? I spoke to a very helpful representative and he was about to help me unlock it, when the line disconnected.

I don't, but you can search online and I am sure you will fine it.
World GSM Codes told me that they could do it but they could not. It was suppose to happen in a couple of days. When I inquired several days later as to why I haven't been unlocked they replied that they needed a couple of more days. Since then I have sent them a few emails asking why it hasn't happened and one requesting a refund, all of which have gone unanswered. I now have a paypal claim filed against them to get my money back.

Is it just me or does everyone's T-mobile LG G4 comes with an app that allows you to permanently unlock your device?
When I clicked on the "Device Unlock" app it allow me to choose from temporary unlock and permanent unlock, I chose the latter and it been working ever since on AT&T even after reset and root.

The temp unlock is good for 30 days. Afterward you will need to insert a valid T-Mobile SIM to reunlock it again. If you keep the phone on an active T-Mobile post paid line for 40 days, you can request permanent unlock and it will be unlocked for life.
Sent from my LG-H811 using Tapatalk
I haven't used it on T-mobile, been using it on AT&T. Don't know if it was paid off or not either. Bought it off a guy on Craigslist for about $220 after I buy the accessories needed.
Tried the device unlock app, chose the permanent unlock option and it's unlocked ever since. Never had this happened on a smartphone before, I was surprised myself.

I just noticed an ad on e-bay claiming the T-Mobile app unlock service is working again.

Was wondering is there any benefits or cons of buying Sprint n9 or unlocked n9 both from Samsung USA directly?
It's my understanding that Sprint automatically unlocks devices after 50 days of service. If I buy an unlocked n9 from Samsung directly then I'd have to buy a sim card too for upgrade purposes from a note 8.
Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
If you fully purchase the phone from Sprint, it's supposed to be 50 days, and it's not automatic. You have to call and wait for it to be cleared. If you buy it from Samsung unlocked, it comes unlocked immediately. That seems the better way to go to me, if your going to put up all the money up front any way.

If I buy the Sprint branded from Samsung directly surely it will be locked ?
I bought my t mobile N8 from Samsung directly last year and it was locked and had to be unlocked via t mobile for me to able to use it on Sprint currently.
Also on a side note, t mobile had to contact Samsung before they could unlock my t mobile device , because the IMEI wasn't on t mobiles database. Even though it was a t mobile note 8.

Sprint doesn't unlock device after 50 days of use. They will only unlock after the device is paid off. I had my S7E for over a year and a half and its still locked up. Not only that, Sprint is one of the worst in terms of customer service so I will be leaving them shortly. I ordered a blue unlocked Note 9 from Samsung which I'll be using instead of the S7E. The S7E I will pay off the remaining balance and trade it in to Samsung for the credit.

With sprint, you will not be getting volte anyway. I'm certainly not getting internet connection when I'm on a call with my S7E. It's some bs if you ask me. When I initially found out about this switching over from T-Mobile (I was with Tmo for 10+years) I was shocked. I do not use sprint vvm as I have google voice but I heard you can download that separately.

Also they do have volte which is active on my Note 8s and hope to have on my Note 9s.
Thought I would provide some correct information.

Is this something you're getting because you rooted? My Sprint S7E has no internet while on call. Things like google maps will stop working in online mode, I can't check the internet nor check gmail while on a call. I called sprint only to find out they do not offer simultaneous voice and internet. So i'm not sure how you're getting it. I will check again after writing this message to see if sprint somehow turned that function on.
EDIT: Nope, still no internet while on call. Either your Note 8 has something my S7E doesn't have or you're on wifi and you just weren't aware? Like I said Sprint told me they do not have this feature so i'm not sure how you're getting it. Thought I would provide some correct information

I think he's talking about the calling plus feature which currently let's you use voice and data if also connected to wifi and mobile data.
I doubt calling plus will work in the unlocked version which I'm getting.
I pulled the trigger and ordered an unlocked version. Stupid me, paying $600 ( after trade in) for stereo speakers and 20% bigger battery. Now I'll have to order a new sim card and do imei change via my Sprint dashboard when I receive the n9.

Yeah, as I mentioned, if you're on wifi it'll definitely let you use the internet while on a call. By the way, I'm in the same shoe I ordered a Note 9 unlocked from Samsung to use on sprint for the next few months before I switch. Why the next few months? because while I'll pay off the S7E, the BOGO S7E won't be paid out fully until 2 full years.
We're in the same boat.
I'm assuming I need a new sim card as I've learned that I cannot merely swap the note 8 Sprint card into the unlocked note 9 when it arrives. Any tips?
