Hi all,
I've got a problem:
When im taking photos with my rooted incredible s runnning aosp rom (CM7, MIUI all versions, icsbeta) the quality is very bad and the focus is very laggy, there is also alot of overexposure. Theres also alot grain in darker pictures.
When im installing sense based roms (tried 3) then the quality and focus/exposure is good again.
for some pictures you can pm me and you will get them asop, cant post pictures yet.

This is a issue on all aosp roms because they don't have HTC camera drivers. However there is a aosp ics rom called virtuous quattro 4.0.3 that doesn't have camera lag however its not fully working.
God damn it I love this question.
Thats really the biggest weak point of aosp.
The roms are just great!, i like miui alot!
But the downside is the cam,
I've not seen this question somewere else, is it that only the ins suffers the most?
Other cam apps wont bother.
I just want best of both worlds together.
The cam of htc rulezz and interface and possibilities of miui rulezz.
(With MIUI i get 3200quadrant
and 3750 antutu oc stable on 1.5)
All HTC phones run crap camera rez without sense
My CM7 seems decent quality with no lag?

hey guys i was wondering what everybodys opinon was on the quality of the two. picture and video recording. Im actually more intersted in the 480p option because he 720p is just to jerky and with jagged lines and very low framerate. I would much rather have smooth video vs choppy high def
No comparison, I actually abandoned cyanogen to get the desire cam. It's night and day, htc cam wins.

I don't know, I'm torn. I like all of the settings in the new cam in cm6. There are a lot of settings and tweaks, and i also like the icon better. but yeah man, i agree that its like night and day.
Where and how can I get the desire camera application?
My phone is rooted but still has stock 2.2 android. Does that matter?

I just switched to Enoms ROM the other day from Cyanogen RC3... and I love the Desire cam and the HTC Music app far more than the Android defaults. And even though Music Mod makes so good changes to the default music app, it doesn't sync with Last FM, but the HTC Music app does. The Desire cam is not only more visually pleasing on the screen, and easier to operate... plus has touch to focus, but I feel it takes a better picture with the same camera hardware... this could easily be a placebo effect though.
How would you guys rate the camera in the incredible S? I am finding it OK but no where near as good as my wife's sgs2. What's your thoughts? I had an iPhone 4 before and I'd put it in the same bracket as that.

It's good if you're on a custom Rom

i'm using htc amaze camera in my IS and its by far the best mobile cam i've used even compared it with sgs2 it beat the **** out sgs2 in stills
For me, I found the quality of IncS camera just average. It's too much noise and doesn't perform good in low light condition. Even my previous Hero (5M) has better quality than it.
I've never had any problems. It think the picture quality is excellent. Some of the still images I have look better than pictures my gf took on her 14mpx camera.

I must try and do a side by side comparison v an SGS2, I've found on the phone screen when look at it pics seem fine, when you download them and display on the computer they have no where near as much detail i've found them a bit artefact. This was a photo I took on a SGS2, I've always loved how much detail it gives.

The image you have provided looks somewhat overexposed. There's also no comparison pic to understand the issues you have brought up.
There's a guide for the dhd here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=875230 you might be able to apply some of the settings on the Inc s.
the stock camera is great - but once you get rid of Sense by flashing a AOSP ROM, the camera sucks. I have CM7.1 and the one thing I miss is the Sense camera.
It is RUBBISH!

couldn't have said it better - any other form of camera except the sense one is crap
but having said that, the sense one is excellent imo
PS key2gb - check out Nik SensationXL rom, i value speed and performance of my phone over almost anything else, but his sense rom gives fantastic performance, best ive used by a mile - and i got my camera back lol
It's better than any other camera I've had one a phone.
Consider the following:
It's a phone.
Nice cam in Nik`s 2.5 rom
Buy a dslr cam if u want a good 1..4 what u want to compare incs with s2?? Cam..lol

I hear that the camera in Inc S is the best that HTC put in their phones (maybe Sensation have it even better).
I´ve got before Inc S classic phone without OS Sony Ericsson C905 (from Cyber-Shot family), and in compare, SE takes pictures better (hmmm... I think it takes the best pictures in whole world of mobile phones). But if you have enough lightened scene, then Inc S takes nice pictures.
It´s the matter of view. If I want take a quick picture of something, it is enough. For better pictures I rather take DSLR.
The quality of the camera with the stock ROM is really great. Switching to a custom rom you loose something, but considering the big picture, I wouldn't be back. HTC will probably never update this phone to ICS.

It's fine, but the flash led can not flash with correct situation.
It is no good , but you may try to install the third software of camera , for example :LG camera, 360 camera , it's better
The quality of HTC IS Camera seems quite good for me. But compared to my previous (Sams i8910) phone its certanly worse...
The i8910 had one of the best cameras! It has juicy colors in photos and video! Was checking it with my friend's Nokia N8, my i8910 and HTC IS.
1) Nokia N8
2) Samsung i8910 Omnia HD
3) HTC Incredible S

funny, I was just checking out his thread. I want to wait for CM9 to come out and then I might switch back to Sense. I really like my set up right now and I'm interested to see what CM9 brings to the table.
Hello guys. I just flashed Virtuous Quattro's ICS ROM and after playing around with it I realized that the camera has a bit of a problem ( tho I knew it did from the forums ) and I was just wondering which camera apps which are out on the market is the best for taking good pictures. I've tried Camera360, FxCamera but it's not really satisfying. ( Could be because I came from a sense ROM although I prefer AOSP builds but sense cameras are just really good )
If possible can anyone name me a few camera apps I could try out? One that can focus manually if there is an app that does that. THANKS IN ADVANCE GUYS!
Here are a few I have tried - Ucam, lgCamera, CameraMX and Pudding Camera.. They are all pretty decent.
amaze camera is greate
camerazoomfx and vignette(good post processing)
Hi All,
I have a Note N-7000. I got it just a few weeks before ICS roll out. The Camera behaves weird and now its not the same as it was in 2.3.
daylight photos are okay but low light photos are really thumbs down and a lot of Red-Eye.
I still have photos before and after update and I can see quality of photos degrading after that!!!
Is Every1 having similar opinions or do I need any other settings to better the quality of photos??
Need you opinion...
Camera on ICS AND JellyBean is Better than on GingerbREAD
I still feel that camera quality has degraded in ICS..is your note also a GT N-7000??
Everyones note there is a GT-N7000....would be really weird if the folks who use the american Note were hanging out here.....
But no, I've not noticed it and the camera in the JellyCore ROM (JellyBean rom) is better than the GB one

We'll my brother has the I717 and comparing my N7000 to his, I'd say the cam resolution is much more cleaner and sharp as compared to mine.. Though I can't say if this is ROM related or so.... he has CM10 installed and I have the (self modified) LRQ one. Not that it matters though.
exactly the same thing I observed that the indian note camera's quality's degraded than thew others..I see a lot of red-eye too when i use flash..is there any setting for removing that or any update or something that would better the quality..??
Just wondering what everyone's opinions are on what camera is better:
Stock Sony Camera, or the Cyanogenmod 12.1 Camera.
Thinking of switching back to cyanogen but would still like a good camera to use.
Dude, stock camera beats the cyanogen's cam because cyanogen doesn't have the implementation yet, resulting in a fish eye effect. Also stock has the slow-mo recording. But if you think of the battery life, customization and ownage of your phone, then I suggest give cyanogen a try. I sticked with stock rom for a long while but then I started using cyanogen, no regrets, even with the fish eye camera! You can pm me if you got other questions. I'm using 5.5.9 Resurrection Remix.

You can use a ported app but as it has something to do with the software of the cm roms so, you'll still have the fish eye effect. Also no slow-mo i guess...
