So yeah, the title pretty much says it. Basically, I could get any phone on the market (except iPhone, it's too expensive and I don't like it). I thought about Galaxy S II, but I have heard it overheats and they don't sell the G model in my country. I also thought about the HTC EVO 3D, but I've heard it has bad cameras and a bad CPU (old architecture). So are there any other good choices? If you do think there are, please choose from here: http://elisa.ee/et/Eraklient/Pood
Thanks for the answers!
just get the galaxy s 2.
thats what i would have done if i knew that there would be such huge problems with nvidia and their damned source code.
I personally like my P990, but if NVIDIA/LG doesn't release something soon it might be not very interesting...
the galaxy II seems like a very good phone, I would go with that one
otherwise maybe the Xperia arc S?
I think the freexperia team is doing a pretty good job
So guys, I still decided to buy the 2X. The Galaxy S2 was 500 euros and I just thought that I could put that 200 euros that was left over into building a bad-ass gaming PC in the future. I'm satisfied with it right now, the stock ROM doesn't lag nearly as bad as I thought although the newest available in my country is 2.2.2 FroYo. Of course, I will root it and slap a custom ROM on it later.
Well, welcome to the family then, and I will see you around .
If you think the stock rom works fine, you should immediately root and install the lastest CM7 nightly and see how it blows your mind =D

(do a back-up so you can easily restore stock, just in case)

If you don't know how to use a smartphone better shut up.
@Topic starter:If you can get a S2 then go for it.It's a little bit better.Even so, 2 of my friends had overheating problems.
I still recommend O2X and I don't regret that i bought it.With a custom rom it runs very smooth and gaming is a pleasure.LG/Nvidia support could be better.
Sent from my Optimus 2X using Tapatalk
are you hurry with the smartphone??, because there will be LG 4x quad core with tegra 3 and ofcourse exynos chipset with quad core but not released yet. you should see gsmarena.com there are HTC, ZTE, huawei(if not mistaken) will get tegra 3. so the question are you really hurry in buying smartphone?? if you're in hurry yes take o2x, it's good price, and it will come CM9 based on ICS(4.0.3). but CM7 is good with KANG and etana kernel or ironkernel
I would advise you reading a bit more... there are far too many "comparison" thread floating around.
Cheers!
Well, I'm an x8 user, I'm gonna change the phone in some months and wanna ask if i really should buy this device
I know too much about roms cuz well I'm developing one
I wanna ask you guys, should i use it in stock and then wait for official ics or stock roms suck?
Does this phone really need all the stuff to work smooth? I mean custom kernel, rom etc because well its dualcore phone and looks that in some post i read, my phone works better
Thanks

It's an awesome phone with cm7
well the stock rom it's not the best out there obviously... blatware apps, poor kernel make it a bad choice if you have alternatives.
for me, the best one is CM7, even better with a custom kernel like the Etana one. lots of tweaks and optimizations if you know what i mean

Hi leroy.
I will give you my personal unbiased opinion about it.
I bought the phone and it came with stock froyo (android 2.2). And I thought it was fine. I could play games with no problems at all. Didn't experience any of the problems that lots of people were complaining about (SoD, bad battery life, etc). I "test-drove" it for three weeks more or less, just to make sure everything was working fine, and it was.
And then I flashed temasek's latest kang and vadonka's latest kernel. And I do not regret it one bit. The phone is smoother, more responsive, and battery life is better by at least 25%. Unfortunately I did not do a quadrant benchmark before flashing, so I don't have a before and after comparison, but the phone "feels" much better, no doubts about it.

I tend to believe that what differs from phone to phone is the "bloatware" that carrier dependent phones have installed. I bought an unbranded phone, so I am guessing that is the main reason why I was such a happy customer to begin with, even with stock ROM. A stock unbranded ROM, I might add.

Sorry But i dont know what bloatware mean
sent from my x8 using TecnoBread
My definition of "bloatware" is basically crap software that your carrier (for example vodafone or movistar or whatever) preloads in your branded phone (phone sim locked to your carrier). This software is usually very bad software poorly developed that has memory leakage and drains your battery.
This might be a very biased opinion from me, but usually I like my operating systems to be as clean as possible, only with the software/applications I really need and use. This usually makes for a very fast, responsive and efficient system.

Well, so installing custom rom will replace craping software or just similar unlocking phone?
Also i have hear this is a great phone for developing, but why there's not too much moves as in our threads? Couldn't it be because the phone doesn't need too much developing?
Another question, will official ics fix that or i should upgrade to cm9?

Trust me, the devs for the O2X are awesome. They seriously do great jobs and even create miracles for this device. Just about a month ago, CM9 wasn't available. Many things didn't work, but now thanks to awesome guys like RC and Owain, they made it available to us.
If I were you I wouldn't wait do the official LG release. The GB release was way overdue. LG promised release dates they didn't met and I think this will also happen with ICS. LG said that they would release ICS during the 2nd quarter of this year. I bet that LG won't release it then but probably in 2013 .

I don't know if there is HDMI out or not in CM, because I've never used it while using CM, but it does work fine in MIUI.
And what do you mean by "8 MP is 6 MP"? I thought the resolution just stays the same. Either way, the stock camera app has been ported over to CM7 based roms, and it works just as good as in stock ROM.
Honestly, using MIUI (Wiui to be exact), the experience is alot better, and there is almost no feature sacrificed compared to stock

There are batteries you can buy with more capacity than the stock battery that comes with the phone.
However, I can easily get two day battery life with the stock battery, so personally I don't understand why so many people complain about their battery life. As far as I know it's about the same as other smart phones.
Hi guys, I'm definitely thinking about buying an LG Optimus 2X, because over here in NZ it is by far the cheapest dual core phone, yet is similar/on par with many of the latest phones.
Before I decide to buy it however, I'd just like to ask a few questions to clear things up.
- Based on many reviews, the UI seems occasionally choppy, and I've also heard that many users aren't happy with a large number of bugs and crashes. Is this fixed when the phone is updated from froyo to gingerbread? Ice cream sandwich is also officially coming for the 2X which sounds promising.
- Is the battery life acceptable? Spec sheets say it runs on a 1500 mAh battery which sounds, theoretically, quite awful :/ I'd like to know if you get used to it or not. I'm not a huge traveler, so I'd use it at home most of the time, occasionally when going out.
- Design-wise, the camera protrudes slightly on the back. I'm worried that this might make the lens more susceptible to damage and cracks. Has this affected anyone?
I'd really appreciate answers for these questions. Thanks a lot.
Hi!
1. The stock ui can be choppy because of the crappy software that comes on your phone. This is because the stock LG rom kind of sucks and is really slow. This problem persists on both Froyo and Gingerbread I believe. Therefore my advice is to root your phone and flash a custom rom on it. This will make your phone a lot smoother and better. Also, I wouldn't wait for the official ICS update. Knowing LG, this might take some time, just like when they released Gingerbread. They said that they would release ICS during the 2nd quarter of the year, but I wouldn't be surprised if they would release it somewhere in 2013...
Anyway, CM9 is available to us, and this is ICS, although not stock. You can find a couple of CM9 (and CM7) roms in the dev section.
2. The battery life is pretty good. But only when you use a good custom rom. I've heard many stories from people who got massive battery drains on stock unrooted phones. Sometimes they can't even last a day with normal usage! However, with my current combination. (signature ) I can last for about 2 days with moderate usage. (twitter, Facebook, 9gag, YouTube, XDA App, and about a hour gaming) So, yeah, again, root and flash your phone.
3. Don't worry about the camera. So far, I never heard a story of someone who cracked their lens. The camera quality on stock is actually quite good and on normal CM not really. But, by flashing camera mod you can really improve it and make it close to stock. Also, the piece of glass in front of the lens can be broken. Some users, like me, make better pictures without the back cover on. This is because the piece of glass in front of the lens can be quite dirty and full of fingerprints. That's why I decided to cut it out . Don't worry about the lens, it has its own protection too.
Hope this helped!

Even when you remove the back cover the camera still has the lens (just like any normal compact camera), The back cover is actually only there to prevent the lens from getting dirty, I believe, and it's easy to clean (every time I take a picture I clean the back cover with my shirt and the results are pretty good )
Now, regarding the OP, I bought it and I don't regret my purchase not one bit. It's true a lot of people complain about bugs and crashes but my experience even with the stock Froyo ROM was actually good. And when I flashed a custom ROM what was already good just got great.
So yeah, I would say there's nothing out there that beats the price/quality on the O2X.
@LarsPT
Uhuh, that's true. The lens has its own piece of glass in front of it which protects it. The extra piece of glass from the backcover is just to make sure that the lens doesn't get dirty. In my case, this extra glass remains dirty even if I try to clean it. Therefore I decided to cut it out...

Thanks a lot for that detail. I'd like to ask a couple more questions though
I can see that you're using CM7. I've thought about rooting the O2X if I ever got it, but I've heard that the camera and video recording is a bit screwed up if you root the O2x with CM. Is this true? If this is, there are many ways to fix it right?
Once again thanks. The main things I want to use a phone such as the 2X for is web browsing, gaming, mail on the go and cameras.

I think you'll be more than happy with the O2X to do all of the above.
If you want to check picture quality you can check it here:
http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150296662400657.555672.662115656&type=3&l=8675ea8903
The first four photos (take a look at the arc de la défense) were taken with it, I like it.
Thanks to everyone who's posted. I've just got one more question for people who have rooted their 2X. The web browsing seems quite laggy when using stock froyo (perhaps gingerbread?). When you root the phone, is this problem solved? Thanks.
Hi Beplexor!
When I'm surfing the web the only time I get a "laggy" experience is when the reception is not so great, like when I'm on the train or bus. If I'm at a fix position with HDSPA it surfs great. I haven't even felt the need to user another browser other than the stock one.
Really, there's nothing I can throw at this phone that it can't handle! I'm not the most demanding of users, but still, I find it great!
I'm glad everyone is so positive about this phone, but I am not.
It has lots of issues and glitches, and although tweaking, rooting and installing custrom roms is certainly nice, there is always this or that 'wrong' with it. It all depends on what you want.
If you like tweaking and messing around and don't mind some rough edges, then yes, it is a nice phone which works well.
If you want a phone that just works, then no, this phone is not a good idea.
Stock firmware has major issues, dependant on some unknown variables - could be hardware revision, could be network, could be xxx.. Fact is, that I cannot use stock firmwares of Gingerbread properly at all. And there are more people with this problem. The cell-radio keeps crashing. CM 7.1/7.2 does not have this problem, so I'm using this.
However, voice quality is poor, I have issues with Wifi not wanting to activate after 2-3 days and I need to reboot every 1-2 days anyway because of performance drops. After 48 hours it is impossible, for example, to watch a Youtube video, use Skype or play any game. After a reboot performance is great again.
So, it all depends on what you want with and expect from a phone. And of course how much money you're willing to spend and a whole lot of other factors
And as for the CM9 builds (ICS): the camera doesn't work properly and things like FM radio don't work (properly). Also, no HW acceleration so some newer ICS apps don't work either. So, I'm eagerly awaing the official LG ICS to see how that fares.
Bottom-line: I'm not saying the phone is bad for everyone or it's a piece of crap, I'm just saying that if it is important to you that the phone 'just works' and 'always works', then this phone is not a good idea.

If your phone was crap with stock firmware I think you have a faulty equipment and should have asked for a replacement.
My phone worked great with stock and works excellent with custom.
No matter what brand you choose there will always be faulty equipment. Of course, some brands have tighter quality control then others, and that reflects on the price.
For the price of this phone it is normal to expect worse quality control, this just means the probability of getting a faulty equipment are higher, you just have to test it properly and send it back if it doesn't work.
Of course, if this is something you would rather pay more and not have to worry about this, I would advise against LG, but so far this is my second LG phone and I'm a happy customer!
Thanks for your reply. Based on my experiences with the device, I am pretty sure it's not faulty equipment.
The price of the phone was close to 500 euros when I got it, so the argument about the price doens'nt really hold, imho.
Let's just say there are people that are happy with it, and there are also a lot of people that are unhappy. Therefore, I personally cannot recommend this phone if you want one that always/just works.
We might have some semantics problems here.
In your original post you say "Stock firmware has major issues, dependant on some unknown variables - could be hardware revision, could be network, could be xxx.. "
When you say the hardware revision is a factor, for me hardware revisions are there because the older hardware had flaws. For me this qualifies as faulty equipment.
The "current" hardware revision, or at least the one I've got, worked fine out of the box. Maybe that's why you're not as happy a customer as I am, because you got a "hardware revision" from back when the price was still 500 eur. Now I can say it's much better, I've had no issues so far at all.
Hi guys, I'm only 15 years old and any phone I buy will be bought using my own money earned from a part time job. I want a medium-high end phone, but it's my own money and I'm not willing to cash out heaps, therefore I think the O2X will be a great choice. I understand it's not the most stable phone out there, but the fact remains that it IS a very affordable dual core phone.
I know that you guys say root and flash the moment you get it, but like some people say in this thread, the phone doesn't seem to work to its full potential e.g absence of certain applications, shady camera etc. If I get the phone, it's highly likely that I'll just wait until stock ICS comes out, which isn't far away; LG promised it within Q2 of this year.
Yeah, well I wouldn't wait for LG if I were you. It's more likely that they will release ICS during the 2nd quarter of 2013 than this year...
Also, the stock rom doesn't get the full potential out of the phone because the stock software is just really, really bad. The O2X has a great piece of hardware but this crappy stock rom makes the phone so ****ty...
The only way to get the full potential out of this device is to root and flash it with any custom rom and kernel. Trust me, you'll notice an enormous difference in speed, stability and smoothness.

Thanks a lot for that! I've actually decided to get the O2X now, just ordered it! I have just been on the official cyanogenmod site and I've come across the mod for O2X. There is a list of of three downloads: Stable Mod, Experimental Mod and Nightly Builds. Which one is the version that you currently have?
Finally, I'd just like to clear things up fully. On the version that you have, what are the main issues (if they exist at all)? For me, cameras, gaming, web browsing and texting are a must; they all work fine right? I'd still like to be aware of any other bugs or non-fully functioning aspects of CM. Thanks!

Uhmm... I use the Unofficial Build (KANG) from Temasek. Don't worry, it's still CM but then with some extra little goodies baked in (cherry-pickings). With other words, I use a CM7 version compiled by an user, Temasek, instead of a CM7 version compiled by the official CM bot. But if you want an official CM7, then you should use the latest Nightly Build, because they're far more stable than the 'Stable Mod', not to mention that nightlies are even better too. Actually, you can compare Temaseks Unofficial build with the latest nightly, I believe there's not much difference between them. Nevertheless, a lot of people like his Unofficial builds.
There are no issues for CM7 I believe. I'm using it for about four months now (actually three, I also played a month around with CM9 which is a little too buggy for me, but it was awesome anyway ) However you should keep in mind that the camera quality of CM7 is not so good, compared to the stock camera quality. This is because the camera needs special libs from the stock LG rom to work good and those libs don't work on CM7 for some reason. But, there's a solution to that! Go to Temaseks KANG thread (link in signature) and go the third post. There you'll find a whole lot of mods compiled by other users. Download and flash the camera mod by Kostja_V in CWM recovery. This improves the camera a lot.
Hope this helped!

..If I try any STOCK ROm..that stops half way...update fails..
Now I am STUCK what to do pleeez help..
I just picked one up very happy with it running cm7 only came from a blade tho so much better.
I think it's worth it.
It's a decent dual-core phone, probably not the best. but for 100
I'm not sure you'd get a better deal elsewhere. It overclocks easily
and Jellybean is going to come out and it should be interesting to see
what happens with our LG02X
worth buying WEEELLLL for me it was .... i got one for a lil less than 100euros, for a 2011 high class smartphone its golden (all accessory original box delivery inclued)
funniest i had a GT-I9000 he died, but the cheapest i could find beside that P990 was merely 50/100 euros more ... weird for a 2yrs old middle class smartphone (still the SGS is a wonderfull phone (normal one not S+ or other)
worth it? definitely!
the only thing that bugged me was Nvidia policy wich make the GT-I9000 more lively when it come to custom roms but XDA proved i can get ICS delicacy on mu P990 too
I managed to pick one up for £120 on eBay the other month. Quite chuffed with it so far. It's faster than my previous devices and the screen is much nicer.
I'm currently running Gingerbread MIUI but fancy trying something different.

Hey all,
I saw an offer: used optimus 2x for 100euros.
Question is: Is optimus worth buying? What about custom rom support? Is it decent anymore?
Many thanks for your answers in advance

is it worth it? it all depends on what you wanna do with it, how much patience you have with LG's (lack of) support, and whether you enjoy flashing nightlies/kangs that are still under development.
I bought mine second hand at a similar price as yours, and for me, yes, it was definitely worth it. It's my first smartphone and for the combination of reasons stated above, I have quickly became a flashholic and frequent visitor to the xda. As a results, I've learned a lot about Android phones and became a passionate loyal fan of them, as well as a grateful supporter if the awesome developers in these forums.
So, again, it depends on why you're shopping for one but it was worth it for me.

If its from XDA then ou can call ait totally worth it. Even same foot as a sgs III or a on X (with less power offcourse)

100eur it is very good deal for the performace which you will get.. Overclock up to 1.5ghz, smooth tegra2 cpu, on stock rom I had weak battery, now i use tamasek's rom and on 1.3ghz it is so much better, but still best results on CM9, but it is useless without a cam and hardware support, so if you want to wait for official ICS release, you should get it. But keep in mind, try to never drop it, it is definitely not shock proof

heh.. mate, they struggle to give us ICS and you dream about JB ?
thanks for your opinions. So official ICS update is on the way?
but if not, that's not a big deal, I like cm perfomance and I dont like bloats very much (but sense and touchwiz are good)

I said JB in general, mind you once/if the drivers are released for ICS, JB isn't that big a step up. Even if the right drivers aren't released, JB roms should come out for O2X once the source code is out in 2 weeks, whether some things work or not!
For that sort of price you could do a lot worse, I've had a rough relationship with my o2x with it being full of bugs but it's worth it for those times that it does what it's supposed to. The only word of warning is it needs flashing, the stuff LG put on there isn't great so i've warned a few friends off knowing i'd be there technical support when they inevitably brick it, but as your on here I'm sure you'll be fine with this side of stuff.

i fall in love with this phone is a beast with full of feature, the 4.0 inch IPS lcd display is better than samsung super amoled the colour is super natural and solid
If LG launched ICS, the devs here on XDA would certainly make a modified version of that ROM, and then we would unleash the phone's real power...
...but since the people at LG are a bunch of retards, I don't think it's worth waiting for an official update...

I agree the display is beautiful... I've got friends using iPhone and they were still surprised how bright the display on this phone was....
Before using it, I had a HTC desire, and if people complained about the LG draining the battery too quickly, compared to my desire, the battery still lasts longer.
And so far, people complain about o2x rebooting for no reason, even if it did happen to me, so far it hasn't been a disturbance...
All in all, I think it is a great phone

I need some opinions here. I am coming from a Galaxy Wonder and I would like an upgrade. Have currently earmarked this device on top of my wishlist. I would like to know if this phone's tech is able to last around 2-3 years.
I'm particularly concerned about the 1 GB RAM this phone has. Is 1 GB enough?
Thanks in advance guys.

1GB is more than enough in most phones, I've never had RAM management problems with this one.
However, my answer is a big NO.
Let me elaborate;
>Battery life
With proper greenifying, wakelock detecting, and no more than 2% per 12h of battery discharge, it has a decent battery life, but it seems the screen and the tegra 3 chip draw a lot of power from it. An extended battery does fix that though, but don't expect more than 3h of screentime on a normal usage day and 60-70% brightness, on a normal battery.
>Stock ROM
Looks great, feels great, kernel is easily updated (if you got the bootloader unlocked, flash another one), and then works great too. This phone, in my opinion is meant to be the LG Optimus G's younger brother. I've tried a lot of custom roms, but stock is the one that takes it away from me, after properly kdz flashed (without the bloat apps and stuff).
>Heating issues
10 mins of playing, well, pretty much anything that's 3D makes the phone really hot, no thermal throttling though, but don't expect this phone to last if you play an hour of gaming or more. Even Subway Surf kills the battery.
>Tegra 3 incompatibility/unoptimized apps
Most games are made with Adreno in mind, needless to say, Adreno is not better than the T3, just has more optimizations done for it. Also some apps aren't available via the Play Store on this phone, but that can vary depending on your region.
In my opinion, I'd always go with an SGS3, even with stock touch wiz and bloat, because
a) it gets proper software updates, unlike LG and all of their devices, not just the 4X HD.
b) better modding support/community
c) apparently heats up a lot less and lasts a lot more, that also means given its support there's bound to be more extended batteries, cases, stands, cradles, docks, and equipment for it.
The only thing the 4X HD has going for it is the price, I've paid 180e for it, and it was a huge step up from an even worse phone than yours (Samsung Galaxy Mini, s5570), but so far, I'm not a happy camper.
And the screen has a dead pixel on it, which irks me a lot.
Oh and apparently someone took the KDZ repository on that one site down. Dunno what the deal with that is too.

i would buy it, since it has good specs, and with custom roms you will have support for quite some time in future, i hope
1 GB of ram for me is enough, i don't play games on it, and after greenify hibernates apps, i got around 400 - 450 mb free, rom is latest vanir rom 4.3.1. dated 26.10.2013., and i am also using killjoy script
phone works really good, only little problem is with baseband_xmm_power wakelock, but devs are working on that and slow but surely this problem is getting reduced
camera is good for taking pictures, at least for me
i would only like that lock key is on the right side, current position is little awkward, but you get used to it
that's it from me
Thanks for the replies guys.
Hmm.... really now debating which to get 4X HD or S3 really a tough decision. I would want the 4X HD as I'm just a little bored of Samsung, but the S3 looks like will get better dev support. Its hard.

Would love to have one, but they're pretty expensive for me.
After some 'extensive' research, I have finally found the Xperia ZR. Maybe I might get it once the price drops (next year perhaps). Had earlier found the Optimus G to my liking, but I just dislike the glass back and front . Well, both have CM support which is a good thing for me

Do not buy this phone. I repeat DO NOT!
Battery life sucks, and it gets hot. It is a fricking smart frying pan. Seriously you can cook an egg on it. And it lags oh boy it lags like hell.
A good phone shouldn't need this much optimization to work better. I tried every CM, kernel etc but either you get good battery life and ****ty gaming performance or you get good performance and horrible battery life (like 2-3 hours max).
Get Optimus G or S3 but don't get this.

If you can get it for a good price and are willing to root and customize it, it's probably the best bang for a buck you can get at the moment.
The IPS screen is simply gorgeous. It's even more pleasing to the eye than my HTC One LCD screen if you ask me my honest opinion. Yes, it tends to drain the battery heavily, but with the right configuration you can get over 3 and even 4 hours of screen time easily. Oh, and I can't seem to get any scratches on it. Impressive since I don't use a case or any kind of screen protection and carry it around in my pocket all day. Only downside: fingerprints!
I like it's design and build quality. Even though it's all plastic, it neither feels nor looks (too) cheap. More important: all the buttons are in the right place for me. The ridged back provides some extra grip and looks quite OK (from a distance ) and so does the fake metal finish on the sides. It has to be the best fake metal in the business because it's still intact after dropping on my bathroom floor twice.
My biggest issue with this phone (besides being ignored by LG) has to be the sound quality. The silly speaker on the back is nearly useless when the phone is laying down. Picking it up doesn't improve anything.
I can't really comment on this phone's gaming capabilities. I don't really use my phone for that, sorry.
The only alternative I would consider in your position would be the Nexus 4. You should be able to pick it up for a fair price once Google releases the Nexus 5.

The main reason I went for this device was due to price. If price wouldn't matter, then the Galaxy S3 is a better device IMHO. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my device, but since I am using custom ROM's to have JB 4.2.2 there are some things you need to accept if you use custom ROM's (LG has not had the decency to release a JB 4.2.2 ROM
1- Camera: 3rd party cameras using flash and auto focus have issues on custom ROM's not based on stock.
2- BT can be temperamental if you are on custom ROM's
3- The f****** wakelocks that just came out of nowhere on my device are driving me nuts and killing my battery
4- Gaming is a mixed bag depending on the game.
5- External storage can be problematic if for example you are on a custom ROM and try to sync 2000+ songs (17GB's) with Media Monkey.
6- Audio: This really pisses me off... I listen A LOT to music on my devices, and I use different types of good headphones like AKG 450's or some Senheissers PX-200's and the audio chipset on this thing is pathetic, read the review about it on PhonesArena. Even more frustrating is the fact that with the AKG 450's, every time I connect the headphones, the line gets a permanent noise that was not there before. I tested the headphones extensively to make sure they were no broken, and they are fine on all other type of devices except my P880.
On a positive side, it is smooth on most of the ROM's I tried, I like how it looks, it's quite sturdy, GPS works like a charm (after a few tweaks of course); the speaker is ok, the camera when it works is ok; the community is good; the specs are good; All the good ROM's and stuff is relatively recent since it took a while for the bootloader to unlocked and not that many devs were on board. It looks way better than the SGS3 which BTW also have a TON of issues, which is why I went for the P880. Overall, the issues I listed will be sorted by the great devs that have this device, but LG is not doing itself any favours by not releasing updates more often.
So, yes, I do love it, but I will definitely update in less than 2 years to another device. No more LG for me, thank you very much until they learn to support their devices or I would just get a Nexus device.

lol this is disaster mine is just fine. the real disadvantage of this phone is only the low bitrate and framerate of the camera , but thats just how the lg made it. we cant change the hardware. besides that my phone works fine
So you are saying that:
- 3rd party cameras with autofocus and flash are working fine using a custom ROM as in CM based ROM? Which one please? so I can try it.
- No wakelocks at all? What kernel are you using and how do you use your phone? Gaming?, Internet (WIFI/3G) on all the time? FB/Tweeter/G+ on with auto updates all the time?
- Connecting to a car's BT to stream music works ALL the time?
- You can syncronize more than 10GB's in one go to the external microSD with no issues ALL the time?
You must be using either a stock ROM or one based on a stock ROM.
I also am thinking about buying this phone...
I own a Desire HD and i think that it would be a huge upgrade anyways.
The battery is not a problem i think:
1)U can root and install custom roms and it would be better as almost every phone
2)It's removable so you can always get a extended one
What i would like to ask you and have your opinion guys is it would be a bit wiser to get the L9 II instead of this one
