Running stock gingerbread xwjp9 with overcome 4.0.0 kernel. I am running setcpu and have tried up to 1200 undervolted by -75. Everything is stable works well except video.
Some streaming apps fail and cause a reset. Also now starting to fail on running normaql avi's, mkv,s etc.
I have tried different governers and different video players, but it runs for about 5-15 mins then bombs.
Any ideas?
cheers
I think u have set up correctly the voltages of your version, or perhaps you need to update the kernel, is better and simply that way. search if your kernel is compatibly with your galaxy tab.
because the voltages of the overclocking are not correctly your galaxy tab dont work property and when u see multimedia files they top the mhz and they reset for support, and make dont up more the temperature of the core and make safe way. is like a computer when the temperature of the cpu is to high they reset for warning.
Try to found a better kernel, because the kernel make the paremters of the function of the o/c, try to found one in humberos.com.br and for your correctly firmware version
ii hope i help u. y have the same problem in the galaxy tab p1000n and they fix them in that way

I saw that they have SetCPU working with the Hummingbird in the Nexus S; I was wondering if this means there is a possibility that SetCPU overclock support may be coming for the Captivate as well?
it must be supported by kernel...
It already works?? But most of us use voltage control and you have to flash the right kernel
Sent from my SGH-I897 using XDA App
All the OC-supporting kernels I saw said not to use SetCPU...
Thread moved to Q&A.
Only person that would know that answer for sure would be supercurio as he's doing the kernel for both the i9000 and the Captivate.
I'd suggest going to his i9000 thread or checking his twitter to find out.
set cpu works but is not recomended with i9000 kernels though i dont know why. on the threads for unhelpfuls kernels there was talk about it messing up the interneal clock causing the time on texts to be off but that happened to me with the stock kernel and no use of set cpu when using set cpu the problem was no better or worse, therewas also non specific talk of it not playing nice with our phones.
i havent tried it on an i9000 kernel because there is no use for it. the voltage control app is capable of setting the max clock speed. set cpu could still be used for profiles i guess but i never saw the need for a profile, if you are running such a fine line that stability is effected by heat and charging status you might want a little less overclock. over/under clocking has very little effect on battery life do to cpu scaling. under clocking just makes it take longer to get tasks done keeping the cpu from sleeping, really not as big an effect on battery life as you'd expect. so that leaves you with the governor settings which our kernels dont support very well, you can try different kernels with different governor settings built in. perhaps the aosp kernels do better. i dont know becasue there are too many problems with cyanogen mod and the gingerbread port right now.
As mentioned it has worked for some time. But we've been recommended not to use it. I'd love to know why just out of curiousity.
Noticed something interesting.
Using os monitor app, it tells me that this new rom uses on demand by default. Previous i9000 roms seemed to react badly to this setting and only really worked well with conservative mode.
Could someone enlighten me as to what this means comparing older roms set to conservative with jvk?
Stock XXJVK, Voodoo GB hack Kernel, JVE GB Modem
my phone seems locked, stay in certain low speed cpu clock when it is become laggy worse than ever!
i've done so many things to revert back since before this i've used setCPU, Reflash ROM, deleting cache, factory reset, etc
i dunno what to do now coz scrolling anything, picking up apps, messanging, etc become sooooooooo slowwww
any idea?
have you got lagfix enabled ?
and what kernel do you use. have you been overclocking or undervolting ??
and finally what ROM do you use

lagfix or without lagfix still the same
im using cf-root v3.1 and i forgot what my minimum setting in SetCPU and max is 1000mHz, after that i uninstall it (is it ok?) since i dont see any different in it
im using stock JVB and before that happened, i charge my phone all night, and then in the morning, its working so slooowww except sometimes, when to unlock the phone, it behave like normal then in sudden goes slow back
is it behave like that if my touchscreen not working? so many hypothesis here in my head..
Hello guys ,
I had recently serviced my SGS due to a charging issue , now it's working all fine on ICS CM9 B16+Semaphore but this issue is bugging me, i can't OC my Processor beyond 1140 mark that was available in semaphore script manager & even i can't change my ARM,INT voltages in NStools.......!
Maybe they had switched the Mobo or the whole SoC chip but still all my photos and videos were untouched...
Anyways if i try to change these my phone freezes and reboots .
Any ideas ??
Can you try underclocking?
If you can't set your clock to anything but the stock speed, then there maybe some issue with rooting or some system issue.
If the issue is just a matter of not being able to get beyond 1140, it maybe a case wherein the hardware can't go beyond that. Not all processors are built equal.
just my 2 cents
have you tried changing your kernel?

yea, maybe they had snapped in a new Cpu which can't go beyond 1140Mhz..!
this is sad...
thnkya anyways..!

Well,I'll try Glitch but if still the problem persists then it's sure that the new cpu is a crap.

Hi Ashtrix,
your currently installed Rom, Kernel and Tools are not 100% compatibel.
NS-Tools didn't work for Semaphore Kernel.
Use the Semaphore 0.74 apk to optimize the kernel.
Update your Semaphore-Kernel, the newest Semaphore-Kernel support OC 1200.
But give an CNA Rom and a Semaphore-Kernel a chance.
That is IMHO the best combination for your SGS.
But .....
with an CNA-Rom and a Semaphore-Kernel there is no need to OC

What is the best compromise speed stability?
Hello all,
so in the effort to make my O4X last like a normal smartphone when not in use iv'e rooted it,unlocked the b/l and flashed custom kerenal.
i did managed to go from an avg. -10%/hr battery drain to 5%/hr but still even if i dont use the phone it will go down alot.
i've tried setcpu, trickster,no frills cpu and none of them could really keep the cpu in the freq. i want. it shos sucess in appling the values but then it jumps below and above the value's iv'e set.
what can be done?
thank you
Have you tried no-frills cpu setting to prevent system for making changes to the cpu frequences?
Yes.. Still not sticking and ignore the freq. I set
@genia.m which kernel are you using ?
Currently I'm on the latest Werewolfjb.
It happened with stock kerenal too..
Might be the rom's fault?
Well it can be, I believe it is the kernel but still, try to change your rom to one which has been reported to not having the baseband wakelock and similar wakelocks . It is the Nvidia Tegra 3 which overrides the definitions and sets them to default. It used to happen with me in stock and on cm too, but I changed to another stock rom , a modified one, and is working like a charm, no stupid wakes.
Try and post the result if you want !
