sorry you lost me with that one??

Flash a firmware via Odin > CWM > STOCK CM7/MIUI (Very important) > Miui ICS
Going from sammy to ICS will not work, make sure you flash a CM7 stock or MIUI stock build.
Also when installing CM7/miui from sammy rom if you get bootloop tap battery out and redo it, problem when updating CWM

I had the same issue.
I flashed stock GB ROM via ODIN, then flashed kernel with CF-ROOT.
In recovery I installed vanilla MIUI, then restored my nandroid backup, but I won't install BETA4/5 until it gets fixed.

on the last pages of the thread is a "zimage" flash this via odin and you have ur recovery back -
i've got a problem with sim-card reading. went back to beta4.

[Q] E : signature verification failed ClockWorkMod

Hello,
I am using Rooted ICS Stock with Stock Kernel and when i am trying to enter in to recovery mode with RomManager i am getting:
E : signature verification failed ClockWorkMod
is there any way to fix this without increasing flashing count or getting yellow triangle.
PS: I dont have CMW, i am using CMW.zip which is used in Rooting ICS
are you using the CWM app ?
Do you have CWM installed ?
Coz you cant boot into CWM recovery if you dont have it installed
i dont have CMW, i use CMW.zip which is used to root ICS
oh now i see, you are flashing the cwm.zip in stock recovery !!
If it fails, Its probably a bad download, It happens re download it and try again, then report back
it does not fails while i flash the CMW.zip but it fails when i try to backup my room with rommanager...
dont back up with rom manager, use the built in backup option in CWM
you mean
-going to stock recovery mode
-selecting CMW.zip
-and then using backup Rom option???
if you flashed cwm.zip and it flashed successfully then reboot
reboot back into recovery and you should be in CWM, Go to backup / Restore, Then select backup to internal sd card
Hello Sir
ok, but is there any option to use it with rommanager??? because cmw.zip is not safe
CWM is safe, its the stock ICS kernel that isnt,
The issue with the ICS kernel is the wipe data / factory reset option DO NOT USE IT and you will be fine,
You may prefer to flash a safe kernel, Something like speedmod, which is safe and will root your device and install cwm too !
just flash it in ODIN
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/69014495/speedmod-kernel-n7000-ics-k3-3-Odin.tar
will it increas flashing count or give yellow triangle???
it CAN do, but if it does dont worry, Just use Chainfire's triangle away app, its free on XDA and it takes 5 seconds to remove it
To use CWM for backup function you need to have permanent CWM, for that you need Cf root kernel.
I am stuck in recovery mode and trying to reboot a recovery rom from my sd card and i keep getting a e-failed verification siganture..can anybody help me?

Partial Brick, Need Help Moving from ICS Build Please

If a pro could help me out I would appreciate it very much. I have been trying to move from a dangerous ICS build to JB and I am having this same problem.
My N7000 previously had this on it:
android 4.03
radio 19220zclp6
kernal version 3.0.15-i9220zclp1-cl131270 (bad ics kernal)
build number midnote 2.0 iml74k.zclp1
So I used ODIN to flash it to a GB rom but I got the com.android.process error and my phone would lock up.
So then I found this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1424997 and flashed this ROM "N7000UBLR3 N7000UVOLR1 - Download - Argentina" from the bottom of the page. I then wiped only the the cache (not the entire phone reset because I had forgot some data on the phone) and flashed it again but I still get the process error and phone locking up. I don't even know if this ROM is a safe ROM!!
Am I even on a safe kernal now? kernal n7000ublr3-cl890184 build imm76d.ublr3
What I need help doing is the following.
1. Before doing a full wipe, I need to either manually save my contacts to my PC or back them up. (no apps work but my pc can browse my phone) If I knew where my contacts were located, maybe I can manually copy them to my pc? So any help saving data from a partially unusable phone would help.
2. Flash to a safe GB rom, so I can then do the full wipes safely and then flash to a stable JB rom. (I have no clue which roms to choose here and need to be spoonfed the exact GB and JB roms to use. I think I prefer a CM10 JB rom.
Thanks for any help..
the rom you have flashed the last is an ics rom and its unsafe
go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1901191 and download the PhilZ-cwm6-UBLR3-PSN-v2.7 and put it in internal or eternal sd.
then boot into recovery and install zip from sd and point to the kernel you downloaded.
after this reboot and boot into recovery again. this time you should see CWM recovery
do a backup of your rom...... backup & restore > backup
after it completes do a factory wipe, dalvik wipe and cache wipe.
check if the phone boot normally

Thanks, I will try it. So when you do a backup of a ROM, after flashing to a new ROM if you then do a restore, does it reinstall all your android apps on the new kernel or do you always need to reinstall your apps when you upgrade ROMS?
the phone becomes as it was when you did the backup. hopefully it will start.. but if it doesnt then you can manually extract the contacts using TB or from the nandroid backup folder
data.ext4.tar\data\data\com.android.providers.contacts\databases\
---------- Post added at 01:27 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:23 AM ----------
on the other note.. instead of doing a whole restore.. try advance restore of just the data part

The data backup restored the com.android.process error and phone locking problem so I just used that new CWM to flash and it boots fine now. The problem I get now is "null" every time I try to type on the keyboard. Resetting and rewiping everything and then reflashing the kernel doesn't seem to fix the "null" problem.
Anyone know how to fix null in the samsung keyboard?
EDIT: What full ROM file do I need to use so I can flash CSC via Odin? I think this will fix my null problem. Then I will reflash PhilZ via CWM.
the same rom you are on. tar.md5 . put that in the csc tab. but this will wipe data again,

[Q] URGENT HELP PLEASE: Phone Not Starting With Any ROM

Hi Guys!
I tried flashing my Galaxy Note GT-N7000 with Rocket Rom, but before installing, I found a difference between my phone & the sample video.
The Data Wipe/ Factory Reset took ages and eventually, my phone just restarted. That's not usual for a Factory Reset. I still proceeded back to Recovery and completed the other steps - Clear Cache Partition, Dalvik Cache, Format System, Format Preload, and these were all fine.
So I proceeded to install the ROM, but after installation it got stuck at the boot logo screen. I looked it up and saw the best solution to go back to Stock GB Rom. Since I'm in India, and bought my phone in November 2011, I went for: N7000XXKK3_N7000ODDKK1_INU.
But after flashing this rom also, the phone isn't starting. I'm able to get in and out of recovery and download mode easily. I've also tried flashing other kernels - Hydracore v4.3, SpeedMod etc., but none of it makes a difference. Wipe Data still takes ages and eventually just restarts the phone. Phone doesn't turn on past the boot logo.
PLEASE HELP.
The first time you wiped data/cache/Dalvik did you have stock ICS kernel on your device?
And if you are able to complete de the flash with Odin.. Flash the gb rom and then go to recovery.. And wipe/format everything from stock gb recovery then reboot
Tapatalking on my n7000
yeah.. what happens when on GB , stock recovery and you do a wipe data / factory reset ?
edit: why would Hydracore (an ICS kernel) work with GB? you need a GB kernel or the phone won't boot.
if you can get into download or recovery mode you are okay.
it doesn't even matter if you can't wipe anything and have to flash the ROM 'dirty'
flash GB rooted stock via odin, install CWM, three wipes, and go back to wherever you want.
don't bother worrying about your CSC code, as if you are on a stock ROM you will be unable to update (for good reason)
you can always flash back to another ROM with your CSC of choice if you want to go back to stock for later.
also, if you are having issues wiping maybe try flashing a no-wipe rooted stock GB rom. there is one or two on the appropriate thread.

you factory reset the phone. only ICS (and possibly JB) have the MMC_CAP_ERASE bug
Hey Guys
I tried installing Stock GB ROM again, but when I try and do the wipe via CWM, it still doesn't complete. I try turning on the phone and that won't work either.
I'm really confused and worried. Have I superbricked my device? I'm still able to get in to Recovery & Download so that gives me hope.
Please let me know. Is there any way out? I heard from someone that my motherboard may need to be replaced.
Many thanks in advance.

did you do the wipes on unsafe ics kernel? Or on unknown to be safe JB kernel?
If on unsafe kernel likehood brick very high...
If on safe kernel and superbrick, then the kernel needs to be reported.
So you are on GB. Do a factory reset, then wipe cache. Still no boot, flash cf gb kernel, or speedmod and format mounts, all(not efs) (take out external sd before) you will loose all data.
then you have clean condition. Flash gb throught pc again.

[Q] I9000 black screen when booting

So this is my problem.
I have a a i9000 with Gingerbread on it, baseband xxjvt. I root the phone, boot into clockworkmod recovery, do wipe data, delete partition cache, select rom from sd card to install, the install start, appear samsung logo, logo of the mod then it goes to black screen. After a while (5-10 minutes), after pressing the on/off button, the rom starts and it works fine. I´ve tried this with Cyanogenmod 10.1 (jellyBean 4.2.2) and Remics rom. After that, when I turn on the phone when it´s shut down, samsung logo and cyanogenmod logo appear and again black screen without beeing able to see the boot animation. After a minute, the phone starts. And another problem is that I can´t boot in clockworkmod recovery at all, only black screen after these 2 logos.
I hope someone has understanded my problem and will be able to help. Thanks in advance....
flash again after formating system in recovery

So, I´ve done the following :
-flashed with Odin the stock ROM from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1583026
-flashed in download mode with this http://download.chainfire.eu/127/CF-Root/SGS/CF-Root-XX_OXA_JVT-v4.3-CWM3RFS.zip
-entered recovery mode (3.0 was I think)
-wipe data/ factory reset
-wipe cache partition
-under advanced wipe dalvik cache.....This appeared selecting wipe : E: unknown volume for path (/sd-ext)
-under mounts and unmounts i´ve selected format /system
-select zip from sd card ... I´ve tried to install Remics v5 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2075058
-at checking device id...phone restarts, show Samsung logo with the phone model, it show Macay logo, then black screen and that it stays....The back and home buttons light up when pressed. I can only go to download mode, no recovery mode, just black screen and i can shut down by holding the power button.
I´ve tried flashing the same way CyanogenMod 9 and 10.1. Even it´s black screen, it seems that this 2 instal, cause after a few minutes of wait i log press the power button to shut down, the power on and after a time of black screen it goes on the android. And recovery mode don´t work in this cases.
What to do?

1.-I always flash via odin, repartition, pit "I9000XXJVU_I9000OXAJVU_OXA"
2.-Setings, aplications, usb debug
3.- CF-Root-XX_OXA_JVU_2.3.6-v4.3-CWM3RFS via odin
4. Try flashing last 10.1 after wipes:cacke and dalw (no format system)
5. Then wipes and format system
6. rom
or
direct rom, flashing two times if first only do partition layout (stop in bootanimation), Battery out after first flash, recovery, wipes and flash again

I´ve done all of this and follwed the instructions from thread above by letters. After flashing CM 10.1, after a couple of second, I get black screen, the ROM seems to install. It´s boot up with no boot animations and it´s starts. Only CM 10.1 boot, other rom don´t finish installing. And in CM 10.1, I dont have recovery, even if I install CWM again. From the time I power on the phone till it´s in Android it´s only black screen...
Help....

i9305 Bootloop & Strange Issue - Help Required

Edit: My problem has been solved, I tried to flash recovery again through odin but still issue was there.. then I download stock firmware from sammobile and then flashed the same through odin... and wolaaa... phone rebooted and issue is fixed now.. thanks @Pheoxy for your guidence...
Hi All,
I am having serious problem with my S3 i9305. I was using Amcha ROM version 2.20 yesterday my battery was dead and phone went powered off while I was sleeping, when I woke up I tried charging it but it turns on and stucked on bool logo I accessed recovery mode and tried to wipe cache and dalvik cache, but the issue is when I select wipe dalvik cache and then phone restarted it self and than stuck again on bootloop.. further when I tried to do factory reset through recovery than phone again restarted and then stuck again on boot logo..
I also tried flashing Amcha 3.0 version by putting it on external SD card and through recovery when I selected flash zip than AROMA started and then suddenly while installing ROM phone again restarted and then as usual stucked on bootloop.
please suggest me the way forward, phone is just working fine.. and then......this issue.. Please help as I am in serious issue...
Partitions might be buggered some how. Use Odin to flash recovery again to make sure and then flash stock ROM before android 4.3.
Do a wipe like you would switching Roms and restore backup if you can or flash whatever.
