I want it too but votes are more important.

Thanks to Andy TANG for donation! v4 is today.

According to votes , it will be ICS keyboard.

Why not swype 3 beta?

add BOTH
so i can use stock keyboard and another person using ICS keyboard without problems

ICS Keyboard is the good one

i prefer ICS keyboard instead of stock keyboard, can add the swype keyboard if possible.

None of those?
Swype all the way dude.
This is a no brainer, really. You don't really lose anything from any stock keyboard by using swype. Screen peckers can carry on pecking at their screens and swypers can carry on with swyping happiness.
Swype even has great auto correct (same if not best than stock keyboards) and word suggestion to whoever dislikes swyping.

I realized his rom relies heavily on cutting off stuff that waste ram. I remembered he could be leaving swype out because of that. So i went in and tested.
Swype is using 16Mb of ram
ICS keyboard from onecosmic is using 15Mb.
Granted, one can still argue it's more 1Mb and every single one of them count. While that's true, 1 extra Mb is a great tradeoff for swype goodness imo
Now, i'm not sure if the system itself really needs some stock keyboard to be available even if not used by the user. I remember reading that somewhere but i'm not even sure if it was related to anything SGS.

Modded HTC IME keyboard

i had this keyboard on 2.1 but kinda forgot about when i went to 2.2. its a nice keyboard and im sure some of you already have it but for those who dont, im attaching the 2 apk's for this. one is the keyboard and one is the calibrator. you can push these to data/app or just copy to sd card and install with root explorer, astro, etc. install the keyboard first, then the calibrator tool.

this is awesome!! i first saw this keyboard on the vibrant hybrid rom and i loved it! so i kept reading on how to install but still not sure how lol. can u explain to a newb on how to do this?? and this works excellent with no bugs??? thanks for the help!
Yay! Confirmed haptic feedback that works! Just don't understand why this one works and the aosp keyboard doesn't

Thanks works great
Thank you so much for this. I've been using the stock 2.2 Android keyboard and it had some small annoyances this eliminates. Thanks again!

I was doing some more forum lurking, trying to figure out what makes this keyboard vibrate on keypress unlike it's AOSP counterpart, and I came across this: http://www.gimpsta.com/themer/
Let's you custom theme your HTC_IME keyboard anyway you want. I just cloned the Cyanogen mod keyboard cause it was all black with a fairly dark lettering color so it doesn't light up my face at night causing temporary blindness. I had to make a custom space bar image cause I didn't want the one used in the preset one. I attached the .apk to this post.
Edit: Attached are some screenshots.
Does multitouch work? The HTC_IME I'm using on Froyo has bad multitouch so letters are often left behind, even if multitouch works it sucks. Is this any better?
I don't know if its just a case of the grass being greener oan the other side but I don't understand the desire to add this key board. I find the samsung keyboard to be supoirior to this. With a few quirks. And the droid x to be slightly better but over rated. I find it easiest to type on the Samsung multi touch. But the lack of caps lock is annoying. Maybe that will be fixed in the official froyo. I use swype when I hold the phone with one hand but typing with both hands I need a proper multi touch.

I am trying to use Astro File Manager to open HTC_IME_hi22.apk and it says "Could not open /sdcard/HTC_IME_hi22.apk as APK file.
I am rooted, and used rafter109's OCD De-Cripple function to enable sideloading.
Any help would be appreciated.

More of a preference. I got used to the HTC keyboard and it's quirks and how it works, and I like it. The Samsung keyboard is good, and the Android one is downright annoying at times, but this one I LOVE.

Yeah I'm addicted to swype but hate their "sell it as hardware" business model and makes me really wish something better would come along because I will not buy a specific phone for swype because anything I pick won't get it, N1, G2 or the upcoming NS. Just sell the **** in market, even if it's $20, I'd rather pay the $20 to load it on whatever Android device I choose. It's all good for me being in the beta but I know it sucks for the rest of the world.
it only works fine for the first few days.
Now it sucks again ... just the same as September beta. Still can't delete words scraped from your address book, if you have 3K contacts with every name the world has ever known in every language, that sux.
For those wishing to get on the Swype Beta list the URL is https://beta.swype.com/android/create/.
I signed up when the registration period had ended and was able to get it some time in January. Hope this helps someone.

Gingerbread keyboard for DHD - 3-01-2011 update.

You can run a new keyboard a few simple steps:
1: Go to the Settings -> Language and Keyboard -> Keyboard for Android and mark this.
2: We go to the Message -> Compose message -> touch and keep your finger on the text entry field for about 3 seconds and release, you should see a window with the ability to change input methods. Click on the input method and select Keyboard Android.
I was looking for long time working keyboard on my DHD with 1.72 update so I decided to put the QR Code for market. This keyboard work fine on my DHD.

only one problem.. the keys are tiny.. i read something somewhere about adjusting the pixel density to cure this, and that this cure wouldnt survive a reboot.. would that still be applicable here? (that gingerbread keyboard wouldnt work an sense roms) and if so how exactly could that be done?
Keyboard very beautiful, also if very small
Thanks, fun to try. A little bit small buttons, and a waste of time in Norwegian
In market is now available the latest version. You can change the skin, but is still a little too small...

For me keyboard with broken, too small keys is the best option. Desire HD has so big screen that normal keyboard is to big to write fast. So I was very happy that keyboard from this thread is so small. I can now write faster and keyboard is not taking half of the screen.
So... I, personally, prefer to not update keyboard via market.
Maybe it is possible to add option to choose size of the keyboard?
Second question: is it possible to add Polish dictionary?

thank you SO much, been looking forward to this keyboard for quite a bit now.. hate the frecking sense keyboard
Ok after using the keyboard for a while.. it tends to lag a bit with vibration on. The vibration happens a little delayed sometimes. I'm talking about the one in the market btw, not the one posted by op.

[App] Hacker's Keyboard by kwx

If you're interested in a different approach, try my just-released Hacker's Keyboard and let me know what you think. I've tried to stay as close as possible to a standard PC layout, it has 5 rows including numbers and punctuation in the usual places, plus Esc/Ctrl/Alt for ConnectBot. It's based on the Gingerbread keyboard, so it has multitouch support and voice input.

Can you give me more detail how it's showing as unavailable? Is that in the Market web interface, or the Market application? I've just confirmed that it updated to v1.10 normally on my Xoom using the Market app.
What's your system language set to? I was changing localization settings and removing not-really-supported languages in the v1.9 update, but according to the documentation that shouldn't affect eligibility to install it.
Holy crap. This is exactly what I am looking for... and open source no less! Do you accept donations?

+1.
I can't be sure if it'd be even better, but I'm inclined to think the leftmost keys would be even more comfortable in the following order from top to bottom:
ESC
~
TAB
SHIFT
CTRL
Or maybe even switch ESC and ~ for more spacing on the more frequently used esc key:
~
ESC
TAB
SHIFT
CTRL
Looks good, any chance of a UK style version or option so we have £ sign there and @ swapped with " ?

Rolling another green android as we speak.
I am definitely addicted to Android since discovering MIUI.us 2.2.3. Take the best features of IOS, add to it the best features of Android, throw in a liberal dose of nuance, style and flair and you have the perfect ROM.
I never thought i'd be saying this but it really is an order of magnitude better than Cyanogenmod. The infamous Android lag is all but gone! The N1 touchscreen wonks..gone! It's like i died and woke up in smartphone heaven. Most of the apps i used to use i don't need any more. Decent File Browser? Check. Decent Browser? Check. Decent SMS/Dialer/Alarm? Check!
What i don't need in a ROM are a hundred features that i have to turn off because i don't use them. What i do need in a ROM are core features that just work well. Consider me converted!
I seriously wouldn't trade my two year old phone for anything on the market right now, not even if it were free. Not a chance!
Wich phone you own?

Yeah you're right, but i just don't like it in the same way i don't like Sense. It's just too much
I'm hooked on IceCremeSandwich's with no-sense!
pure curiosity
first, i have the android phone, then switch to iOS then at now, android again feeling to be more comfy with android (though iOS still rocks on perf and display)
but guess, loving now android coz to put my dev-inside
MIUI.us is working out so well for me. I have apps that never worked well on CM7 that are working perfectly now. The famous N1 touchscreen wonk has disappeared completely, (which is a miracle in itself), and not only are the stock apps better than AOSP, (Gallery, you know i'm talking about you), but they're better than the usual replacements. (Sorry, Quickpic).
A big plus is a beautiful U.I that is consistent throughout the software and on par with IOS. It's like somebody read my mind and made a bespoke ROM for me! It's all the little touches too. The nice animations, the way the music fades out when you pause it, (not to mention Lyrics support and a pretty visualisation), options for re-ordering Bookmarks in the Browser, a good Notes app, in built backup for apps, system and theme. It's incredibly fast and smooth too. Without the OC i had in CM7 it actually performs better!
Pics for the uninitiated:
How about a stock Data usage app, or a Firewall:
How good is that?
I love my android phone...
Still my first (galaxy mini), but i hope my next one will be better...
