Same here, I was going to ask the same question....

If you long press then and go to details you'll see that they are doing different things. Just deceiving since they show up as same app

Way to freeze apps without root?

I need to freeze some of this VZW bloatware. My Droid 3 is dog slow when I am trying to take pictures and move around the phone. The memory is being sucked up by apps such as VZW Navigator... even when I never launch it.
You could add them to the task manager "auto end list" so they shutdown 2 mins after starting.

[Question] Some games run in the background at boot? How to disable them from booting

So apps such as; MP3 Music Download, Pulse, some games etc. They always seem to pop up in my task manager, even though I don't run them. Is there any way to stop them from running in the background and ONLY run when I actually open them?
*Note, they are not widgets, and I have disabled push notifications in the app."
Use autostarts or the autorun function in Gemini app manager!(both require root)

Can you help me, like tell me what I should tick to make it so IT doesn't auto run when I don't want it to? Such as booting, and not even opening the app.

Also try to remember that just because they show up in your task manager, doesn't mean they're actively using RAM.

Can't open links in sms application?

Got a bit of an odd one for you guys. My girlfriends phone has exactly the same set up as me (phone rom kernel) but I have no issues at all. No matter what I do I cant open links from within her messages app (phone numbers / web addresses ect ) If I use a third party app like handscent it works fine but tbh I would much prefer the stock app. I have tried fresh installs, updates clearing data ect but no luck. Just about to try a completely different rom with a modded messaging app to see if it works. Any ideas?
Ended up just using a 3rd party sms application as it seems I am the only one with this issue. No issues after go sms install

Delay in opening of Phone and Contacts

I'm running stock ics 4.0.3 rooted with GL Notecore Kernel v 3.15.
i'm getting a lag in opening the dialer and contacts. Is there any way this can be corrected ? Please help.
Have u tried to clear contacts data or cache from settings.. applications...contacts. ?
U may also try another dialer other than stock dialer and contacts as Go Contacts, this may solve all of ur problems..

same here...I've just learned to live with it.
There must be some way to speed up the process. can't we odex the two applications alone for better performance ?
Edit : Can someone who can work with the file-system odex phone and contacts .apk based on this and repost the files.
Actually on my friends sgs2 its opens very quickly

Exactly, but with the note running better specs, it must open faster. I don't know what's wrong in here. Hope this thread finds a solution.
Can someone turn the spot light in here. please.
Help wanted. Some dev please help.

I'm no dev but it's common for the contacts or phone application to open with a 1 or 2 seconds delay if they are started for the first time. Every succeding start is considerably faster. Do you use a task killer? Next time you want to open the contacts or phone application take a look at a task manager whether the corresponding apps are already running in the background or at least cached. If they are they should open almost immediately. If they are not what you described is absolutely normal.

Hi guys,
I was experiencing the same problem so I tried some other apps and I found one that in my opinion is the best - exDialer (it's free)
It opens very fast, has all functionallity of the stock dialer, and has also skinning capabilities, which I set to ICS (blue fonts on black background).
Give it a try - I hope it helps you!
I tried it. But then having two applications to perform the same task becomes useless ri8. Just one doubt, why a powerful device with 1.4Ghz process. A full gig if Ram take so long to process a simple app and that too a system app.?

I don't know the reason of the lag - but it is there and is really annoying. I had exactly the same thought as you - but I think this is related to TouchWiz UI.
Regarding having two apps for the same task is no problem to me - I just defined the exDialer as default and the stock dialer never comes up again.
And for me is common to have more than one app for the same task - I have 3 browsers, 3 e-book readers, 2 RSS organizers, 2 file browsers, and so on.
What I do is to try many different apps and eventually I find the ones that best suit my needs and then uninstall the others.

Does the stock s3 contact app open faster? If yes we can use that.

I had the same problem, while on Criskelo rom. I've gone to 4.0.4 , rooted and speedmod 3-6 kernel , and now I dont have this issue anymore. However, I belive that if you close your dialer, or contacts by using the back key, instead of Home key, you will always have this "lag". You should close your contacts and phone app , by pressing the home key.

Super user stops working

I've waiting to see if anyone else is having this issue before posting but haven't seen it. I've been having this problem since I got the 6 and rooted ect, even on stock Rom. After some time, a day or less, when a new app prompts su for permission, I can't select allow. Also I can not longer side load an app. When it shows cancel or install, I can't select install, only cancel. Weirdest thing. I'm on my 3rd Rom, and it just started.
