Alltel HTC Hero PSFreedom Question

Hello,
I have a few questions regarding PSFreedom with my HTC Hero. I am currently running my stock 2.1 firmware and I have tried a few methods to jailbreak my PS3 with both of them failing.
I was just curious if this could be due to the fact that for some reason my computer doesn't recognize my computer as a disk drive, even though it is set to that in the "Connect to PC" settings and I don't get the notification. I know for a fact it's not any conflict with my USB ports because this randomly started happening and instead of messing with it I just decided to do a quick reformat and reinstall of Win 7 so I believe that there's something wrong with my phone... but I'm not entirely sure...
Also, could this problem lie within my cable? It worked just fine and dandy for quite awhile and then I started to have problems with it while I was using CM6 so I restored my NAND backup to the Alltel 2.1 and the problem still continues.. and I just realized that my cable is a little ripped at the end of the USB male connector side but it doesn't look like any wires inside are ripped.. and I can also run commands from Android SDK just fine as that's one of the methods I used for the Jailbreak.
If somebody could help me I would really appreciate it.. and sorry for droning on I just spent the past few hours trying to figure this out and I'm a little tired of sitting in front of the comp lol.
Thanks,
Xombie
If you're having trouble getting your computer to recognize your phone properly then it's likely that the PS3 isn't seeing it correctly either. I'd say check the US cable but the fact that you still have ADB is strainge.

[Q] i9000 Slow USB Connection

I've found that anytime I use an i9000 ROM I have a painfully slow USB connection relative to what I get with a Captivate ROM.
I tried a quick search but nothing came up for me. It's almost as if with i9000 it defaults to USB 1.0.
Wondering if I should try installing Kies drivers or soemthing.... I dunno... hoping somebody came up with a solution already...
Pretty important cause for those that flash often don't want to spend 8 hours transferring music back to the internal SD drive.
USB 1.0?? :S
I think a have a similar problem. Each time I connect my Galaxy S on my computer it shows the message that my device can perform faster...as if my Galaxy is running with USB 1.0.
I've used to different cables, different USB ports...and nothing happens.
Using the same USB cable, with another device, it do not shows the same message so I'm thinking it might be a problem with my Galaxy S or with the USB drivers that I’m using.
I had been using KIES but has the same problem...tried to install the driver aside KIES and the same result...I did a little research and it seems that I’m the only one with this problem...
I appreciate any help

[Q] USB Doesn't Recognize with all drivers and method.

Hello,
I am newbie here.
I have my captivate since January. I like the device itself very much.
However, I wasn't able to update the firmware to Froyo or Gingerbread at all due to a lot of difficulties that I faced.
My phone is ROOT(just to confirm, I have 'superuser' app - does that mean my phone is ROOT?).
I used to have laptop with linux 10.04, and believe or not it was so difficult to ROOT my phone.
However, I have Win7 64bit Professional currently.
And trying to upgrade to Gingerbread. (My phone is 2.1 firmware as of now.)
The problem that I'm facing is that my phone won't recognize at all when I plug into USB ports.
These are what I've tried so far,
(on both USB debugging mode & mass storage mode)
- Yes, I tried several different ports as of suggestions from other post.
- I tried to install & re-install drivers. (I tried SGH-i897_Captivate_USB_Drivers_5_02_0_2.zip driver & Samsung Galaxy S USB Driver for Windows x64)
- I did restart my computer more than 10 times.
- I installed current kies and re-install several times.
- I installed older version of kies 1.xxxx.
- I did delete drivers from device management.
I am really running out with ideas to solve my problem.
I've been researching a lot & can't find any more solutions.
CAN ANYONE HELP???
Thanx!!!
Have you tried a different USB cable? Preferably the one that came with the phone (unless that's the one you're using now, of course)?

The cable that came with the Captivate is known to not work with all computers (my guess is it's some sort of voltage range it doesn't like). There are a few threads on this in this forum.
My suggestion is to get a Motorola cable. Here's why:
My stock Samsung cable that came with my Captivate worked on my old PowerMac G5, but not my brand new iMac. I thought it was an attempt by Apple to deny use of Android phones on their machines.
I tried using a store-bought USB cable by RocketFish. It still didn't work.
Out of desperation, I tried the Motorola cable that came with my wife's Bravo, and the phone connected with no problem.
From your description, it sounds like you could connect on an old computer/OS combo, but not with a new computer/OS combo. So try to get your hands on a Motorola cable (or other third-party cable) and try that.
@ apbthe3 yes, I am already using the cable that came with the phone. Thanx!
@ KreepyKen I did try the cable that I have with on a mac computer and the mac seems like not recognizing either. I'll go to AT&T shop to see if they can try with motorola cable. Thanx!

HP Touchpad and USB port

Hi all,
I have tried many times to use the mini USB of the touchpad to play media from it but of course it didn't work so I tried different cables/adapters and ways to hook up my usb drives and finally find a way around this problem:
I am running CyanogenMod 11 Kitkat 4.4.4 build and no issues so far, fingers crossed
I can't put links as I am new on site so you can access the video demo on youtube following this JTIOoNIJWi0
Hope this is useful to some of you
Peace
Nimo
No offense, but this problem was solved a long time ago.

Yeah, we've known for years that you need to apply power to use OTG. There was a guide showing how to make your own cord a while ago.
And then theres this guy. . .

[Q] Note 3 USB question (Soft Brick Related)

I have been away from XDA for a while, however, I saw a Lollipop update for the Note 3. I went and updated, however, during the process I lost safestrap and the phone is Soft Bricked. It will boot into Stock Recovery and the Samsung logo.
The issue I am having is my USB port isn't being detected. I have re-installed numerous driver packages and tried every cable I own, 10 different cables. I also installed Windows to dual boot on my Mac and tried to see if maybe it was my wife's PC. Nothing is showing up in Odin and it shows as a unrecognized device.
I do recall a year or two ago, their being a cable you could buy that would rectify all of this and I cannot remember it for the life of me.
Anyone have any ideas on what I can try to get the Note 3 booting back like normal before I go and buy a new phone?
Thanks!

I might just be spitballing here, but I've had issues in the past using the USB ports on the front of my pc. Once I discovered that, I always used the ports on the back of the pc without any issues. Just a thought...

Yeah I have tried every USB port on the Mac and PC. I am certain I will have to buy a new phone since the USB isn't being recognized. Also to be noted, I have not been able to mount the Note 3 USB as a Media device to transfer to/from since I bought it used.
