Is there anyone around who knows why we haven't seen any custom kernels out? Is there something preventing them, or just no dev interest? The resound seemingly has dozens. I'm used to the evo and then 3d that were swimming in kernels even before launch day. Just wondering what's up.

I think the lack of source code and developers (we only have 4, although quality ones) are the main reasons why we don't have multiple kernels available. So far we only have Sense 3.0 source code and only one unlockable? Kernel from bananacakes.

I personally think the phones performs extremely well without overclockable kernel. It would be nice, but not a deal breaker for me. I think Vivid still trumps skyrocket with its solid feel and more accurate detailed screen. Really though, I'm a huge fan of Sense.
me too, but i would also like to have more control of my device and have the option of multiple roms, i want miui
at this point i regret not getting a skyrock or a pos 4s
All I want is wifi tether to work. I hate having to use sense 3.5 to just have tethering. I prefer 3.0, seems to be better.

For me wifi tethering doesn't work on sense 3.5 ROMs but it does on 3.0.

Oops wrong button.
I am not a fan of HTC sense and the stock look and lack of options of the shipped rom.
I guess where I am going is the battery seems to last longer with Ics and the speed of the phone is better. Running adw the draw is still laggy.
Why do phone companies make phones with heavy bloated roms and call it the fastest phone. Just give us the option to turn it all off.
Does anyone have any gossip on cm9. Considering how far is was taken on the dhd can't wait.

Are all the users getting ICS upgrades or is it like Skyrocket, where limited users got the upgrade
Not to sure. My missus and I have only been on for 6 or so days and we both got it. Seems like everyone. I woonder about the unbranded phones.

Hi, I was thinking of getting a vivid to tide me over for at least a year and was wondering about a few things.
No aosp roms except for synergy working on one and virtuous inquisition being the closest to an aosp feel; am I right?
What's the whole deal with the ril and is there any rom where it is not an issue?
Do the sense 4 roms on here have everything working but the ril?
Just wanted to ask these questions and save a little time not searching.

You are pretty much up to speed, except that there are two close-to-AOSP ROM's to choose from.
Does being stuck on lte have any real issues anyway? I assume if lte isn't present in your area it's only just a battery drainer

Nah it's fine. I live in a LTE zone and I don't notice so much battery drain.

Yes.
RIL is an issue in the AOSP ROM (IIRC) and Sense 4. This is primarily because of LTE being a nuisance.
There are no publically released Sense 4 ROMs, but yes.
Ehh, you should probably search anyway. It's easy, and you risk getting flamed if you don't.

No, not that I know of. I live in a non-LTE area, and I still have no problem getting 2 days out of the phone on the psuedo-AOSP ROMs, and about 1.3 on a Sense ROM. Still better than my Captivate, but worse than the Inspire.
Just wish we could get AOSP tethering
There any way to change the layout of the power bar in the Viper ROM?
(more specifically, disable the wifi tether icon)

Become a dev yourself.
Look, the dev scene is just starting out. The phone hasn't even been out a month. Give it some damn time. There is no point in calling a devs work dumb just because it's missing one feature you would like to have. Especially this early in the game. They do this for free, they get nothing out of releasing their work, so you learn to code and add in the features you want, or suck it the **** up, cupcake.

holy **** bro, chill the eff out, i did dig into it and find what I wanted, if you had read deeper down, you'd realize this.
Oh, and if I feel the need to learn the ins and outs of the application side of an os I can easily replace with linux, maybe i will become an android dev, but for now, i'll work on porting ubuntu to this phone,
Is that okay with you?
One more thing, when someone asks 'is this possible' and someone else says 'no' i take that as 'not yet'. I was basically saying 'that's dumb' to his response, not the fact that the app lacks functionality (which i understand will come in time, i develop bro, for posix based systems)

far from being correct by the way... the 'dev scene' has been around since punch cards and core memory.
What version of Viper are you on? I don't have the WiFi teather in any of my drop downs on 1.1.0. I only see it in my app drawer. It can grab it and place it in the home screens, but as a widget I done see it in any of the power controls or other multi system function toggle bars.
Like you mentioned I can freeze it from TB or simply uninstall it.

Are you talking about EQS? If so, this might work for ViperRom since I believe EQS was ported from Torxx rom. Of course you would use files from viperrom not trickdroid

Can anyone with ROM making knowledge tell me if this will be useful for us, considering we use the CDMA version of the phone?

Hardware is almost exactly the same
Also. Kernel has almost nothing to do with cellular connections, it specifies how the software should interact with the hardware and nothing else
The GPE port and 4.2.2 sense 5 ports are both using kernels made for the international version

So we have to wait for HTC to release 4.2 CDMA radios, or CDMA 4.3 radios, for those roms to work? Like we have the google edition port, but data doesn't work. What do we need to get that fixed?
No we don't have to wait for that. We have all we need to get it working now. Just give it a few mire days.

I am so jelly right now. Well, at least porting it to the CMDA One shouldn't be that difficult if I'm understanding correctly.
Just curious if there's any dev going on for a solid lollipop ROM? Was over in the sensation forum and saw a few lollipop ROMs for that Beastie have been out for a bit. Any chance anyone's working on anything similar for our beloved raiders/vivids/velocities?

Currently wildfiredev is playing around with a lollipop ROM and tinkering with getting it booting on the vivid. Honestly, I'd be happily surprised if it comes to the vivid at all; this is a 4 year old phone, and it was amazing and awesome that someone took the time to get KitKat 4.4.4 working pretty much flawlessly.

Oh I totally agree. I hope I didn't come off as unappreciative at all..am running kitkat myself and love it. If not for all the hard work the devs have done this phone would have been obsolete long ago. Which in a way is sad since the hardware is still able to keep up pretty well against all but the highest end phones on the market now. I was literally just curious. I know the sensation is a similarly-equipped device, so far as hardware goes so I thought there may be a possibility someone's working on it.

Lollipop for HTC Vivid
I would also love a lollipop ROM for HTC Vivid! While searching for one I came across this:
http://www.**********.org/mp3-0/htc-vivid-4302.html
Id would like to see if anyone else can download the files . I cant download them so I am pretty sure that it doesn't work. Are there any other Lollipop ROMs for HTC Vivid yet?
