1.5Ghtz velocity, 1.2Ghtz Vivid? - HTC Vivid, Raider, Velocity

They are both "HTC Holiday" but Am I crazy or are the Velocity and Vivid actually fairly different in technical specs...
The HTC Velocity is advertised as being 1.5, but I see the vivid is 1.2
Are there any other differences like RAM or a change in GPU to go along with the CPU change?
HTC Velocity apparently has - Dual Core 1.5 GHz Scorpion processor, Adreno 220 GPU, Qualcomm MSM8260 Snapdragon chipset
HTC Vivid apparently has - Qualcomm® APQ 8060, 1.2 GHz dual core processor, Qualcomm MDM9200
Maybe they are the same thing and one is overclocked?

they are the same thing, but the vivid is UNDERclocked

I think the scorpion is a better processor.

They are both scorpion. As PG mentioned they are the same hardware wise, just under clocked for a more conservative power consumption.

excellent, thanks for the info gents!

Rumor in Korea

I heared that O3D will use OMAP dual core as its soc
Got any news about this rumor?
Sent from my LG-SU660 using XDA App
True story. It uses the OMAP 4430, which is two ARM A9 cores (like Tegra 2) but with a clocked up PowerVR SGX540. According to Anandtech (Can't post links) it seems to generally outperform Tegra 2, although with the old SGX540 it probably doesn't have any of the advanced features that the ULP GeForce supposedly provides...
Personally I'd rather have the performance.
Which is ??

[Q]Sensation xl's processor

Hello Everyone.
As it is stated in XL's specs. It has a 1,5ghz Scorpion Qualcomm MSM8255 with Adreno 205. However, qualcomm specs are saying that msm8255 is only 1ghz, whereas the msm8255T can reach 1,4-1,5ghz.
So what am I trying to say - Isn't the XL's cpu overclocked by HTC?
Thats a good question
No, the XL uses the MSM8255T. Look up the specs for the HTC Titan and you'll see that it uses the MSM8255T. The specs of the Titan are virtually identical to that of the XL.

The truth is that different pages present different specs. I'd like to get some info from HTC as on htc.com there are no details of the cpu. I cannot make a promise but I'll be trying to call to t HTC and get some official info.

I scouted the Market for a CPU app that might show the CPU model but unfortunately they all only say that the CPU is ARMv7 rev2.
I actually really want to know already

What about the flyer? The flyer is 8255 at 1.5ghz, so its overclocked too?

So I'm after a phone call to the HTC. They presented me the XL's official specifications. And the processor is 8255T
Ehhhh...so it turns out that a lot of websites have wrong specs when it comes to the CPU. The site given by jimbo.levy is the only one which I've seen and which shows that the CPU is 8255T.

IMO the situation here is the same as with the XL.

Great news.
Then again, htc aren't always reliable you know
Their reps are sometimes wrong.
We've asked them several times whether the Desire range are gorilla glass. To some people they reply yes, to others, no.
So you can't always trust them

I think I'm going to contact them too and ask the same question. I am 99.9% sure that the XL uses the 8255T. The 8255 is an outdated CPU. It wouldn't make sense for them to put it in a brand new device...

You're both right.
jimbo.levy it'd be nice if you'd do that.
The guy on the line said that he is referring to the official HTC specifications (it took some time for him to find them )
I believe 8255T is simply 8255 clocked at a higher speed. Don't quote me but that's my conclusion from Googling.

So basically if us Desire S/HD users overclock, we have a 8255T model?
So the XL CPU is overclocked?

Done my research.
It's the same CPU As the 8255.
'T' stands for the batch that has been extensively tested by the manufacturer to withstand higher clockspeeds.
So its the same as the 8255.

[Q] What are the stock kernel settings on ICS

Some kernels say the gpu is clock to 320mhz, what is it clocked to on stock? Also some kernels state dual core, does this mean stock doesn't use both cores? Just would like to know I'm kind of a spec junky. HTC vivid

Anything that promotes dual core is just hype since our phone is a dual core.
I believe stock gpu is around 266

Nexus7 Hardware Qustion

Is the Tegra3 processor a 2core, 3core or 4core and what is the GHZ speed of this Tegra3? I love this new Nexus7 it is totally awesome.
Quad hut actually has 5...I believe it is 1.2ghz stock (could be wrong).
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using xda premium
Just watched a neat nVidia video on the Tegra 3. It has 4-cores and a "companion core". The companion core does all the mundane background stuff and sucks the least juice. The other cores only kick in when needed, like for loading an app quickly, playing a game, etc.
The video was linked in another thread on XDA...just can't remember where.
It's a 5 core chip with a 12 core GPU, clocked at 1.3 ghz.

Arm

What is the diferrence between armv7 rev1 and Armv7 rev2?
Sent from my HTC Incredible S using XDA Premium HD app
Both are the same architecture, rev2 is an upgraded version of the rev1 chip. Sort of like the tegra 3 and the tegra 3+
They both belong to the same generation of chipsets, but may differ in chip size, die cast size, RAM management, voltage, K-value of materials used and so on

I think rev 2 can be overclocked more than rev 1?right?

Not necessarily, two identical CPUs may differ enough so that one can be overclocked about 1Ghz while the other might be unstable at 100MHz overclock.

I dont know much about mobile processors but I assume it follows the same concept as Desktop processors. Lets assume the i5 2500k is Arm v7 rev1 while the i5 3570k is the Arm v7 rev2. Just cuz the i5 3570k is newer does not necessarily mean it will clock better or hold temperatures as well. Yes i do know the latter i5 is built with a smaller die size but thats not my point
To answer your question, it really comes down to luck on how well you can clock your processor.
