Use an USB adapter and do a back up form your sd to your pc, you can use apps as titanium backup to backup your data/apps or you can do it manually using whatever browser you want that allow you to manage system partition....
To create a swap patition you will need to use gparted, minipartition tools or do it via recovery in order to get a swap partition or simply using swapper app from Google Play and avoiding create partitions and obviusly a kernel that support it (BE, CF-ROOT e.g.)

Hi
I just tried flashing ARHD 20.2 coming from rooted stock 4.1.2 via CWM touch. The rom won't install, halfway through the phone just re-starts. Also whenever I try a factory wipe or data re-format from cwm my phone re-starts immediately. So I have recovery but I can't flash a new ROM.
Have I corrupted my data partition somehow? Is there a way around this? Maybe via a new recovery or kernel? My searches on xda haven't come up with much. Any ideas? Thanks.

HI, thanks for the advice although I don't understand what you want me to do. I guessed you might have meant try going back to stock which I just tried but that didn't work. I do not seem to be able to flash any ROM.
I can enter in and out of CWM recovery but that is it. My phone is formatted and wiped (excepting my suspect data partition???). So I am doing all flashing etc by adb and fastboot.
I tried a TRWP flash over the top of CWM but it only briefly flashes the twrp logo and then restarts the phone, so I have gone back to CWM which at least works.
In my CWM log I see this
I: Can't partition non-vfat: datamedia
I: Can't format unknown volume: /emmc
Any attempt to format data still just restarts the phone.

to add more info to my situation: if I choose the wipe data option in the install of ARHD 20.2 the phone immediately restarts on the commencement of the installation.
If I don't choose the wipe data option the installation seems to fail when it has finished unpacking.

Hi , i have a galaxy s gt-i9000m (canadian version of a gt-i9000) that stop working yesterday for no apparent reason (nothing new installed), it always reboot with the S logo. I can enter download or recovery mode. Is there a way to backup all files from phones via a computer. When i connect it to computer it sees 2 removable media disk but they show them as empty. Samsung Kies doesn't connect, tell me to change to usb debugging, but i cant since it dont boot.
i don't really care about phone (already have a new one to replace it), but i must backup files that are on phone, (over 8gb of stuff!)
phone is rooted and on ANDROID 2.3.
What can i try?
You say you can enter into recovery mode so try this if your new phone is an Android, make a nandroid backup of your old phone then put sdcard from your old phone into new phone then install "AppExtractor" free from market, extract files to new phone. not sure if it will work but you could try.

a few days ago i dropped my galaxy s2 in the toilet(dont laugh) so i went to using my brother's old s plus I9001.
long story short,i tried to upgrade the 2.3.3 to a 4.2.2 Jellybean using this guide : http://au.ibtimes.com/articles/4579...alaxy-s-plus-i9001-android-4.htm#.VAWoGfmSzGA
i searched a few other guides beforehand,most of which stated that i need a rooted phone,so i rooted it using a guide i found on this forum(here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_S_Plus/GT-I9001)
this is everything i did :
1. Connect the Galaxy S Plus to your computer.
2. Unrar the CM 10.1 firmware RAR file you have downloaded
3. Copy the CM 10.1 firmware you have extracted from the unrar file to the SD card of your phone.
4. Turn off the Galaxy S Plus.
5. Reboot the device into Recovery mode. Press Volume up + Home + Power keys simultaneously. You can flash this ROM using the stock recovery or a custom recovery app.
6. In the Recovery mode, select "wipe data/factory reset" and "wipe cache partition."
7. Then select "install zip from SD card" and "choose zip from SD card." Search for the firmware you have copied on the device.
8. Select the firmware file and install it.
9. Go back and select "reboot system now."
so everything went well, until i tried rebooting the device.im stuck now at the cyanogenmod logo.basically i have a boot loop isue.
being a noob at these kind of things,my first thought was that my phone had bircked,so i followed an unbricking tutorialobviously,it didnt work.
can you please help me solve this bootloop s**t? :good::good:
First of all flash TWRP (Recovery).
Then download CM 10.2 from here and copy it in your internal SD card.
Boot into Recovery.
Do a Data & Cache wipe and finally flash CM 10.2.
Optionally: Flash Gapps (Google Apps)
