is there anyway to get the motoblur contact widget the one that you pull down and shows your favorites and you can call text view contact widget that comes with motoblur to work on other launchers or is that just built into the blur and no way for it to work on other launchers. if that is the case anyone use a similar app that is pretty stable

won't work on other launchers. I know, it sucks. I kinda like that widget too. Try the life.contacts widget from sony. It's pretty good.

All the manufacturers seem to do that with their Widgets. I've seen just about every alternative home launcher receive bad reviews on the android market when there is nothing they can do about it.

Haven't seen a theme change notification bar color yet.can mess with my mode themes to customize your own and download helix launcher from market to make it a little like nexus one, till we have root I doubt you'll see an exact replica of n1 on this phone.
Don't forget adw launcher. Real nice. Or wait till the froyo update

I just hate these bubbles around the icons and I figured a good theme would get rid of them

HELIX IS GREAT... AND RUNS FASTER (YOU CANT USE THE HTC SENSE WIDGET... BUT THEY SLOW THE PHONE DOWN ANYWAY)
ZEAM IS GOOD TOO
These and a couple of others are free in the market place, there is even a home switcher app to jump back and forth.
Enjoy!

Can you back this up? I have the HTC Mail, Calendar, Messages, Flip Clock, Twitter, Music, and News. Each one is a 4x4 on its own homescreen, and I'm using the 7 homescreens. On the one with the flip clock, I also have 8 shortcuts.
I have yet to see this slow down the phone in the slightest, so I'm not sure what you are referring to with the slowdown.
launcherpro is actually the fastest stock android launcher app.
And motorjonny is right, the HTC widgets WILL NOT work on any other home/launcher app. they only work with sense.
cant believe no ones said GDE with the nexus theme! gde costs from market, but nexus theme is free...

I've been using it for about two weeks, no problems so far,
if only RSS widget was a bit better...
I would recommend just switching to an Android ROM that has Sense built in. I was using Typhoon CM7 gingerbread 2.3.4, but wanted the better Facebook widget and Facebook phonebook contact integration, so I switched to BOYPPC-SHIFTPDA GINGER 2.3.4 Sense.s and found all that it had all the options I wanted in a ROM plus some. I really like The transition effects available In this rom. I will never use a non Sense Rom again! Just switch it's well worth it, I promise. Here is link to BOYPPC's Sense Rom if you want to check it out. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=13458657
Good Luck

I was wondering if there was a way to change the number of screens on the Droid 3's motoblur. I noticed the welcome video had 7 screens and that sounds perfect to me. Also, does motoblur no longer have profiles? I'd love a work/home profile for apps.

It's not Motoblur, whats on this Droid!
More homescreens means another installing launcher I think...
I would also like to figure this out, I only want 3 screens, 5 its more than I need
Sent from my DROID3 using XDA App
I prefer one screen myself, with my most used apps nearest the bottom + the dock buttons. I use Launcher Pro for that. Launcher pro also allows me to hide over 30 stock apps that I don't want to see. LP will allow for up to 7 screens.

I'd love to agree with it not being Blur, but if you go to the Files app, Internal Storage->Android->data, and scroll down the list, one of the folders is for an app named 'com.motorola.blur.home'... hmm... I wonder what that could be It seems Motorola themselves just wants to move away from the name, but they can't seem to update their apps to reflect that
I was running 1 screen for a while on my OG, and loved that set up, but I'm using more widgets now than I was then. And until I can use that sweet quick contacts widget in LP, I'm stuck with the blur.

I bought this phone for the hardware... but man do I miss the Sense UI.
Found and purchased Fancy Widgets for the homescreen clock and weather, but still looking for the calendar and email widgets.
Any pointers on some sense-like widgets?
I would look into Launcher Pro Plus in the market. There are some themed widgets that go along with it.
Beautiful widgets are a great substitute for the weather widget from sense.

Yup these are nice
Thanks for the input. There is some nice stuff out there, you've just got to look for it I guess. Spent hours searching for what came stock with HTC.
Time will tell if the hardware on this phone is worth it, or if I should have stuck it out and waited for the Vigor.
As the title says.
I'd like to use a custom launcher the blur one is a little laggy. But I love the "Quick Contacts" widget.
But when installing launcher ex or launcher pro it doesn't show. It's there but can't see it. Anyone else had this???
Like you, I LOVE that widget, however, there is yet no way to get it to work in any launcher besides the stock blur

Ugh. That sucks. Hope it will be fixed soon :-(
Go launcher pro has a widget similar to the stock contact widget and you can size it the way you like.
Sent from my DROID3 using XDA App
I know I know. But it's for sure not as amazing . If I size it the same it takes a whole screen. The moto one is just awesome. Snifffff
True. It doesn't pull down like the stock one.
Sent from my DROID3 using XDA App
Yeah, the stock one is really pretty, animated, and only takes up one line of screen when you don't need it.
